Ain't the same as the T-Mobile US Vibrant with a different radio.
Looks to have a FFC, the three button layout, and a black bezel. An I9000 NAM, in other words. Plus this little tidbit is on their feature list:
"Connect face-to-face with Facebook® friends from anywhere on the new Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant when you get Bell’s exclusive Video Calling feature."

Still no word on internal memory, but I'm guessing it'll have at least 8mb, and will likely be almost free of bloat and carrier restricting.

WOW 8MB! How can they achieve such a mighty feat! Seriously, how.... android would explode.
Anyways. Yes it would be nice to have this one instead of the regular i9000. However, this one will be sim locked (don't know the difficulties of unlocking on bell's phones).

Doubt it. Every carrier on earth likes to shove their crap onto their phones. But maybe Bell's different.

Telus and Bell both are very very light on branding ****.
I can't wait for the pricing information but my guess is the typical 199.99 (though I still hope it turns out to be less than that). I also hope this version isn't plagued by the issues that some of the other galaxy S handsets enjoy

i don't want to deal with unlocking, so i ordered the international version instead.
and 2, i prefer the 16GB version as it is more special, the 8GB is all on the streets, almost any SGS owner i see on the street has a 8GB instead of 16GB model

Is it confirmed it's only the 8gb? T-mobile's vibrant is the 16gb. But I agree with you.
off all carriers, i'm surprised bell is getting it. I woulda thought telus would nab it for sure since they atm have the best android phones..
i've been watching this phone for a while.. but i'm locked in a contract with rogers.. so hoping rogers gets it shortly after.
and yes, it will most likely be sim locked.
there isnt any physical difference between an 8gb and 16gb version right? what makes it 'look' more special?

No one said it "looked" more special. It IS more special I'm using my 16gb as video recording space.... big difference. Who doesn't like having double the storage for crap? If you don't use that much space, then it means very little.
its gonna be $600 without contract according to a very reliable blog i go to.
I think they are trying to compete directly with the iphone which would be around the same price as well.

So ya i was hoping my G1 would survive till an android phone with the 1ghz cpu was released to t-mobile in store, but it didn't make it. Unfortunately i cant get the Nexus in the t-mobile store, which i think was a terrible idea on google's side, but whatever. What other android phone you guys think would be a great device to have?
got the wife a Behold 2, and its AWESOME.....after i rooted it and put a custom rom on it. The mytouch is ok. reminds me a lot of the G1. Ill never buy a motorola product ever again.......does anyone know of any other android devices coming out for t-mobile anytime soon?
thanks a ton for the time!
cheers!
The HD2? It's Winmo but these clever minds here on XDA will soon put Android on it, I'm pretty sure.
I felt the MT3G is a vast difference from G1, and you can check out the 1.2 version as well.

It sounds like we may be in similar situations, this is what I am thinking:
Im wondering the same thing. i have a mytouch, and wife now needs a new phone. Not getting the nexus bc of the family plan we have, and not gonna spend $500 on it.
Since it does not look like tmobile is coming out with any new (nexus like performance) phones really soon, this is what I think we are going to do, maybe good for you too:
I think we are going to find a mytouch on craigslist (like mine). hopefully for around $150. root it so that it runs good, and wait for tmobile to come out with something good, then use upgrade to get discount on new phone. Then sell the mytouch (purchased from craigslist) on ebay for about the same, if not more...
sounds like we are in the similar situations, so figured i would share about the only option I can see would be good. What do you think? good luck

No, it was a very good idea. T-Mobile would lock it down and not let it be used on any other carrier, without unlocking. I'm sure you know that a large portion (probably around 60 - 70%, if not, more) of all cell phone users have never even HEARD of unlocking. Not being on just one carrier = more buyers. More buyers = more money.

Aside from the CDMA junk, both GSM versions are happy to work on other networks, not just the one whose 3G band is compatible.
I.e., the tmobile3G version is compatible with ATT2G, and the ATT3G version is compatible with tmobile2G. They are both compatible with INTERNATIONAL2G and some 3G.
Further, if you decide to go to.... europe, or wherever, with an unlocked phone, you can buy a LOCAL SIMCARD and it will work IFF your phone is unlocked.
But there is MORE TO BEING UNLOCKED than just sim-unlocked. There is also FIRMWARE unlocked, and with GN1, it is TRIVIAL -- "fastboot oem unlock" is the command. This allows you to load CUSTOM FIRMWARE to the device.... which is not possible with a carrier-branded device.
If you like the phone, buy it from google. They are a very reputable seller.
Expect this in the future though: as 2G dies away, you will start to see 3G-only devices with full 6-band 3G radios -- 850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100. These devices, when they appear, will be universal.

No, the Desire is going to be exclusive to Verizon in the US, thus cannot be used on T-Mobile because it is CDMA.

Heck yeah the HD2 is awsome, even though its not android. Like somebody above said people here at XDA will find a way to put android on it. That HUGE screen is amazing.
If you ask T-Mobile they are sure to say that one of their "lovely" blur devices is what you want, kindly kick their shin and spit on them if they do
and then Toot and, oh, I apologize, TWEET and inform us what phone you got on your way to jail.

JUST FYI, NO U.S.A carriers has been announced for the Desire or Legend and since HTC wants this to be their "super phone" it will most likely be GSM since it will be world compatible (on edge anyway) You are probably thinking about the HTC Incredible (A completely different phone)
Any way I would go with the HTC HD2 since it is a great device and there will be an android rom for it one day and when a great android phone comes out for t-mobile just sell the HTC HD2 (someone will buy it on XDA, you should get around $300 for it if you take care of it)
Get the DROID! It didnt sell over 1 million units in 74 days for nothing. i know you dont like Moto

moto isn't a good company. They been saying for a few months that the droid will get the 2.1 update in a week but it has been pushed back a lot of times. They finally pushed the update but to the milestone (droid's name for other countries) so now the droid users are pissed.
I would only choose moto for an android phone as a last resort because HTC is the brand for me.
WOW! The HTC Legend looks amazing!!

I thought the supersonic/EVO was the android version of HD2.
only thing I like about the HD2 is how big the screen is...yet so thin like a razor, but I'd much rather wait...even if the devs dished out a android rom for it tonight, I don't want to waste my upgrade on a WMO phone regardless of it's value or capability...simply because I'm stubborn
As far as the Desire goes, I believe it will be coming to T-mobile and if not, more likely a universal unlocked release like the N1...but as far as the Verizon only rumor, bullsh*t. HTC would never let me down like Moto did with the Droid
I have had up close experience with the N1, (friend of mines owns it), lovely phone, simply the best Android has to offer right now until proven otherwise by a later release, but I'm not going for it
If I'm going dish $500 bucks or more for something it will most def. be the Desire...because that is what I desire
Hey everyone!
I've been following Anroid for a while and when Google announced the N1 for AT&T I almost bit but decided to hold off for the SuperSonic... Now I know I'm jumping ship!
My contract is up this summer and I'm going to get this phone. I don't care how much it is. I highly doubt that Apple has anything up their sleeve this good.
Anyway, I've been very into the jailbreaking community for the iPhones and have gathered that this is the place to be for information on Android phones, so I'm coming over and posting to say hi and join the rest of you waiting for this phone to hit pockets around the USA.

I like to say goodbye to my iPhone too, but HTC won't bring a GSM version to Australia.
Yes, there has been tens of so called iPhone killers in the past, but I think this is the only one that I really take serious notice, and would not hesitate switching to. Just unfortunate that they don't have a world model.
Why would HTC not first concentrate on a GSM model as it usually does? After all, anyone travelling around would require it to be a GSM model rather than CDMA model, I would have thought. This phone is useless if you travel a lot.
wait for nexus one to be useable in your countries, it's been said it's comming for certain to most countires. It's going to be the "universal android phone" There may be some who have already figured out how to use it in some way/shape/form on the frequencies you use. A little research will provide the answer.
Waiting for a cdma, sprint exclusive phone to come to your country... yea... good luck with that. Nexus one will have almost everything this has minus the .5 inch difference in screen size, hdmi out, and kickstand. And some senceUI if that's your thing. I know this is for the EVO but this phone just ain't gonna happen in your country unless you're america.
Crying about why CDMA was chosen over GSM, do you realize the only android phones sprint has are still running 1.5, and have outdated processors in them? Yea **** those CDMA guys and their lousy network.... I'm on GSM and I need 5 superphones, you CDMA guys don't deserve anything. Go back to using push to talk dumbphones... you freaking douches

the evo was designed by htc and sprint, hand in hand. the market for smartphones in the US is pretty big now. and with sprint being the first to launch 4g it was only right, in a business aspect for them both to do this. it has nothing to do with gsm vs cdma. although a lot of us here in the states can agree that cdma rules over gsm! ive had both tmo and att within this last year and by far i like sprint the most. coverage, cost and now the best phone on the planet to date!

Is that so? Does it imply that HTC couldn't offer the same phone under other name to the other market then?
I had always thought that evo is just a variant of HTC Supersonic which was designed mainly by HTC, and that HTC would be free to repackage it anyway it sees fit for the other market.
I've not personally used a CDMA phone myself as it is rather uncommon in our part of the world, so we don't really have the option of using it even if it is really better than GSM.

I'm guessing that the Supersonic was the code name for the Evo 4G. I like the HTC Bravo was the code name for the Desire. And the HTC Passion/Dragon was the code name for the Nexus One.

It's kind of a tough call at this point. If I remember correctly, technically there's no need for the FCC to approve the merger. I think it has to do more with regulations and the fact that the merger could potentially cause a monopoly with the GSM market. The funniest part about it, when you look at European markets you only have what, 3 major options depending on where you live?
Back to the OP, i would love for t-mobile to get the SGS2 but I almost don't see that happening, at least according the road map. I'll be surprised if the Hercules turns out to be the SGS2 and not something comparable.

i dont see a reason why tmobil wouldnt get the sg2! first off more people will buy a sg2 then a hercules, thats a no brainer. So thats more money for them so im puzzled by this if we dont get it!!! If we dont get it i can see why there in trouble........
are you sure tmo isnt just screwing with us and hercules is the sgs2. ha ha we fooled ya.
Lol if sgs2 doesn't come.
Hercules is definitely faster and better than it.
I'm just worried about
1) screen size
2) no updates
i hope t-mobile will have sg2, the phone is too amazing to pass up. i am sure more ppl will buy that phone more than hercules.
Honestly, if they dont release the GS2 (which looks like a more reasonable phone) I'll end up buying the ATT version and using it. Hercules is to big (wide).

.2" bigger than the HD2 Screen That phone fits perfectly in my pocket Like the bigger screen idea.......... but I want to know how the battery or what battery will give enough power that I am not crying about battery life.
The Hercules looks way better than the S2 by specs...we will see
so nobody knows for sure if tmobil is passing on the sg2? i wish i did.
My guess is that T-mobile won't launch the SGS2 with the other carriers.
Is that a mistake? Yes... but T-mobile probably felt like they didn't have any 4.3" devices and they probably thought that the Hercules would be similar enough to the Galaxy S 2 to satisfy people looking to upgrade.
What t-mobile probably didn't gamble on is how much buzz and good press the Galaxy S 2 has gotten.
I've been with T-mobile for a number of years and they usually have the worst selection of high tech phones.
If not for the Vibrant, there is not really an Android phone I would be able to point to as being a "top phone". G2 has a locked bootloader and the MyTouch is rather average.
Verizon usually gobbles up the good stuff.

You don't have to wait for the merger to be complete, as long as the phone you purchase now has the correct bands to work on At&t.

Yup that pretty much sums it up. Hopefully this turns out to be a good experience, instead of the nonsense Samsung put us through the first time around.
Lets be honest, T-mobile will release the Hercules and 3-6 months later release the SGS2. They did this with the original MyTouch 3G/MyTouch3G w/headphone port, and they did it with the Vibrant 3G/Vibrant 4G (still pissed bout that one). It's just how things work at T-mobile. IMO, the news of unlocked bootloaders from HTC has really got me considering the Sensation... if its not too late to unlock the Sensation. The only reason is the dev support for HTC products, and not to mention, HTC's superior support for their customers.

Currently trying out the LTE version from Verizon. Not all that bad.
Price is steep - but this is replacing my old Mifi device, so when I combine that with the price of the device and the contract it's all the same to me.
So far so good - and happy with it's performance as hot spot for my laptop.

Yea I'm kind of considering picking up the lte version. I'm already paying for a tablet plan so I could just move it to that line. However, the lack of developer support for the verizon version is holding me back. Not to mention it will probably be months before it sees ICS which will really help with HCs performance...
Would love to see some or A dev jump on for this device. That happens and I'll spring the 700 for that beautiful samoled goodness.
Good day! Just wanted to say that I'm so freaking out about this phone. I don't really do that much, but it is simply awesome and I really hope the carriers keep up with the updates this time (looking at you AT&T, last provider on earth to update the One X to JB, and haven't STILL). Sold my One X for this, and I really hope that HTC does well with this phone because I loved the One X as I'm sure I'll love this thing. Now, to a couple of questions that I'd like answers to:
Do you think we'll get screwed over by carriers like AT&T again with this phone (if you had a One X before)?
What feature are you most looking forward to in the One?
What would you buy one of these for off Craigslist (assume slightly used, no scratches or screen)?
What accessories are you going to be interested in (besides headphones)?
