wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre3.apk - Droid Incredible General

Has anyone tried wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre3.apk or the wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre2.apk on incredible. Does it work, do you have to to do anything special to make it work.
I currently have wireless_tether_2_0_2.apk working well on my incredible. however i wanted to try the wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre3.apk as i heard WAP has been added.
thanks

just tested it and it does work.

I'll second that, works great.

See my post in the development forum. You need a modified kernel for it to work in ap mode + WPA2. Otherwise, it still works in ad-hoc mode with WEP.
If you are running a cm6 or skyraider rom, you already have a kernel capable of ap mode.
If you're running a stock rom (like me) you will need to use my modified kernel for ap mode and WPA2 to work.

[Q] wifi unable to obtain ip address after flash

Forgive me if I missed it, but I've been trying to figure out the answer to a problem with my wifi connection.
Basically I had a rooted stock release on my samsung fascinate and I wanted to get the newest official version. So I installed clockwork mod via the marketplace and downloaded the most recent official update's .zip from the web. I couldn't get clockwork to work, tried several things but just couldn't get it to flash the update, (kept saying the update.zip was unsigned). So I thought... "oh well I'll just use odin to flash back to unrooted stock, update 2 or 3 versions ota, then root again." This worked but somewhere in the mess I lost the ability for wifi to start up, just cycles on and off every couple seconds when you try to turn it on.
I flashed back to stock via odin again, then it would stay powered on. However, now while the phone can see the networks when I try to get it to connect it sits on the "obtaining IP address from..." option until it finally says unsuccessful. I've tried purposely inputing the wrong wep password but it doesn't complain it's wrong, so I don't think it's even getting that far.
That's pretty much the state of it now, however I also tried updating to both the stock and debloated versions of the leaked froyo rom from a post here with no change, and have cleared cache/hard rest several times.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!
What rom are you currently on, and what modem (baseband) are you currently on?
Number one, you need to flash CWM with Odin, or else you get that unsigned error. Number two, have you tried manually inputting the ip address, subnet, and gateway? If you try manually and it doesn't work, then try power cycling the router. (unplug it for 30 seconds).
Since you say you Odin-ed back to stock it's unlikely that the wifi got messed up there, so I'm more inclined to check the router. What model router is it?
I'm currently using a rom of the leaked froyo eb01 which was debloated / deodexed, with root and clockworkmod, downloaded from a post here on the site that was left by TAPOUT27 (I'd link to it but the forum will not let me). Baseband is S:500.04.V.EB01. Was considering installing superclean, but decided I don't want to keep switching it up while trying to troubleshoot.
By the time I figured out I needed to flash clockwork via odin I had already flashed back to stock... (my noob mistake)
I thought it might be the router at first too, but I've power cycled it, my other devices (laptop, wireless bridge, wifes stock fascinate) all work. and I've also tried it with a couple networks that I don't usually have a problem with in work to no avail. Also tried using a static IP on phone, but not working.
By any chance are you using a time warner modem with built in router?
The router at home is an actiontec MI424WR that Verizon fios installed, at work it's a Verizon mifi 2200.
I was able to add another piece to the puzzle today and now it only gets stranger. I tried connecting via WPA encription and it worked fine. So it looks like it's only WEP and open networks that are broken. Tried with both routers to verify.
bump......
Whoa this.one is a mystery. I'll try to think of some things to try..
I was beginning to think it was a hardware thing until it connected via WPA, now I'm sure it's got to be a software thing.
Try resetting your router..worked when I had same issue.

Tried that, but it's not just one router, it's three, and they all work when other devices try to connect. on all settings not just WPA.
I had similar problem and i run 2. Make sure master has DHCP server on and the 2 slaves do not act as dchp servers, also make sure settings on all 3 for RIP are set to"both" and use RIP1 which is universal. That solved my issues connecting.
Rock on

Please don't take this the wrong way, but your reasoning is backwards. When troubleshooting a problem, the most likely culprit is always whatever changed most recently. That doesn't mean that's always the answer, but in most cases, whatever changed right before the issue happened is the cause of the problem.
Restoring with Odin is a massive change, and is not foolproof. Since wifi worked fine before the Odin flash, doesn't afterward, and other wifi devices still work on the same router, the logical explanation is that something went haywire in the Odin flash. I would suggest using all available wiping methods (factory reset within the OS, and data/cache/dalvik cache within CWM), and then attempt another Odin flash using Adrynalyne's stock DI01 package, and see what happens after that.

[Q] Wireless-N driver unstable when connect to Win7 AP/connectify?

After i flashed HCDR.Kernel v4.1, the connection drop randomly when my wildfire try connect to Win7 Access Point(Connectify).
However, issue seems to be gone if i revert back to HCDR.Kernel V3.
I wonder if anyone facing same problem. Is there a way to fix this with V4.1 kernel?
Try v4.2. Although that has the issue of the clock speeds being set at 19 - 768 by default. But, if it boots for you, you can use SetCPU or something to change the clock speeds back to normal.
4.2 changed the Wi Fi Driver over 4.1, so, it should fix the issue.
If it still doesn't, some member modified the kernel so that it is stable and with the new Wi Fi driver. That thread should be there somewhere in the Wildfire Android Development Forum.
unfortunately, kernel v4.2 won't work on DK custom for wifi. kernel v3 is unstable even it booted, wildfire reboot occasionally even if cpu set at 518max.
I found the mod kernel with fixing wifi sleep (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967746). Yet no luck. Reverting back to original kernel atm.
seems like it is the compatible problem with my connectify host on wifi N mode.
It works fine after it flashed the homemade kernel from HCDR source with N mode disable.
Another issue is the connection drop, should be due wifi sleep issue. It goes away after i use wifi fixer.

BT, GPS & USB Tethering Working with CM7 Nightly & Radio

As the thread suggests, after resetting & switching to nighty #106 those things that weren't working now are.
Before this the
+GPS didnt work (that was fixed by latest radio flash though not rom)
+Bluetooth didnt work (no discovery tection by either device)
+Usb Tethering didntwork (would enable then disable immediately)
as for wifi, i think it worked b4 too.

connects but can't get wifi

I hope someone can help me with this.
I have an ideos X5 and this happens with both aurora and miui roms (all ICS).
At home, I can connect perfectly to my WPA2 PSK network and use it.
At work, I can connect to the WPA2 PSK network, I get all dhcp settings, but can't connect to anything. I can't even get dns resolution for google.com.
The laptop and my ICS tablet both work perfectly on these networks.
Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot and solve this problem?
Both aurora and miui already worked in this network, but I can't reproduce it now, even with wipes and different versions installed.
Happns the same with since yesterday! I'm using the Elora ROM, and already reinstalled it over and over and still doenst work =( any help??

Go to the latest Elora/Aurora zip/update that worked and extract wpa_supplicant from system/bin/
replace it with the one on your phone.
reboot

Wifi problem 4.0.4 ++ U880 Roms

So I flashed with several roms, like AuroraSP, CM 10.1/10.2 And non of them the wifi actually worked, or It did work, but there was a bug or something like a connecting loop, Where i attempt to connect to the network, it says connecting then it stops connecting, over and over.
Wifi workes in 2.2 and 2.3 default firmware, and custom roms.
So i don't see what the problem is, as It's bothering me sick that i cant use 4.x roms.

Do u still face that problem? if yes then check ur mac address to these roms. if it's 00:00:00.. then u should put the right one with a terminal emulator. go to wifi hit properties and check the wifi mac address
wifi-mac address fixed
