The Samsung Vibrant writes in /sys/class/power_supply/battery/batt_chg_current the charging curretn, if charging.
The Galaxy I9000 does this not.
Do you think it's possible to port this feature form the Vibrant to the SGS?
If so where to start looking?

AndroidGuys are showing what "appears" to be a Samsung i897 (Could this be AT&T version of the Galaxy S)
Whoever took those pictures is useless with a camera. Half a dozen pics and you still cant see what the thing looks like.
apparently they don't have the same processor
i897 has snapdragon and galaxy s has hummingbird
But maybe the news source is just badly informed and assumed from recent devices that all 1GHz Androids utilize the snapdragon. I can't see any sense from Samsungs point of view to license Snapdragon at this point, when they cooked up something better themselves.

Looks like its different, as the casing is not the same. May be the same specs, though.
Everywhere I read about this i897 they mention that the phone has an AMOLED not a Super AMOLED screen. Without the enhanced screen, without the hummingbird processor and with possibility of having to wait a long time for it to be unlocked/rooted.. I don't see a reason for choosing this phone over the N1.

I'm with you on that. I'm hoping that the articles are wrong, or that the true Galaxy S ends up at AT&T.
I recently got a hold of a Samsung Captivate and was amazed on how smooth and snappy the phone was, but couldn't help notice that it was faster than my Tab at stock. I mean apps were loading instantly and the browser running at lightning speed.
I compared the Captivate to different firmwares that I was using on my Tab, such as XXJM6 and JPJK2 which are the most recent ones.
Is it possible that the firmwares are still not fully optimized for the Tab? I thought most of the hardware was almost the same across all the Galaxies? I'm just concerned that maybe my Tab is defective.
Note: Forgot to mention that Market is also very slow to load in comparison too. It's instant on the Captivate without lagfix on both devices.
Now, I have a Samsung Vibrant and a Galaxy Tab and I have to admin there is little notices such as the market slower a lil bit slower on the tab, but other then thatthe tab is over all smoother then the vibrant.
Oh and in case this ever comes up both the Vibrant and Tab I have are stock.

One thing to bear in mind is that both the Tab and Galaxy S use the same processor and GPU. However, due to the increased resolution of the Tab, it is throwing around 60% more pixels to the screen than the Galaxy S, which will certainly be a factor in any performance differential.
FWIW, I've not noticed any significant difference in speed between my Tab and my HTC Desire, and anecdotally the Desire is just as fast as the S except in gaming.
Vis-a-vis the Market - usually, the slowness of the Market is at the Google end, not the device. It may be it's just handling the fingerprint differently.

Dave
I am upgrading phones with sprint. Right now I have a EVO 4G with MIUI on it, LOVE IT. I have had it since it came out. I have had some good times with this phone but through wear and tear I am no longer able to charger the battery through the charger and I must charge the battery it self which sucks. I Would like another phone were I can do some moding on it like MIUI. Any suggest guys. Thanks in advance.
I personally am stuck between the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S III. The Galaxy Nexus is always going to be the super easy to root and mod as it is Google's phone (but made by Samsung). Its got good specs but the Galaxy S III blows it out of the water with its quad core processor and 2gb of ram. I like high specs so I'll probably be going with the GS III.

All Samsung devices are easy to root, Samsung is developer friendly and doesn't lock bootloaders like HTC and Motorola. They use a custom binary flash counter in the Odin download mode instead of s-off, it keeps track of how many times you've flashed a non-stock, unsecure kernel basically a custom kernel not modified from stock but built from source. There are ways around the flash counter increasing such as mobile Odin or resetting the flash counter using triangle away for ICS kernels or a USB jig for GB kernels

Hello fellow enthusiasts, I'm wondering if anyone has been able to source a black Samsung Galaxy S4 MHL/HDTV Adapter? I'm particularly interested in this because (1) I have a black Samsung Galaxy S4 and (2) The Samsung Galaxy S4 MHL/HDTV Adapter does not require a power source.
I've searched almost everywhere and can't get it in black! Any ideas?
They have it on Samsung official site

They have it on Samsung official site and Bestbuy has it also.
I just got mine delivered from amazon today. Very clear 1080p signal, but the end of the cable is a bit fat. I will need to break it apart and retape it in order to fit through the opening in my Neo hybrid spigen case.
Never seen a black one. Beware though - it night not need a a power source but it sucks battery like there's no tomorrow.

I am downgrading simply because of Cyanogenmod and bigger battery. Good idea or no?
I bought S5 due to CyanogenMod support, removable battery and microSD card slot. Those 3 things were deal breakers for me, when i was choosing my new phone. S6 have amazing specs, and it will be a much much faster device than S5. I heard, that first alpha build of CM was released for S6, but it will take a long time, before it's going to function properly. If you can't live without CM (like me ) and you need that bigger battery (which you can always replace with a spare one ) it is a good idea to downgrade, but if you are thinking about more future-proof phone, which will last longer, i'd go with S6.

I heard about that yellow tint, but people who had that, simply went to their seller/Samsung service with their warranty and they mounted a new display. Fortunately, i haven't got that tint.
You can watch FHD movies without charging, i dunno what's the problem ( or i'm too sleepy, and i can't understand english at this moment :/ excuse me xd )
Yes, CM supports LTE.
That is a purely opinionated question and I'm anxious to see all of the replies to this one but in my opinion the S6 is of course a faster device but I'm with Luki7151 on this. I prefer the S5 because it has:
1.) Removable Battery which comes in handy especially if you're a modder.
2.) Expandable memory which is really the biggest deal breaker for me.
3.) S5 has USB 3.0 port. Don't know why they went back to the 2.0 small port on the S6.
4.) S5 is water resistant
My girlfriend got the S6 and there's nothing my S5 can't do that hers can. In fact, my S5 has more features since hers is stock and I'm running S6 edge custom rom lol. There has also been numerous occasions where I'd watch 3 movies in FHD back to back with screen brightness turned all the way up and still did not have to charge my phone.
For me the possibility to use a micro SD (128 GB) is a very good reason as well!
S6 has USB 2.0 port, because it was a standard in smartphone technology. I can only only list two devices which had USB 3.0 port: Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5. Probably it was too odd for Samsung to have two major devices with those USB 3.0 ports, while any other phone had standard 2.0 port, so they reverted it back to old standard.
I cannot say, that S5 is fully IP67 certified (30min to 1m of water), because i have never merged my phones . Although, i can say that it is water resistant, because it survived, when i was cleaning it up under stream of water.
Last but not least. Remember! Flashing an AOSP rom like CyanogenMod, will have some consequences. You won't be able to use fingerprint scanner, heart rate sensor or some Touchwiz related features like one-handed mode or download booster, but for this price, you will get (in my opinion) the fastest running rom on S5, which i have ever flashed
I'm currently using TW Revolution V5.2 and can tell you everything works including finger print scanner and download booster and it is an S6 Edge port so you'll have the S5 with the S6 features if you want a rom with all the stock working features. The rom is in the international section if you wanna try something different out.
