T-Mobile G2 with Google, first HSPA+ phone from T-Mobile.
http://g2.t-mobile.com/
Specs?
Can't wait for the g2. Gonna be hard to give up my NEXUS.
I don;t think the G2 will be the replacement of my N1. According to all the articles that I've read, they say it will be a 800MHz (only speculations at this time) processor and not a +1GHz. If this is true, then I'll wait for the N2.

I dont think its going to be the vision to be honest.
Its pointless to have a phone with scorching web speeds and an inferior processor. Android spin starts more bull**** rumors then anyone anyway.

This phone will not have anything past 1ghz snapdragons we all know as of right now. The new line isn't coming until the end of the year.
I think I might give up my nexi, I've been dying for a keyboard phone comparable to the nexus one. This may be it.
Not me. I rooted mine when the 1-click root app came out and it gave me more reasons to keep mine. I love it even more! I can't believe i thought of replacing it.

If you check his twitter account, he posted the details of the processor a couple of days ago. But yeah I think it said between 800mhz-1ghz

This is one of those cases where MHz won't matter one bit. The chip has a whole bunch of new features not found on the N1, including many hardware multimedia accelerators. Plus, you really won't notice much of a different with just a 200MHz drop.
With a faster radio, more memory and better hardware acceleration, the CPU speed becomes less important.
I'll upgrade if it offers speedy HD video, HDMI out and more memory as those are the things I'm missing on my N1.
The phone will have the scorpion chip set which equivalent too the snapdragon, but with a better cpu and wvga screen

It's going to be hard for me to give my Nexus up as well. I'm still trying to weigh my options on whether I should just go ahead and get the G2 or keep my N1. If the screen size is not 4.3" I will be keeping my Nexus until a 4.3" T-Mobile Android deice come out.

Thanks.
I'm still waiting for a 1.3-1.5 GHz phone before replacing my Nexus.
Honestly, im waitng for the next Dev phone, personally the mod community on the Nexus One is far superior to anything it could be on any other phone. So i'll wait, im not a slide out keyboard guy anyway. Google tends to release a new "dev" phone for each major release:
G1 - 1.0 &1.5
MT3G - 1.6 (i think)
Droid -2.0
Nexus One -2.1 & 2.2
Droid was never a development phone

I been reading and i see all the rumors of it being released mid Oct and that it requires a 1GHZ cpu do you think the G2 will get the bump? (but we all know cm7 will be a for sure update) and yes i know the reqiurements are just rumors.
I doesn't need a 1ghz cpu.
You're wrong. The requirements are not just rumors but are confirmed to be wrong.

first off... we HAVE a 1GHZ capable scorpion processor (its just UNDERclocked at 800MHZ to save battery) and the fastest android phone available so yes, of f*cking course the G2 QUALIFIES for gingerbread (sorry I freaking hate that stupid rumor. it's nothing personal... it's just been asked around 10 million times). second... that is debatable whether 3.0 will be pushed to the G2 since tmobile has been screwing all their android phone customers with their lack off new OS version otas after 1.6 so.... who nows for sure. it seems like they didn't release 2.2 for the MTS so some of the owners would upgrade to the G2. and guess what? it worked... we will get a couple fix otas (one is being pushed out as we speak) but know one knows for sure what they will do. if can root the darn thing (hopefully the ota being sent will help in the efforts), we can just port it from the desire z or something similar if tmobile drops the ball on gingerbread. I wouldn't count on it... just my opinion

Guys its very simple. Lets consider the below statement (current situation):
A Desire with 1Ghz snapdragon that scores lower in benchmarks and slower than a 800mhz Desire Z.
If based on that "rumour spec", which do you think deserves Gingerbread more? The 'spec achieving' but slower 1Ghz Desire or the 'below spec' but faster 800mhz Desire Z?
PROCESSOR NUMBER IS NOT AN INDICATION OF ACTUAL PERFORMANCE drill that into your head and stop thinking that the Desire Z will not get Gingerbread.

oh ok thanks i searched by android 3.0 but the info from the link is good i didnt come across that with my late night googling same ones was popping up from june.
you know XDA has this feature where when you decide on a title for a thread it actually searches for you and you have to scroll down past the results to post the rest of your new thread. i don't mean to be rude, had a trying day and thought for a second that XDA would make me happier(wow i'm f*cking stupid for that).
we need to remove the add new topic from the tapatalk app as it makes search harder and new thread easier. these rumors have been debunked, and notice that the G2 out peforms EVERY other phone out there even with the "slower" CPU, the underclock is a software lock so we could get it kicked up a notch when 3.0 is released(which from recent rumors 3.0 is actually honeycomb). if you don't think the phone will get updates then please return your phone and get a nexus.
sino8r thank you for posting that these were rumors but it seems these rumors will never go away

I love my Vibrant....just remember the G2 is hardware locked for rooting. There are some sweet roms for the Vibrant. And if you're hot for Froyo....there's a rom for that. The main issue is the Gps still has a few kinks to be worked out....other than that you'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

It hasn't been confirmed that it will remain unrootable. Last thing I read cyanogen and crew were working on it and have said it will be difficult but they will find a way just like they have with other pita phones like ours.
Yeah I just checked the HTC Vision dev forums and they already have a one-click temp root, so I imagine a full root wouldn't be far off.

Hi all,
Recently i went into G2/DZ's forum and saw that the dev community support is huge! Almost the same as N1... Did N1 Dev community move on to a better phone?
If they are, what phones currently has the largest dev community support?
Can't both be huge? Just wait till the N1 2.3 OTA drops, the dev section will hotten up
fyi
the n1 still has the largest dev support
its pretty strong here still, I recently traded my n1 for an iphone 4, and dont like it. So probably going to sell or trade it for a nexus s, or g2, sprint evo. Prefer to get the nexus s
* cyanogen recently twitted that Gingerbread is running on his G2
* pershoot, as of lately, has been releasing updates for G2 kernels more frequently than he did for N1
To me, that indicates that the G2 is the heir apparent to the N1

Not really. The N1 already has Gingerbread running on it too but it isn't really excited because N1 users are going to get the official Gingerbread OTA update. Developers aren't going to waste there time getting a half-baked build going when the official one will be here any day.
The other phones aren't getting OTA updates so the ASOP build is the best they'll probably get, so why not start building them up? Plus Cyanogen won't build Gingerbread roms until after we get the official OTA build. He did the same thing with Froyo.
This is why the other DEV threads appear to be SO hot right now. They got what they need. N1 devs are waiting for the real deal.
Cyanogen won't build what?

How dare you! Now I'm excited.
Cyanogen has me addicted to his drop down menu and theme support, so I wait. Seems Gingerbread isn't fully supported yet anyway with lacking Video Record and others.
I know Cyanogen's team is playing with Gingerbread... but I'm not sure if they'll actually release anything until an official build (unless it takes too long or they get everything working). It just doesn't make sense to spend a lot of time on the N1 seeing how GB is coming to us Officially real soon.
Video recording works... xD

Good question. I was surprised to read that myself. 512MB is like going back to early 2010 when the Nexus One came out. I would expect most new high end devices coming out today to have 768MB or 1GB.

The reason T-Mobile took the UI from Optimus 2x off the phone is so it will be easy to update to 2.3, since that's what it was suppose to originally ship with. Google will be the one releasing 2.3 OTA, not LG so don't worry.

Just because no single app uses that much, doesn't mean that a device's performance doesn't increase when more RAM is present. RAM is something you can never have too much of, and in today's world, 512MB for a smartphone is paltry.
How will this help us epic users on may 8th?
The answer is still: We will have to wait and see how the source code from the Nexus is useful, which depends on which hardware elements it shares with our Epics.

While I do prefer the epic 4Gs looks the nexus a is a better handset in the end. I'm tired of constantly searching for that "perfect" rom. Don't think the Nexus is without its problems, from what I've read the screen seems to be very susceptible to cracks thanks to the curved shape and there is a bug with the messaging app that sends to thewrong recipient.

I don't see why you need to be insulting people who want to get a Nexus S 4G. It seems like a good phone for someone who wants to have the latest android releases immediately available to them. My wife is probably getting the Nexus S 4G as an upgrade from her HTC Hero. The main reason is that she loves CM7 on her Hero and I can't guarantee her CM7 (or future CM releases) on any other phone for sprint. You calling her stupid or in your words "nobody smart" is pretty ridiculous on multiple levels, but mostly because her reasons for getting the Nexus are sound.

That bug wasn't Nexus specific, it was common to android. One of the developers at Google made a blog post about it a while ago.
Yes, i see your point for CM7 on the Nexus...
Are you guys forgetting the Evo3D is right around the corner?
Along with its HUGE Dev community and CM7 pretty much already guaranteed for it....
Screw the GS2 b/c after overclocking the Evo3D i doubt ill need anymore speed...
Yes the 3D is a gimmick but the specs of the phone is so tempting.
GS2 will be out like 2-3 months after and i don't see them getting updated till next year by sammy because we all know how that goes....

I think he was referring to anyone who would be paying full price to go from our epics to its fraternal twin... now from a hero to a nexus, BRILLIANT! I would never be able to hang onto a phone that long though..

When I get a new phone....hopefully...soon, I'm not real sure what it will be. The Nexus just feels AWESOME in your hand but I'm used to the slide out keyboard. The GSII sounds awesome as well but we saw how the support was on the Samsung side plus TW makes development SO much more difficult.
The Nexus S 4G isn't really a step forward like the GSII or the EVO 3D will be. It would also be hard to leave the SAMOLED screen for Super LCD/TFT. Decisions...Decisions...
Been using a 3 years old Palm Pre and have been amazed at how it just works. The specs of the HP Pre 3 look to be pretty solid. I love how emails works correctly on the Pre. I hate the unreliability of email polling on Android in general.
O o plus the Nexus S 4G doesn't have an XDA section.....

I really love WebOS but when the hell are they going to come out with a newly designed phone model for God's sake? I understand some people still like it but I don't see why they can't have a little variety.

great cool teh evo 3d will have cm7. and when 2.4 comes out the nexus will be rocking that for a good while. and assuming that htc locked the bootloader like they did the thunderbolt then when it comes time for the evo3d to get it.. well it wont, not without an official 2.4 kernel and yes i mean that will include cm8

I think he meant the Evo 3D. Hes torn between choosing the SAMOLED Nexus S or the SLCD Evo 3D (which in reality is a qHD screen).
