I love my Vibrant....just remember the G2 is hardware locked for rooting. There are some sweet roms for the Vibrant. And if you're hot for Froyo....there's a rom for that. The main issue is the Gps still has a few kinks to be worked out....other than that you'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

I would and am waiting to see what is offered during Q1 of 2011... G2 may be "locked" but it's not hardware, besides the Vibrant still hasn't seen a stable 1.4GHz OC.

It hasn't been confirmed that it will remain unrootable. Last thing I read cyanogen and crew were working on it and have said it will be difficult but they will find a way just like they have with other pita phones like ours.
Yeah I just checked the HTC Vision dev forums and they already have a one-click temp root, so I imagine a full root wouldn't be far off.

Why are you selling it?its a bad ass phone. My wife has 1 and she loves hers. 2.2 update will be soon on it so anything you get today or tomorrow will have 2.2 on it. What's the point? The mts3g is still a new phone. Wait a bit. You might find something ultimate after the new year. 2011 is the year for 4g and its products.

well its all old technology, old processor that cant do flash, no hd screen...
it is a cool phone and hopefully 2.2 sense comes out and it will be good for a bit, but the newer 4g, hd phones are the way to go in my opinion.

Can't wait for the g2. Gonna be hard to give up my NEXUS.
I don;t think the G2 will be the replacement of my N1. According to all the articles that I've read, they say it will be a 800MHz (only speculations at this time) processor and not a +1GHz. If this is true, then I'll wait for the N2.

I dont think its going to be the vision to be honest.
Its pointless to have a phone with scorching web speeds and an inferior processor. Android spin starts more bull**** rumors then anyone anyway.

This phone will not have anything past 1ghz snapdragons we all know as of right now. The new line isn't coming until the end of the year.
I think I might give up my nexi, I've been dying for a keyboard phone comparable to the nexus one. This may be it.
Not me. I rooted mine when the 1-click root app came out and it gave me more reasons to keep mine. I love it even more! I can't believe i thought of replacing it.

This is one of those cases where MHz won't matter one bit. The chip has a whole bunch of new features not found on the N1, including many hardware multimedia accelerators. Plus, you really won't notice much of a different with just a 200MHz drop.
With a faster radio, more memory and better hardware acceleration, the CPU speed becomes less important.
I'll upgrade if it offers speedy HD video, HDMI out and more memory as those are the things I'm missing on my N1.
The phone will have the scorpion chip set which equivalent too the snapdragon, but with a better cpu and wvga screen

It's going to be hard for me to give my Nexus up as well. I'm still trying to weigh my options on whether I should just go ahead and get the G2 or keep my N1. If the screen size is not 4.3" I will be keeping my Nexus until a 4.3" T-Mobile Android deice come out.

Thanks.
I'm still waiting for a 1.3-1.5 GHz phone before replacing my Nexus.
Honestly, im waitng for the next Dev phone, personally the mod community on the Nexus One is far superior to anything it could be on any other phone. So i'll wait, im not a slide out keyboard guy anyway. Google tends to release a new "dev" phone for each major release:
G1 - 1.0 &1.5
MT3G - 1.6 (i think)
Droid -2.0
Nexus One -2.1 & 2.2

Not to mention Google was giving it away along with Nexus One's to developers.
I think i'm not the only one that hates senseUI so my following questions are:
1. what developers would put the effort to max this phone to it's best?
2. Will we have cyanogen?
3. will we have screen calibration?(i really god used with true color rather than "blue pushed" colors).
Please if any developer would love to put a bit of comfort to our hearts please post here that you would do the best for this phone
So looking forward for it!
Edit: posible to swich roms from G2 to z and other way? that would be nice, theoretically it's very posible same hardware!
looks like the G2 will have stock froyo(not sure) but i really hope we can cyanogen mod on this thing! still don't think desire z is going to replace n1 on the priority list.

Damn i will really miss the led flash from n1) really really usefull for me.
LED flash? G2 also has a flash with its camera, if thats what you mean..
Also, to your 3rd point, if you're talking about the blue tinge issues and such, these screens won't have those issues as they're not AMOLED's, but SLCD's.

Unfortunately for now, Only Samsung has the rights to use S-AMOLED. Its their tech anyways. But I believe from next year fall onwards they will start selling S-AMOLED screens to other manufacturer's.
For me S-amoled is not that interesting anymore, really curios about this S-lcd and it's multitouch capabiliti really hope is better than n1 or desire.

Cyanogen tweeted earlier this month saying that he's getting a G2, so I think it's safe to say that the G2/Desire Z will have lots of developer/hacker support. Honestly, that's part of the reason I'm so excited about the G2. I'll likely be keeping it for the full 2 year contract, so having a phone that's so supported by XDA is a huge advantage.

maybe not from sprint, but better devices are just around the corner, i mean look at the desire HD, the Evo just came out, and the second gen snapdragon core with a 3x better GPU is already here...not to mention the Galaxy phones, with their hummingbird cores and super amoleds...
Id say the EVO goes EOL by q2/q3 2011 but there will still be plenty of development going on here for at least few years. I been seeing more EVOs around town lately Im wondering if there's a Walmart selling them cheap.
My upgrade is in March also I hope something phenomenal is out by then.
Honestly the Evo might be outdated sooner. Look at the N1 hardware vs. Evo hardware. I mean the processor + ram, not the 'camera'. It will only be a few months until dual core processors and parallel processed apps come through and make the Evo seem slow. For now, its a beast of a king though.

The reason T-Mobile took the UI from Optimus 2x off the phone is so it will be easy to update to 2.3, since that's what it was suppose to originally ship with. Google will be the one releasing 2.3 OTA, not LG so don't worry.

Just because no single app uses that much, doesn't mean that a device's performance doesn't increase when more RAM is present. RAM is something you can never have too much of, and in today's world, 512MB for a smartphone is paltry.
