Decided to pop into town today and look for a new case for my shiny DHD showed the lady on the market but unfortunately no cases just yet. Got back to my car removed my phone and found my sim cover was missing, in a frantic rush I retraced my tracks had a chat with the lady on the market with no luck.. I'm now totally gutted! I did notice the cover was not a very good fit from the start.
Anyone know where I could get a replacement?
Thanks!

That sucks, yesterday I went looking for a case but all I could find was a sock with micro-fibre lining (still a pretty poor fit), anywho getting to the point one shop I visited tried to squeeze my phone into a Krusell case, needless to say it didn't fit and my SIM cover was left behind inside the case. Fortunately I spotted it and retrieved it. Incidentally carphone warehouse advertise the Krusell cases as being compatible on their website, it's a lie I tells thee.
P.S. after giving up my search I went to GAME on oxford street and bumped into Jason Bradbury from The Gadget Show who had just been doing interviews about the Desire HD, and he seemed to like it. Funnily enough though he didn't seem all that knowledgable about technology.
Just realised my phone will not work without the sim cover(showing no signal), seems there are two electrical connectors which connect to my lost sim cover.. Even more gutted now!
If anyone knows where I can get one then please let me know... Thanks
You should contact HTC. They will hopefully understand and you can buy a new cover from them, if not get one free
Certified service/repair shops can also order you pretty much any part of the phone.
Thanks guys shall get onto it tomorrow

OMG, I pactically had to find a pair of mole grips to get my cover off! You must have not replaced it properly as it really is a tight fit.
But I do hope you get a replacement soon mate, I can imagine how miserable it must be
Makes me wonder about the continuity of these things, I remember out of the box my cover just slid off with virtually no resistance. I have raised my issue with HTC and T-Mobile but still a little in "no man's land" After speaking to HTC and because the phone is new there seems to be no spares just yet, but they are trying to elevate my problem and hoping for a solution.
Sadly for now its back to my Satio which considering the brief affair with my DHD it’s like going from a Bugatti Veyron back to a steam powered Hillman Imp
Wrecked my Sim cover on day one!!
I was trying to take it off unsuccessfully. My fingers were not getting any purchase and were just sliding off the cover so i took a cloth and gripped the sides of the cover a little too firmly as it turned out. The cover came off and then promptly folded neatly in half. Noooooooooooooooooo! Luckily it did fit back on and the contacts meet so I still get reception and can use the phone, but there is an obvious crease down the back of the cover that will turn into an obvious split soon.
Granted I applied too much force, but I could not remove it otherwise. It is extremely thin and flimsy plastic and given the much touted 'build quality' of the single piece of metal backplate, the Sim cover is a joke.
So, I need a new one too. On my first day. Unbelievable. Let this be a warning. If you too have a Hulk-like grip, get someone else to remove the Sim cover for you.
Otherwise she is a beauty
Does anyones cover actually fit properly - i.e without a gap between it and the phone?
If anyone gets a minute could they post an image of their sim cover looking at the inside, I would like to cobble something together to get my phone running temporary
Big thanks..
Sim covers are being sent out of Thailand as we speak. I got this info from HTC NL, so I don't know whats up with UK.
Glad to receive my new cover soon .
Couple of pics of the sim cover for you. they dont seem to connect together. but there does seem to be something under the surface of the cover.
Thanks for posting the pics what a star! Yes it seems to not make a loop contact so bang goes my theory of a piece of foil...
Quick updats, just had a call from HTC they are sending me out a new cover very good service on their part and T-Mobile said they would send me out a new phone, a bit of an over kill me thinks. Both options are going through the motions and I shall need to cancel the T-Mobile option? Its the usual story waiting for a train and along comes.....
yeah, that was my first thought. im guessing its the antenna. no cover, no sim, no signal. at least your getting it sorted now. couple of days of no phone isnt the worst thing ever...well.
Images of inside of Sim Cover
As requested, pictures of inside of Sim cover. Please let us know if you find a supplier for a Sim cover, mine is not long for this world. Cheers Midge
Edit
Haha just noticed some pictures already posted, still its the thought..... Glad to hear HTC being helpful. I will try them for a new cover too.
I'm really surprised by this because mine, like a few others' was a real struggle to remove when I got it. Seems like an issue with some covers since the part it joins to will be strictly controlled.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Strange. I tested it on my Desire HD. Without the SIM-cover it still had full GSM/GPRS signal. Only HSDPA connection was lost.
With the cover on I get 3-5 bars HSDPA signal on this location.
Sorry to hear your news skins....Ive said it before it seems some have good ones, some have bad, mine is just fine, well its a bit too tight, bad quality control i reckon...hope you get it sorted soon.
Thanks for the pics, Interesting what was said about getting a signal with the cover off, I may just try it with 10 yards of foil trailing behind me, desperate measures
T-Mobile called earlier to say they are still out of stock and unknown when new DHD's will be in so I'm still waiting and keeping both options open to see which one arrives first.. Its getting there but been a damn long week so far!

Anyone know where i can get another battery door? my kaiser fell and has picked up a bunch of huge knicks on the back. lmk thanks
anyone? my battey door is actually now broken from one side and it wont close (sadly its practically half opened from the back heh)
I would like to know where to get one too. I have some modification ideas and I need a couple to experiment on.
just called customer service you can order directly from htc only the price are crazy...
I hate the rubberized cover
I wish OEMs start making non-rubberized replacement covers. If we cried out loud that Black Trinity's Batt Cover is a fingerprints trap, Kaiser's original cover is a dirt trap and every new casual touch adds to it's sorry look.
The only solution I found yet is BodyGuardz rear transparent part..
BTW rubberized does not and should not mean doing it poorly. My IBM Thinkpad cover follows the same concept, but is much tougher to both touch and scratch..
Any ideas ?

I just called HTC America to see if I could get a spare back cover for my TyTN II. Well, they don't carry that part because "it's not a US model". OK, I then ask for a back cover for the Tilt and she responds "We don't carry parts for OEM branded HTC devices". So I replied, "Great, why do you exist?" She replied "we carry very few parts". What a great company. So it's off to AT&T? I'm not thinking I'll get much love there...
So, I am now very interested in finding a source for the back cover that will ship to the USA.
hopefully the folks at www.cnn.cn will have them in the next couple of months. i purchased replacement casing for my Trinity and my Q from them in the past..
yeah, ive already called ATT, they dont have any extra parts for the tilt yet. i figured HTC would want atleast $45 - 50 for the piece ahh. im going to call them up today. thanks anyways guys

cnn has the largest range of spare part, and is one of the most reliable online stores, just send them an email, and they will try to get the items in as quick as possible.

Go to any service center and order the door they should have this part.I ordered in Romania and in 3 day they bring the piece ( original part OEM ) and cost 20 USD with VAT (TVA,tax). Not cheep but original part .
So any new regarding this? I'd be interested to know! And there are other threads showing how to "dismantle" the kaiser, we could do some Tutorial on how to proceed
It may be worth waiting for the mega capacity batteries that are too big to fit in the usual battery space. They usually come with a new extended cover.
That way you could kill two birds with one stone - better battery capacity and a free replacement battery cover.
im looking for one too, but a cover for the tilt with no camera.
If i could get my hands on a battery cover with no camera hole, i would do a dismanteling tutorial.
Found one "special order"
My phone fell and the little plastic cover on top of the camera broke. Tried to fix it but doesn't look nice. I just found a back door (special order), hopefully it will arrive in like 2 weeks not 2 months.

I dont know how I lost it but the little rubber piece on the battery cover next to the camera is gone.
Anyone know where I could buy this at?
Look up At&t8525 Parts Phone on Ebay
Have you try EBAY,You might have to look up(( At&T 8525 For Parts)) or Dealer. This should help you.
I have one shoot me a pm and we can work something out.
Get find any rubber piece in eBay.
Anyone got one, please PM me, I want to get sooner the better.
Mine fell off a few months back also, I am contemplating walking into a att store and taking one off of their demo model
mine rubber pieces got lost ages agoe
i dont really care
it's not like putting it in makes it waterproof or anything
My grommit fell out and got lost when I first got the phone but the local Softbank shop here in Kyoto were lovely; they ordered a new one and had it delivered it to my home address at no charge whatsoever. (Did I mention that the salesgirl was cute, too?) Perfect service! Kudos to you Softbank (And the lovely salesgirl).
So I'm one of the North American users who got the devices attached to the gay leather pouches that are attached with screws.. Ive removed the 3 screws and the leather case because it's anoying...
I currently have 3 Sharp metal screws protruding (the 3 screws removed drilled into these)
I found out the Part numbers for the proper screws and the rubber feet to cover them.
76H01969-00M X 1
76H01968-00M X 1
76H02025-00M X 1
72H01821-00M X 3
Now I've contacted HTC numerous times over e-mail. Asking where to order... half the time they wont respond, the other times they say you cannot purchase parts, and I have to send my device in to be repaired...
I don't want it repaired, I just want these 3 screws, and the proper rubber feet...
Does anyone know where I can buy these HTC parts listed above? I'd be indebt!
I remember a postiing here about someone who had perfected his "gay" shift without having to send it a correctional facillity
Just did a minute search but couldn't find the posting, it should be around though.
Anyone with better search qualities ? It's about someone who crafted a solution himself.
lol,
I refuse to use that leather case, and the screw mounts are just scraping the crap out of my desk because they come out further than the case... haha
Only reason why I leave them on is because I drag this thing around and don't want it falling apart on me when I'm out.
Ordering parts not possible!
I recently had the vent on my device broken, I honestly do not have a clue how it got broken but it got to a point that I just want to fix it. I called HTC hoping it will be done under warranty, I was wrong! Firstly I was charged £250 to fix a simple wire gauze on the vent at the back of the device, I refused and told them to pack my device and send it back...except that it will cost me about £50 for the luxury of their diagnosis of a cosmetic issue.
I was appaled and requested for my device anyway, I had to log on to their repair website to pay to have it back, this time, I saw that the price has gone down to £135 to replace the tiny gauze or half that just to get the item back...I paid.
I was asked for me feedback, I advised them they're better off without asking me!
I'm shocked that HTC handles things in this kind of fashion...
I used to have an HP iPaq HW6955... I used that phone forever, no issues for years...
Finally towards the end, small things kept breaking... HP had a website where you could order parts... And to my surprise they were cheap as hell too...
Did probably 5-7 repair jobs myself until one day some random idiot shoulder checked me into a cement wall and the phone was at the end of its days (on my hip between me and the wall) RIP! hahha
Still, I can't beleive HTC doesn't provide these types of services.
The solution on this forum is what you need

The solution I remember the guy talking about was that he sanded off or polished something... no pun intended here.
Anyway, he found a way to order some screws that would fit his holes, from his device that is, and he was a happy gaymer afterwards.
I tried "digging deeper", but couln't find that posting. Damn, I know it will be a solution for you. Try yourself too.
I bought an HTC Aria off ebay and it arrived last week. After getting it charged, I put my sim in, and was getting no signal. After playing with it for a while, I recalled that there were some quirky things having to do with the battery cover having to be installed correctly for the antenna to work. I talked with a friend who has an Aria and yes, there are two metal tabs inside the battery cover that make contact for the antenna. I tried my Aria with the battery cover from my friend's phone with the metal tabs and it works fine. The Aria that I bought off ebay doesn't have these tabs (but it doesn't look like anything was removed), and yet the seller claims (that her son told her) the phone worked fine when she sold it to me. So, I'm wondering, if there are two different Aria's out there in the wild one where the antenna is attached to the battery cover, and one where they fixed the hardware so its not needed and I got a mismatch of two phones and battery covers, and because of that does not work.
Has anyone else had this problem and had/or any luck making a replacement set of antennas? I tried a couple of pieces of wire, but it seemed to not make much of a difference. There is an OEM Aria battery cover for sale on ebay, that I probably will get provided the seller will ever answer my questions.

I would say to just get a new cover, should not be much. If your phone is an AT&T phone it should have the metal tabs, if it's from somewhere else then maybe it's possible there is a different cover but I doubt it. If I were selling my Aria on e-bay I would surely make sure it works before sending it out, but that's just me. Cheers.
There are battery covers available on ebay, and that's probably where I'll end up getting one, one seller had them for @$15.
I too purchased my Aria on eBay, and in my search I noticed that this (Arias sold without the OEM antenna-in-battery-cover) is not an uncommon problem, especially for devices that are being sold at a lower price. The phone is designed such that you will get minimal/no signal without the OEM battery cover, which does contain the phone's antennas. Apparently your hardware works just fine, and the battery cover that you were provided with is clearly not OEM.
It looks like there are OEM battery covers for the Aria on eBay, but I would require the seller to provide you with a picture of the inside of the cover, showing the metal contacts of the antenna, before you commit to purchasing. I would probably also contact the seller of the Aria and request reimbursement for the cost of a new battery cover, since the phone is virtually useless in its current state.
I already have. Hope to have a fully functional Aria soon.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
If the lady doesn't want to reimburse you for the price of the OEM battery cover, I'd file a complaint with Paypal. You can take a picture of your friend's battery cover next to yours and explain about the antenna leads. Chances are you will get your money back and you'll probably get to keep the Aria as well. Something's hinky about this lady and her claims that it worked just fine before. She or her son is lying.
Already talked to her about it. Already took the picture. May go ahead and contact ebay come thursday just so they're in the loop.
You should definitely open an ebay case. You can just request enough money from the seller to get a new battery cover if you think they really didn't know about the defect when they sold it.
Well, my Aria is working with the replacement back cover, and surprise, the seller hasn't responded to my email about the cost. I'd hate to ruin her perfect feedback...

I'm sure she means well, but some people just don't know how to handle screwing up, and get embarrassed, defensive and downright nasty. Try and be polite but don't let her take advantage of you. get your money's worth - and take it up with ebay.
I am however glad that you figured out the issue and have a fully functioning phone! enjoy it! I'm running Liberated FR008 with the overclocking kernal+SetCPU (@824MHz interactive), and I just couldn't be happier with the phone.
GPS locks on almost instant, and everything runs awesome. Also I've purchased several OEM battery covers that all work perfect, but am about to buy one of the colored ones off ebay - I'm hoping it comes with the antenna!
I have a GS3 for att and a few hours after i bought the phone i noticed the back door cover is not snapping in on the bottom left side. After thinking i might be able to return the phone to the best buy i got it from and exchange it i decided to wait two days. Turns out my only option is returning not exchanging due to the high demand of the phone. I tried to call samsung to see if could possibly send me a back cover since all the hooplah about the back cover recall during production i figured it would not be a problem. I first tried to get this fixed through their live chat system. In the end they told me its not cover because its physical damage. I proceeded to call their support and see if they could give me the same answer. They in turn said I would have to send the phone to them but since I have no oter phone now I could not do that so I politely asked to speak to a manager but there were "on the phones" and "busy" so they took my number and told me they would call me back. Well.... I guess you can figure out what happened with that promise. I called a second time and after a 40 minute call it got me nowhere. They then told me on my second call that the back cover was not covered in the warranty because it was a "detachable part of the phone" and that it was an "accessory". I told them this does not make sense because isnt the battery considered detachable and an accessory? This time i asked for a manager again and I guess the managers were being lazy because not one of them wanted to speak with me because they were on "call" ironically. Can anyone help me with this situation any suggestions anything I can tell them to actually do something about this? I also already told them that all over the internet there were news about defective back covers during manufacturing and how it was pulled to be fixed and how people are posting pics of back cover issues also including on this forum! Im so aggravated with their customer support that i have a headache.
Look up on ebay to find a replacement. I know a lot of sites sell battery back covers and they aren't expensive

Because of the crazy demand of the phone, you may have to wait it out if you can't be without phone and hope BBY gets some stock in within your 30 day (?) exchange window.
If you absolutely can't wait, you may wanna try ebay for a replacement back, since it's been reported the the international doors work just as well. But that would require you to shell out some dough for something that isn't your fault
Stock back cover is crap, really poor decision from Samsung. Finger print magnet and slippery. Anyways there are tons of 3rd party replacement back covers anywhere from 2$ to 10$, with better decals or nice tactile texture some even metal or leather.
Check amazon or just Google.

I've read that some of the back covers block NFC. Be careful with what you get.

you can but on ebay, offical samsung back battery covers in white and blue. They are around $30.00 . I got mine a couple of days ago as I wanted an extra cover.
Wow, this is really poor customer service from Samsung. I had a loose battery door on my Motorola DX. I did online chat with rep, after 2 minutes of taking my info then she sent me a brand new battery door. Received in mail 2 days later.
I would say file a better business Bureau complaint. Everytime I have filed a complaint someone from the executive offices called me back. I filed one against LG and got them to replace my phone after sending it in for repair 3 times and all 3 times didn't fix it. I also had an issue with dell and filed a complaint and the escalation office called me and bent over backwards to make me happy. So I would suggest doing that and you will get a call back within a week guaranteed

First, the manufacturing issue had everything to do with the surface quality, not the fit issue.
Second, you need to learn to insert the cover properly. If you insert from the bottom and just press hard around the edge all the way around, it will fit in snuggly.
Third, if you still can't get the cover to assemble or break the cover in the process of forcing it in, just buy a replacement cover. It is not expensive and certainly not worth your time and effort to argue with Samsung over it, imho.

My thing is why should I have to spend money on something that was a defect. Thats not right as a company to make a customer do that for a less than a week old phone.
Just return the phone and get a new one.
First world problems suck. Thanks for sharing.
...
Put a case on it, and you'll never notice it again.
Call wherever you bought it, see if someone returned a defective one and have them swap the cover for you.
