Check the sync settings for that account. Not sure about gummyJar, but some of the other gmail installs I've seen set the auto refresh off by default.
I've had problems with this in multiple ROMs as of late. I fix it each time by going to settings>applications>manage applications>gmail. I then clear the data and the cache for that app, go back to the app and hit refresh and it's no longer a problem.
A lot of the problem is that the apps aren't built in anymore. So you end up having to check your sync settings after installing gmail.
Please go into settings>applications>Manage applications>all
select gmail (or whatever other program you are running.
Under "Data" select "Clear data"
That should do it. Let us know.
yeah I went to settings>applications>Manage applications>all and cleared cache/data and still my phone is not syncing emails unless I manually press the refresh button. strange. all my settings are correct . Maybe I should remove my gmail account and see what happens?? Thanks for all the replies.

Today I had 3 new emails in the inbox, I can actually see them marked in bold in the email list within the inbox, but the unread count was 2, I killed the Gmail app, logged in again and the same thing, do yo know why ?, thanks
It's happened to me also. What I did was to log in on the PC, marked everything read. Then re-sync the gmail app. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.
This was happening to me after restoring some apps using Titanium backup. Going into Settings>Applications>Manage Applications - Clear data/cache from gmail app.

+1 me either...
I fixed this problem by deleting the account and recreating it. Turning off sync and then back on again did not solve it.

I am having an issue with my stock Gmail app not pushing my new emails. It just started NOT happening all of a sudden. Any suggestions? Still on stock rom 2.1
Thanks
Are you using any task killers?

i am having the exact same issue, it started today. the only way i can get my emails pushed to my phone is if i go to the gmail app and then do a refresh. i have to do this everytime i want to read my gmail on my phone. and i do not run any task killers. i am running bionix fusion. i have rebooted my phone, battery and sim pulls and nothing is fixing it.
ditto
I'm having the same problem.
Running:
-Bionix Fusion 1.1
-Project Core v1
I flashed the JI2 modem yesterday again to see if it would help improve my battery life. I'm not sure if that's the reason I'm not getting gmail pushed to my phone though.

Same here. NO task killers and have to refresh to get my emails. Only difference is I am on stock.
Had the same problem. Go to menu>applications>manage. Once there, press menu and change the filter to show all apps. Its set to 3rd Party by default. Then, find gmail, and gmail storage and clear the data and cache for both.
Open gmail and it should fix it.

Sorry, but it didn't work for me either. Bad thing is that there are no other good email apps for gmail. Maildroid is what I am currently using just so I can get notifications. One thing I forgot to mention was that it was working fine today before I downloaded Gmail notifier from the market. Deleted it, but it hasn't worked since.

Actually this fixed the issue for me - or so it seems so far.
I am having the same issue, and I also downloaded Gmail notifier from the market. I tried deleting the data and the cache as well, and so far no change.
I have stock JI6, never installed gmail notifier and it stopped working last night. Will try the cache method and report back.
Funny thing is that I have two gmail accounts. The one that's NOT tied to my phone user information works just fine and is getting the immediate push emails.
Same here no new emails are shown in the phone Gmail since last night
is Every other phone having the same problem now?

In this case, i would check settings on gmail server and in accounts & sync. Maybe try resetting the values just to deflag and reflag it.

Emails are pushing again automatically for me after deleting cache and temporary data.
Clear the cache/data and make sure sync is still on. Odd so many had the same issue at the same time though.
Still not working

still not working for me. i cleared the cache and made sure i have sync turned on. i have unchecked sync and rechecked it and still nothing.
I am having the same issue. Right after clearing the data and cache, I got notified of new mail, then it stopped working again.
I'm deleting emails and they just keep showing up some in the inbox and some in the trash I deleted them one by one from the trash also, to completely remove them and they just keep coming back why is this happening I'm on evils nxsense if that matters. An I'm on gmail 2.3
Try resyncing before closing Gmail... The server may not have registered what you've done on your phone.

I guess that would make sense. I thought that because I enabled the undo feature, one would need to wait for a spell to sync up....but your answer makes more sense. LOL
Tried what was started above an it didn't help what can be causing this should I uninstall and then reinstall market gmail?
Try actually going into applications and deleting the data on Gmail then force sync it.

How would I go about doing this?
From home screen:
Menu key> settings> applications> manage applications> select the All tab, find Gmail and delete data...

I did that and nothing I deleted them all from the trash one by one and then went to manage applications and cleared data and cache and went back to gmail and my trash was full again and I also uninstalled an reinstalled my gmail and nothing...
Everytime I hard reset my phone, my applications redownload on their own. I do not want this. I uncheck the back up my data option under privacy and it still happens. How can I stop this?
Uncheck under privacy, force a sync, and try again.
If that doesnt work, then when you hard reset and after you do the INITIAL login to your account, you should see an option that says "backup my apps" or whatever........uncheck that. It wont download them but I'm not sure if you will see all of your apps in the market list.

I have done both of those and still. I get the same results. I am pretty sure I have tried to do this every way possible.
Skip your gmail account log in until you turn off mobile data, then turn off sync and uncheck it in privacy setting then go log in. See if that works
Get a new gmail account or simply don't log in

I skipped the setup process then went in and did it, that seemed to work. Thanks guys
Another way is when you click set up Google account and are at the page where you type in your email and password just press the menu button and hit disable restore.

I decided I wanted to turn off the auto-restore as I'm going to be using titanium backup from now on and I came around the same problem as the OP. Every way I tried to leave it off, didn't work. I used all different ways of wiping, factory reset and such.
^^^that is THE ONLY way it seems to work. The only apps you will see in the market are the ones you purchased, and those will not download. Thanks for the tip

I am so surprised that I have never seen this. Thanks
Also it seems that if you skip the process, add your account and disable the auto-restore, and then you re-wipe and and still uncheck backup data, it will restore your apps again. So you have to skip everytime.
Ugh, my gmail is totally horked up. I can't get it to send a message and sync is all screwed up. I'll read messages, mark as read, and archive them, but they're still showing up in the unread messages count.
I've checked the sync settings, and everything appears to be in order. Mark messages as read in desktop gmail, and poof, they come back again.
Any ideas?

This has happened to me a couple of times. Try clearing the Market data/cache in Applications (Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Market). Alternatively, you can simply uninstall then reinstall Gmail, which is what I did.

I finally got it worked out. Went to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > GMail and cleared all the data. It took a few seconds to sync up again but now all is well.
Glad you got it sorted.
Just noticed in my last post that I told you to clear data for the Market, when I meant Gmail. Hope that didn't cause any confusion.

i had this issue when i tried to restore a system backup of CM RC4 and it just messed up my main gmail account (got 2 accounts the second one works fine) ... i couldn't resolve it by clearing the gmail data, formating cache etc... so i just flashed a new ROM and that took care of it ... i know that might not be the solution ur looking for but hey i got too annoyed with it and didnt want the headache lol
