Sprint is advertising to join their network and try their phones for 30 days. If you aren't happy you can get a full refund.
I've had TMo and now Verizon and the only thing that is keeping me from jumping in with two feet into Sprint is their network coverage in my location. So I'm wondering, if I purchase the EVO from Best Buy, how does the return policy work? Do I still have 30 days to try the phone and if I'm not happy am I able to return it?
I called a Sprint Customer Service Rep and they had no idea so has anyone looked into this?
Hopefully I'll get the phone, love the service and port my Verizon number over.
Best Buy has this in their refund info section.
Return and Exchange Period
You can return or exchange purchases within the timeframes below.
14 days for computers, monitors, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, and radar detectors
30 days for all other products
45 days for all products for Reward Zone Premier Silver members
As long as you dont break the phone. Best Buy will take it back within 30 days. Took back my hero/cancelled my line. Before my 30 days was up so i could get the evo. Had no problems returning at all.
Thanks for the info, good to hear I won't have any trouble returning it but I'm really hoping the phone works out for me. I have Verizon $111/mo + ClearWimax $55/mo so this phone would save me a lot of money.
I purchased 2 HTC Evo 4G's on June 4th. I still have until July 4th do return/cancel the lines. I'm having those light leaking problems and my GF's phone is lifting at the bottom part of the screen. I ported both numbers from AT&T to Sprint and want to know what the best route would be to get replacements.
My local RS which happened to be the Point of Sale doesn't have any Evo's in stock nor did they know when they will receive any. I was told by a manager that when they receive more stock they will call me to let me know when I can swap out the devices. I don't believe him being that he stated that even if he gets them after the 30 day period it'll be an easy swap. I think I'm setting myself up for failure and they just want me to ride out the 30 day period so they can collect commission.
I called Sprint today and was told that I have the option to return the equipment and get 2 replacement phones (different models) and that I would have to wait for my upgrade to get the Evo's again. Why would I wait a year and a half to upgrade my phones!?
Is there an escalation path so I can have Sprint send me 2 replacements in the mail and I'll send these 2 back? I don't want to go through insurance since I just got the phones and I refuse to pay $200 to get 2 devices shipped to me when I just got the phones.
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place and need some advice. I asked the rep if I could return the Evo's and use 2 Sprint phones I already own without a contract and she stated that I would still be on a contract. How does this make sense? I thought that if you own the phones there wouldn't be a contract. I hate calling because I get different answers every time and I don't want to be stuck with the bad batches for almost 2 years.
I m in same boat as you
But Sprint is sending me a new one overnite
Just explained that rs and my local corp Sprint store would do nothing
Sent from my Evo on on the Now network from Sprint
oh and duck Apple
Dude how did you get them to send you one if you bought it at Radioshack?

You bought it at RadioShack and Sprint helped you? I tried this and got turned down.
You do not need to use insurance on a phone for warranty issues. If you are paying for TEP (total equipment protection) you can walk into a sprint repair center (it's important that it's a repair center) and they can go through to see if it's repairable, supposedly they've been taught how to tighten the screen or if they can order a new one for you. It's hit or miss that it could be a refurb but I would raise a stink that you're within 30 days and don't want a refurb but a new phone.
I told them that I went to 3 rs stores and not one would order one for me

You should be able to have your account noted at RS that you want a replacement but there are no phones in stock.. RS is mailing me a replacement within the next 5 days,... They can extend the 30 day return period to 90 days if they do not have the item in inventory. Give it a shot.
i woudl escalate within sprints phone customer service. say you need replacemetns or you will cancel and get iphone 4. once you want to cancel tehy will transfer you to retentions whom have all the power to retain you as a customer.
do not trust the radioshack manager. be very weary of being able to do anything outside of 30 days.
I want to return mine too.
How bad does the issue have to be for them to consider replacing it?\There is also a bright spot on the phone that is very obvious on a white/light background, it kind of bothers me. I bought from Sprint.

RS can order replacements for you right now. No need to wait. Go in and ask, and if they claim they cant, call the district office number that's posted in their store. Easy-Peasy.

It's no different for us swapping the bad ones after 30 days, especially with the known inventory shortage. And if the guy says he'll do it, there's no reason not to trust him. The negative attitudes towards store workers is effing annoying.

actually, expand that to all front line workers. i don't know if it's because they're not knowledgeable, lazy, or downright malicious, but they are always making promises that never materialize.
what i would do is email sprint customer care... they will write you back and then you will have something in writing... safest way to go about doing this. as a backup plan, sign up for TEP... worse comes to worst you'll at least be able to commit insurance fraud, drop $100 and get a new device.
Went to Radio Shack yesterday to swap out my phone and they had it reduced to $219.99 . I had bought two of them at the Irvine,ca location and received $60 dollars back!!!
Edit :
Radio Shack will price match the phone if it goes on sale within 30days of the purchase date. For those like myself who bought on release day the 9/30 would be the last day for price match!

Wirefly has it for $199 with Free activation. ;o
damn I just got mine last weekend and paid 250 for it, I'm going back this weekend to get the price difference back.
I love Radio Shacks policies on this sort of stuff, by far the best to deal with when it comes to these things.
Thanks for posting, you just saved me some cash!
You are saying if we purchased the phone full the $250 ANYTIME, we can go and get money back for the reduced CURRENT price? Or only recently?
From what I can find, if the price drops within 30days of the CONTRACT opening date, then you can get the price difference? I opened the contract/purchased the phone on the 31st, today 30th is the final day of my 30 days.
I'm going to go to them and ask if I can get my $30 bucks back in the morning.
IMO even if the shack offers the lower price for the phone, it comes at a cost; the cost of only dealing with radio shack when it comes to any cell phone issues. I was debating this issue when i was switching to sprint.
I talked to a rep over the phone and she said that if i switched to sprint through a third party, everything has to be dealt with that third party. that also means radio shack does not have the authority to waive activation fees , waive restocking fee for phones if you decide to siwtch phones during the 30 day trial period. I decided to go with an official sprint store and got a heck of a deal. You just gotta let them know that youre serious and you want the best deal.
The sprint store rep hooked me up with waived activation fees for two lines, an extra battery for my epic, the offer to waive the restocking fee if i wanted to swtich phones to somehting else, completed my rebate for me, hooked me up with cool apps etc.
I dont mean to make your thread look bad , but i just wanna inform ya, and plus i cant sleep right now. for the 20$ difference i would still go to a official sprint store. just my two cents

Theres a flaw in your logic.
Radioshack THEMSELVES is not able to waive the activation fee. BUT as a Sprint Premiere customer, you can call up sprint and have THEM waive the activation. Which I did, and had 2 activation fees removed (from my Epic, and an upgrade on another line on my family plan)
$250 withOUT a mail-in rebate, + addition $30 difference refund is the cheapest you will be able to get the phone offline. In my experience Radioshack was pretty easy to deal with when getting a exchange (which I did for my 1st Epic with faulty battery).
So really, all you got was a free battery out of it. Which is a good deal in any case, but really the freebie is just to get your commission. When my friend got her Evo from Radioshack, they hooked her up with a free battery, case, and car charger! Anything for your business right?
got my $30 back! radioshack's fine..they swapped my phone out twice and after 30 days im a free man
if we bought on launch day, can we still go back today for the difference, I bought 2, so 60 bucks off would be nice.
I bought mine on launch and the other a week after. You have 30 day price guarantee

I'm getting conflicting answers!
I called one Radioshack, and they straight up said NO THE 29TH WAS THE LAST DAY TO DO IF YOU BOUGHT IT ON LAUNCH DAY.
Then another straight up said NO WE DON'T DO PRICE MATCH PERIOD.
Then another said, Yeah sure we can do the price match, today is the LAST day of the 30 days.
***EDIT***
I'm about to go to my Radioshack and ask them about the 'Price Protection'. I just spoke with another Radioshack store manager, and he said that TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF THE 30 DAYS FROM LAUNCH DAY, but that we are STILL eligible for the price protection. He said that if MY radioshack refuses to refund my money, that if I contacted him, he would call up the Sprint district manager to *personally* contact my store for the refund.
People, if your Radioshack tries to say YESTERDAY was the last day, don't be scared to put your foot down.

"Technically" Today is day 31. 31st being day 1, plus 29 days = 9/29.

Thats if you look at the day of purchase as being a day.
I bought my Epic on the launch day (31st), and opened my contract on the 31st. They stated that you have 30 days from opening the contract which doesn't count the 31st as a "day".
I called Sprint to ask about adding insurance to my line which HAS to be done within 30 days of opening the contract TODAY, and the Sprint rep said TODAY is the last day of the 30 days to add insurance.
I know 'technically' that today is the 31st day. But contract wise, today is the 30th day.
I was told that my 2 year contract expired on the 30th of 2012, was also told I could add insurance up till the 30th. so radio shack should honor this, my store is kind of difficult so I'll make sure they notate that i was in there and they said no if they give me issues then insist on speaking to a district manager or call radioshack on the phone,
So I successfully got my 30 refunded.
It wasn't easy and my RS said that today was my 31st day. I went off on them in the store because they don't state that the 30 days starts on the day of purchase.
They ended up having to call sprint to over ride the system to allow my refund. I'm glad they went through the trouble to get my refund back but they shouldn't advertise a price protection policy if they don't wanna follow through with it.
My 30 days end today so I won't be dealing with radioshack anymore either way.
posted from a EPIC4G.
Our radioshack reps are greatly helpfull to us always without a doubt. So it goes without sayin, i got a refund of 30 something dollars. Thank guys for the heads up.

i went to the shack and got $60 back..
Thanks O.P. !
Thanks OP i went and got 90 bucks back
yea, I got my 63 dollars back, 2 phones, 30 dollars each plus tax, although at my radioshack, trying to do anything with wireless phones requires 15 trys and an hour of my time. I was a little annoyed by the end.
I purchased a Galaxy Tab on 12/27/10. It's my understanding I had 15 days to return the device. At this point, does anyone know if Best Buy would accept a return with a re-stock fee, or am I SOL?
THanks
John
Sorry I can't help.
John , I would just go and see what they say. However, I have not had good success getting electronic retailers to break their policies.
I was literally about to head to ATT to return mine when I saw this thread. I was told when I bought the tab that it was a 30 day return policy. I asked.
Just looked at the receipt and it clearly states that its a 14 day return policy unless you get a contract, which I didn't do. Oh well, I should have read it when I bought it.
Best Buy dropped their Restocking fee policy around christmas. You'll be fine. Just hurry up.
If you happen to be in California, retailers are required to offer a 30 day return policy on electronics (including phones) regardless of what the typical company policy is.
Nevermind, i see your in Ohio...
Was able to return my Galaxy Tab to Best Buy today after 29 days. I felt lucky since their online policy is 14 days.
I returned because of the lack of love, the lack of updates, and the rumors of newer tabs on the way.
Well, here is my dilemma:
My wife signed me up for Verizon, and got me the Samsung Continuum for free from them. Had I known about this, I would of definitely done more research, and got at least a phone that's not EOL. Either way, I'm sorta happy with the phone after I rooted it and it's now using Froyo.
This is all hypothetically speaking, but since I'm still in the 14 days, could I order a free phone from wirefly(probably Incredible 2 or X2) get that activated as a 2nd line, and drop my original line, and have it back as a single line with no ETF within the 14 days? I would be basically just upgraded to the free X2 or I2 and dropping this dead device I have now? Had I known all of this in advance, I would of just of went through wirefly start with, but I didn't know it was even happening until I got home from work and was handed it as a anniversary gift.
Or are there any other clever ways to get around this. Could I just drop the service I have now altogether, and then sign up again through wirefly or walmart and get the free Incredible 2?
Any help on this would be appreciated, thanks.
yes you can take it back before the 14 days are up and yull just have to pay a 34$ restocking fee then u can get whatever phone u want however you only get 2 returns in those 14 days. and i believe how the data usage goes u pay by how many nights u used it or atleast thats how it was when i returned that mifi thing.
I understand I can exchange my phone, but it was ordered through Verizon Wireless online, and if I wanted to exchange it, it would cost me $200 to upgrade to the Incredible 2. Is there a way I can return it, while keeping the service active, and order a free Incredible 2 through wirefly or walmart, and it be my main line.
Yes I was actually talking to them about doing that for me bassicly u diactivate it at the verizon store and go get whatever phone u whant and have that store activate it the only problem is the rep at the vw store looses the cometition and you won't be able to keep your number. Just talk to the sales rep at vw it maybe a hit or miss getting them to do that because of the whole commission thing.
Sent from my de binged samsung continuum
Woah, the problem is the contract I think: you can put any device you want on your existing Verizon acct, but IIRC Wirefly requires a NEW account for their free phones.
Try walmart or bestbuy
And the contract isn't a problem because as long as your in the 14 day grace period your fine.
