How do i get it to download all file types, i tried downloading a zip file and it came up with this file is not supported , i have it rooted and have a file manager, it may be simple but i am new to android
do you mean download through a browser?
if you long press the link doesn't it give you an option to save it ?
zip support is built in I think, certainly astro handles them easily.
personally I tend to use xscope-gl (1.6 version) to grab files now as it supports pretty much anything.

Download a program called androzip its safe and it works awesome.
Use another browser as I found the default Android browser wouldnt let me download zip,rar or apk files. Dolphin is a tweaked android browser, which works great. I think you can download an HD version...which might suit the 5" screen better. Check it out before you buy
Dolphin hd trailer:

I wasnt as descriptive I should have been. If you download androzip it makes zip recongizable for download and it will open them as well. Also if you need to send any file over gmail you go through androzip. Open it go to the file tap on it and choose send, no zipping required.
Thanks for all the replys guys downloaded android zip and another browser and all is well thanks
Hello chaps, what browser would you guys recommend for android?

If you install Astro file manager that has an option to allow any file to download in the default browser... its worth having anyway as its a great file manager...

Hi,
I live in China and got an already rooted legend from a super friendly little shop in the neighbourhood here, but it came with a horrendous goapk.com rom which severely locked down my ability to install anything from the market - instead, it tried to force me into this relatively useless Chinese goMarket thing. So, waiting patiently, I finally installed the MoDaCo custom ROM last week and everything is running sweetly.
Only now I find I actually miss a couple of the customisations the Chinese ROM had on it. In particular, the htc_cime was very useful to me because it supported handwriting input - the Google Pinyin IME is less useful to Chinese noobs like me who can't read the sound of the characters and need to input the handwriting.
I have had a http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7276627 rummage around these threads and found lots of htc_cime packages, none of which work on Legend under Froyo. Does anybody have a solution? The apk's that do install die immediately when I try to input text, and I don't know what to do with the zip files available on that site - I can extract them, but then it says "Application not installed" without any further help.
Cheers and thanks! Maybe the IME will turn up when 2.2 finally comes out for stock Legends, which will surely happen any minute now
So, a few hundred reads and no replies. Seems like a difficult issue, and obviously not many people are interested in using Chinese handwriting. Should I post this on the development thread? Can anyone at least give some advice on how to install these .zip distribution packages? I know how to install a .apk using the file manager, is some other app necessary to install the .zips?

I just downloaded the .zip file from your link and it had the .apk file inside it and another zip (?).
A zip file is a zip file, they are not android specific, have been around at least 20 years now, it is a compressed file, windows or whatever os you use should be able to open it no problems and then just extract/copy the apk inside to your phones sd card and install it, you also need to open the other zip file INSIDE the zip file (yay recursion) and extract/copy the folder to your sd card as well.
I didn't install it myself as I am still on éclair.
It may be that ZIP files are not Android specific, but to install one you should flash it with ROM Manager or from Clockworkmod Recovery. I don't know if extracting the zip and installing the .apk is working like that. The reason for doing this is mainly because some files cannot be written or replaced when phone is in normal use. From that link I saw it is a signed package (by the name) and it should be installed via ROM Manager or recovery
Hi again,
I tried unzipping the .apk file and installing it, but also no luck. I am fairly sure the .apk installer references the "zi" folder ("zi" means character in Chinese), as that folder seems to contain a lot of files describing the metrics and probably recognition of each character as you write it. Still no luck though.
Using the ROM manager to install packages seems a bit like overkill though - if the Google IME can be installed as an apk without rebooting, surely any IME can be installed like that?
I might ask htc about this when the official 2.2 FOTA comes out, if I claim I had it before and it wasn't in the update they might just send me an .apk that will sort this out once and for all. No big hopes on that one though.
Cheers,
Leon

I've never used it but why not try es file explorer? It claims to have a root explorer included.
I need flash able zip...some roms does not include any file manager.. like aokp

You could always download one from the market.
Or use 7-zip to open another ROM.zip, system/app and pull it out. Then use 7-zip again to unzip AOKP, put the file manager into system/app, rezip it and then flash it.
File managers are freely available. Is there a reason why you can't get one from the market. No SIM or WIFI access, maybe?
thank you
OP-thank you.
Many timse now I have flashed on the run. Some times I am on limited data or in a no coverage area. And then the times I don't want to install gapps.... yes... this is very useful.
@woodrube- thanks for the tip on the 7zip trick... I don't know why but I never thought about that. I extract stuff like that all the time... I feel stupid not thinking of that. That will be most use full next time I pan fry bacon. thank you. :highfive:
Xplore is a pretty good file manager. Its user interface us really great for copying files and stuff

The easiest way is to open a rom zip file with 7zip and simply drag your favorite file manager to to /system/app/ folder.
Or you can use this premade flashable zip file and put in your own apks to flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572962

i found this quite helpful. i use wifi to connect to the market and having a file explorer from the get-go helps me enter my wifi credentials through a text file vs having to manually enter ridiculously complicated passwords by hand. not to mention my google account credentials. thanks
does this works on every phone?
Nope, just on Android phones
i was looking every where for this. hope works. ty
big thanks.worked perfect on my s advance (aicp rom,4.4)

Head over here and download the modified APK - put this in a convenient place to run on your device:
http://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone...to_hearthstone_for_your_phone_no_root/cmwvvk1
It's been modified using this method:
http://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/2phc0e/guide_how_to_hearthstone_for_your_phone_no_root/
Download the 738705 obb files which are also available from the reddit thread I first linked. You will need to create a folder called com.blizzard.wtcg.hearthstone in the android/obb folder. Place the two obb files in the newly created com.blizzard.wtcg.hearthstone folder.
Run the APK from your device and it will install and unpack Hearthstone files...and then you can play with no restrictions!
All credit to the people on the Hearthstone reddit who modded the files, wrote the guides, etc.
The game is running smoothly for me!

For whatever reason the game crashes the instant I launch it. It kicks over to landscape for a split second then comes back to portrait with a force close.

Did you put both obb files in the right place and are using the 705 version (not the 702)?
Did it install correctly and the crash is only when you launch it?
Maybe try redownloading the files in case something is corrupt?

Confirmed! Working for me as well.

Imo's 1.1
http://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/2pj2q6/much_simpler_way_to_install_hs_on_your_android/ is a better link.
Using Lean Kernel and it works. I had to manually put the modded apk in /data/app/ into its own folder and named the apk base.apk.
I tried this version:

Several hour download time unfortunately.
You're right moopile.
But I bought the 2-day-account
For me it was worth it.
But i know that it is a lot of money for a free game...
Theres no need to get it from upload... use the link from mega. its super fast
i don't have nexus 6 but i wish it was 6 and higher not higher than 6 ! but anyway downloading it for my nexus 4 i can't wait.... thanks for the awesome guide
It works like a charm on my N5
I get
"Closed Sorry, Hearthsone currently only runs on Android tablet 6" or larger" message
I used all the provided files from MEGA...
Does this still work ?
I wish this would work on my nexus 6! c'mon, 5.92 is close enough to 6"!
I installed it from the play store, and then used those OBB files instead, using the modded apk with no problems now. Card text is even legible, it's perfect for this phone!

I have tried looking for another email app that is similar, but so far no luck.
There are several things I like about the stock app
1. separation by day (today, yesterday, last 7 days etc)
2. a checkbox to select all email from that day
so far most email apps seem to lack both of these things. most seem to be headed towards everything dumped into one group and 'swipe to delete email' stuff. But sometimes you have a few dozen (or more) junk emails and just want a simple checkbox to select all and delete.
So long story short: is there an .apk for the stock samsung email app? Or does anyone know of another email app that has these same functions?
K-9 mail is pretty much the go-to for most folks, but you can check these out too

i posted this link because most of the apps are what the users tastes are. Sometimes you just have to try them out to see for yourself

k-9 doesn't really look like the stock email app though =/
closest I've found is maildroid, but not 100% exact (though much closer than any other mail app I've found so far)

unfortunately it isn't really an .apk file-type though. I've downloaded it, and it is a .zip file. So I unzipped it and it has 2 folders, and those 2 folders have even more folders inside of them...

After you download and extract the zip go to the extracted folder and then inside it to system/app and you'll find both the stock email app as well as the exchange apk if you need that too. Try to install the email app like any other apk. If it fails to install you will have to root your phone if it's still not and use something like Root Browser to put the email app's apk in your phone's system/app folder. Then you'll need to reboot the phone to see it with all your other applications.
PS: The zip file could easily be a flashable zip through a custom recovery like TWRP but I can't say for sure so better do it manually just in case. I'm not responsible for anything you do to your phone while trying this ^^ But the worst thing that could happen is that the app won't run.
