[Q] Android rom? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Anyone have any idea when an actual android rom will be released that flashes it to the memory? I have been using desire v5.0 for a little over a week now and seems very stable. Were getting close!

It'll be done in time. Patience is a virtue.

I await patiently. I also await eagerly! I would love to have WinMo bootable from the SD card, with Android running natively, with all the wonderful snappiness of the phone's internal memory. I think that day will be one of the largest milestones since haret.exe!

Dual boot android?

I found this and believe it is for GSMHero. But was wondering if it is possible or even wanted for the CDMA Hero.
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=417
can that even be done
I dont see why it wouldnt work for us also. If anything there might just have to be small changes.
apperently it can. id be interested.

Anyone want to try it and see what happens?
what a minute is this a guide on how to dual boot and get winmo on our heros?
i hate winmo but damn id give this a whirl.
edit: damn it's just to dual boot different roms.
my dream would be to get webos on the hero, evo or nexus. i hope hp will make palm release the source code.
Ok, this works with the GSM hero. Is there a CDMA Winmo? Maybe the htc imagio ROM? Would the script in the link on the first post still work with our heros?
Its not for WinMo. Just Android ROMs

oops I thought it was Winmo+Android :/
I tried this the other day actually. I was surprised I hadn't seen it in here yet and meant to write something up, but didn't have time. Basically, yes it works. Mine was very slow booting but I think that might have something to do with my stock SD card :-O I know. But yes, it works, just putting that out there,

are we ever going to see WP7 on android?

like a rom of some sort, or should i just buy a WP7 phone
bamp for more win
Highly unlikely. It's more plausible that you will see Android for a WP7 phone due to proprietary drivers.
But the most important question is: why would you ever desire WP7 on an Android device?!?!

I loved winmo, but as I read about what win phone 7 was going to be like, I jumped ship to android just to show M$ my disgust with how they will be crippling winmo in sooooo many ways.
Been pretty happy with my Evo on android.

Only the snapdragon chip is supported so even if it happens expect HTC phones only, I'd much rather see Android on the HTC 7 pro if it has 4g

Dual Boot

This should really start being looked into by the devs. It would be AMAZING to have it on the Epic4G. Easier said than done. But we got some great devs and I think they can pull it off!!. Please devs. We need this!

What do you mean by dual boot?
http://epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/01/boot-el30-stock-from-sdcard.html
The temporary EL30 boot from sdcard is a method of "dual boot" which has been useful for people to update PRL and calibrate sensors. This old version is problematic in that 3G and 4G data is broken. We know how to fix it, but it would take a few hours of work and there hasn't been demand for it.
Any type of dual boot would boot from the sdcard. The slow sdcard. Not a great user experience.
LOL...I got a quad boot on my phone. If I boot right into CWM I have nandroids of 4 ROMs to choose from to restore. Takes less than 10 minutes to restore one and then there is no issue of running from a slow sd card since we don't have enough internal memory to make real dual boot work.

Is it possible that other phone's ROMs are much smaller than ours? It can be done but would be a tight squeeze on MTD but next to impossible on BML.

Nook color has this. Although I never compared the specs. One boots off SD card, thither off internal memory. Speed off SD is same as internal. But I don't think the epic could handle this as a full time option. Just my opinion. My NC dual boots cm7 and cm9.

Where'd all that space come from? I thought we only had like 300 megs in both RAM and ROM?
Also my friends tp2 and hd2 dual booted very easily into android (infact I think the hd2 is the most developed for android phone after the g1 and nexus 1, and its not even native lololol) and ran extremely smooth (on the hd2...on the tp2 it was like a hero with a keyboard lol. Random sluggishness.)
But nah if the hd2 can handle it I know damn well our phones can handle it. The problem is, everything we can dual boot is closed source so that's why windows phones can dual boot android but not vice-versa (I mean, you could do it yourself but just can't distribute it).
Meego seems like a great choice for a dual boot though since its open source and amazing...

Whats funny is the HTC HD2 still runs ICS or can dual boot etc... and its 3 years old
I have had my head spun by this topic myself -- I've been doing a lot of searches and reading just about every result but I can't seem to find good general info on the subject. I've seen some loosely compiled info on dual booting CM9/CM7, and I've seen some info on the EL30 from sdcard mentioned before, but I had hoped to boot CM9/CleanGB as CleanGB is what I'm running stable and comfortable with now. I'd just like to be able to have stable and comfortable as a fallback for playing with ICS. I know running off the sd is supposed to be quite slow, I don't really know what to expect as to HOW slow, but the way I figured slow was an acceptable compromise for a stable fallback.
My bottom line has been that a lot of kernels seem to support this, yet it feels like there's very little info on doing it, and that just confuses me a skosh. Is CM9/CleanGB even possible due to kernel requirements?

Challenge accepted! Lol Cupcake on the Evo. Wonder how that would run being that the Evo specs are well above what's needed. I'm assuming, if someone is actually able to get it to boot cupcake, that it would run about as well as running Windows 95 on one of today's typical PC specs.
In regards to the toolbox and apps. Would the flash 11.x work on GB as well? I thought flash stopped at 10.x for GB and 11.x was for 4.x.x (ICS and up).

I think it does run on GB. When I flash a rom I flash this group of app along with it. It shows up in my apps when I boot up but I am not sure of the last time I used any flash on my phone. I usually use my pc for the Internet.
Op has some more info. I will be working on it more over the next few days. This will have apps, tweaks, and tricks. The apps are one part of the toolbox that will start showing up in our roms. They will also be included in a flashable zip for those who are not using our roms. The second part of the toolbox will be exclusive to our roms. It consists of modifications to the installer script that will put a copy of your recovery log into a folder on your sdcard. It will also do a md5sum of the rom you are installing and put that in the folder also.
Remember this is a work in progress so don't expect it to be finished over night.

Happiness

This is due for release soon, you can have Sense and GPe on the same device and change roms at the push of a button, and both roms share the same single pool of data, what a great idea, cant wait for this to be released

I haven't bothered to root/ROM my One yet, but this just might push me over the edge.
so would having 2 roms eat into the free ram on the rom your running, or just onto sd storage space? If its the latter, I wouldnt mind at all. running these roms now, whether be sense or GE, i usually only have 500mb of free ram at times, and sometimes less than that..
regardless, I am excited to at least try it out. I guess I would fall into that category of being indecisive on which rom I would like to run and would be nice to switch on the fly. hopefully it can be compatible with Viper
