I had been having issues with my hd2 thinking it was in car mode and not recognizing it was plugged into a computer so i called tmobile and they are sending me a replacement phone and ill just mail mine back to them. I have a custom rom and hspl on it. How hard is it to revert it back to the original spl/is it even necesarry? Basically i dont wanna get a charge for a 400$ phone on my next phone bill.
There are many guides to reverting back to stock, which you probably would have found if you have tried searching.
T-Mobile, however, will charge you a $100 dollar fee if you have voided the warranty in any way. Whether or not they check if you have HSPL is something I don't know.

What are the my options for bricked MyTouch3G phone which boot with Vodafone logo?
1. Indefinitely wait for technical solution to un-brick the phone.
2. Sell the parts
3. Confess to T-Mobile customer service and see if they will take it back with some repair fee.
4. HTC warranty service
5. Just call T-Mobile tech support regarding a red boot up screen.
What have done with your bricked phone (mytouch, magic or g1)?
Anyone try option 3 or 4 successfully?
Update 08/18/2009:
Success on Option 5:
I call T-mobile tech support regarding the red boot up screen issue, after talkingg to two helpdesk person, and try Home+Power a few times and tech support have determined they will replace the phone and since I'm in California within 30 days of purchased, I can go to T-Mobile store and get an exchange. The tech support put a note in the system to indicate exchange will need to be done. Today I walk into T-Mobile store and as usual after a long wait, they exchange the phone without question or even bother booting up the phone. I would recommend anyone with MyTouch brick follow the same procedure and do it as soon as possible. I hope they won't bill me later. T-Mobile customer service is great.
quick question Waacow, can you get into fastboot and/or recovery? Also, I saw in the other thread you said that you successfully switched to the 32A radio, did you revert back to the 32B radio before flashing the OTA Rom?
No I couldn't get into fastboot or recovery. (back button + power / menu + power / home + power). none of them works.
Regarding the 32B radio, after i successfully switch to 32A radio+ROM, I did NOT flash the ION radio first. I just flash the OTA Rom (which also has radio firmware - i would think it is a 32B radio) and I suspect that is the reason why it bricked. I should have follow the Daredevil instruction completely.

In Japan, I called HTC Japan, but they said they didn't handle carrier customized device.
So I should deal with Docomo, but also I should pay $50 for replacement.
I just bricked mine today, chatting with online support. They will replace it, its just a matter of if I can pick one up in store or not.
UPDATE: "_Amber G: The MyTouch is supported as an In-Store Exchange, but we cannot guarantee availability in the store. "
I bricked my phone and it was past the remorse period it would turn on but with the red Vodaphone splash screen so no way to cover that up. Luckily, I still kept my handset insurance on my phone. So I called Asurion, Paid the deductible for the phone and the next day I had a brand new phone and all. All i had to do was send back the phone its self not back or battery. So basically I have extra backing, battery, Case, Wall charger, Everything, Even the black my touch case it came in. Yeah, I paid for 2 phones but hey I don't have to worry about not having a spare battery on long trips I have one and that is the actual branded not some off brand and the spares are 50 bucks a pop.
So I lucked OUT so lucky, And I said I would not attempt to root my phone what happens 1 week after my replacement new root method.
And Yes I did successfully rooted my phone with the 1 Click method. Running CYAN 4.0.1 Rom. LOVE IT. I really want the hero rom but Im not sure I want to do the extra steps to do it.
Anyone else have an experience like mine?
I think i just bricked my MT3G. All i have is the green MY TOUCH screen.I can get the fast boot screen and recovery but no nandroid back up.Its gone.I believe sd card is corrupted.any help would be grateful or am i screwed

I had the same exact experience as you. I tried to root mine the goldcard way the day the method was posted online. My friend and co-worker was also rooting his myTouch at the same time. We both followed the same instructions but he succeded and i failed.
Once I had my hands on my new myTouch i refused to root it because I was too scared and my friend kept bugging me to root it since I got him to root his G1 after I did mine.
Yesterday my friend told me about the 1 click method and I'm also running cyan 4.0.1 rom
So I ended up paying for the full price of the myTouch but I have spare everything. I guess I got lucky too

Since you can get to fast boot and recovery you are not screwed. Look around the forums for help cause there are step by step instructions on how to recover from your situation.

if you can get to a fastboot screen, you can still save your phone. load up Amon_RA's recovery through fastboot and boot up to it.
Hey I was planning on jumping over to a hero rom and it said that it needed the SPL 1.33.2005 and since I had 2003 I thought I should upgrade. So i downloaded the file and named it update.zip and after a reboot the phone would not turn on anymore. Charging it would leave it with the orange led at the top, and holding the power button would make it a red light flash and power + some other button would make it blue but none would start the phone.
Dilemmas
1. Placed sim card into old Motorola Rizr and phone would be on loop for start up screen
2. Phone came with a NEW sim card which I never used so I placed that in the old phone and it would say "insert sim card" So I guess i need to do something for it to work?
3. Battery was replaced by employee when I went in yesterday morning.
4. I am not an authorized user on the account (I'm the son) so I wasn't able to order a new phone to be shipped to me. I am planning on going in a couple of hours if a solution does not come up.
They said to get authorized user in and ask to get a replacement sent home but did this void my warranty? What should I do?
I downloaded the "SPL" from here. I chose the engineering one. Maybe I did the process wrong or something, I have no idea. This is what I deserve I guess.
Lastly, can I get the phone replaced directly from a store instead of having it shipped to me?
sounds like a brick to me, I'm sure you can get a warranty replacement. when you or the account owner call tmo and complain don't mention rooting or updates.
Thanks for the quick response. Is there any way that they would know what happened to the phone when I send it in? What i'm mainly worried about are my contacts. I tried to put my contacts from my sim onto my old phone but the phone wouldn't start. I know the contacts are on the old phone though but the phone won't let me do anything with it unless there is a sim card in there and mine isn't working. Can my new sim card that came with phone work on the old Motorola RIZR? Do I need to activate the sim card?
if you logged into your google acct on your phone it sync's all your contacts, calendar things like that so if you did log into a google acct when you started the phone just goto gmail.com log in and hit contacts on the left
also they can figure out what you were trying to do and thats why they tell you when you order your replacement "if your warrenty is void (which it is) they can charge you a $399 restocking fee"
remember they arnt in the business of giving out free stuff but good luck :/
but if you have INSURANCE where you pay every month you can go this route... smash your phone so no one will be able to tell what you did.. pay the $50/$100 deductible... and get a new one then you dont have to chance the $399 but its up to you
That is what I assumed ^^
I called them earlier thinking it would be replaced but according to my insurance, they only cover theft and physical damage and I must pay the deductible of $130 (wtf, that is higher than i thought) and for actual damage to phone (no physical or water damage) like unresponsive, won't turn on, etc. has to be done through t-mobile.
So now I know that my previous rom on there was the cyanogen something so does that void my warranty? What should I do to the phone that will not let them know what happened?

you could try to fast boot the mytouch 3g boot image using these instructions here(taken from:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547133)
"Original T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Splash Image (Thanks Haykuro)
Download it here
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 splash.nb"
You would this using fast boot via your pc. Then you could send that sucker back, maybe. I hope this helps and I'm so sorry to hear about your phone.

I was trying this method but it looks like I need to start the phone to find out some info so I can make the gold card ( someone told me to try to fastboot it via the pc so I can at least get to that screen where i can install the update.zip so i can put in a rom)

you should be able to add insurance b4 the 14th day! if they wont let you...
call them today, say your phone wont power up, fake your way along with them in trouble shooting, then when they say send it back, touch the battery contacts under the battery (on the phone not battery) to a higher voltage source (ex: lattern battery) you should hear a pop, and the phone will not boot, and you are good! send it back and they will send you a new 1 tada you winz.

I'm coming from another website where sarcasm runs rampant, I'm not sure if this is sarcasm... hahaha.
So should I fry it?
any recommended easy ways that you guys suggest? I don't really have a "lattern lamp" or a lantern lamp which I'm assuming it is. Without killing myself.
you could try a 9 volt battery or just tape some wires to a car battery would be better. this is totally up to you, this is so they won't see that you been "modding"
if you wanna get creative, see if you can do it through the charger port so you can say you left it charging over night and it was very hot to the touch in the morning. you went to turn on the phone and it was unresponsive. that's been known to happen with phones once in a while.
I got it, take a usb, plug the small side in the phone, pull the large end off, shove the exposed wires in a wall outlet, watch it squirm.

LOL that is hilarious. Won't that also fry my charger?
Most likely I'm going to try the car battery + wire to the metal contact. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I should be getting my phone next week and I'll be returning the defective one promptly after. Hopefully I'll still have the one touch root. I heard that t-mobile has caught on to that and have revised the newer phones to not allow that.

yea It probly will fry the wire too, m I wouldn't use the htc usb but an extra cheapo standard to mini. I got like ten of them laying around the house here. lol I wouldn't be surprised if the phone melted or caught fire if you tried running 120. volts through it.
let us know how it goes.
first i wanna apologize if this has been asked before but here is my situation... i bought an HD2 from a friend of mine just to run android on it, mission was accomplished.
this morning i was checking my emails and all of a sudden phone froze, i said ok no big deal battery pull and reboot, good to go but it did not happen, device would not boot, would not respond or nothing, plugged it in to the charger and started to boot but stuck on a boot loop, it would get to the tmo logo and then shut down and try to boot again, i did a master reset and that did not help, called tmobile, explained them what i did and they will be sending a replacement (helps to have insurance, u get unlimited warranty as long as device does not have physical damage)
here is my concern, i install HSPL, flashed the radio and installed custom ROM, is there a way to go back to stock with the phone doing what is doing? i believe there is not but hey... i doesn't hurt to ask right?
will TMO USA decline this repair or warranty exchange? i was able to press the volume down and reset button and gave me the radio version so thats my concern... any inputs will be appreciated
Thanks!
BTW u guys rock!
sounds like you bent the battery pins when you puled the battery.....
there is a way to prevent them knowing that you have hspl'd it a quick search should reveal all.
just came to my mind, any way to go back to stock radio??
So, i went into T-Mobile today because the touch screen on my phone is completely unresponsive. They are sending me a new one and i have to return my old one in the box that they provide.
Now, i was asking the tech rep inside the actual store and he said that he thinks me having a custom rom on my phone wont void the warranty. We went and read ALL of the fine print together on T-Mobile's website regarding warranties and found NOTHING against custom software on the phone. The only thing that would void the warranty and charge me $320 something is if the screen had physical damage preventing it from functioning correctly.
Just wanted to double check with you guys, and, just to be safe would flashing a stock rom put me on the safe side?
I'm on Vodafone and had exactly the same issue, I flashed a stock ROM back on and sent back to Vodafone.
The phone had to be sent back to HTC due to "corrupt firmware" and they could not fix.
I received my phone back fixed FOC, not sure if that would have been the case with a cooked ROM on the phone.
There is a lot of conversation on the forums about flashing back to avoid warranty issues
Better to be safe than out of pocket

Of course it would put you on the safe side.
If I was you just flash the stock ROM.
Ore certainly make attention that HSPL (in case it is install) is removed.
Because HSPL brake your warranty
I had a similiar issue. My phone went dead a few weeks ago. Wouldn't take a charge or turn on (no idea why, I woke up and the phone acted like this). I called tmobile, they sent me a new phone and I shipped them the broken phone with android nand installed. They haven't said a word so it looks like it went through
I know that many of you will tell me to search, which I have with the time that I have had. I am 1000 miles away from home and only hav e use of a motel computer. basically I turned my hd2 off last night: running android from nand, ROM is the NEXUS 2.3 gingerbread build. I left the phone off all night. When woke up this morning my phone will not turn on or respond to anything that I do. When I plug it into the wall outlet it will load android from nand and say everything is great and then it will make it to the HTC screen and then power off and start the cycle again. I allowed it to do this for about a half hour. I can load it into magldr and it will only allow me to do so much. When I try recovery it brings that up and it shows for a few seconds and then power cycles. I am running magldr 1.13 and my radio I remember checking and it being the one everyone recommended more than the others. I did all this work from my windows 7 computer at home and the computer available to me is a windows xp and it won't synch up with it. PLEASE HELP. I leave tomorrow afternoon to head to my next destination that doesn't have a computer available. it would be really great if I could get this fixed so i have a cell phone for the rest of my trip.
update: I was able to get it to power on when i took out my sim card and micro sd card, but that was only once and I obviously had to take the battery out to put the sim card back in and it won't turn back on and is going back to its same old tricks as described before.
I don't know if I mentioned it before but if I pull the usb cable out it turns off instantly, almost like it doesn't recognize that there is a battery.
Tale a look at your battery pins make sure Nome of them arecbend or out of alignment.
the pins looked good. I wiggled them around a little bit and tried it again. and it worked!!! Now how could I go about getting this fixed permanantly so i don't have to worry about this happening again? I bought the phone from craigslist about 3 weeks ago but i believe it is under warranty still. The person told me it was less than a year old and the condition would indicate this.

If it is a T-Mobile HD2 youcwill have contact them and give them the IMEI and maybe the serial number. Tell them you bought it from someone bit it should still be under warranty. The warranty is transferable. And tell them you want to get it replacedcas the battery pins are loose. The only way to fix it through a repair shop is to vet them to replacecthe intuit main boardcascthe battery pins are attachedcto the main board.
If it is not a T-Mobile HD2 you will have to contact HTC.
