So with all this news of hercules does that mean Tmobil passed on getting the sg2? and if so why would they pass on the sg2? So if for sure were not getting the sg2 i may get the hercules but i wanna know for sure that were not getting the sg2?

It's kind of a tough call at this point. If I remember correctly, technically there's no need for the FCC to approve the merger. I think it has to do more with regulations and the fact that the merger could potentially cause a monopoly with the GSM market. The funniest part about it, when you look at European markets you only have what, 3 major options depending on where you live?
Back to the OP, i would love for t-mobile to get the SGS2 but I almost don't see that happening, at least according the road map. I'll be surprised if the Hercules turns out to be the SGS2 and not something comparable.

i dont see a reason why tmobil wouldnt get the sg2! first off more people will buy a sg2 then a hercules, thats a no brainer. So thats more money for them so im puzzled by this if we dont get it!!! If we dont get it i can see why there in trouble........
are you sure tmo isnt just screwing with us and hercules is the sgs2. ha ha we fooled ya.
Lol if sgs2 doesn't come.
Hercules is definitely faster and better than it.
I'm just worried about
1) screen size
2) no updates
i hope t-mobile will have sg2, the phone is too amazing to pass up. i am sure more ppl will buy that phone more than hercules.
Honestly, if they dont release the GS2 (which looks like a more reasonable phone) I'll end up buying the ATT version and using it. Hercules is to big (wide).

.2" bigger than the HD2 Screen That phone fits perfectly in my pocket Like the bigger screen idea.......... but I want to know how the battery or what battery will give enough power that I am not crying about battery life.
The Hercules looks way better than the S2 by specs...we will see
so nobody knows for sure if tmobil is passing on the sg2? i wish i did.
My guess is that T-mobile won't launch the SGS2 with the other carriers.
Is that a mistake? Yes... but T-mobile probably felt like they didn't have any 4.3" devices and they probably thought that the Hercules would be similar enough to the Galaxy S 2 to satisfy people looking to upgrade.
What t-mobile probably didn't gamble on is how much buzz and good press the Galaxy S 2 has gotten.
I've been with T-mobile for a number of years and they usually have the worst selection of high tech phones.
If not for the Vibrant, there is not really an Android phone I would be able to point to as being a "top phone". G2 has a locked bootloader and the MyTouch is rather average.
Verizon usually gobbles up the good stuff.

You don't have to wait for the merger to be complete, as long as the phone you purchase now has the correct bands to work on At&t.
I'm assuming most of the phones to come out on t-mobile will soon have the correct bands to work on At&t.

Yup that pretty much sums it up. Hopefully this turns out to be a good experience, instead of the nonsense Samsung put us through the first time around.
Lets be honest, T-mobile will release the Hercules and 3-6 months later release the SGS2. They did this with the original MyTouch 3G/MyTouch3G w/headphone port, and they did it with the Vibrant 3G/Vibrant 4G (still pissed bout that one). It's just how things work at T-mobile. IMO, the news of unlocked bootloaders from HTC has really got me considering the Sensation... if its not too late to unlock the Sensation. The only reason is the dev support for HTC products, and not to mention, HTC's superior support for their customers.

There is nothing the new iPhone that will come out this year have that will be better than the EVO!!! **** I want it
I'm personally sick of chasing phones, my n1 seems pretty cool still, nothing really kicks its arse...
Plus imo its too big.. the hd2 looked way bigger than my n1 when I compared them...
4.0 would be perfect... I most definitely ain't switching providers.... n1 for me all year unless a better processor comes out I could care less about the camera and front camera... just my opinion...
But looks cool though
I don't think the big screen is gonna be pocket friendly and HTC is just throwing phones out there that won't reach quick updates like the Nexus. Sure the Evo is better spec'd but the support the Nexus will get from Google will keep it at the top until Googles Nexus Two. I just think all these random HTC Android phones like the Incredible, Desire, and the Evo are one and done androids. They will get Android 3.0 like 8 months after the Nexus and that will most likely be it. While the Nexus is there getting fed updates.
I really am excited to see applrs response to all these amazing phones.
getting it on the first day without a doubt.
CDMA fail...
After switching from an iPhone 3gs I really have come to despise exclusivity agreements with carriers the way the EVO 4g will be. If HTC goes out of their way to make the EVO 4g available on all the carriers the way Google is going to do with the N1 then I would consider EVO 4g but otherwise I wont support that kind of shady business practice anymore. This is why I support an open company like Google which puts the customer first and gives them options they are asking for.

Ok.. so while a couple of you have good point, it seems that the majority is in denial because you already bought the Nexus One. At the end of the day, this is going to help Android increase their market share, which is what we all should be rooting for.

I like to say goodbye to my iPhone too, but HTC won't bring a GSM version to Australia.
Yes, there has been tens of so called iPhone killers in the past, but I think this is the only one that I really take serious notice, and would not hesitate switching to. Just unfortunate that they don't have a world model.
Why would HTC not first concentrate on a GSM model as it usually does? After all, anyone travelling around would require it to be a GSM model rather than CDMA model, I would have thought. This phone is useless if you travel a lot.
wait for nexus one to be useable in your countries, it's been said it's comming for certain to most countires. It's going to be the "universal android phone" There may be some who have already figured out how to use it in some way/shape/form on the frequencies you use. A little research will provide the answer.
Waiting for a cdma, sprint exclusive phone to come to your country... yea... good luck with that. Nexus one will have almost everything this has minus the .5 inch difference in screen size, hdmi out, and kickstand. And some senceUI if that's your thing. I know this is for the EVO but this phone just ain't gonna happen in your country unless you're america.
Crying about why CDMA was chosen over GSM, do you realize the only android phones sprint has are still running 1.5, and have outdated processors in them? Yea **** those CDMA guys and their lousy network.... I'm on GSM and I need 5 superphones, you CDMA guys don't deserve anything. Go back to using push to talk dumbphones... you freaking douches

the evo was designed by htc and sprint, hand in hand. the market for smartphones in the US is pretty big now. and with sprint being the first to launch 4g it was only right, in a business aspect for them both to do this. it has nothing to do with gsm vs cdma. although a lot of us here in the states can agree that cdma rules over gsm! ive had both tmo and att within this last year and by far i like sprint the most. coverage, cost and now the best phone on the planet to date!

Is that so? Does it imply that HTC couldn't offer the same phone under other name to the other market then?
I had always thought that evo is just a variant of HTC Supersonic which was designed mainly by HTC, and that HTC would be free to repackage it anyway it sees fit for the other market.
I've not personally used a CDMA phone myself as it is rather uncommon in our part of the world, so we don't really have the option of using it even if it is really better than GSM.

anyways im hearing the phone itself won't be in sprint stores and you cannot get it serviced at sprint either. you have to buy it online from google and send it in for repairs, is this true? if soo i smell a BIG fail coming. will the phone even be branded with a sprint logo at all?

Well, the problem is that since you bought it from google.com, when you have problems and call Sprint for help, they can say "You have to call Google."
Of course, Google doesn't seem to have any publicly available phone numbers for you to call, so you're stuck with their worthless message boards...
Plus, if the actual hardware craps out, you can't walk into a Sprint store and get it replaced the same afternoon, you have to deal with shipping in two directions and be without a phone for a week....
Or at least that seems to be the major complaint about the N1 currently on the market....

Hang on to your hero then. I still have every phone in my sig as a backup. I'm glad that google is doing SOMETHING to shake up the status quo a bit. Remember if you buy phones that are sold and supported by sprint, you'll have to wait on sprint for things like android 2.1, just like we're doing now. If google is able to get sprint (and other us carriers) to budge from their traditional phone-tied-to-carrier model, it'll just put us one step closer to breaking the wireless phone oligopoly.
Many years ago, you had to buy your land line telephones from your land line provider. They were sold and supported there, and they had very high costs. Then over time, that changed and people bought phones that weren't branded by their carrier. (or supported by them either, omg!). I'm sure it was a very scary time, but think about how ridiculous that sounds today.

I know some people have been turned off from the lack of updates from Samsung/Verizon or whatever. (I blame Bing)
Unlike other people, after owning the Fascinate.. I actually would love to buy another Samsung phone.
I can't give up the SAMOLED screen. I actually like the over-saturated colors. They give it a POP in comparison to other screens.
What's next.... Samsung Droid Charge... meh.... Not sure why this has no appeal to me? Anyone else feel the same?
However, the Galaxy S 2, I'm completely drooling over this phone....Anyone think the Galaxy S 2 would come to VZW - or the US... ?

WHOA. I had no idea it was that close to release, I thought it would come out in September at the earliest. Geez, I wonder if I Verizon will let me trade in my Fascinate for it, and I just pay whatever difference there is. My phone sound quality sucks, the GPS is a mixed bag, and I can complain about them not pushing Froyo to their phone yet (yes, I do currently have a Froyo rom on my phone, but it's still a legitimate complaint since it's a leak I have running). I really really want the new Galaxy S II. Worst case scenario, I'll have to find some way of getting the money to purchase it for full-price off contract.
According to a leaked Verizon roadmap, the SGS2 may arrive as early as next month on Verizon(with LTE!):
"Verizon’s spring roadmap has 8 Android phones releasing in less than 60 days"
I am sorry, but that Road Map is fake (I hope I'm wrong). I would LOVE the S2 to come out next month... but... I'd look for it by the end of the summer. The only question is, will it be the actual S2, or an altered step child like the Fascinate to the Original Galaxy S?
We should make a list for upcoming non-Samsung phones.

I know I definitely plan on making the S2 my next phone. I'm with the OP in that I'm not at the least turned off by Samsung. I blame Verizon. I've been through this before with the OG Storm. Yes, Rim was responsible for some hardware issues but in the software realm, Verizon sucked in releasing timely firmware to fix software glitches. I had to rely upon the BB community in order to get my phone up to snuff. If Verizon didn't have such a large and reliable network, I'd leave them.

For the "Samsung Galaxy S 2 Attain(at&t), Function(Verizon), and Within(Sprint)", but nothing about T-Mobile.
I suppose 1this could be 1 of many things, either T-mobile just hasn't come up with a name yet, that case is for some reason not allowed to mention the T-mobile version, the t-mobile version will be physically different, T-mobile isn't actually getting one, etc...
I wouldn't personally assume the last one, but it still makes it seem like anyone with T-mobile will be waiting the longest. It also goes to show we will probably not be getting one phone to rule them all and have to deal with different versions, then again maybe they will just each be individually branded but development can still span each one but I am not holding my breath.
I dunno, just didn't see this posted and was yelling "Noooooo!" at my laptop so I figured I would risk being an ass hat by posting this.
It's okay, I was thinking the same thing when I didn't see a post. Anyway, I think this and the postponement of the May 24th event in NYC was the last straw for me. It probably means that it'll be at least a month before any carrier gets the SGSII and I just can't wait that long. I'm probably going to get the Sensation and just find alternative apps to cover the crappy codec support if it actually has decent audio hardware.
it could just mean 3 to 6 more month before we get the Tmobile version
just like the Nexus S
Sprint took like 6 month after, before they got theirs, which was just released by the way
I'm on T-Mobile too, and I sure hope they release within the next month or so... I've been waiting since the MWC show and thought it would be sooner, but since this will be my first smart phone, so I guess patience is the word of the day.
Or maybe in anticipation of the merger, t-mobile just decided to let at&t release it

No chance. That thing isn't happening for at least another year or so and hopefully, it might not even happen at all.
Maybe no S2 for now but TMO is releasing the Samsung "Hawk" on June 8.

I'm waiting until the Sensation launches and if there's no solid launch date by then, that's it. My contract was over in February, I don't know why I still haven't jumped at getting a new phone yet and we're already in May.

by that time samsung will announce a new version of the phone. And then this same process starts again...!
If T-Mobile is delaying the release of the SGS2, they might as well skip it and be the first to release the SGS3.
Hopefully it just means the tmo version is slightly different and would require a different gel case. Samsung sold a **** tons of Vibrants so I hardly think tmo would skip out on this one. Does anyone know which carrier sold more sgs's? I tried searching for numbers but just keep coming up with overall sgs sales.

Oh, it will happen. As a recent example, Google "Meredith Attwell Baker". :-( We get what we vote for

Hold up, she doesn't just get to wave a finger and pass this merger based on her vote, does she?

No mention of a T-Mobile SGSII here. Does this mean that its really not happening? =(

Hercules anyone? 4.5 screen is sick, I'm kinda jealous.
maybe thats the alternative to the SGS2 for T-Mob.
Yeah but its coming out in September, much later than when the other SGSII variants are supposed to arrive on other carriers. I wish they just left it alone like what they did in the design of the Vibrant and released it during the summer.
They are gonna get it I read somewhere were this Guy was told by a Samsung Rep that they are getting it he also said that vibrant had best sales so there is no question that there getting it cuz there trying to make money duhh

I hope you're right. All these recent stories about the SGSII not showing hints of a T-Mobile variant are really starting to make me wonder if all the waiting I did was for nothing.
