This is due for release soon, you can have Sense and GPe on the same device and change roms at the push of a button, and both roms share the same single pool of data, what a great idea, cant wait for this to be released

Yeah i agree, best of both worlds, the fact the your data is available on both roms regardless of which rom you download it on is amazing, cant wait
I was concerned about the space it would take up but apparently he's aiming for less than 500mb which would be immense. I wonder if this can be developed and used for other devices to switch between sense and stock android.

This is really neat I just wonder if you can load up your own roms or if they have to be ones included, and if MODs will work. I have a feeling regardless this will be my daily driver.
This looks amazing - I always dreamed of this with my One XL.
I haven't bothered to root/ROM my One yet, but this just might push me over the edge.
so would having 2 roms eat into the free ram on the rom your running, or just onto sd storage space? If its the latter, I wouldnt mind at all. running these roms now, whether be sense or GE, i usually only have 500mb of free ram at times, and sometimes less than that..
regardless, I am excited to at least try it out. I guess I would fall into that category of being indecisive on which rom I would like to run and would be nice to switch on the fly. hopefully it can be compatible with Viper

Currently it only takes up a bit of extra storage not ram because, in order to switch, it requires a reboot.

As the guy said above, its only 1 rom running at once so it wont eat into your ram, tho PaulOBrien did say he is going to look at trying to use Sense features over on the GPe rom which could be interesting
If it could get ir working on Google edition I would use this and probably never use sense.

I just wanted to know if Google releases the ics ota for the nexus s 4g should I just stick with it instead of upgrading fully to Mac daddy galaxy nexus. I hope they release it on the sale date of the GN or before. Just want to hear some thoughts.

I agree with this, but the amount of resources and testing at google's disposal far outweighs that of your average rom builder.
Not only that, but I'm positive that Google has specification and performance information on the phone's hardware that the average ROM developer will simply never have. I agree, custom ROMs are fun to play with, but for everyday use, you'll never beat a stock ROM.

I'm on kang 15 and steve.garons latest kernel. You and I have very different opinions of stable. Mine is top notch. No hiccups. If u want to wait, by all means, I was...then broke down and the current roms are fantastic.
It takes less than 5mins to root, make a backup, copy that backup yo PC, then unlock boot loader and flash a new rom. If u don't like it, there always that backup you can restore. Too easy to sit around and complain when there are alternatives
I'm always finding things that don't work on custom kernels and it drives me insane!! I'll try to show someone something cool, and it takes me 15 minutes just to get it working, then I just look stupid because the rom I have isn't compatible with ___, or it's missing ___ (fill in the blank)
Yeah, they are fun to play with, and it's nice to have the cool mods & tweaks that come with them, but when you want your phone to "just work" then there's nothing better than a nice stable official rom that does everything you throw at it. speed & extra performance is great, but stability and compatibility outweigh those every single time, imho

I can't help but agree that ota is most stable But I feel the same way as you. Stability first. Yet I myself am not suffering from any issue. I find my self surround by multiple galaxy nexus owners daily and I am showing them stuff w my oG. Vice versa, just throwing it out there. I have been lucky when I have been flashing phones, many many manyphones hahaha. They all take well to me. I hate a screwed up glitchy phone
So I might get my sgs3 within a week or so and when we get a "Stock Image" I'm planning to make a kickass Rom
So this is what I have planned
AOSP apps
AOSP themed
AOSP look and feel
Init.d scripts everywere
No bloat
Free RAM tweaks
Try to make the rom as small as possible
theme it all up to stock ics
Music hack for better sound
100% smooth and stable
Some camera tweaks

It's called a Stock Odin Image that you flash via Odin.

Before I say anything, Devs please do not see this as a request or as demanding in ANY way. You all do fantastic work and really make this device shine. Anyways... I was wondering if anyone else wishes there was a Sense based port. With the DNA being so close relativity in specs, I am sort of surprised there has not been any talk of a port. This is simply to see who else would like to see a port and if there is any interest in one. I am absolutley not a developer and could not create a ROM to save my life, I'm just a lowly power user lol.
I would much rather have Sense 5(when it comes out) since it's newer and looks cleaner.

I would also like to see a sense rom, it would be cool to be able to have one phone that could run any ui. We already have Motorola blur, why not HTC sense, and touchwiz. If you don't like it you don't have to flash it. I love the nexus line of hardware and aosp, but for flashaholics like me, the more ROMs available the better off I am. I wish I could build ROMs but I don't even know where to start. I would definitely donate to any dev that could build a stable sense ROM.

I don't have the time to learn how to build ROMs. My wife stays on my case as it is, and all I do is flash a ROM and set it up the way I want it. I go to work to make money so I can pay someone to do all the things that I don't want to do and the things I don't know how to do. I have one set of skills and you probably have a different set of skills in your line of work. I don't know anybody who knows how to do everything. This is why I said that I would donate to a dev who comes up with a sense ROM.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
I came from the HTC G2, the stock android version of the Desire Z (codename: Vision). Basically, in my opinion at least, any Sense ROM that was not a kang of a ROM shipped by HTC for the Vision has a bunch of bugs and oddities and things that just don't work nicely. And the Vision has one the best developers community that I have seen around. You still get CM 10.1 nightlies uover there even as the last update from HTC was GB back in 2010.
So... while I support having choices, thus would welcome any Sense ROM for the N4, I actually don't think it's a good idea to try.

I would like to try Sense 5. I wouldn't use it as my daily driver. But I'm definitely not opposed to having more options.

Challenge accepted! Lol Cupcake on the Evo. Wonder how that would run being that the Evo specs are well above what's needed. I'm assuming, if someone is actually able to get it to boot cupcake, that it would run about as well as running Windows 95 on one of today's typical PC specs.
In regards to the toolbox and apps. Would the flash 11.x work on GB as well? I thought flash stopped at 10.x for GB and 11.x was for 4.x.x (ICS and up).

I think it does run on GB. When I flash a rom I flash this group of app along with it. It shows up in my apps when I boot up but I am not sure of the last time I used any flash on my phone. I usually use my pc for the Internet.
Op has some more info. I will be working on it more over the next few days. This will have apps, tweaks, and tricks. The apps are one part of the toolbox that will start showing up in our roms. They will also be included in a flashable zip for those who are not using our roms. The second part of the toolbox will be exclusive to our roms. It consists of modifications to the installer script that will put a copy of your recovery log into a folder on your sdcard. It will also do a md5sum of the rom you are installing and put that in the folder also.
Remember this is a work in progress so don't expect it to be finished over night.

Nothing confirmed yet, but the future holds a very bright and good ending. Besides, i don't see any reasons why HTC wouldn't do this...considering they would only release 50k units of the HTC ONE Nexus.
This is definitely a win-win for both consumers and HTC.
Here's the article i just read: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_might_release_aosp_rom_for_current_htc_one_owners-news-6132.php
I would love it as I would never root my phone.

It's not entirely a win-win. I read that in order for HTC to release such an update (providing AOSP to all normal HTC One owners), they have to go trough every carrier and other legal stuff. I don't remember where I read it and I don't remember exactly what the article said, but the conclusion I remember: it would cost HTC time & money (and stress, probably) to release an AOSP rom for current HTC One owners.
I hope they do it though. Would be awesome!
edit: Ah, I think I just remembered something. They have to go through every carrier because otherwise the AOSP Rom (update) would not be able to legally use the mobile networks of the carriers or something...
hopefully they'd be able to release an aosp rom for carrier unlocked phones without any legal ramifications.
do you think this will pave the way for future android phones to be released with stock android and the specific manufacturer apps (zoe, sense, touchwiz, etc) to be added as separate apps? this would surely cure the 'fragmentation' of android that iPhone users are always complaining about.

It will not be an ota. It will prolly be an ruu, available for developer edition and maybe unlocked international versions. No carrier approval needed
When we have s-off anyone(gsm, anyway) should be able to flash it.
It's kind of neat, but not that big of a deal. You can always run cm if you want AOSP.

I wouldn't say cure, but definitely won't be as bad. Really hope they do this. I'd like to try out AOSP on my One, though I'm 90% sure I'll stick with sense. Way nicer looking to me.

A fully functional AOSP Rom > buggy cm. At least until HTC releases the sources, then well have a bug free cm Rom.
