MMS - HTC Aria General

So i have had the HTC Aria for almost a month, and still the MMS issue has not been resolved i can send just find to verizon phones, but i cannot receive anybody know a fix for this, would rooting my phone help at all? or maybe some sort of app that does a force receive or some sort. i never had issues getting pictures on my BB Pearl.

i have the same problem, but found a way to work around it. What the sender needs to do is send to like an email attachment.
AT&T (formerly Cingular)
[10-digit phone number]@txt.att.net
[10-digit phone number]@mms.att.net (MMS)
[10-digit phone number]@cingularme.com
Example: [email protected]
Let me know if it works

Is there a way to have all incoming txt convert over so if i have non tech savy people sending it i dont have to explain that to them (if it works)

Ok.. either/all:
Call verizon and enable picture messaging on your account.
Send a picture message to yourself.
hard reset.
return phone

Picture messaging is enabled and im on ATT, its the verizon customers that send me messages i cant receive since upgrading to the HTC Aria. im thinking of just switching to verizon, all verizon customers never have issues it seems like.

I just asked one of my friends on verizon to send me a picture and it appears I have the same problem. I'm hoping there's a way around this.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App

I think if people are having the same issue, they should be calling AT&T and complaining about it, so that AT&T is forced to reconize this as a common issue, because the ATT representative told me "THERE HAVE BEEN NO OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THIS DEVICE YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE"

man.... something needs to be done lol i even stayed on tech for an hour about this

i not shocked that they would tell me that mainly due to that THEY DONT EVEN KNOW WHATS WRONG, mmmmm i upgrade to a newer phone, and suddenly i cant get picture messaging......lucky i got a great representative the 2nd time around who's actually pushed it up to to as many levals as she is able to and has told me she will figure it out and that she's even read up on similar issues trying to resolve it. at least there are a few good Representatives out there who do there job as expected.

Just posting to confirm this. I did a test with my friends and had them all send me MMS. Two from Verizon, two from T-Mobile, and one from Sprint. I never received the messages from the Verizon phones. I even had them send a regular SMS afterwards and those were received with no problems. If it were a settings issue or user error it would not be isolated to the Verizon phones. As someone else has said, if you're having this issue contact support with AT&T and hopefully with enough people it won't be some throw-away issue for them.

i agree with you, as well as AT&T first told me that it was the Verizon Customer, i told them the same phones that have sent me images in the past i could get on my BB Pearl, and that they were still able to receive my images, its incoming, i even told the guy if there's some territory mob war going on between verizon and AT&T to just let me know so i can consider the issue resolved, he assured me there wasnt, i personally think its a error converting the images over on the GSM network, w/e the issue is, the Droid X is looking very nice w/ the 8MP Camera

im in savannah ga. using the same sim card for last several phones... on liberated b005.
I can get picture messaging from verizon customers that are my friends. And I was getting them BEFORE I rooted, too!
Its not the phone its USER ERROR.. lol jk idk whats wrong with you guys' phones

it might also have something to do with more populated area's i live in souther cali, so maybe it has to do with populated cities. or something to specific areas. and i doubt its user error seems as i was getting pictures fine before upgrading to HTC Aria, at first ive changed the sim card, as well as the phoen and still issue, even the lady at the kiosk had verizon and sent me a picture and i never got it.and she was verizon.

i spoke with an att tech support rep today and she confirmed to me that there was a known issue with mms between some carriers for some users. She tried to change some routing number within my account settings and told me to power cycle my phone in the morning and try to test it again to see if i can recieve a mms from verizon and if not to call tech support back.

I haven't had any problems whatsoever, I've received countless pictures from my friend whose on Verizon and they come through promptly.

I cannot send or receive from verizon and I can only receive from sprint liberated running 003 . I get an error message saying unsupported data
Sent from my HTC Liberty using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk

so i had a friend on a verizon person send me a message today, and at least on the phone its not sending them a message saying i got it, however the ATT rep on wed. told me that they are seeing traffic coming in that is MMS.

So today I was able to receive a Image from Verizon phone!!!! Have the sender reply to a txt from you and attach the image that way. Idk why it makes a difference but if they select the image and then choose you to receive it. So have then reply ajd add the image that way!!!! Hope this works for everyone!!!!!

bump am i the only one bump
I am having the problem of not getting mms from ATT. I was on the phone with T-mobile for about 3 hrs and after switching my sim card out with my wife, they said that it's a problem with the phone be cause I could receive mms on her phone and her card couldn't receive them on my phone. I was all ready to receive a new phone when they called me back to say that it is a known issue that has been going on since january.
My question for you is did you root your phone to a JF release?
i'm beginning to suspect that is the problem.
user- xjreyes is also having the same probelm
When i first got mine I called t-mo and let them know I was having trouble . I could not recieve or send mms to people on att but I could to verizon and other t-mo members.
She said it had something to do with not adding any info in the subject line .
I am running cyan 3.4.3 and I havent had any problems since rooting .
My g/f works for Tmo and said that they've been having various issues w/ txt messaging.
didn't know that AT&T had MMS capabilities
Doubt its your phone... Im having the same issue. The MMS will either A. not get to its recipient or B. get there 3 days later at like 2 am. I've had this issue with 3 blackberrys and this G1. Its gotta be the service.

Speed not the only Hero problem (Orange UK)

FYI:
An Orange repairs customer service agent I spoke to today confirmed to me they are aware that the Hero has issues whereby:
Some SMS texts are not received by the device
The phone cannot make or receive calls at times even when the network is showing full bar coverage, including on a HSPA connection, requiring the device to be restarted to work again.
He confirmed that Orange were aware that the software was rushed to market, and that there is no fix at this time.
He is replacing my handset "for the hell of it".
Upon raising the issue of termination of contract, he claims that Orange is in no way responsible for the handset or software, and that I should speak to HTC for a resolution.
I disagree with this if they were aware of these issues and the handset was rushed to market, as they surly have a responsibility to fully test the device on their network beforehand? Anyway, I will be in touch with Ofcom for advise.
Have you had a similar issue and response from Orange?
Anyone have any advise with regards to Ofcom?
When I ordered the handset - via telephone sales - I was told it was a 12 month contact, and have now been told I've been signed-up for an 18 month contract - so I've got a couple of bones to pick with Orange and are so far unimpressed by the network.

LMAO!
There are no known issues with the HTC Hero, This would not be an exclusive issue to "orange devices" it would be an issue with all devices, HTC supply the handsets to our networks with the "Branded roms" pre flashed.
When taking the contract you would either...
Sign an agreement in store and be given a copy stating your contract term.
or
If signing up via Telesales, verbally agree contract and recieve confirmation of the contractual term with the handset (usually on the delivery note).
The cost of the handset to you and the price of the package would be relevant to the contract term, the 12 month plans certainly dont appeal to me!
Try again..

There are known issues with the Hero, I just listed two of them, which were confirmed today when I spoke to Orange. I did not say they were exclusive to Orange.
These issues have been raised in various threads.
This, however, is the first time (that I know of) it has been confirmed by a network, in this case Orange UK.
P.S...
Speak to "straight talking" Alex on extension 60716
Another issue to add to your list is HTC-mail's inability to display signed messages. Sysadmins and others who frequently receive important signed messages about software updates and other issues will be unable to read those without installing a 3rd-party email application (for example K-9 mail). HTC-mail only displays the message "this message is still on the server" in the body pane, although the actual body of a signed message is in plain text.
This problem is acknowledged by HTC, and their support reps don't know if it ever will be solved. It is not fixed in MoDaCo's custom rom v. 2.2, nor in the recent Hero update from HTC (same build). European support claim to have escalated to HQ though.

I wouldnt personally hang on those words (this is one CSR's Opinion) its more of a snagging list.
The call issue is a result of lag usually caused by too many apps running in the background. (should be sorted with the new update)
Never heard of the SMS issue but I will have a word with my friend in tech and see if there has been anything raised
... if all roms and all HTC handsets were perfect XDA wouldnt get half the traffic it does.. and as many have stated "It is the least buggy HTC device I have ever had"

Errm, I have to disagree with you on that...
My Hero has the issue with calls. I've even tried calling my phone sometimes and it goes straight to voicemail. I've then woke the phone up and it has full signal and then tried ringing it again and its fine.
Mine is a Black T-Mobile G2 Touch on o2.
My brother has the same problem, not all the time, but it does happen, he has a white unlocked on T-Mobile.
Addressed the issue with HTC, they are "investigating".
There is already a thread about SMS not being received, some people are having this issue, luckily I am not.
Also there is another issue with MMS, sometimes the Hero doesn't notice the MMS profile so it doesn't disconnect your Mobile internet and download the MMS message, it sits in your inbox (with no notification) with a download option. Only way to get it is by disconnecting mobile internet and reconnecting it. This is the same for sending an MMS.
Few quirks out there, but I'm sure they will be addressed. The telephone calls one seems more like a radio issue to me.
Bizzare, I must say I have not experienced the issues my self, although I have been running on the updated radio for the past 2 weeks, maybe that could be your soloution ??
SMS
I can confirm the sms issue as I and many others have experienced this. See this thread for info:
http://androidforums.com/htc-hero/8155-do-not-receive-100-my-texts-htc-hero.html
I had the call issue, but it seems to have gone once I flashed MoDaCo's rom and the latest radio.

Unfortunately I still have it. Although its so random, I can't find any pattern to why its happening, sometimes its fine, then sometimes people will be "I've been trying to call you for the last 20 minutes".
I'm only the latest radio, but I'll keep updating everything. I have voicemail, the buggers can leave me a message!

Cannot Receive MMS from Verizon after upgrading to HTC Aria

I got the HTC Aria about a week after it was released i have been very happy with it after upgrading from the BB Pearl i love this phone except for i cannot recieve MMS from Verizon Customers i have called AT&T about this its now in Tier 3 trouble shooting on the issue, im curious if anyone else has a fix i can do on my phone for this issue, cause AT&T is taking forever to fix this, they call me back every 3-5 days since i got the phone.
I am having the exact same problem, except I had just begun using MMS. My MMS goes through to the verizon customer, but does not work the other way. The tech guy i had talked to had done every reset, reboot, restart and said if none of those had worked, the verizon customer would have to go check with their end of the services. The at&t operator even offered to do a three way calling to try and figure this out which is a nice thing to do. Hopefully someone figures this out...
anybody else had luck resolving this issue?

Unable to recieve sms picture

I am just wondering on your opinion of what could be the cause of not getting an SMS picture someone sent me. In my last phones I would get a bunch of garbled text so at least I know it attempted to receive it.
I am able to send out SMS pictures and the same person is able to receive them.
suggestions?
Is your friend with a different network provider?
I have a similar issue, that a friend of mine with a different provider cant send me pic messages. They send, but i never get them.
I am with bell and they are with telus
hah, what a coincidence. exactly the same situation here.
i was able to receive pic messages from this same person with my 2 previous bell phones, but the sgs is the first one on the 'new' network, with the sim card and all.
tried it with 2 other people, one (on rogers, with an iphone 3g) couldn't send me a pic, another (also on rogers, but with a blackberry) was able to send me a pic.
telus = rogers
thats gotta be the difference. still unsure as to how to fix the situation though.....its extremely frustrating.
same situation... called tech support, they arent any help. I can send pics to my friend on Tmobile USA from Bell, but I dont get their pics on my vibrant . They have a vibrant as well so it should be working. Gotta be the networks fault.
yeah, i can get pics from a friend on koodo. that person is acting like a pic forwarder now hahaha....and i can send pics to the telus friend too.
anyone found any other info on the web about this? it cant be all that uncommon....?
I can't help, but I can add that I too have had problems receiving SMS messages from someone on a different network. In my case it's from a Fido iPhone user, while I too am with Bell Canada. The Bell rep I spoke to was able to send me a lovely picture of his keyboard without any problems.
Isn't fido part of rogers too? Maybe its a general rogers >> bell thing....
Is this just with the galaxy? Or have you had it work (gotten pictures from that particular contact) with previous phones?
What i cant figure out is that if the problem is with the network itself, shouldn't there be relatively easily-found reports of it elsewhere? I can find no such reports.....
Surfed the internet, and tried a whole bunch of different settings again, and still no dice. Still works from Koodo, but nothing from any rogers variant.
Highly ticked. Probably give bell a call monday, see what they say.
I was able to receive pictures on my old phone (Moto Razr2) although the last time was quite a while back (over a year). Perhaps Rogers changed something in the interim that broke it. Unfortunately I haven't anyone to further test this with.

[Q] Truncated SMS. Bell Mobility or Atrix?

I was hoping someone can help me here. I have a problem with my received sms messages being truncated. I phoned Bell and asked them, and they said its the Atrix. However I sent myself a sms, and it was not truncated. I just wanted to know if its Bell or the Atrix; and how I fix it.
Thanks!

Truncated?
I thought that was a mathematical term not...
What exactly happens again?
It's a Bell issue. I used to be with Bell on a Samsung Galaxy S and experienced the same thing. Same issue on Telus too

The messages are coming in broken up. If its over 160 characters it comes in 1/2 and 2/2 and so on. Now today, they are not even coming in order. I just got some in this order, part 4,3,2,1 and then 5.
I spent 10 minutes on the phone with Motorola Canada, and they confirmed that the phone should not be doing this at all, and its carrier related.
I also spent 30 minutes on the phone with Bell for the second time today, and they tried to blame all the other carriers, saying its the way they break up the messages to send. I had 2 "work" phones that were both with bell, and neither one did this, so I really don't know what its related to. They told me to call back in a week if it does not fix itself.
Plh36 - Did you ever phone for support? Did they ever give you a reason why it does this? I would have stuck with Rogers and just bought the phone from Bell had I known that they can't handle their sms messages properly

I'm on Bell (with an HTC Desire Z, not sure why I'm on this forum) and I get this problem sometimes. I figured it was due to the sending party. Dumbphones and CDMA phones tend to split up messages. Try getting someone also on a GSM network and a smartphone to try and send you a message. I tested it right now with a friend who has an iPhone 3GS on Fido, and I received a non-split message.
This message splitting is normal for Bell - I had this happening with my HTC Touch and Samsung Galaxy S.
Some SMS programs allow you to change how the message is or isn't broken up. Use GO SMS. I'm on Rogers but my friends use GO SMS or other messaging apps and we never have this problem. But I know what you're talking about. It's very annoying.

This. Its because CDMA limit sms to 160 characters so the companies that still employ CDMA as part of their network will limit them. There is nothing you can do, its the network, not the phone.

Hi, this is a problem with your atrix, very many people in Brazil have the same problem, see:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068693&highlight=Brazilian
I recommend you using GO SMS Pro as a replacement of your stock sms, and this would solve ur problem.
P.S. i'm using atrix on koodo
Fuaaaarkkkkk I'm on Bell and this happens to me now too. It's a nuisance!! Happens when people from Rogers send long text messages.
Maybe I'll phone and complain, score something good like a discount or retention rate plan lol
