Just discovered what seems to be a bug/incompatibility with calendar invites that are sent from Outlook 2010 do not display the time and date information for a meeting on my Vibrant. However, if a meeting is sent using Outlook 2003 (I haven’t tested 2007), the full meeting information is displayed properly.
Is this Android 2.1 incompatibility or just with Samsung Vibrant implementation?
Much appreciate any input
Cheers…
Just an FYI, I'm having this issue (along with another co-worker) and we both have HTC Evo's.
We are running 2.2 (froyo) and have the same exact issue. Invites from 2003 or 2007 work fine, but invites sent from Outlook 2010 have a blank body (no information regarding the date or time of the meeting).
We are also running Office 2010. Hope this info helps.
I have a ticket opened to android at http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15666

Hello:
I am looking for any opinions/experience with software to sync Lotus Notes with a JASJAR.
Any experience with software such as Easy Sync, Intellisync or others and their compatibility with WM5?
Thanks in advance.
Fernando
Try Cadenza mNotes from CommonTime (www.commontime.com).
I have been using it successfully with my XDAIIi. I don't have a Universal so cannot confirm that it will work but according to parts of their web site, the latest version supports WM5.
mNotes is a superstable notes sync-app, but so far doesn't work with WM5. It even wrecks the Database if you try. ... :-(
Thanks for the feedback jofeuerstein - that's a real shame. At least it makes my mind up not to get a Universal yet, because mNotes is a critical application for me.
Which version of mNotes did you try by the way? I found this article on the web which indicates version 4 should work with WM5: http://lotusadvisor.com/doc/16995
However the user guide for V4 at http://www.commontime.com/Downloads/Docs/mNotes PPC User Guide.pdf mentions nothing about supporting WM5.
Just found this other thread which mentions a beta for mNotes that supports WM5: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=28913
What a disaster. The Article in "Lotus Advizor" is completeley wrong. I tried to get mNotes to work with the Universal ... no chance. I put in a support request to Commontime. No answer yet. Keep you posted.
Commontime + WM5
At the moment, Commontime mNotes doesn't work with WM5, but it will shortly.
About 2 weeks, I've been told (from a very reliable source)
The reason it won't work is because of the POOM changes in WM5. Commontime have had to re-write their client engine because of it apparently.
That's crazy.
Here's a second article that says mNotes 4.0 supports WM5.
http://www.mobile2day.de/news/news_details.html?nd_ref=4586
I can wait two weeks, no problem.
What makes me nuts is that I waste hours to get this thing to work because of false reports.
Pretty imperfect, this mobile computing business ....
Beta release this week
I spoke to a guy at commontime last week and they are to mail me a beta this wednesday 5 oct. It will be a further couple of weeks for the final release version.
hope that helps (and clearly I will come back to this group if anything materialises on wed - the guy sounded reliable and knowledgable so you never know)
J
I send in a request for clarification and possibly a beta version on Saturday. Here's the response from them today:
--------------
Hi .... ,
Thanks for the email. The current mNotes version does not support the
new Windows Mobile 2005 devices, but a compatible mNotes release is
scheduled to be out within the month of October. I have added you to the
list of customers to be notified once this release becomes available.
We are hopping to have the provisional release version in QA testing by the
end of this week, and progress quickly from there on.

Look's like we're out of luck for now, but will get some help soon. I'm curious who will be faster: Commontime or Extended Systems ;-)
Mail from Today:
Dear Customer
Thank you for showing interest in mNotes for the new PPC devices running on
the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system.
Unfortunately we have had to slightly delay the beta release due mainly to
the instability of the device we are testing on at the moment (JasJar). We
have come across some device issues which affect the mNotes performance and
thus want to wait until we get a device we can have more reliable test
results on. Our original target of releasing the beta within this month is
still valid, and we are doing our very best to release it as soon as
possible.
We are in the process of acquiring other WM 5.0 devices and we will keep
you posted on the progress - again, thank you for your patience and
cooperation.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Hi,
Any news on the patch/update for mNotes? I read there seems to be a beta version. Does anyone know where I can get it?
My jasjar is useless without syncing with Lotus Notes....
Hi guys:
I found a work around to this that is satisfactory. There is a MS Outlook plug-in that allows you to receive/send your Lotus Notes email directly into/from Outlook. Then you can sync your email as you always do with Outlook.
You can download the free plug-in from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...59-5f17-4e52-8980-c4f0dfa92d65&DisplayLang=en
Follow the instructions and it works beautifully.
I hope this helps,
Fernando
I have tried the Outlook-Connector with a Notes-Mail/Contacts file of about 1 GB. The connector has no way to limit the amount of data copied into Outlook, so it copied 5000 calendar entries, todos and a all e-Mail data. Then about three thousand reminders popped up on my desktop (and later on my mobile). After closing them all, they popped up again, and again. Many serial appointments vanished too. Couldn't get it to stop. Decided to uninstall afterwards. Lost many hours ... not funny

I have been using this method since the WM5.0 for BA was released. I would recommend opening outlook every once in a while to make sure that everything connects and is synced between Lotus-Outlook-AS-PDA..... man my company needs to hurry up and get the new version of Extended Systems OneBridge
Any News??
Any News for mNotes and WM 5?

No, nothing, but extended systems is coming out with their sync sw on monday, they say on their webste.
Commontime says Wednesday 2 November
I just spoke with Commontime support and was told they are 99% certain that a WM5 compatible version will be released by 2nd November. Instead of making a beta available immediately, they will do a few more days testing and release a final.
It's November 2nd...
... did the 1% prevail? Anxiously awaiting the mNotes upgrade for WM5... any news?
Now it's the 3rd! WTF! I am regretting getting this jasjar becauase of commontime. If I knew mnotes didn't work I would have waited and got an XDA Exec.
Hi,
I've just installed an Exchange 2010 in our internal environment and can not set up ActiveSync from a HTC Hero.
My Hero is updated with the latest version from HTC.
It works if I install a Third-party app for example RoadSync or touchviz and the testexchangeconnectivity site goes through without any warnings. We have a real SSL-certificate no self-signed.
I asked a question on HTC.com and got the following response:
"Thank you for Contacting HTC.
The Issues May occour because "Exchange 2010 Is Not officially compatible with our products yet, so if you wish to sync to an exchange server successfully I Will Have to Recommend That You use an EARLIER version of Exchange."
I Asked then if it applies to all Androidphones from HTC and then received this reply:
"Unfortunately yes, this involves all of our products though Windows Mobile devices had more success with Exchange 2010 Than Android."
I Can not find a solution to this. I have tested native Android Mail.apk and it works to sync but not the calendar, which means that it still sucks.
I have now tested to root my phone anf installed a different ROM:
"[ROM] FROYO_2.2_elelinux_v2.1 [ROM] Updated 2010-10-07"
But it did not work either. Does anyone know if there is any good Froyo ROM with HTC mailapp for HERO?
This issue is because the HTC mailapp do not follow the standard for ActiveSync devices against Exchange 2010 SP1.
Do someone have a solution/workaround for this?
Some problem here. Tried 6 or 7 different ROMs and Android versions without succes.
Sorry I forgot to update this thread that I solved it on my server/phones! Perhaps not the most elegant solution but it works as a workaround until HTC fixed the mailclient, or our old phones dies..
What you must do is to delete the Default ActiveSyncMailboxPolicy on the server.
Run this on the server: Remove-ActiveSyncMailboxPolicy -id Default
Then i think you can create a new ActiveSyncMailboxPolicy and assign those users who have phones that support Exchange 2010. I have not because i only have HTCs now.

I need users who are using exchange servers to please do the following for me:
Send yourself a test e-mail from a non exchange account like hotmail, ymail, yahoo, gmail, etc. Or heck, PM me and I'll mail you.
Reply to that e-mail from your Xoom
Note whether or not the reply actually sends or sits in your outbox
Respond here with the following data:
Xoom Model: Wifi / 3G
Android OS should be: 3.1
Exchange Server Version: 2003/2007/2010
Did your reply send: Yes / No
I am using:
Xoom: 3G
Android: 3.1
Exchange: 2003 (SP2)
My reply: Sits in outbox
- New emails work fine.
- Replies sit in outbox.
Worked fine for me.
Sent from Gmail
Xoom 3g powered by Verizon
Android 3.1
90% sure we are on exchange server 2007
My reply was sent.
Fine here - We run a Zimbra server.

Thanks, I guess I should look up what a Zimbra server is but I assume that you set it up the same way in the Xoom as an Exchange server account?
Xoom: wifi
Android: 3.1
Exchange: 2007
My reply: sends everytime (assuming connected to wifi )
also, I should ask, have you tried deleting and reconfiguring the mail account?

No I have not, but I will do that right now.
Zimbra is an Open Source alternative to Exchange. Has 90% of all the stuff Exchange does and takes up all of $300.00 bucks a year of our budget. Which I could not pay if I wanted too, but I like it too much not not support development of it. FOSS FTW!
I deleted and reconfigured the account, careful to include DOMAIN/username and use the fully qualified domain name that my SSL certificate is named after and the results were the same:
I can generate new e-mail, which is sent fine.
I cannot respond to e-mail, it sits in the outbox.
Maddening.
Can anyone on Exchange 2003 test this?
I had the same issue last week. I haven't done any further testing, but I do think we have an exchange 2003 server.
Xoom Model: Wifi
Android OS should be: 3.1
Exchange Server Version: 2010
Did your reply send: Yes
Worked fine for me.
I am on:
XOOM (rooted, Tiamat 1.4.2, HC 3.1)
Microsoft Exchange 2003
My reply emails hang in the outbox. They don't send.
i use 2003 SP2. stock unrooted xoom wifi.
all works well.
however, last week i had a 3G launch day (feb 24) xoom and last week *I* had an issue where the emails sat in the outbox. i then, later that day it happened, received a security update OTA from the server. this may have been what the intermittent issue was.
now let me say the emails started flowing thru before i got this update. i would guess my downtime was a couple hours. i did not delete my account. it just "corrected" itself.
ill also add that i have an evo on the same server and it did not stop sending emails at all. so this may be a honey OS thing...

I got fed up of the stock email client and moved to touchdown. The problem i was having was sync weren't working properly, all of a sudden stopped syncing.

I have not tried touchdown but after reading the user reviews I think that the UI will be terrible, and UI is important to me.
So far now, I will make due with being unable to respond to some users until this sorts itself out.
I like the TD UI, it's made for tablets now too (I didn't know that until I bought my Xoom two weeks ago). I use it on my HTC Inc too, and have never had any issues. I think you can use TD as a trial version for 30 days (?) to test it out and see how you'll like it.
We run Exchange 2007, and I use my Xoom 3.1 rooted and Inc rooted with out issues.
Xoom Model: 3G
Android OS: 3.1
Exchange Server Version: 2003 SP2
Did your reply send: No - Hangs in out box, hitting send all now does nothing.
Other bugs noticed:
Text entry cursor seems out of wack, doesn't show up in the same place as the movable green pointer. This also seems the affect the text black selection brackets. Very language (laggy), many edits to this post to make it readable
Wifi oddities with releasing and renewing IPs between two bssids.
Web browser not displaying some dynamic page elements properly, example - there is no scroll bar on this text entry box...making this post even more interesting (I have XDA Premium, but I like to torture myself).
This is all on stock 3.1, non root, locked Xoom
Omg...I give up

I am willing to bet the problem is being caused by the changes made to activesync between ES2K3 and ES2K7. If I had to really guess it has to do with the 3.1's handling of ActiveSync connections and their dependence on policy based permissions inherited from ActiveSync. Unfortunately ActiveSync from ES2K3 did not support the use of ActiveSync policies, that feature was not added until ES2K7. That's why until the release of Exchange 2007 the only truly viable corporate messaging systems were based on BlackBerry servers.
I retired my 2K3 infrastructure 2 years ago, but I believe I still have the virtual machine builds from my test environment I can load up and test the theory.
Let me start by saying this is a great forum!! I've been a long time lurker here and have learned quite a bit.
I do alot of software development and always have a few phones in my possession so I find this a great central place to find whatever I need.
Saying all that, I have a few phones from the Android side (Atrix 4G, SGS II, Exhibit II 4G).
I typically have to configure at least 1 Exchange 2010 Account, plus 2 or 3 IMAP accounts on each phone. Right now I am carrying the SGS II.
With Firmware 2.3.3 Exchange 2010 synch's properly and all the emails are kept up-to-date. The read status, reply status and forward status all get synch'd correctly. IMAP however, does not synch the REPLY or FORWARD status so this is a great nuisance when you are holding your phone and trying to figure out which emails got responded to and which didnt.
I've since tried Firmware 2.3.4, 2.3.5, 2.3.6.
2.3.4 behaves the same way as 2.3.3.
2.3.5 and 2.3.6 FIX the IMAP issues and they now synch their REPLY and FORWARD status BUT, Exchange 2010 account always shows FORWARDED whenever you reply to an email.
Does anyone know how to get a working email system on ANY Android O/S so that you can synch Exchange 2010 and IMAP accounts properly??
I have in addition to the 3 Android phones, an iPhone 4S and a Samsung Focus and recently got rid of my Blackberry Torch. I've never had this much trouble getting email to work properly on a phone.
I would think Email would be the first application that gets updated and tested on the phone since most people live by email these days.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right forum to post my issue.
I have setup my work email (Lotus Notes 8.5.3) using the Exchange option. The setup is successful and I can see all the folders (including custom created) that are part of my email. The issue is that all the folders (including inbox) does not show any emails. Message appears No messages from the past month and changing option to download all emails shows "No messages"
I can send email out successfully but the send folder on Windows Mail is empty. Contacts and Calendar do not sync as well.
My email gateway page shows following message:
WindowsMail: Offline and these sync requests from the server are pending: mail:add/update, calendar:add/update
I have no issues syncing my HTC (Android). Is this something that can be resolved by changing some config on my Surface 3 or do I need to take this up with out Lotus Notes Mail admin or Is Lotus Notes 8.5.3 is not supported?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Wow, didn't know lotus notes was still around hehe, you may wanna consider a slightly less ancient email client. (personally i was quite pleasantly surprised by how decent 'Mail' is in Win8, maybe try that)
If you like to stick to LN (or IN as i guess its called these days, for IBM Notes) then know this; the latest stable release is 9.0.1 FP3 from January the 21st this year, so you should prolly try install that.

Thanks for the advise, unfortunately the company I work @ uses pre-historic fossilized technology (9.0.1 is 100+ years in future for us ). I am having issues with 'Mail' app in Windows 8, my bad did not specify in the post.
Thanks again.
