Nexus desktop dock - Nexus One General

Since the google nexus site is no longer selling anything, where can I get one?

Ebay but they are too expensive I am wanting the car dock but I am not will to pay over 100 for it
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

Yea, I was smart enough to get the car dock with the phone, but not the desktop dock...now I see the docks on ebay are way over priced.
Edit: Looks like they sell them from HTC UK.
Edit 2: HTC site says it will ship in 34 days

In the UK you can buy it from Expansys:
Desktop (~$60):
h**p://www (dot) expansys (dot) com/d.aspx?i=195715
Car (~$87):
h**p://www (dot) expansys (dot) com/d.aspx?i=199679

I have both and I have to admit that I do not like the desktop dock (the car dock is great).
The phone is barely held in such that the slightest bump causes it to lose contact with the charging pins. Then it goes through the whole docking procedure again.
Not very stable at all.

Dock Util
I am using dock util app and disabled lunch of clock app so I don't get bothered with clock each time it slightly moved. but I should say that I love desk dock because I wont forget to charge the phone and its pretty easy to charge it without putting usb plug in it. Dock Util can also enable hotspot by docking so I don't need to enable it either and when I get home I have my internet.

the desktop dock sucks. whoever decided to have it stream music over bluetooth instead of have usb sync should be fired.

Beware Everyone !! Brando Cradle !!

I bought a Cradle for my TyTn II from Brando Web site. they are located in Hong Kong. I have been dealing with them since 2000.
they usually provide good service.
However this charger did not work, AC or USB part. I emailed them and they were kind to send me a replacement in 1 week.
Again still not charging or connecting to my computer. I skipped the cradle and tried the USB cable only still not working.
I emailed them back and they want me to ship both units back to them. I understand that there is a problem with certain connections charging or connecting with Kaiser an I tried to tell them that; I don't think they believe me.
Do Not Order this Cradle since it will not work !!

Uh thanks for the warning, I almost bought the same thing.

Stupid question, but does your Kaiser connect to your computer with ANY USB cable? I'm using a cradle (from Talkietech.com) which looks identical to that one with no problems at all. Works with both a USB connection (though I re-used an existing cable) and just with the wall power plug.
If the provided USB cable isn't working, try one which you know works....
Richard
It's not only the USB cable but also the charger included.
any other USB cable works on my computer though.
Brando contacted me again yesterday they will send me a third unit. I will post once I get the third unit.
cheers.
Also returned one of these for same reason
I returned one for replacement because the led lamp was blinking like crazy. The replacement connects to my usb alright but I have not done any extensive testing of the charging performance.
Inserting the phone is also fibbly because the slot is so wide, you need to take aim and align phone before inserting. This is a real bother. Do not buy it
I bought a Boxwave cradle for a 8525 and it's light blinked and failed within hours, I returned it.

I think all these cradles (Kigidi, mobile planet, Brando) are all from the original manufacturer. They do work, but not out of the box. You have to shift the battery around left to right while inserting them to have the contacts line up properly. Cheap quality.
I bought a cradle that looks exactly like that one off eBay. But it came with a second battery for Brando's price for just the cradle alone. I've been using mine for a little over a month, and am very happy with it. The USB cable only serves for charging and connecting to a pc. To charge the second battery in the charger 'tray', the AC power adapter must be plugged in as well.
Mine also has the tricky alignment issue when inserting the kaiser, but I'm used to it. Also because of the position of the kaiser's stylus, there's no access when cradled, so I rigged a mount on the side of the cradle for a spare stylus.
Hands down the best thing about my cradle is the charger tray and second battery. It's so nice to have a fully charged battery available at any time for a quick swap. The battery that was included is only 1300 mAh, opposed to the stock 1350 mAh battery, but it fits perfectly, and I I don't find the 50 mAh difference noticeable. And considering the $24 price tag fI paid for battery and dock, it seems a steal. At this point there's no way I'm going to shell out $50 for the 1650 mAh batteries now available, but If I din't have the dock and second battery I probably would have.
I see that the pricing is up $5, still a deal:

brando.com shipping
This is unrelated to the topic, but I was going to order from Brando.com and was wondering how long the shipping took. It says 7-20 business days, and I was hoping it would be on the shorter end of that. (shipping to PA)
Almost every charger didnt work with my TyTn II (after I burnt up mine original one on UPS). I just went to market, looked for highest wattage supplying adapter and it was LG's 5.2Volt 5W adapter. And it recharges my TyTn II like a charm. There is something bad with recharging TyTn II.
The old motorola charger and such going-around-boozo's worked with my Vox and Excalibur but not this beast.
Interesting
i have had one of these for over 2 years. its on my desk at work. the original mains adapter packed up a long time ago and i have an old tandy one attached now. does have the random blinking lights with phone and spare battery connected, but it works.
as said before, cheap design but very handy to charge phone and battery together.
just have to be a bit lucky when you buy i guess.
despite title, i would say buy.
@dark_prince: could be the charging socket in the phone is wearing and needs bit more power to kick it in. have you tried to clean inside socket with compressed air and contact cleaner, might help.
but maybe we just have to accept that our phones are really old now and dont work as well as they used to (i know the feeling)

[Q] Car holder

Does the Desire Z have any contacts for charging & data. Looking at the pictures it seems that the usb connection is on the side which is a bit awkward in a car holder arrangement.
It would be great to drop it into a cradle (car or desk) without having to fiddle about plugging bits in, but it seems that decent manufacturer's accessories are a thing of the past..?
With the navigation a prominent feature, it really would make sense to have a proper accessory to mount the phone correctly.
I really would like to know this as well. I also want to know if you can route audio through micro-usb port. It works out really good in my G1 right now, I only have to plug in 1 cord for both audio and charging. I would hate to have to plug in 2 cords, micro-usb for charging and 3.5mm for audio, especially since they are on different sides of the phone.
I have the nexus one stand and its amazing. I hope there is some sort of dock. I hate trying to plug it in.
This is my concern - I don't think the regular Desire has any docking contacts (not certain on this though)
The TMo G2 has no dock contacts.
Use these car docks
I've been using the pro clip car docking systems for over 5 years now ... changed 2 cars and on my 3rd phone ...
good solid build, easy install and especially uninstall without damage to vehicle, etc.
I'm buying hte HTC desire Z as soon as it's available from bell in Canada (will unlock it and use it on Fido) but I already ordered the proclip mount for it (the one with car cigarette lighter plug charger) - it supports the phone both vertically and horizontally with or without the keyboard exposed (slide in from the side into the usb plug for charging). see proclipusa dot com and look for the desire z
Ok, I just got my holder

took a bit to get used to the side slide-in (due to usb on the side instead of on the bottom) but it really works great - got the one with cigarette lighter charger - this way I can use navigation without draining the battery

It makes sense having the usb on the side of the phone on slider designs. With a bottom mounted usb connector the usb cable gets in the way of your hand when charging the phone when you're typing on the keyboard.
brodit.se are making a car dock to the DZ . And I hope that's with a charger .

Correction bordit.se have made 3 car docks 2 with USB Charger.

Question about Transformer Keyboard Dock

Hi,
First of all, I don't have any ASUS Transformer tablet, and I have never seen nor used one.
But, I will buy the upcoming ASUS Transformer Prime.
So, my questions are related to the current keyboard dock.
Does the keyboard dock need power to function?
Probably yes. If it is not connected to a power source (like wall power outlet) and the dock's battery is empty, does it take the battery power of the tablet?
How good is the mechanical connection between the dock and the tablet?
I would imagine I will dock and undock quite often. So, I am afraid this dock/undock will loosen the dock?
I saw a trackpad in the dock, but can I use mouse (computer mouse)?
Thanks

On mine, the keyboard battery is drained first. When the keyboard battery hits 3% it then begins to drain the tablet battery. The keyboard remains functional even when on the tablet battery. The most recent update made it where even USB attachments function for me when the keyboard batter is drained. So, you only need wall power when both batteries are completely drained.

It is surprisingly solid. There are two hook latches in addition to the charging port connector. The tablet is also inserted into a shallow tray which adds even more stability.

Yes you can. I have used USB mice, trackballs and various video game controllers without issue.
Don
No the dock doesn't need power as such. It supplies power when charged, when discharged it works the same as a keyboard plugged into a PC. Yes you can use a normal mouse but why? You have a touch screen and a track pad so why plug something else in, why carry more crap round with you. No mouse or track pad will replicate what you get on windows as android doesn't work like that. Best advice I can give is go into a store and have a shot.
Thanks all, it is pretty clear and as exactly as I expected.
I don't plan to carry all this every where. Obviously, I will place the dock at my desk, and will use it as needed.
And it is good that it can take power from the tablet, because I don't like another power cable for the dock.
So, this is perfect!

Not only can it take power from the tablet, but it can also provide power TO the tablet. In other words, if you have a fully charged keyboard and a nearly drained tablet, you can pop on the keyboard and it will start to charge the tablet from the keyboard's battery. And you never need more than one power cable -- if you plug in the cable to the dock with the tablet attached, they'll both charge (I'm not sure if they charge simultaneously or if one charges first and then the other).
Tab charges first then the dock.

[Q] Which desktop charger can be used with a case?

Just ordered a Rearth case from here: http://www.amazon.com/-Rearth-Ringke-Google-Feeling-Premium/dp/B00A81O6D8
Curious if anyone has this case (or a similar type that does not obstruct the top/bottom) and uses a microUSB desktop charger?
I know, I know, this phone supports wireless charging.... but some of us want to 1) charge as fast as possible and 2) have our phone upright on our desk while charging.
I heard that the N4 fits in the GSIII desktop chargers but I doubt they do with any type of case on. Anyone have recommendations for a "universal" or otherwise desktop charger that will work with this phone/case combo? Quick search on eBay turned up this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cellet-Universal-Micro-USB-Desktop-Cradle-Charger-with-Data-Cable-Black-/380531711620
Any thoughts or recommendations?
Might give this a try....
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Multimedia-Music-Phones/dp/B0089VO71U/
Looks like it could be fairly universal and work with smaller cases.
I bought a 'universal ' dock like the one in your eBay Link and I returned it... when docked, the phone balanced on the micro USB connection and wasn't very sturdy as it was top heavy... the slightest movement and it would have fallen sideways

Desk Dock for Find 5

I just finally received a desk dock that's actually for the HTC Sensation 4 G phone.
The USB plug is turned the correct way so that I can just insert it in to the phone and have a portrait desk dock.
The dock that I received unfortunately came with a European style wall plug and not the US version as shown on the web page.
I believe that was a shipping oversight beside I already have a basketfull of chargers.
This is not a perfect solution but it holds the phone very clinic and of course charges and make the needed USB connection to my PC.
My phone also has a thin wall case and causes no issues.
Here is the link where I got it HOWEVER the mail is slower than crap takes about 4 weeks.

I'll try to get one up later.
It will look like a Find 5 sitting "portrait" in a "landscape" desk mount.
This is not a perfect solution however the position of the USB plug is perfect.
At the moment i'm using a PadPivot originally bought for my Nexus 7. Unfortunately it only fits in landscape-mode.
I'd love to see a few pics of your Find 5 in the dock. TIA
