3G Connection Issues
I am not an expert, however, now feel like one after my experience with Shift.
Have you liberated Shift? If yes, you need to attach using USB Tool and connect via Internet Sharing
Are you using multiple SIM Cards, if yes, I found having 1 connection seem to work best
In the other posts, make sure you use high performance on battery settings with using battery

Patience... patience...
Sometimes it's REALLY GOOD to wait a minute or 3 before one must conclude that stiff ain't working...
If all goes well, I must wait some 90 seconds after booting Vista, to get 3G network passed from WinMo to Vista.
I NEVER run the USB TOOL ever !! I do get internet from WinMo just like that. Even the liberated version does it by itself....
When in Vista: Open Control Center (button on top right of front face)
Tap on MODEM icon
After a few seconds or so you should see in top right of control cent window that you have connection to H/3G/E etc etc - one of those at least and the modem will now say ON and be annotated with the carriers name

Use DIamond as modem

Hey guys !
Is it possible to use TOUCH DIAMOND as modem for connecting to internet (internet sharing) when phone is connected to PC ?
is there any application that enables that option ?
please help
thnx
Greg
Yes, you can. Use Internet Sharing for that purpose - it's inbuilt in most recent ROMs. You usually share through USB or Bluetooth.
great
but how to enable it ?
i am using HTC 1.93 rom europe, official one.
where and how to do that ?
It actually comes built in to the most recent official roms as well. You go to start menu, them programs. There you will see an app called internet sharing. Click on that and then press connect at the bottom left hand corner. And presto. Internet is shared !!!
found it, great
thank you very much
if i did this could I use my unlimited internet usage on my phone contract??
You can't get better than this http://www.wmwifirouter.com/
Turn your Diamond into a wifi hot spot!

X1 tethering with mac

hey guys,
I tried to use usb tethering to a macbook today while I am at the airport... however unlike the blackjack2 that I have (which just work once I plug in and install the driver automatically) the x1 doesnt do anything. When I look into the internet setting I see the winmo device was connected... however as soon as I turn on internet sharing on the phone, the winmo device became disconnected
anyone have any idea what am I doing wrong?
Depends what you mean by tethering … If you mean using your X1 as a broadband modem, I've found that using the bluetooth DUN on OS X is the easiest method. If this meets your needs, (1.) establish a bluetooth pair between your macbook and X1. Then (2) on the X1 start up the internet sharing app and click connect. Your X1 should say "connected." Then (3) on your macbook open the bluetooth preference either from system preferences or the BT icon on the top bar by the clock. Select your X1 in the left sidebar. In the right-hand panel it will say 'not connected.' With your X1 selected go down to the 'perform tasks' button next to the minus sign in the bottom left-hand corner of the panel; select 'connect to network' and with any luck your status should change to connected and you should then be able to access the net on your macbook. Disconnect from either phone or macbook when finished.
I've tried to tether using USB, but haven't been successful. Don't think it works on the Mac becoz (I think) internet sharing requires ActiveSync on the PC which doesn't exist on OS X. I use MissingSync on my macbook, which hasn't got internet sharing capability. Also tried SyncMate which does share but it grabs every USB device imaginable which is sooo annoying especially when trying to connect a USB device to a Parallels VM.
Not sure why you're not using your wifi/airport connection for internet access on your phone (if you're trying to work the other way) unless of course it isn't connected to the internet.
Hope this helps.

the reason why I am not using the airport connection is becoz in US... most of the airport dont provide free internet access.... and they will charge you $10 for 24 hours...
thanks for your information btw~
good thing san diego airport wifi is free. i am about to test it this week when i fly out.
as for tethering, you might need to install the wm dun to get it to work.
or you can try enable internet sharing and see if that works.

I tried the bt dun last night and it worked for me =) however I am still trying to get usb tethering work w/o any sync software involved.... I know this can be done becoz thats how my blackjack2 is doing it... I guess it just depends on if I can get the right driver or not

RDT Remote desktop

hey there guys new one here just signed up not long a go i my sell got the htc hd2 from t-mobile seems pertty good but i got a little issue
Cannot connect with current connection settings to change your current connection settings tap settings
I’m running Windows xp home with a Dlink EBR 2310 Router.
I’ve forwarded port 3389
I have tried the local Ip-adress and my computer Ip-adress, and I have allow connection for remote desktop.
What am I doing wrong???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hum ok then i know same thing every forum you go to newbie thing well i used Google and the search bar
are you trying to connect while on the same network (i.e. you're at home on your phone where your computer, and router are)?
or are you trying to connect while at another wi-fi location? (away from the location where your computer is)?
at home please note remote desktop is new with me but however i found tutorials at pocketpc i know computers pretty well but this has me stumped....
what would it have to do with the net work? I should be able to connect to my pc even if i was down the street also my computer is not running off WiFi or a wireless router.
I'm no expert by any means, but I managed to connect to remote desktop by using this:
Computer: (use your computers IP address, not your routers)
User: (should be the same as your normal sign in)
Password: (self explanitory)
Domain: (Leave blank)
This worked for me, but I am on the same network as my computer.. I DON'T know how to log in from another wi-fi point.
Izod2010, let me know if this works (on your home network)
If somebody knows how to get remote desktop from an outside Wi-Fi point, please let me (us) know.
Cannot connect with current connection settings to change your current connection settings tap settings
so that's a no it didn't work with My IP or local IP
do you have the Wi-Fi on you phone turned on? I tried to connect without turning on my phones Wi-Fi the first time.
Once I turned it on.. it went without any issues.
nope still same message♠
should i use the router login?
check these out:
http://www.ehow.com/how_5232336_use-remote-desktop-mobile.html
step 2 might fix it.
or check out youtube...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCs4GQma7IQ
(I didn't mess with my router like he said.. It didn't have those setting available to me)
yea no matter what i do it dont work i guess its either phone side or my pc not sure whats wrong.
oh, btw. what operating system are you running? I think you have to have XP professional or newer to run RDT... and like the one website said (that I linked to).. I believe that you need to go into it (on your computer) and allow RDT accessability from outside computers.
other than that, I have no idea.
finally got this working...
upsetting that i can't turn it off/on.. but still bad ass regardless

What do you mean? What can't you turn on/off?
For Remote Desktop you must have XP Pro. XP Home and all other "Home" Windows do not come with the Remote Desktop Server. They do come with the Remote Desktop Client (RDC) so you can connect from the "Home" PC to some other "Pro" system. But you cannot use Remote Desktop Client (RDC) from anything to cennect to a "Home" Windows System. For a "Pro" system, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties" and then select the "Remote" tab to turn on Remote Desktop Server.
I realize this thread is old and technically solved...However I just experienced this same error message and after searching and not finding an answer wanted to post what solved mine for the next person like me.
STUPID...but I just flashed a new ROM and couldn't get signed into RDM--My Data Connection was turned off by default on the new ROM. I didn't realize this until after getting extremely frustrated.
Hope it helps someone in the future
Did you get this to work?
Hello,
could you ever get this to work out??
It was working fine on my touchpro 2, and I used it almost everyday with no problem.
ever since I got my HD2, it NEVER worked, and I tried every way possible. Every time I asked I was told to do the steps mentioned in your post replies and they told me you're a newbie maybe you can't figure it out, Ive been using windows mobile for nearly 10 years now, and I used remote desktop since it was first launched!! and it worked perfect every time.
There is a problem that I can't figure out, Im a computer software engineer and Ive been trying EVERYTHING possible. Something is missing, and wm experts and neglecting this, thinking that we're newbies and just can't figure it out.
Can someone tell me how i can get a small navigation window in remote desktop ? Watch this vide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFiDZ_wBAtM&feature=channel PLS help
You need Pro version of windows XP-vista or Windows 7 to use Remote desktop
I have Windows 7 Ultimate... but i ask about small window in PPC (Touch Pro 2) which let me navigate after zoom in.

New HTC Shift user 2019

I have received the HTC Shift which is still new to me but I am not able to test many things yet. It appears to be a fresh looking install but the internet is not allowing me to connect. Recent activity shows this is a good place to start looking for help perhaps someone here has files and program drivers that I may need for on Windows Vista and I will get this Shift fully functioning. Also I'm looking to program the two buttons by the trackpad that don't function. Thanks in advance!
Edit: After enabling Wifi in the control panel I do not see my home wifi internet, I'm only seeing only a handful of the ones around me. So far only the mobile hotspot on my phone is allowing the Shift to connect? Occasionally I will see my home internet for a few seconds but it always fails to connect.
Which wifi driver is installed on your shift?
To get wifi working on Windows 10 HTC Shift, follow steps 10 to 16 of the first post of this thread:
