Aria screen glass coming loose. - HTC Aria General

Hey all, this is my first post from the native app. Cool. I just wanted to put a question out to see if anyone else may be experiencing this issue. I have one of the first ones sold, as I bought it the day before it actually went on sale due to some CS issues I had with ATT. I took the back cover off to access my SD card and realized that the top part of the glass is coming loose from the housing. It appears as if it is put on with adhesive that is not working to well. I would appreciate it if anyone else has notice this if they could let me, and others know. I am going to ATT after work to show them. I am sure this is going to be a hassle.

I'm seeing the same thing on my Aria- I bought mine roughly 2 weeks ago, and am seeing evidence that the top left and right corners of the screen glass are coming loose.
Any luck with talking to AT&T about this? I'd like to see about getting mine replaced as well, so any tips from your efforts would be awesome.

[Q] How generous are T-Mobile with replacement phones?

I ordered my Slide online the day it was released. It WORKS fine. The issue I have with it is so minor, many people may not normally notice it. Basically, when I slide the keyboard out, the left side of the screen stops a fraction of an inch before the right. I'm talking like maybe 1/6th of an inch or something, very minor.
I do have a small scuff on the top corner of the phone where I dropped it, though the drop was not the cause of the issue.
Is this anything you would try to exchange your phone for? Am I being too picky? Would they simply tell me no?

I have been with T-Mobile for over 5 years and any time I have had a problem no matter how small they have replaced my phone with no question. I have the mt3gs and have had it for 2 months and I am having a issue with it and they suggested right off to just send me a replacement so this week it should be here. They don't really care about scuff marks though I never have dropped mine so not sure. They refurbish them anyway so don't sweat it...
Well think of it like this, I had an hd2, had some data troubles (region specific). Went Through 3 hd2's before they were allowed to exchange. Offered me a blackberry said no I wanted the slide. They sent me a new in box slide and I got to keep the hd2, all free.
Id say that's rather generous

That's very generous, did you have to threaten to leave or anything? Also how long have you been with tmo?

I guess it certainly won't hurt to give them a call then! Thanks!

No, it's just their basic policy (sort of). Let me explain. I was past the 14 day period... but had issues with the phone... being that i was within the 1 year warranty they did an HD2 exchange (sent out refurb). I still had the same data issue, so i called back and asked if i could get different phone because it doesnt appear to be a defective handset, just perhaps bad in this area. They said "yes, but you need to have at least 3 phone replacements in a 90day period before they have that option" so a few phones later i called back asking for a phone swap... (They conclude "similar phone" based on price)
They offered me a BB 9800(?) because it has similar MSRP and business features. I said would prefer an android device (was hoping for the vibrant but its msrp is 499) so they offered me a MTS ($430).
The slide wasnt in the (available options) on their page so they had to set it up manually.. which meant it was technically a new phone purchase at full value... so they just charged the full value on the account... and credited it back on the same invoice...
Which is why i got to keep the HD2
Also ive been with tmo for quite some time around 9 years or so... maybe a little less
LOL. Chatting with a rep online right now about it. I explained that one side of the keyboard popped out further than the other and she told me we'd have to do a master reset. I told her I didn't think that would work.
Yeah, they're replacing it. Yippee!
yeah their a good company when it comes to replacing phones. I went throw 3 G1's. Ones battery life was horrible for some reason. Replaced. Second was the replacement that got stolen in the mail.......that was a ***** just make sure you CHECK THE PACKAGE when before you sign for it, my sister thought it was ok to take an empty box from the person thinking it was to send mine back but really the driver jacked the phone. Third. I bricked my G1 pretending to be a developer and messing with things i shouldnt have been.
GL with your replacement bro
Hi I have a quick question I do a lot of deals on craigslist when it comes to phones. I get bored of something then put it on craigslist for trade. I currently have the mytouch slide and my issue is the camera. I've googled it quite a few people have this problem. The camera is just blurry I tried auto focus the whole 9. The thing is I got it from a personal sale/trade. Would tmobile still be able to replace it? I want to call CC but want to see you guys opinions first. Thanks in advance.

Yup, that was why I had to send my first slide in.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Per company policy you can do 1 instore warrenty exchange for a brand new slide instead of the possible refurbished replacement you could get from customer care. Make sure its a corporate store and if they tell you no they can't. Tell them to look it up on streamline they will know what you mean.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
I just received an replacement slide. Mine had the fuzzy camera issue.
The replacement came does not come with battery nor back cover, nor any other accessories at all. I should have exchanged it at the corp store instead.
At least the camera works better and has a new revision "XD" My old one is revision "XC"
You have to have 3 replacement phones before they can offer you the vibrant. And you will have to pay the difference in price.

So im thinking about returning mine because of the blurry camera issue but the moisture indicator under the battery is partly red. Basically it looks as if the corner of the battery kept rubbing on it from all the times I had to remove it while trying to root. Do any of you think it will be an issue? I thought that I read something before about there being multiple indicators in the phone, the one on the battery is still all the way white.
They definitely asked about the moisture indicator and told me that if it is red, I will be charged $100 out of warranty fee for the replacement.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Its only partly red so I'm hoping they will just ignore it. The phones never been near water I really think its just red where the corner of battery drags accross it
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
thats a lie i try to exchange to a different phone and they tell me that they will give me the same disney phone they exchange it 3 times already thats nuts
They will charge you. And its not from ur battery rubbing it.
Did u take it in the bathroom when you got a shower or hot bath? Biggest place for moisture to get in phone and not know it. Still $100 isn't bad to replace a water dmged phone

I'm on my 3rd slide an the one I had before this one got a little wet. some how on the back an the. moisture indicator on it turned red. so when I recieved the replacement
Phone I just took the new white. sticker off an put it on the phone I. was sending back. Never heard anything else about it so guess it worked. Hee hee

Gutted lost sim cover

Decided to pop into town today and look for a new case for my shiny DHD showed the lady on the market but unfortunately no cases just yet. Got back to my car removed my phone and found my sim cover was missing, in a frantic rush I retraced my tracks had a chat with the lady on the market with no luck.. I'm now totally gutted! I did notice the cover was not a very good fit from the start.
Anyone know where I could get a replacement?
Thanks!

That sucks, yesterday I went looking for a case but all I could find was a sock with micro-fibre lining (still a pretty poor fit), anywho getting to the point one shop I visited tried to squeeze my phone into a Krusell case, needless to say it didn't fit and my SIM cover was left behind inside the case. Fortunately I spotted it and retrieved it. Incidentally carphone warehouse advertise the Krusell cases as being compatible on their website, it's a lie I tells thee.
P.S. after giving up my search I went to GAME on oxford street and bumped into Jason Bradbury from The Gadget Show who had just been doing interviews about the Desire HD, and he seemed to like it. Funnily enough though he didn't seem all that knowledgable about technology.
Just realised my phone will not work without the sim cover(showing no signal), seems there are two electrical connectors which connect to my lost sim cover.. Even more gutted now!
If anyone knows where I can get one then please let me know... Thanks
You should contact HTC. They will hopefully understand and you can buy a new cover from them, if not get one free
Certified service/repair shops can also order you pretty much any part of the phone.
Thanks guys shall get onto it tomorrow

OMG, I pactically had to find a pair of mole grips to get my cover off! You must have not replaced it properly as it really is a tight fit.
But I do hope you get a replacement soon mate, I can imagine how miserable it must be
Makes me wonder about the continuity of these things, I remember out of the box my cover just slid off with virtually no resistance. I have raised my issue with HTC and T-Mobile but still a little in "no man's land" After speaking to HTC and because the phone is new there seems to be no spares just yet, but they are trying to elevate my problem and hoping for a solution.
Sadly for now its back to my Satio which considering the brief affair with my DHD it’s like going from a Bugatti Veyron back to a steam powered Hillman Imp
Wrecked my Sim cover on day one!!
I was trying to take it off unsuccessfully. My fingers were not getting any purchase and were just sliding off the cover so i took a cloth and gripped the sides of the cover a little too firmly as it turned out. The cover came off and then promptly folded neatly in half. Noooooooooooooooooo! Luckily it did fit back on and the contacts meet so I still get reception and can use the phone, but there is an obvious crease down the back of the cover that will turn into an obvious split soon.
Granted I applied too much force, but I could not remove it otherwise. It is extremely thin and flimsy plastic and given the much touted 'build quality' of the single piece of metal backplate, the Sim cover is a joke.
So, I need a new one too. On my first day. Unbelievable. Let this be a warning. If you too have a Hulk-like grip, get someone else to remove the Sim cover for you.
Otherwise she is a beauty
Does anyones cover actually fit properly - i.e without a gap between it and the phone?
If anyone gets a minute could they post an image of their sim cover looking at the inside, I would like to cobble something together to get my phone running temporary
Big thanks..
Sim covers are being sent out of Thailand as we speak. I got this info from HTC NL, so I don't know whats up with UK.
Glad to receive my new cover soon .
Couple of pics of the sim cover for you. they dont seem to connect together. but there does seem to be something under the surface of the cover.
Thanks for posting the pics what a star! Yes it seems to not make a loop contact so bang goes my theory of a piece of foil...
Quick updats, just had a call from HTC they are sending me out a new cover very good service on their part and T-Mobile said they would send me out a new phone, a bit of an over kill me thinks. Both options are going through the motions and I shall need to cancel the T-Mobile option? Its the usual story waiting for a train and along comes.....
yeah, that was my first thought. im guessing its the antenna. no cover, no sim, no signal. at least your getting it sorted now. couple of days of no phone isnt the worst thing ever...well.
Images of inside of Sim Cover
As requested, pictures of inside of Sim cover. Please let us know if you find a supplier for a Sim cover, mine is not long for this world. Cheers Midge
Edit
Haha just noticed some pictures already posted, still its the thought..... Glad to hear HTC being helpful. I will try them for a new cover too.
I'm really surprised by this because mine, like a few others' was a real struggle to remove when I got it. Seems like an issue with some covers since the part it joins to will be strictly controlled.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Strange. I tested it on my Desire HD. Without the SIM-cover it still had full GSM/GPRS signal. Only HSDPA connection was lost.
With the cover on I get 3-5 bars HSDPA signal on this location.
Sorry to hear your news skins....Ive said it before it seems some have good ones, some have bad, mine is just fine, well its a bit too tight, bad quality control i reckon...hope you get it sorted soon.
Thanks for the pics, Interesting what was said about getting a signal with the cover off, I may just try it with 10 yards of foil trailing behind me, desperate measures
T-Mobile called earlier to say they are still out of stock and unknown when new DHD's will be in so I'm still waiting and keeping both options open to see which one arrives first.. Its getting there but been a damn long week so far!

[Q] Minor but HIGHLY annoying issue

I just got my new, re-manufactured replacement Evo from the Sprint store, to replace my original Evo, which the GPS went out on.
This new phone works alright, but there's a "click" feeling when you press anywhere on the left side of the touchscreen, like it's not glued down all the way or something is de-laminating internally. I'm worried it's gonna cause the touchscreen to start acting up right around the time the warranty expires, not to mention it's damn annoying to use.
I've let 3 other people mess with my phone and they've all made the comment the screen felt "loose" or creaky.
My question is, do you think Sprint would replace this phone for this problem alone? I feel kind of cheated since up until the GPS broke my last Evo was perrrrfect and now I've got a kind of defected one. :\
You should just have them replace the screen for you, I believe it's free.. no point in replacing the phone if it's working well for you. You might end up with a bad phone if they replace it for you...that's only my opinion, but yeah.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
They'll probably charge you $35 for convenience even though they gave you a piece of crap.
I had a similar issue with my first replacement evo.. the whole thing creaked if you flexed the phone or squeezed it between your fingers and just made it feel cheap. I found out that when they refurbished mine they didn't tighten all the hex screws under the rear cover of the phone very well at all. If you have the right bit, tighten all your screws in the back of the phone, or have the sprint store do it and see if that fixes your issue. It did mine.
- Mike
This is actually the screen separation issue. They gave you a phone with issues and should replace the replacement.

Yeah, I agree. I remember when I got old replacement phones in the past, they seemed like brand new. These refurbished EVOs they are sending out just seem to have more signs and problems of use than it seems phones did in the past.

Asurion refurbs have always sucked, they just didn't have any for awhile so they had to use new ones.
I had them install a new screen today which seemed to have fixed the the creaking/separation issue.
Great to hear, glad your problem has been resolved!

Is Google Shipping Used Phones?

I received my N4 today (Canadian, ordered Dec 3). The phone seems okay aside from the SIM slot rattle.
But, the inside of the box, the part that cradles the phone, is crumpled with torn corners. Like someone would do if anxious to get the phone out.
Did I get someone else's RMA'd phone?
Or far more likely, they were put in the box at the factory in a sloppy fashion, or even more likely, once Google/LG shipped the first batches, and got a handle on the types of problems people were complaining of, rather than carrying on shipping them, they did a QA check for specific issues on the stock they had.
Ultimately, if you are happy with the unit, who cares? Stop trying to find problems.....

No, I've seen a few brand new boxes and the part you're talking about has been as you've described in all of them.
Mine didn't have the black stickers that hold the black box together after i took off the slider i could just open it.
Also there was no foil in the aliminum bezzle like I saw in unboxings...
Is that normal? Or was it opened before?

When I revived mine I could see previous black tape under the new one that had already been cut and it was sealed with new pieces. But its all good the phone still works perfectly and it is awesome!

[Q] Screen/digitizer ungluing

Bottom left corner of my screen appears to be coming off. The corner is unglued and when you press you can see it moving. At the left side of the screen it also looks like light from outside is bleeding in between the LCD and the digitizer.
Has anyone had any problems with this? I'd take the phone apart and fix it, but if something goes wrong, I don't have the budget to get it repaired or get another phone all suggestions are welcome.
I had this exact same problem, I took it for warranty repairs, they replaced the digitzer, but the new one also seems to be a bit lose in the middle part of the phone, as when I press it it moves very slightly, send it back a second time, they said it was normal, and only if it came of like the first time (the right corner) then i should send it gain to them. The guys form the shop (a very big shop in Romania) said it was a known issue.

I am waiting for a response on the warranty, if it's negative, I guess I'll have to start saving for a new phone screen, or at least the materials I need to try and fix it myself.
They have to accept it for warranty repairs if it wasn't dropt or smth like that, I'm also thinking of sending a complaint to LG on how my screen was repaired.
Never heard about this problem, probably the shop used non original parts.

It's a genuine G2 bought from a reputable source as brand new. Looking on reddit, I see I am not the only one with this issue.

So, just to post an update. The screen has been replaced under warranty, the phone should be here in a day or two.
Sweet.
EDIT: phone arrived today. New display (digitizer+LCD) and new front frame. Looks very good, and it does not protrude any more. I'm a happy bunny

I just read this post of yours, turns out, the same thing is happening to my phone. The corners are now solid, but the middle is letting go. *sigh*
As I am due to start a new job soon (hopefully), I believe I will have the phone fixed somehow and give it to my girlfriend, and I'll get myself either a G3 or the new HTC One M9, if it comes out by then. As I don't have the mental strength to fight with the service again, and stay without my phone for another week.

I know what you say, I didn't insisted with the service because it took them 9 days (the 2nd time I've sent them the phone for the lose middle part) only to say they won;t be doing any other repairs.
I will mail LG Romania to ask them for some explanations, seeing that it's not an isolated case, and after that I will file a complaint to the national organization for consumer protection which has been pretty efficient in the past.
If I will manage to resolve this issue I will post back here.
Thank you for your effort and response, and please do let us know of your results.
