My SGS connection to my linksys router at home is not working correctly. Sometimes it's all fine - sometimes it hangs forever. But on many other routers, e.g. at work, no problem!
I'm using Darky's 8.1, but the problem also existed on the stock JPY 2.1.1. Please help?
I have also heard that it is possible to downgrade the wlan drivers in the phone, is that correct? (id like to try)
hi! i've just updated my phone from cm7 beta5.1 to beta 6, and now it can't seem to find any wifi network, nor can connect to a manually added one. is that normal, do any of you guys experience the same? pls help me!
Did you try to clear the cache and dalvik cache?
yeah, but no luck... my home network doesn't even show, and it finds some other networks but with lowest signal strenght (there's nothing wrong with my home network, everything else is working fine...)

First -> Post in the CM7 Rom Thread for Bugs and report it in the github
Second -> Try "FXR WiFi Fixer" from the Market, that worked for me!

If you use 802.11n network on your wireless router, try to set it to 802.11g to test if it can connect. Is it WPA/WPA2 PSK?

the router is set to g, not n, and yeah, it's wpa 2 psk.
try to backup then put a clean sbf
tried that, reflashed the kernel, then installed cm7 again, but now after i choose 2nd-init as default boot it shows a blank screen with the backlight on, and nothing happens... wtf is going on?!
okay, solved, had to set the regulatory domain to 14 channels in advanced settings, worked like a charm thanks to all of you who tried to help!
mine just got this problem tonight..
its happen when i try to connect to an open network..
then after that my wifi kinda dead already,
cant see any network at all
tried use channel 14 as TS said. but no luck.
any more help pls,
my phone almost useless rite now without wifi..
did you try to add a network manually? and did it work without problems before cm7? try wiping cache first, then if nothing changes, factory reset (wiping data)!

all must download from market.. (which i cant rite now)
fix my wifi doesnt work for me...
try fxr wifi fix, that might work! so it worked for a while, than nothing? cus then wiping could fix that!

sorry to bring back this old thread. i had this problem after my daughter updated her router and drove me crazy wondering why my defy now won't even see her wifi network
found out, after 2 days of frustration, her netgear nighthawk r7000 router's 2.4ghz signal on auto had selected channel 12 or 13 (i didn't verify which one) and that's why. then i found out even after i change the regulatory domain to 13 channels, it default back to 11 channels upon rebooting the phone!!! how crazy!!!???
since europe is using 13 channels, why are these roms, made in europe by european, defaults to 11 channels!!!??? doesn't make sense at all. don't you europeans use channel 12 and 13?
hope some developers here can provide an answer. i really hope they change all their roms to 14 channels so we don't have this problem again.....

Ok this is my problem,
I just installed GalnetMIUI Chameleon RC3 and i cant get wifi to work.
It connects to different networks fine BUT i cant get on the internet,
I checked so i get IP and if you go to *#*#4636#*#* you can run a test also, and it passed, it checks against google.com.
But when i go to Market or my browser it wont get internet.
Suggestions?

happened to me once with both, galnet and gangterjoop version. Rebooting the phone solved the problem.
(i know you prolly did already, but if you didnt..)
For some reason wifi worked at work but wont connect when I get home. It will say authenticating but then doesnt connect. And when it shows in the list it says my network is disabled.Anyone got any ideas?

reboot into recovery then wipe cache + dalvik then fix permissions. reboot, turn off wifi then turn it on again, see if that works

hmmm, are you connected to your home network? sometimes I forget to connect back to my home network after using wifi at work maybe a router issue?? just a guess
I was trying to connect to my home net work. Put in the password and everything. Got fed up and did a full wipe and its working now. I had just flashed while I was at work and then the demonspeed v9 kernel everything was fine till i tried to connect to my home network. Think it may have been because I flashed through ROM manager I always have issues when I do that. That will be the last time I do.

I just set up Swiftdroid v2.0 RC5 with my 540, however, I wanted to set up WiFi after that to download some apps. The problem is that I can't connect to my router, after entered the correct key it says 'Authentification', and some seconds later it aborts and says 'Deactivated', it simply doesn't connect, while other machines (i.e. my laptop, my sister's PC) are able to use our WiFi.
Help would be appreciated.

Flash the ROM again I don't have problems with WiFi..
I actually flashed RC4 twice yesterday, I thought RC5 would solve that problem, so I installed it, sadly it didn't. I don't think that that problem is caused by a hardware error as WiFi worked with the raw 2.1.

Are you sure that you entered the correct password? If you know it's correct, revise your router configuration and change the password of the wireless point to something different and try again. If all else fail, install Connectify on a Wifi compatible computer and tether your internet connection.

its either the wrong password or your system!!
i had a similar problem but just reflashed and problem solved!!
