Just checking here didn't find anything when i searched. I remember on my last android phone i needed a special kernel to run setcpu right. I'm just checking here, i can run setcpu fine as long as i am rooted right? i don't need to do anything else.
Yes, you need to be rooted. No special kernel necessary for me. Here are some settings that work well for me:
never mind... I'm not allowed to post links/pics... no help from me.
If youre talking about underclocking, you can use settings like this:

You can also overclock following this method: http://androidforums.com/all-things...lock-your-droid-x.html?highlight=overclocking
Got setcpu and I can't get higher than the stock 1ghz max speed. Anyone know what's going on? I want to scale from 300mhz to max stable speed.

SetCPU doesn't overclock for you. You can only go to 1000mhz with SetCPU on the X unless you overclock. There are a couple of overclocking apps for the droidX in the market now. You can use those to achieve a higher clock speed and then you can use SetCPU to make your adjustments.

when I got the G2 and installed a few apps. I would get 1500-1650 in the quadrant speed test.
Now with more time and more apps, when I test it would measure 1450-1530. Is there any reason why my speed reduced? Could it be the apps?

More apps running in the back ground the slower your phone will run.
You can run the phone at 1800mhz just fine if you want some speed.
My current quadrant score.

My first attempt on Antutu scored 20k, 2nd 21k and last 20k. Btw, I'm using cyanogenmod lastest nightly with this custom kernel and also fauxclock.
Here are my clock settings:

My last attempt scored like this:
and compared to other LG G2:
I'm little worried about the result that my device had. I think it is really low.
Can someone share their OC/GPU/UV settings that will be good at gaming but not that hot?
Thanks in advance and hope you can help me guys.
Does your device still run swiftly?
Benchmarks are pretty to look at, when you have nice scores. But in reality they are meaningless.
Just my opinion of coarse.

Hi,
Read the lastest pages of the kernel thread I (we) speak about thermal throttling... Maybe your CPU can't handle the overclock to 2,5 Ghz too...
Plus AOSP/CM rom scores always lower than stock, I mean compared with LG rom.
You are complaining in your other thread about CPU temp and you are overclock to 2,5 Ghz for benchs...
Why does it even matter? Benchmarks are lame.
I don't even know which apps could help with this issue. The usual suspects (GSam Battery Monitor/Better Battery Stats) don't report anything unusual, yet these two "apps" drain battery more than everything else combined (aside from the screen).
I have been getting max 4 hrs of sot.people are getting 7 hrs.
I think I have found the problem. I checked my processor using cpu-z and found that processors is running all cores all the time even when no app is running in background. Its running them at 652 MHZ to 1300 MHz and scales them to 2 GHZ when ever a touch input or key press is detected. Can anyone share their cpu-z stats? Specially the guys who are getting 7hrs sot.
Check "screen on time " thread for more info.
I bought up this issue a while ago and it was ignored mate there is no proper scaling it seems like all 8 cores are at there lowest or there fullest and not much in between so maybe a kernel problem?
Bump.

I have now started testing a little - first with changing the governors (with Kernel Adiutor) from the default (which seems to be schedutil) to other combinations (on my old OP3T conservative on the Big cores and interactive on the Little ones was looking like a very good compromise, but the BluSpark kernel also had some options for touch boost that don't seem to be active on the stock Taimen kernel; also on OP3T making both conservative would save even more battery power but you would get lag on gapless music and other similar stuff).
What worked best for you?
Changing the governor on your p2xl!?!

Why would you do that? Battery works great
TBH I've been told by at least a couple kernel devs that the current schedulers are so optimised it's not really worth messing with them.

Couldn't agree more with your post. When Flash, Flar2, and DespairFactor tell me to leave it at stock settings.....I listen! :good:
Go with the developers stock defaults....
