So recently I have been trying to decide whether to get the HTC HD2 or the Iphone 3GS or 4. The only thing that is holding me back from getting the HTC HD2 Phone is whether I would be able to port Android 2.2 Froyo or 2.3 Gingerbread succsessfully without have many problems. Things that MUST WORK on the Android Port on the HTC HD2 is:
~ Camera and Video Recording ( with LED's Working)
~ Internet (E-mail etc.)
~ Video Playback & Music
~ Phone & Text
Thanks
HD2 FTW!!!
hang him!
+1 for hd2. iphone really sucks - a lot of friends have all time problems with it while apple has to fix bugs every week. on hd2 the devs fix the issues - but faster
+1 HD2
But you posted your question in the HD2 section. Not good way to get objective answers from both sides.
I have an HD2 and the only thing I would love about the iphone is the battery.
all the rest sucks no iphone!
Well unless you really like something about Windows Mobile 6.5.x then I'd suggest you go for the HTC Evo or the HTC Desire HD instead.
If you want a phone that works out of the box then go for the iphone.....if your a tweaker then take the hd2....if you just want android, then get htc desire hd
honestly, i will say the hd2...coming from a former iphone user. the ios interface is boring and non customizable. and the fact that there are no widgets drove me crazy becasue my brother had and android htc and used to show show me his home screen lol.
So my call is HD2 with miui rom like me

It was quat a bugger
I have an HD2 and an iPhone.
you're going to want the HD2. Flashing a stable and working Android ROM on the phone is very easy and fast.

Why do you want de HD2 and not the desire HD as mentioned before?
But if between those 2, i would get the HD2 with android 2.2 for the time being, as it is more stable...
Also compared to the iphone 3gs, the camera app on the HD2 with android opens a lot faster to take a picture quickly, I've compared it to a friend who has the 3gs.. I am not sure how iphone 4 is in real life, but looking at: **click** it looks like it is even slower than the 3gs. so if this is a requirement, u are better of with the HD2..
Cheers!
I used to have an iPhone 3G but i sold it and i was between iPhone 4G and HD2..
So i went with HD2 and i will stick with it cause IT ROCKSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
why bothering to buy an hd2 to put android on it, if you can just take the easy road by getting a desire hd in the first place
well either way, wether you get a desire hd,a HD2 desire Z or any other htc,There great phones and there Bullet proof, check this out http://www.wsbtv.com/news/26385757/detail.html cant say that for an iPhone can you
Go for the HD 2, you will not regret, you will fall in love with in in a giffy.....
Android friyo works perfectly, you can either dual boot winmo and android or wipe winmo and install android NAND as the root os..
I got android running as the root and no winmo. is super fast easy and i cant stop playing with in.,....
winmo was slow slugish and like all windows a headache....
Lol seriously what do you expect from an android phone on an hd2 section? But iPhone beside games app hd2 kills it.
HD2 pro:
* Bigger screen (4.3 vs 3.5 <---- pretty massive)
* Removal battery
* Widgets!
* Flash light (the death ray dual led blinding bright and save me a few times)
* Remote desktop is amazing (I own a ipod for music at gym but haven't found a vnc or remote apps better then one on android)
* More customizeable (UI, builds, roms and etc)
* Option between different OS (window 6.5, android 2.2, android 2.3, unbuntu, meego and window 7. Granted not all builds may be fully done but android has been fully stable.)
* Better keyboard (imho)
* Cheaper apps
* Goggles turn by turn navi (not sure if this has change)
Better web surfing (flash 10 really is a beast on H steaming my anime on the go is amazing.)
HD2 cons:
* Better music player (it's an ipod lol)
* Better Facebook app
* Bigger app store
* Better Games
i love my hd2, all my friend have iphone4's. but my hd2 is better, u used to dislike my phone with winmo (cauze it sucks) but now i have a nand android rom and its perfect now. the the big screen is great for watching movies when on the road.
<3 HD2

Agreed. The HD2 will ask you several hours of reading and testing for running the best Android ROM for you. However, it is not a matter a difficulty : if you know your way around a computer, it's not difficult at all. There are really good tutorials out there and I was surprised on how easy things were with the HD2 (coming from the HTC Magic).
Of course, if you can afford yourself an iPhone 4 and really want an Android Phone, it would be smarter to go with an HTC Evo for example.
But if you like that your phone feels almost unlimited in terms of possibilities, the HD2 is what you are looking for...

The news about the WP7 port to the HD2 has renewed my interest in the device (as a compulsive tweaker) but I just thought I'd give my impression of what it's been like as a HD2 owner going back to Android for the past 36 hours.
First off the difference in screen size IS OBVIOUS. The Desire's screen is a hell of a lot smaller side by side with the HD2's; however the colours on the desire really pop. Both have great screens in their own right but so far I really like the screen on the Desire. Part of the problem with the big HD2 display is that it really shows up the crappy windows CE fonts that still prevail.
Android 2.1 is a LOT more stable than Winmo.
I've not had ONE slowdown or crash on the Desire, whereas the HD2 can be expected to freeze or suffer slowdowns on a daily basis. On the whole things seem to run more smoothly on the Desire. I do like the slick photo preview and music tabs better on the HD2 though I have to say
There is a lot of potential to customise both operating systems but Windows Mobile doesn't have as much scope for replacing CORE apps like messaging as does Android.
Input
Predictive texting is miles better on the Desire (check out MY VIDEO )
HD2 often can't work a word out just because of ONE mistyped letter; you will see in that video that even if I get practically NO letters right it still works things out. The HD2 isn't BAD as such, it's just not as friendly for fast typers like myself, despite the larger screen.
Browser - both Opera 9.7/10 and the stock HTC browser are pretty fast and there probably isn't much between them. Bigger screen is nice on HD2 but Android browser seems a bit more pleasant to use, partly due to the huge array of colours and smooth fonts. Check out this quick video I did for mr.vandalay
This is just a quick overview of a few key things I've picked up on since receiving the phone yesterday.

android leads wm by ages ,even the wp7 is not as good as android ,so i hope of android port instead of wp7
First, I'd like to apologize for what I said about "the unflattering review of the HTC HD2". I guess all that is relative, and it's a mater of individual tastes.
I decided to keep my Nexus, but still wanted to experiment with WinMo and lucky for me, one happened to fall off a truck Anyway, I must say the I'm growing quite fond of the LEO. When it's stock, it's not all that much of a comparison to the Nexus, but after trying a few custom ROMs on it it is alot more pleasing.
The Android browser IMO is far better than Opera. (maybe because I've been using it for so long, but it feels to me to be alot more user friendly.
The fact that I was able to sync my Google mail, Contacts, and Calendar thru ActiveSync was a definite plus.
The LEO display is very nice indeed, the only thing I miss is having the trackball. I don't use it very much on the Nexus, but you really notice not having it available on the LEO.
I'm very happy with the LEO, but I still would not trade the Nexus for one

Would the Android port be like the HTC Evo? To me, it seems just like and HTC LEO with Android and a kick-stand.
I am considering picking up and HD2 and loading it with the latest Desire HD Rom.
Before I fork out, can anyone who has seen both running side by side explain any disadvantages of doing so?
I'd like to hear how the performance is, as the DHD is blisteringly fast and if the HD2 seriously lags with the DHD rom I may well reconsider. Obviously the camera is a selling point of the DHD but when we are looking at nearly £300 difference I can live with the reduced megapixel count!
Seriously tempted to get the DHD and dual boot it with Android and Winmo 6.5 but would love to hear from you guys first about any down sides.
People who have done this already, are you pleased with the result or hankering for the DHD?
Thanks.
maybe the buttons? I hear many HD2 users complaining about them. But I must say I never have troubles with my device, I tested out some other HTC android devices and my HD2 is faster, there are roms here that get 3000 + quadrant score, and the DHD doesn't even get close to this.. But I think, the biggest problem with the HD2 is not always having cell reception. 9% of the time - 30% depending upon the area you live in ofcourse so that doesn't affect but also radio and that does affect so it takes quite a while before you found the best radio for your device, also because the radio affects your battery life. So you need to figure out a radio wich gives you optimal reception and also optimal battery life. I think a radio in the 2.10.50.X class is the best for me, but other users prefer other radio's. I use android every day so I must say, there is absolutely no lag on the HD2 but there is on other devices that run android only. THE PLUS: you can use TOMTOM, play PSX Games with PS3 controller, ... all windows things, yes you can hehe. The minus: booting android takes up to 3 minutes, okay it's not a really big deal but the DHD boots in 10 secs that's really amazing. what is cool is that our builds can be huge because we don't need an internal storage, android runs from SD, and faster than winmo even! so if you use a HIGHSPEED SD (HC), then you will have a nice android device. People are working on a 720P camcorder atm. I don't know I would doubt too! I like having winmo..
The difference is that HD2 has dozen of ROM both for Android and WM you can choose from, this in itself is a big advantage and freedom alike,I myself try an Android build at least a day!,they are fast and furious!,but keep going back to WM,nostalgia ,may be,however my son,who also has an HD2 he has become an Android fan, after he wears out this phone will most probably stick to another HD2.
Sorry if a bit off topic.I say get an HD2 this is a nice device.
Thanks for your input guyts, very helpful!
Can I just ask about the multitouch and the ability to play divx / avi videos using an application such as rockplayer / vplayer? Is this ipossible and as smooth as the native Android devices?
Multitouch I think is important for the on screen keyboard. Is this as good as the native android devices also?
I'm almost sold I think from your comments so far!

The hd2 only has 2 point multitouch, and it has issues where it will register 2 touches as being on the same axis if they are close to being on same axis. can mess you up when playing games with onscreen controllers. Newer android devices have 4 point multitouch.
I always say if you plan on just running android, get an android phone. When people say the hd2 runs android better than native android phones, they are usually comparing the tweaked, modified hd2 to a stock android phone. If you put in the time tweaking, rooting, and modifying the native android phone properly, it will run android much better than the hd2 can usually. And android phones also have custom roms with different builds you can try out also. A bunch of android phones can now dual-boot into 2 different android builds, running one off sd card, also.
Now, if you want to have winmo also on your phone, you can't beat the HD2. It does run android great for a port... definitely the best android port on a winmo phone... but you can definitely get native android phones with similar specs to run android much better if you take the time to learn to modify and tweak it like you would do with the HD2.
Despite being a big MS fan, I have not gone back to WM since getting Android working smoothly. It runs perfectly for Divx videos on VPlayer (my personal fave)(and using CifManager I even stream movies from my WLAN server when at home!), and I use PSX4Droid with absolutely no lag issues, or multi-touch issues. My one piece of advice if you go down this route is to get the extended battery, so that you get a comfortable 2-day battery life.
Day-to-day, no issues at all, although you do need some trial and error for ROMs/Radio/Kernal.
If my HD2 died tomorrow, I'd get another HD2 for Android full-time. If money was no issue, I'd get the Desire HD, but honestly I do not see any reason against the HD2.
There are some phones that set the trend for XDA. It is the most popular for the time being and most devs own that phone. It might not be the best hardware for its time but since almost all devs and cookers develop for it, it is best to stick to it. I call this XDA phone. Currently, imho, that phone is HD2. This is why HD2 gets more android builds than many native android phones. My next phone will also be an XDA phone
Hello and merry xmass to everyone.
Here is my question. I'm going to chenge my devices soon, so I dewcided to take a brand new LG Optimus 7 to test the infamous WP7. I never had a proper android device, so I'm thinking about a cheeeeep 2nd hand device to play with the green thing.
The question is: can the HD2 be in the list with devices such as the Milestone/Droid, Nexus One and other former top range android devices?
As far as I can read (and it took me so long to read every single thread in the developement forum) the android experience in the HD2 is so close to the Desire HD that you can't almost notice the difference.
So... would you buy now and HD2 to use it as an android device full time?

Well... the DHD and the Galaxy S are not exactly cheep as they are the flagship devices in androind environment. Thay would make my ne LG O7 look like the secondo choice phone and took over as main phone.
I got 200 to 250eur left for an android toy, a 2nd hand Milestone should be the best choice for that range... better than an HD2 with android on it?

Hi!
If you got 200-250e, yes, I could buy HD2 rather then milestone..
Merry Christmas
buy hd2,cause it can run multiple operatin systems already-imagine what will hapen in 3 months
#1 For HD2.........
I bought the HD2 second hand to run and test Android.
That is the one and only reason I bought it.
My situation might be a bit different as I have a E71 to do my calls with and the HD2 to toy with. Yes, that is right my HD2 has never ever made a useful phonecall.
I love it to bits but if I was only to have 1 phone I would go for a full native Android phone!
I don't see any problem with android on hd2, just don't install desire hd rom. Maybe in a few months even it will work perfectly. There isn't a cheaper and better android phone than hd2
to much battery drain, that is the main problem. also sometimes apps make problems with error messages. i made tests with several builds, but no build is for daily use.
the developers made a very good job, there is nothing to say against them.
but i think, if you want to use android for daily use then buy a desire or desire hd
I haven't found a sense build that is as smooth as it should be, but I don't know how smooth it is on a EVO or DesireHD either.
Using JDMS everything works perfectly except:
1. USB transfer - there might be a way to fix this, i just use dropbox
2. Slow GPS lock time - it takes 2-3 minutes in android, in winmo it took about 15s
3. Battery drain high in standby if GPS is left on - so you have to turn it off then turn it back on when you want to use maps. (otherwise battery is about as good as I got with WinMo
Looking at the build this is really the only 3 problems I can find. Everything else is smooth as butter and extremely stable (haven't had a freeze or restart in about 10 days with it)
The main problem right now is bettery consumption. The HD2 used to last two days with my usage pattern, with Android it's less than a day. Then speed is another issue: I haven't tried the latest RAM builds yet as they are really immature, but as is, the HD2 running DesireHD's Sense it damn slow.
That said, and given that you can find an HD2 for a very low price these days, I think it's a nice choice. I.e. an actual Desire HD consts 3 times the money. But don't expect a reliable phone that you can use daily with no problems. On the contrary, expect to try ROM after ROM and spend countless hours on XDA.

i think battery drain isnt to much of an issue if you let it run flat at least once a week to recondition the battery.theres not much difference between this and my old Hero or my girlfriends desire when it comes to battery, dont forget it is a big phone with only a 1230mAh battery,a htc wilfire has 1300mAh,even in winmo battery is not great,it just depends how you use it and what your going to use it for,if you keep the clock speed at normal and reboot a few times it should stable out after a few days,I use android everyday now, never really used Winmo only as a backup wich is rarely, yeah you have to expect a thew lags here and there but having used it and compared with my girlfriends desire its on Par with that at the mo
At this time, Android on HD2 is not 100% stable and the big problem still battery drain. If price is not your matter, you should buy DHD with 8 mpx camera, support 720p movie, 1.5gb rom, 768 MB RAM, 16M color.
and of course, if you think about a cheap phone with powerful performance, HD2 is the best choice
The only concern I have with my HD2 running Android is the battery consumption. The battery only last almost a day. Other than that, I use strictly Android and have been doing so for months. I have been running without a reboot for over 11 days just to see how long I can go without a reboot. I normally reboot at least once a week just to clean up my phone. Android is the only way to go for me. Have tried all OS except BlackBerry. Android in MHO is the best. Happy Holidays!
My first concern when purchasing a phone was the price to performance ration. How much bang for the buck are you actually getting? In my case, I got my HD2 for free (not refurb), so I would have to say it was well worth all the lil tweaks and bugs here and there to run Android. I would have gotten it even if android was stock on it. I've had WinMo for way to long. Happy Holidays!
Ps, yes the battery drain is an issue, but it is true on how you use it and for what. If your like me, your on your phone a lotttttt, and 10-12 hours is a good length. Plus I'm not far from a charger most of the time.
Tnx all for your opinions. Though I read a lot of different experiences and feedbacks and I really can not understand if the HD2 can be a good replacement for a native android device.
I might add this: as I'm pretty new to android, the market should be my playground. I'm also trying to learn some Java coding on Ubuntu environment (keeping my Silverlight SDK in the Win7 partition for the LG O7). Would the [email protected] be an hand brake? Should I get a Nexus/Milestone instead to test my experiments and the apps to avoid software issues?
We bought a HD2 for our Son as a joint Christmas & birthday present with the sole intention of installing Android.
I left it as late as possible and then installed MDJ's Desire HD 4.6 after reading the many positive posts.
He has been playing Dungeon Defenders on it today.
Phone plus 16 gig class 6 microSD card came in at £250.
Lots of bangs for your bucks.

Quite honestly, being a developer myself, i was worried about this as well. However, i successfully developed a 3D app using opengl java wrapper , capable of loading .OBJ files and using the compass/accelerometer as well as bluetooth. It runs quite well in my HD2 (running MDJ's Desire HD 4.6 build). Deployment is easy and you won't encounter any issue. So yeah, i developed for WinMo and Android using the same device. Hope i'll be able to say the samething when it comes to WP7...
I know there are reviews etc. online, but they aren't by hd2 owners
So I would be interested in knowing the thoughts of fellow hd2 owners who have been rolling with Android.
How does WP7 compare ? Are you ready to switch your daily OS to it ?
I have had 2 iPhone and HTC legend and the hd2 is mental. The huge community and ROM dev is awesome.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
as sooon as i realized i could install wp7 i tried it.
smootest OS i ever tried, at the moment, although, i prefer Android (I have both)
we'll see..
I was using Android from day 1 he was ported on to HD2 ( best phone in the world , no doubt ).
As soon as i read about porting WP7 i knew i will have to install it .. And i did.. And i like it ..
Like devilman said, smoothest OS ive ever put my hands on.. Some things are missing.. Some things are diffrent.. It just takes time for me ( or any one ) to get used to this type of OS.. Im keeping it definitely.
Laynee
Cool, thanks for the replies.
Gaming looks great, and I am a fan of the tiled UI. Also Zune looks good.
I'll give it a go.
I have an iPhone 4 as my daily use phone and used my hd2 to tinker with all the android builds. After having used Windows Phone 7, I am seriously considering selling my iPhone and using this as my daily phone. For me, it really is that good.
I didn't think I would like wp7 that much considering how locked down it is and it's not very customizable... but after a couple days playing with it, it has really grown on me. Luckily I have the HD2 so I can have wp7 and android, because I'm pretty torn between the 2 as being my main os. I'm keeping both on my HD2 for sure... and hopefully cotulla will release the sd bootable version of wm6.5 for the few apps that I like to use like fpsece and gps apps. WP7 on nand and wm6.5 and android on sd will be perfect for me.
After starting with iPhone and moving to Android, I don't like the iPhone like locked down nature of the OS. I do love WP7's graphical interface, marketplace and music player much better than iPhone or Android. I also like the Zune/Xbox Live connectivity.
Android has a poor music player and a desktop like interface compared to WP7, although I do like the widgets. Also it suffers from fragmentation and inability of many owners to officially upgrade their OSes. However Android is also much more open and has many more apps. Iphone has a good music player but their layout gets boring after a while even with the jailbreak. One positive with the iPhone is that they have the most apps and most app compatibility between their phones (4, 3GS, iPod Touch, etc.)
Hopefully now that we have the ability to change the registry and navigate through the folders, Microsoft will not lock down their phones again when they make their updates. WP7 has the potential to be the best of the three if they play their cards right.
I wrote a little review, kepple.tumblr.com
Ive had wp7 since they released it, in fact, it made me replace my hd2 with a newer one because the old one had a couple knicks..couldnt have a smooth os and a phone with scratches love that windows finally did to the zune what apple did with ipod

WP7 is indeed the smoothest OS I've seen on my phone. I used WP7 for around 1 day then went back to Android, because of:
- Browser is still slower then Android
- No Flash
- No full facebook integration(chat?, direct link to pictures? messaging?)
- No Spotify
- No Whatsapp
- Freaking high app prices
For the rest I really liked it
I'm using daily on my HD2, i love it.
UI is quite different to others I have used, I really like the live tiles, the screen is very responsive compared to Android, the email client is SUPERB, very very business friendly, only downside for me so far, is the lack of customisation options compared to Android and the market could do with a few more free apps. I am dual booting WP7 and Android, so I switch to Android for the apps that I use that are missing from WP7 namely Copilot and Audiogalaxy.
At this point in time, only a very sad person would protest against the HD2 and WP7. Really amazing OS on a really amazing phone. WP7 for a whole week now. The feeling is undeniable !!
Android has lot of latency issues and its really slow compared to iphone os. you can see in your own eyes the first generation iphone has 412mhz and has very little touchscreen, audio and sensor latencies compared to our 1ghz android superphone's huge latencies.
Here is a comparison:
take an iphone(even 1st gen) and a fastest android phone you know side by side
scroll your finger through the app menu or contacts.
the iphone will scroll exactly at your finger position with no latency.
the android phone will scroll with a slight lag.
You can never see a good music app in android because of high audio latency
see Android sdk Issues for more info.
The real problem is the android os which is not really optimized. Lets hope for Icecream Sandwich for good speed.
I am not a iphone fanboy.I really like the android's customizability due to lot of roms. I just want to tell you there are major problems in android.
Sorry for my bad english.

Well if really sucks then move one and dont use it.
my opinion is that it works great - considering that hd2 is a winM ... but of course thanks to great developers we have .

I was near to throw my phone away, experimenting with Android on the HD2. Until i found [11 JUN][SD/MAGDLR] MccMBoxmaX GS V6.0 [Desire S] Gingerbread 2.3.3 [Sense 2.1+3.0] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038694. With this build, there are no lags, no stuttering and the whole HD2 is running smooth and very quick. Try it an you will have much fun with your HD2. BTW, i am running it from SD-Card.
Why come onto this forum to bash Android? Then you compare it to the iPhone? Comedic.

Anyone who REALLY knows about smartphones will tell you in no uncertain terms that Android is far superior to the iPhone.

so you are comparing a hacked os for the hd2 to a fully optomised apple ios build specifically for that device, yeah good one, its nearly as bad as the user koolxxx comparing a stock rom of windows with a custom rom of android and expecting the results to be the same or better in android
I am using a Miui rom and my HD2 is faster and has more possibilities then my colleques at my work. My job: Telecom Expert at a dutch Telecom Company called TRTC Vriezenveen. I can do things a normal Iphone 4 can't do. In my home, the only things i can't do with it are : controlling my washingmachine (no bluetooth in it) and vacuum cleaning (also no bluetooth or wifi in my vacuum cleaner) i have a self made
Vortexbox for .Flac music and i use Twonky Media server and player for movies on my plasma tv. I can control the Vortexbox completely with my HD2. Also XBMC and Twonky i can control completely. in my car i play music from my hd2 via ad2p. .flac quality
@ OP
I'm sorry to say that you are either mistaken, misinformed, using bad roms or smoking some serious crack if you think that Android has bad latency issues.
I agree some roms like DHD ones before you let them settle lag a bit but I haven't experienced any sort of latency at least nothing that stands out anyway.
ok you like the iphone well done sheep,
now on to my point
WHY have you come to the HD2 section which is a Windows Mobile to bash an operating system that was hacked and made to run on a phone that runs a completely different OS????
you my friend FAIL

how is the battery life dude ? via SD ??
Might be some lag between the two however I have never really used an iphone for long before so I wouldn't know. However it is unfair for you to say that the lag is so bad or much worse in comparison to the iphone. Why? Because android is already so smooth, minus sense. Plus, can a iphone play a 720p Youtube video?

Rolleyes x 2
Well my pc runs Windows 98 quicker than it runs Windows 7.
Doesn't mean that I want to use windows 98 just because it's faster... it's outdated and has a c**p UI.... Just like the iPhone!
Speed isn't everything and I know there are HD2 Android roms out there which are faultless... must be down to an iPhone user not knowing how to install a ROM!
History of an iPhone user:
Day 1: Oh, Shiny toy...
Day 2: Shiny toy play music...
Day 3: Awww, me gotta pay for stuff...
Day 4: Me jailbroke it, me a God...
Day 5: Ummm what now?!?!?!
Day 6: Let's bash other phones since I have just wasted my money on this plastic piece of turd!
Day 7: Take iPhone back on the pretence that it has a fault and get a decent phone!
See, it's easy to bash other phones but as was previosly mentioned, Android WAS NEVER designed to run on the HD2 and it's still a WIP.
I find the OP incredibly anally retentive for ignoring the hard work which has gone into development for this device. I have no latency issues which causes me to log onto a forum and open a new thread just to complain about it - get a life!
My advice to the OP: Stick to a couple of tin cans with string and be happy with what you have!
RANT OVER!
You need to sync the iphone with itunes to play movies or music, that is piece of s#*t phone right off the bat.
I dont own an iphone now and I am not a apple fanboy. I am not talking specifically about hd2. Its really a nice phone.. and I dont blame anyone for this. I am using the latest typhoon cyanogenmod 7 which is too great, I think hd2 is the smoothest android phone i have ever seen due to our chefs...
Basically I was developing an android app similar to smule's ocarina app in iphone. but couldnt make realtime recording and playback of sounds.. It lags about 250ms.. Even i tested in samsung galaxy s. Every android phone lags and has high latency.I defnitely know its not the phone's fault. Its a known issue in android software development..
I didnt yet develop for wp7. i think it wont lag as it is very smooth compared to android.
Even compare it with wp7 and any good nand rom you know.scroll through the screen.. the same phone(hd2) performs more smoothly in wp7.
Now dont say me "I am a wp7 fanboy".
Really sorry for my bad english grammar!

As amazing as it sounds to have the option to control your washing machine from your phone uh what's the point lol or your vacuum cleaner at that matter?

hahah, i've built a remote controlled robot that can be maneuvered from the phone itself via VNC and by using various internal cameras, sensors and lasers can be deployed to navigate itself to the kitchen and ask whomever is there for a beer + deliver it back to me in the living room. Operating this thing requires 2 hd2's (one for navigation commands, the other for viewing camera and sensors info) and it's kind of playing an intensive pc game with lots of control keys.
Man... that's useless! controlling the washing machine via bluetooth can be useful.

Dude, That is so getting added to my signature, At least for while anyway!
[edit] damn sig character limit
I see his point but I do not think he formulated it correctly.
When you use Apple iPad or iPhone transitional effects are "silky smooth" BUT that does not mean Android sucks!!! I really prefer smoothness over capability but in my case with HD2 and MDJs NAND Ginger ROM I did not have to give up either or! It works smooth enough for my taste and capability to run it on WinMo native device is even more AWESOME!!!
I do not think there will ever be perfect phone that has everything we want for continuous year in the future but that's life. Find me a car that's perfect in every aspect... Maybe Apple should make them too to run "smooth" ...
Regardless, point is if you really cannot leave with Android, why don't you try Apple products (iPad and iPhone)? See it for yourself and decide. My decision as 75% of the world is that Android owns apple in every way possible - and it will for long years ahead
So long Appleish Smoothish fans
