browser size 10mb!

I don't know what's going on, but my browser keeps getting larger (yesterday it was only 9mb). I've cleared caches, historyl etc. I tried moving caches to sd card (which works since it shows the files on my card) but nothing decreases it's size. Any idea what's up? Any programs I'm unaware of that builds up my cache?
have you gone in and cleared your downloads? press menu, more, downloads, menu, clear downloads. That might free up some room.
Sounds like the browser cache. When you go to websites it downloads the data and stores it ion the phone for faster browsing. Just go into settings->applications and click browser. Click clear data and you should be good. Alteratively if you rooted your phone you an run a script to copy caches to your sd card but thats a bit technical.
Thanks for the replies but I've tried both solutions and no dice.

HD2 system memory cache cleaner

Hi,
is there any program or utility that will clear all the HD2 cache items that typically fill up the system memory - things like Google Maps cache etc? I have seen some HD2 Sense icon cache cleaners but can't seem to see anything that will flush all cache and temp directories to retreive much needed system space.
Regards,
Matt

Hey
Memaid is a great app, this will do what you want + more, but it not cheap $25
http://www.dinarsoft.com/memmaid/ - worth it tho!
for something simpler & free take a look at cleartemp http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-cleartemp.html
hope this helps
Tip: may not apply to you, but also take a look in your "volatile" folder (My Device/Application Data/Volatile), this can sometimes fill up after installing apps, its safe to delete the contents of this folder.
I also use Clean RAM
http://www.htcaddicts.com/?id=110
It's free.
Thanks for your advice and taking the time to reply, I'll look into these and see which one suits me best.
a folder to clean that rarely ever gets a mention is
windows/opera9/profile/download
which is where things like mp3's end up if you choose 'open' instead of 'save'
Another great app for total maintenance is SKTools. Try the trial version first to see if you like it as it is not free. The free trial only ids 6 things, you clean them then rescan again and get 6 more. So, you can use that to see what you find and clean.

I use it weekly and it does a good job.
Excellent, SKTools does the job I need it to! Thanks for all your help!

[Q] Where's My Phone Memory Gone?

Like a lot of people, I would imagine, I have a constant battle to try and fit all of the apps that I want on my phone memory. There are a whole heap of apps already that I would like that I have had to delete already.
My phone memory was down to 2MB and I really want to add Skype to it now that has been launched. Knowing that I would never fit it on unless I deleted something, I decided to remove my greediest app, Documents to Go, which is also around 8.5MB - the same as Skype.
I deleted it, checked how much memory I had left, expecting there to now be 10.5MB, but found that it is still telling me that I only have 2MB left.
I have tried everything to try and find where the missing memory has gone - the app has definitely been removed from my phone.
Any ideas why I still don't have more than 2MB of memory after this?
Wipe cache.
Try to delete cache of all applications and then reboot the phone
I have gone through the caches of all of the apps that I can access and cleared them. This brings it up to 4MB, but it is still far short of the 8.5MB that I thought that I would have gained by deleting Documents to Go (which I never got around to using anyway).
I guess I really should wipe the thing and start again after downloading and deleting so many apps, but it will be a major pain to set everything up the way I like it.
Roll on Froyo when I can download apps onto the SD card, which should solve the problem once and for all.

Is your phone rooted? If yes, go to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik-cache.

No, it's not rooted. I looked at the process of rooting and it looks terrifying and complicated!
If it was rooted, then I know I could just install apps onto the SD card and then the problem would be solved immediately.
If Froyo doesn't get released for Legend soon though, I think I will have to try and root it though as this memory problem is really starting to drive me insane.

phone running out of space?? gmail taking a while to refresh?

my N1 is saying its running out of space. anyone runnin into a space issue too? what did u do? i dont think i have that many apps installed. i uninstalled the ones i didnt really need.
when i check SD Card/Phone storage settings, says my phone's internal storage available space is 19.07mb >.< is that low....
also, for gmail syncing, is it me or does it take like a while to sync...?
If you are running a custom rom try moving large apps like Flash to your SD card. Also clear your browser cache. Deleteing old sms's will help also.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
no custom rom. stock 2.2.1. moved what i can to SD. 32.75mb now =3
did you try removing browser cache?
removing browser cache was what increased it to 30 something mb =3 lol
is there any way to save text messages =3
Try this out for backing up SMS: code.google.com/p/android-sms/ (I can't post live links yet.)
SMS Backup & Restore from the Market
does it get saved on the sd or on the phone?
20mb is the limit for the low space warning.
removed some some unused apps again. now at avail space 48.70mb. is that good? what does everyone else have?
did the backup thing... went thru my 17k+ msgs since i got phone in august. xD
Everyone else mostly has custom ROMs with Apps2EXT, which equals pretty much unlimited space for apps.
???? apps2ext??
I hover around 25mb-30mb free space usually. I also have a bunch of games I could uninstall since I only every play maybe 3 of them.
Every time I got the low space warning it was from having way too many windows going in the browser.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
i close em tho =3

Limit Cache Partition?

My Galaxy s5 has been super laggy. I cleared the cache Partition and it runs great...until later tonight or tomorrow morning. Then if I clear the cache Partition again it runs great again. Is there a way to limit how much data the system cache Partition holds so my device will stop lagging? Thanks.
Find out which app is causing the problem and get rid, the cache is not causing the problem, something else is
That sounds right. Is there an app or chart that will show you which app is causing it? I'm not sure how to narrow it down.
There are plenty of apps that show rogue apps that are draining battery or using a high RAM/CPU resource, you could try one of those from the play store
But other than that, look back to approximately when the problem started, and which apps you installed just prior to that (Or however long it takes for the problem to show up once you clear cache) and remove those one by one
Or remove all apps (factory reset) and install them all again one by one
Also check play store app reviews for apps you are suspicious about, and see if anyone else is getting the same problem / google those apps and the problem
Cool. Thanks for the help. And so quickly at that!
Hooray!
I think I found the app. It was Kindlde for Samsung. That thing restarts like crazy. My phone is running much better thanks for the help.
