Gmail not sending - Vibrant General

Searched and couldn't find a fix...my gmail won't send messages. Had anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

Go to
Settings -> Applications
Menu Button - Filter -> Select All
Go to Gmail - Click on Clear Data
Go back
Go to Gmail Storage - Click on Clear Data
That usually fixes it right up
Happened to me all the time running LagFix

Try resyncing before closing Gmail... The server may not have registered what you've done on your phone.

I guess that would make sense. I thought that because I enabled the undo feature, one would need to wait for a spell to sync up....but your answer makes more sense. LOL
Tried what was started above an it didn't help what can be causing this should I uninstall and then reinstall market gmail?
Try actually going into applications and deleting the data on Gmail then force sync it.

Check the sync settings for that account. Not sure about gummyJar, but some of the other gmail installs I've seen set the auto refresh off by default.
I've had problems with this in multiple ROMs as of late. I fix it each time by going to settings>applications>manage applications>gmail. I then clear the data and the cache for that app, go back to the app and hit refresh and it's no longer a problem.
A lot of the problem is that the apps aren't built in anymore. So you end up having to check your sync settings after installing gmail.
Please go into settings>applications>Manage applications>all
select gmail (or whatever other program you are running.
Under "Data" select "Clear data"
That should do it. Let us know.
yeah I went to settings>applications>Manage applications>all and cleared cache/data and still my phone is not syncing emails unless I manually press the refresh button. strange. all my settings are correct . Maybe I should remove my gmail account and see what happens?? Thanks for all the replies.

Google sync problem!!

Hey guys, just received my DHD today and have a very annoying issue.
Starting off,I was stupid enough to import my contacts via bluetooth from my Desire(with HTC's Data Transfer) and it copied ALL of my contacts, including facebook ones,to my DHD's contacts. Then, because I didn't want my facebook contacts along with my normal ones(cause I have more than 800 contacts on facebook) I thought "I'll delete them all and google will sync the ones I want to my phone" and then deleted them all.
After that,I tried syncing with google but to no avail. It synced no contacts at all.No matter how many times I tried, the sync icon in settings started turning for some few seconds and stopped. And that happened again and again and again, each time I press the sync button. What's more, the arrow-and-circle syncing icon next to google's contacts will not disappear,it will stay there without moving.
I also tried disconnecting this account but it says that I cannot do that and that I would have to factory reset,WHICH IS WHAT I WANT TO AVOID,I had to restore many many apps manually(don't want to root yet) and don't want to do it again if possible.
ANY help appreciated!Thanks!
Log into GMail on your computer and check your contacts there. I'm hoping you didn't inadvertently delete them too when you deleted them off your DHD and pressed sync.

No,happily all of my contacts are there!Phew...
But still, the phone won't do anything.Strange is my Desire is alright...Or at least it seems so!
Thanks anyway!Appreciate it!
That's good to know.
Try this. Settings > Accounts & Sync > Tap your google account > Untick Contacts > Menu > Sync now > Now Reboot
Once booted up repeat, but put a tick in contacts.

Did that and guess what?It did something different! That's a surprise!
Anyway, seriously didn't expect it to do anything. But all it did was to say that Google sync is facing some problems and it will be back up soon or something like that...Guess I'll have to wait!
Hopefully it should sort itself out.

Judging from your username I am suspicious of something. You must be in Greece on Cypus I guess so, do you use any Greek localization?
I got a sync conflict and did the following to fix it...
Turn off Contacts sync:
From Home screen > Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync > Google > untick Contacts
(you should also kill any Facebook sync enabled for the moment)
Then clear Contacts data:
From Home screen > Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All tab > find 'Contacts storage' and open it > Clear Data
...then turn on contacts sync again and it should do a fresh sync from scratch.
This should fix your problem as it will pull all the contact data freshly from your Google account.
Good luck.

Well,it did sync but without the contacts being connected to facebook...And most of them were on my Desire! Is there something I can do about that or should I just connect them manually and be done with it?
Thanks again!

There is known issue about this and I was going to suggest you turn back to English but if you sorted it out by the previous procedure, it's up to you. If it doesn't work 100% give it a try and change to English and compare. I gave up with Greek as the HTC Likes and similar services don't work ok.

Anyway,I'll try and see what happens!Let's see if it brings facebook connection back to my contacts...Thanks!
Great to know it at least helped you part of the way.
Did you re-enable Facebook sync after? I found it can sometime before it links them again.
Certainly can't help you with the Greek side of things!

Gmail contacts.

Been trying to sync sence last night and keep getting unable to sync. Any one else having troble?

Remove the account and add it back in. Try that.

I had that, seems to be when contacts are linked and you delete the phone contacts without unlinking them first. Also you seem to have to do a factory reset to be able to delete the google account as other apps use this account.Doing a factory reset from the sd card and phone options does work then put the accounts back on and sync.
So the only option is factory reset. I thought about adding another Google account and removing the offending one. The add the offending one back.

I thought i am on to the best syncing program - Google Sync but i am now doubting. I hate almost anything that will make me to factory reset!
Try this.
Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Now scroll down to Contacts > Clear data repeat for Contacts Storage.
Then try synchronizing your Google account again.

After completing an reinstall of my contacts there is one small problem. Before the my contact tab auto linked with my Facebook account and now it hasn't. I cannot link it myself because that option is not on the my contact tab details. Any ideas on how I can get the link suggestion again.

Why don't you create a few test contacts, one from your DHD and another from GMail. Sync them and delete both from your DHD.
Thanks for your help I just removed my Facebook for HTC sence account then added it again and with out me doing anything 20 minutes later it had linked my Facebook account to my contact card with out even asking.

Apps redownload themselves

Everytime I hard reset my phone, my applications redownload on their own. I do not want this. I uncheck the back up my data option under privacy and it still happens. How can I stop this?
Uncheck under privacy, force a sync, and try again.
If that doesnt work, then when you hard reset and after you do the INITIAL login to your account, you should see an option that says "backup my apps" or whatever........uncheck that. It wont download them but I'm not sure if you will see all of your apps in the market list.

I have done both of those and still. I get the same results. I am pretty sure I have tried to do this every way possible.
Skip your gmail account log in until you turn off mobile data, then turn off sync and uncheck it in privacy setting then go log in. See if that works
Get a new gmail account or simply don't log in

I skipped the setup process then went in and did it, that seemed to work. Thanks guys
Another way is when you click set up Google account and are at the page where you type in your email and password just press the menu button and hit disable restore.

I decided I wanted to turn off the auto-restore as I'm going to be using titanium backup from now on and I came around the same problem as the OP. Every way I tried to leave it off, didn't work. I used all different ways of wiping, factory reset and such.
^^^that is THE ONLY way it seems to work. The only apps you will see in the market are the ones you purchased, and those will not download. Thanks for the tip

I am so surprised that I have never seen this. Thanks
Also it seems that if you skip the process, add your account and disable the auto-restore, and then you re-wipe and and still uncheck backup data, it will restore your apps again. So you have to skip everytime.
