Has anyone moved from Touch HD(2) to x10? - XPERIA X10 General

Has anyone moved from the HTC Touch HD or HD2 to the x10? I am currently using a Touch HD and have been for the last 2 years. I am wanting to move to Android since WinMo is pretty much dead with 7 coming out. I know Android can be loaded onto the HD but I would rather have an OEM install. I have used some of the Android ROMs on the HD. I also want 3G on T-Mo's US network and I'm not too keen on any of the phones they offer. So I'm looking for any info on how you like one over the other. Thanks!

I have an hd2 that I still use every now and then. However, I do prefer the x10 over the hd2 for most everyday functions such as phone calls and web browsing.
On a whole, the x10 just seems to outperform the hd2, not to mention the slightly smaller screen side makes one handed use much easier.
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk

Samsung vibrant is the new hotness. Tried one out, the thing is faster than my froyo nexus one.

i got an Touch Hd but sold it and got a x10 instead.Got tired of Winmo. Before that a HTC Star Trek, HTC Diamond, Eten G500,Acer N300, all WINMO

yes Sir, I used to have HD2 before the X10
it is a nice move to a more stable OS but you will miss the Great Office application on the WM

Sent from my x10 using XDA and swype.

Still have my HD2 but will sell it soon. Even though Developers have made the Android 2.1 and Froyo work on HD2(sort of) but I rather to stay with 1.6 on Xperia because of its design. HTC need some design improvments with their phone.
I don't regret but happy with my X10.

Cool, thanks for the input everyone! I'm leaning towards getting an x10i. I've always liked SE phones too (previously had a w810i).

I've moved from the HTC HD to the X10, and some things got better for me, while others got worse.
Got better
+ Better aesthetics and physical design, feels lighter and more comfortable in hand
+ Better sound quality through 3.5mm jack and superior bundled earphones
+ Organized marketplace with more free apps than on any other OS
+ Many great apps, such as AstridTasks, which allows you to create tasks on your phone and sync them with rememberthemilk.com, as well as any desktop calendar app with support for subscriptions, like iCal on OS X.
+ Mac OS sync with Sony Ericsson Media Sync
+ Google Maps has Street View
+ Native support for many languages, such as Japanese
+ Highly customizable OS
+ Speed and stability makes MSM7201A and WinMo combo seem like a bad dream
Got worse
- Capacitive touchscreen lacks precision
- Keyboard isn't as intelligent as on HTC's devices
- Very low ring and alarm clock volume
- YouTube videos don't play in full screen unless they're native 16:9
- Picture gallery doesn't have smooth transition effects like on Touch Flo 3D
- No real Office Mobile alternative
- Many applications have ads
- No support for Hebrew or Arabic

I was tossing up between the two, and while I had a million WM apps that I came to rely upon, getting off the WM OS was the biggest benefit I could think of...

i have both hd2 and x10 , but to be honest i prefere my hd2 over the x10 , wm email support , office and some business features that i need allot doesnot exist in x10, x10 is only for fun not for any thing else , and using dual boot android on my hd2 now made me forget that i have x10 , i haven't charged it for two weeks now

well i come from the htc hd stable and frankly speaking, i sumtimes miss my hd.
wm is by far the most mature os. android will may be in the next few updates get to the level of wm.
certain nifty things exist tht can be done on wm with utmost ease where as the same thing needs a lot of E&D on android.. eg.. send/recieve business cards by sms...
but ya i have sold off my hd and now m loving the xperia..

It seems like most who like the features of WinMo are using it for business. I don't use mine for business and rarely use Office apps on my phone. I sometimes view docs/presentations on my phone for grad school but I'm graduating in a couple weeks, so I won't need it for that anymore.

Viva La Universal

The Qtek site still boasts the Uni as their flagship device. Viva la Universal!
P.S. The site may well be outdated, but I'm willing to overlook that
http://www.qtek.nu/europe/products/latestproducts.aspx
the universal its still up to date (despite it came out some time ago) one of the finest cell phone around, it has everything i ever wanted from a cellphone/pda just 3 things that i dont like
1)the camera (htc cameras always sucks)
2)the memory (my wizard reached even 32mb after soft reset whereas with the uni i have only been able to get 27mb)
3)size (no matter what you say it is big)
but i trade those things for the wow factor of the swivel screen and the processor speed every day
its good to have a nice device i have had many compliments from people (good and bad)

had it a week now..

after waiting for the hero to come out on T mobile for ages..i was disappointed that it was only available in black! found an online deal that allowed me to have the white unbranded on t mobile web n walk
Previous phone history (recent): SPV e100, SPV C550, nokia 8600, diamond now the hero...
I have to say that im HUGELY impressed with the device. The device looks and feels solid, its miles faster and nicer to use than my diamond (which i LOVED!). The screen is very clear and vibrant and really cleans easy with the oleophobic layer.
Software wise I am experiencing the odd lag and my faecbook contact photos going missing but thats about it for negatives. The market application is amazing -I love the ease at which it allows you to try new software, and how easily every integrates into the menu.
The Sense UI is very pretty and functions perfectly giving the device the nicest interface I have come across.
Over all I would rate this phone a solid 9/10 and if anyone has doubts about changing over from WinMo, in an everyday users experience android is FAR superior in ease of use and speed.
thanks
phrozen
I have come from a Diamond too and I loved my Diamond when I first got it, put WinMo 6.5 on it and then spent 6 months flashing ROMs to try and find one that was truly usable.
I have found one now... it comes with the Hero
Another Diamond user change to the Hero. Will I ver go back to WinMo - that depends on how it gets developed going forward - right now the Android implementation on the Hero leaves WinMo looking distinctly ... crap.

Getting Android onto Xperia X2

I love the look of the new Xperia X2 which, you will all surely know, is imminent! However, after having owned an X! which was a nightmare, I'm a bit cautious. Plus, I definately do not want to touch Windows Mobile, no matter what version they thrust upon us.
I currently use a G1, thankfully without T-Mobile, and was wondering what the chances of getting a full install of Android onto the phone are like? I haven't seen much about the hardware yet myself but I'm assuming the hardware is similar to that or the X1 and other high-end HTC devices. What I would really love is Android fully operational, with full usage of the hardware as the OS for the phone....not any form of emulation.
Yeah im interested on the android to i have my x2 for about a week and its a nightmare with the wm i hate it hopefully there will be some solution soon
Yeaa, me to. Im so disapointed. Xperia X2 is so slow, full of mistakes, and worthless using.
I have to agree. But going by the specs it is the exact same thing as a HTC Touch Pro 2.
Except the:
1) tilt vs slide screen (A BIG difference)
2) 3.2 no LED vs 8.0MP with LED camera (A BIG difference)
3) 288MB vs 256MB RAM (~ no difference to experience)
4) FM Radio vs N/A (some value/difference)
5) N/A vs Optical Trackpad (some value/difference)
6) 3.6" vs 3.2" screen size (~ no difference to experience)
http://www.esato.com/phones/compare.php?phone=523&cp=458
All in all, I think the HTC has more features (except for camera) but the SE has a much better overall "feel". It is prettier and more sturdy (debatable) and the keyboard on the SE is much better (debatable but see my notes). So if the HTC had the camera, look and feel of the SE it would be a real knockout. Or if the SE had the FM Radio and Tilt screen it would be the knockout.
Why SE has better keyboard:
they both have all the useful keys (+)
the HTC has more keys (5 rows) vs SE (4 rows) (-)
The SE has larger keys (+)
The SE keys are more square (+)
The SE keys have a better tactile feel (+)
THE SE has slightly more amount of discretion between each key eg unlike Moto Droid (+)
Since HTC Touch Pro 2 got the XDA-royalty for XDAndroid, it actually should be very easy to get Android 2.1 on the X2. Why? They both have virtually the same processors and internals except the camera. The only issue would be if the X2 can be flashed, any slight differences that may need different drivers or unforeseeable factors.
If this occurred, I'd rather an XDAndroid X2 over the XDAndroid TP2 (depending on its usability ofcourse).
If you guys cannot wait for Android and really dread the WinMo ugly face maybe there is a solution.
A coocked ROM with a new UI.
For eg/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670861
Which seems pretty decent.
Add in FPsece (get the full version) and some ROMS (ie games, Tekken 3, Gran Turismo 2) and your device might just be joyful after all.
Just surf xda, there might be a UI that is just for you.

Good time of day.
Who can take on porting Android to Xperia x2?
I am ready to pay the amount within reason.
This phone is very practical - I do not want another, but Windows mobile 6.5 portibni all outdated programs out vyhdyat for new mobile operating system (Android, IOS, Windows Phone ...)
I am sure that this is possible because the Xperia X1 and X2 are very similar in configuration.
Any questions please bid on:

Or put a list of all the ROM developers

Any news about android port for x2?

HTC HD2 or The Iphone?

So recently I have been trying to decide whether to get the HTC HD2 or the Iphone 3GS or 4. The only thing that is holding me back from getting the HTC HD2 Phone is whether I would be able to port Android 2.2 Froyo or 2.3 Gingerbread succsessfully without have many problems. Things that MUST WORK on the Android Port on the HTC HD2 is:
~ Camera and Video Recording ( with LED's Working)
~ Internet (E-mail etc.)
~ Video Playback & Music
~ Phone & Text
Thanks
HD2 FTW!!!
hang him!
+1 for hd2. iphone really sucks - a lot of friends have all time problems with it while apple has to fix bugs every week. on hd2 the devs fix the issues - but faster
+1 HD2
But you posted your question in the HD2 section. Not good way to get objective answers from both sides.
I have an HD2 and the only thing I would love about the iphone is the battery.
all the rest sucks no iphone!
Well unless you really like something about Windows Mobile 6.5.x then I'd suggest you go for the HTC Evo or the HTC Desire HD instead.
If you want a phone that works out of the box then go for the iphone.....if your a tweaker then take the hd2....if you just want android, then get htc desire hd
honestly, i will say the hd2...coming from a former iphone user. the ios interface is boring and non customizable. and the fact that there are no widgets drove me crazy becasue my brother had and android htc and used to show show me his home screen lol.
So my call is HD2 with miui rom like me

It was quat a bugger
I have an HD2 and an iPhone.
you're going to want the HD2. Flashing a stable and working Android ROM on the phone is very easy and fast.

Why do you want de HD2 and not the desire HD as mentioned before?
But if between those 2, i would get the HD2 with android 2.2 for the time being, as it is more stable...
Also compared to the iphone 3gs, the camera app on the HD2 with android opens a lot faster to take a picture quickly, I've compared it to a friend who has the 3gs.. I am not sure how iphone 4 is in real life, but looking at: **click** it looks like it is even slower than the 3gs. so if this is a requirement, u are better of with the HD2..
Cheers!
I used to have an iPhone 3G but i sold it and i was between iPhone 4G and HD2..
So i went with HD2 and i will stick with it cause IT ROCKSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
why bothering to buy an hd2 to put android on it, if you can just take the easy road by getting a desire hd in the first place
well either way, wether you get a desire hd,a HD2 desire Z or any other htc,There great phones and there Bullet proof, check this out http://www.wsbtv.com/news/26385757/detail.html cant say that for an iPhone can you
Go for the HD 2, you will not regret, you will fall in love with in in a giffy.....
Android friyo works perfectly, you can either dual boot winmo and android or wipe winmo and install android NAND as the root os..
I got android running as the root and no winmo. is super fast easy and i cant stop playing with in.,....
winmo was slow slugish and like all windows a headache....
Lol seriously what do you expect from an android phone on an hd2 section? But iPhone beside games app hd2 kills it.
HD2 pro:
* Bigger screen (4.3 vs 3.5 <---- pretty massive)
* Removal battery
* Widgets!
* Flash light (the death ray dual led blinding bright and save me a few times)
* Remote desktop is amazing (I own a ipod for music at gym but haven't found a vnc or remote apps better then one on android)
* More customizeable (UI, builds, roms and etc)
* Option between different OS (window 6.5, android 2.2, android 2.3, unbuntu, meego and window 7. Granted not all builds may be fully done but android has been fully stable.)
* Better keyboard (imho)
* Cheaper apps
* Goggles turn by turn navi (not sure if this has change)
Better web surfing (flash 10 really is a beast on H steaming my anime on the go is amazing.)
HD2 cons:
* Better music player (it's an ipod lol)
* Better Facebook app
* Bigger app store
* Better Games
i love my hd2, all my friend have iphone4's. but my hd2 is better, u used to dislike my phone with winmo (cauze it sucks) but now i have a nand android rom and its perfect now. the the big screen is great for watching movies when on the road.
<3 HD2

Agreed. The HD2 will ask you several hours of reading and testing for running the best Android ROM for you. However, it is not a matter a difficulty : if you know your way around a computer, it's not difficult at all. There are really good tutorials out there and I was surprised on how easy things were with the HD2 (coming from the HTC Magic).
Of course, if you can afford yourself an iPhone 4 and really want an Android Phone, it would be smarter to go with an HTC Evo for example.
But if you like that your phone feels almost unlimited in terms of possibilities, the HD2 is what you are looking for...

danew i1012 / Thomson THBK1, dualboot win8.1 android 4.2

hello
just posting about this windows 8.1 tablet atom z3740 based like every other tablet 2gb ram 32gb ssd
i think
but it has android 4.2.2 no playstore (but u dont need it with android)
but yeah here is a link its 299€ tablet ah its okay 1micro usb otg (no full port) 1micro sd slot 1 micro hdmi and a ugly keyboard with no ports (its a slim keyboard i guess)
http://www.danew.com/fiche-produits-dualboot-i1012.php
its french
to lazy to translate
but its okay i think and has a touch windows logo (only thing i find better then the asus t100 who hasent one its only a sitcker there)
or look for the thomson thbk1 its the same. only logo is different. http://www.amazon.fr/Thomson-THBK1-10-32-Tablette-daccueil-Microsoft/dp/B00JE4OK40
tested it a little, mouse pad isnt clickable. and has no Full usb port.
so its a no for me.
here some pictures
yop,
mini to normal usb is provided.
tablet is cool. main problem is the oleophobic surface sucks, but android is working nicely.
no playstore no root for now. 4.2.1 only.
I'm still trying to backup the whole emmc chip, but i have troubles
once it'll be done, i could quietly try to root it. Should not be very problematic if we could have (and i see them in partition manager) access to ext filesystems.
lcd is correct, although resolution is relatively low and max luminosity could have been brighter.
still looking for a forum of users, seems there are not atm

yeah but the trackpad on keyboard has no click? i tried in shop but couldnt click it.
and yeah but that means no external HDD (u need full usb port that gives power) if i want a tablet a full usb port should be great to have
and yeah but u can install playstore no? just download the apk?
but its cheap. just want a cheap tablet
the only no reason for the asus t100 is the 'no touch windows logo homebuton) if that was a capasitive key i would buy it.
it has usb3. and a great battery.
i will wait and see if there will come other 300€tablet with windows a bit better.

Yes i agree - i was mainly interested in Win + Android, but honestly, this is because i need both. This is not so bad, but this is globally the worse of both:
- for windows, what you mention (not enough power for an hard drive, barely for an usb thumb, no clic - you have to use touchpad, n right clic - you have to keep pressed the touchpad). Impossible to boot to usb thumb too, etc... (or i did not found the trick)
- for android, actually we are locked at 4.2.2, and basically, i spent 4 hours trying to root and install playstore, but i have not a single information on the HW (i need to grab it all at hand). Having access to Android partitions from Windows help a bit tbh, at least i hope.

i just wanted some feed back on this tablet. i think i will pass.
wait for a new tablet that makes me smile and say YES i want that.
there are some at cdisount hp pavilion x2 11 (intel celeron n2910) but can't find any thing about gaming or battery life noting about it. price is okay
370€ 4gb ram 64gb ssd. but dont know about battery noting to find about it.
I bought this tablet from France a couple of months ago, because the combination of Win8.1 and Android 4.2 in tablet form is rare and because the price seemed very fair for the product. Since then, I have used both OS and have been quite satisfied. I installed the Amazon market with which I have access, just like the Play Store but without needing root, on all my apps and they play great on the Android OS. and I also sideloaded some games. The Win8.1 works as expected, most of the time it is reasonably fast but sometimes lag and freezes occur. But its certainly NOT way more often as the freezes I experience with my i7... They just happen, randomly and rarely. I played Ducktales Remastered on it and the game played silky-smooth. I'm encouraged to try other more demanding but kinda oldies games, like Kotor, Age of Mythology Extended, etc and see how they respond. Office and PDF work is easy to do, way better than on any android tablet (and I suppose the same applies for iPad). Having a full PC version of Office is really something irreproachable at the moment and the pre-installed software keyboard is very intuitive and good at predictions. I have installed firefox and I didn't have any problems with demanding sites such as the desktop version of Youtube. Sound is very good from the speakers, much better than my OPPO Find 7 and the screen brighttness is also very strong for me. The colors aren't as punchy as other screens though which is a very small bummer. Build quality is also good. The tablet isn't the thinnest around, but it has a solid feel, mostly plastic, without any strange noises so far... The keyboard is something I really like too, because it's obvious it was made for this specific tablet with the magnet dock attaching strongly and properly, and buttons that feel good. The mousepad requires gestures to use, like double tapping with two fingers to open the right-click menu and I don't find it bothersome at all. Battery life is good, but not very good. When I have a lot of work in the university (main reason I bought a tablet) I find that I can only get 2-3 days of use from the Thomson tablet, but when I use it more intermittently it can last nearly 1 week even when on Win8.1 in sleep mode.
Overall, I'm very happy for my purchase, because I was searching for a tablet that would be a minimized version of a laptop and choosing between the Thomson, Venue, Asus Tranformer models at this price range, I decided that the inclusion of Android is a bonus because it's a more casual and less battery-hungry OS that I could use alternatively, if the only thing I wanted to do with my laptop was to pass the time playing games, watching movies, or reading the news. And the Thomson Dual-Boot tablet performs admirably on both fronts and I believe that I've chosen right.
