Unless I am missing something, why can't I search my corporate e-mail inbox? I can search virtually everything else (including gmail), but can't perform a basic function that has been available on Blackberry's since the beginning of time?
How am I supposed to find e-mail messages buried in a list of 100s if not 1000s?

Hi,
I have just upgraded from a very tired SE P900 to an Orange SPV M5000/HTC Universal and so far am loving it.
I run several email accounts and would like to be able to monitor at least two or three of them from the M5000, collecting the emails seperately as opposed to forwarding them all to a central inbox but there doesn't seem to be any logical way of doing it.
Also, what is the cheapest way of setting up some sort of push email functionality - I have only just started to look into this and see that Orange charge extra for the service.
I have updated (after problems with the Country ID error) to Orange's AKU2 ROM and have Exchange Server 2003 installed and have access to fixed IPs on the web, etc so can do a lot of things from my end.
Most of the time I will be using it at 3 different sites where I have wireless access and then occasionally would want to use either 3G or GPRS, whatever is available.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
For three seperate e-mail accounts, I'm not sure how to do that with normal POP email.
However, I myself run an IMAP server instead, and it keeps the IMAP emails in a seperate folder for each account. And as a big plus, everything you do is automatically synched between your email clients (e.g. when I read something on my phone, it's also marked as read on my PC)
I hadn't considered IMAP, however how do you deal with sending messages so that they go out of the different messages?
I need to ensure that the messages from the three accounts are kept totally separate with no confusion between sending addresses.

I'm not sure with multiple IMAP accounts, but I do know that if you press "New", it'll just start the message with the current account you're browsing. So if I'm browsing the SMS inbox and press "New" it'll send as a text message, and in IMAP it'll send as an email.
Think your best option would be to test
Sorry, I am a newbie to this. Would you tell me what is IMAP?? and how do i set it up to check my email account?? is it sort of like the push email??
Thx
Maggie
The two main protocols for collecting email on the web are POP3 and IMAP - with POP3 your mail gets delivered into a POP3 mailbox at your ISP and you then login with your mail program to download the emails to your local machine.
IMAP was developed on the basis of leaving your emails on the server and then only grabbing the headers or message bodies that you are interested in reading.
For example I run my own Exchange server and connect to exchange from my desktop to read/send emails. I can then use IMAP from my Universal to connect and give me a view of my message on the Exchange server - it downloads the headers and shows the ones I have read/not read. When I read a message on the Universal it is marked as read back on the Exchange server and appears as read on my desktop and vice versa - this way I don't have any duplicate messages.
Sorry, a bit long winded, but should give you an idea of how handy it can be - the biggest problem is that few ISPs openly support it due to the message store overhead.
Thank you Julian. What program should i use for Imap???
I wanna give it a try. Is there any other softwares out there which givesyou the blackberrry function??
Couple questions regarding the Pocket Outlook.
Anyone have a good method of blocking friggin spam and junk mail? I dont see an option within the app to "block senders" or anything.
If I use Outlook on my desktop and I have multiple "rules" and blocked addresses set up, if I allow my ppc to sync with my desktop outlook, will those rules and settings transfer over?
I know most of you prolly use gmail or yahoo. The issue I have with those is that I receive from multiple accounts. I know you can receive from multiple pop accounts with these, but I have not found a means to actually SEND from these pop addresses on the ppc. Course it is entirely possible I didn't set it up properly.
Looking for email solutions. Thanks.
I run about 8 imap accounts. The only solution to this problem being that i had crazy spam (over 800 a day on som accounts) is running flexmail. It handles imap, pop and txt (sms).
One of the many great things about "flexmail 2007" is that it has the ability to add rules! Yes, so it filters out spam as well. I have spam filters on some of my servers which label spam as {Definitely Spam?} or {Spam?}. I have the rules delete the first, not even placing it in the deleted folder. The second goes to the deleted folder just in case something doesn't belong there.
This is the only solution i found. I saw there are other similar email clients out thee, but being a 'power user' i found this to be the best for me. The only thing flexmail doesn't handle is ms exchange, but i let wm6 handle that 1 account only.
Hi Everybody,
I recently got TP2 rhodium. The 1st WM system for me.
I tried to use Outlook in a "natural" way but I found some simple things I can't do.
Explain.
I have 3 accounts in my phone:
- "Outlook", which is synced with my company PC via ActiveSync.
- A "work account", that I use to receive and send emails using my company ISP (i.e. [email protected]) when I am away.
- A "personal account", that I use to receive and send emails using my personal ISP (i.e. [email protected]) when I am away.
Everything works: Outlook sync, work send-receive emails, personal send-receive emails.
The most simple thing I expect I can do is:
1) I sync Outlook via Activesync. So I get an updated copy of my pc inbox/outbox in my TP2. Including emails I didn't read yet.
2) I go away, get in the inbox of my phone outlook account and read emails. There's one I need to reply immediately!
3) I reply to that email, but...
the reply goes into the outgoing box but it remains there. It will be sent the next time I'll sync, but it will be next week.
I didn't find a way to use one of the 2 other accounts to send that email from inside the "outlook account". It's a reply, so I have to write it inside that account.
The most natural thing would be:
- an option in the "from" field allowing me to use one of the two accounts
- send the email
- watch it going in the outbox of my "outlook account", so that it will be synced the next time.
in addition,
if I send an email from my "work account", it will go into its outbox, but I cannot move it to the "outlook account" outbox, so that it can't be synced when I connect to my pc!!
I suppose many people encountered the same problem.
I tried to search, but I couldn't find any.
Anyone can address me to a solution?
I thank you all in advance.
Hi..
Thats what i did in the past.. i sync emails so that i know which ones i need to reply... but found it a hassle at times...
why not try using pop3 directly? Jus save a copy of emails on server.... i pop as and when i need... but only my outlook in laptop downloads emails.. i find it better in sense i have contorl when i use outlook.. but thats jus me and my 2cents..
Hi chuachongchee,
I hope I'll find a straight way for you and for me to do what I mean.
I can't believe it is not possible to do such an elementary thing with an almost 600€ gear and a WM at its 6th release!!! And such a cool design !!
Do outlook mobile developers ever work away from their pc?
I am not good in WM software "handling", but a lot of people is, and I am sure someone has already solved this issue.
Just hope I'll find one...
hi asamax,
Just confirming that I have a similar problem that would be solved if I could change the "From" field in the outgoing message (as with your problem).
I also have done a lot of searching and found nothing yet.
I have found that its possible to write "plugin" apps for
tmail (aka Outlook mail for WM) but found none that allow the change of the "From" field - annoying!

Don't mind,
I am sure this will be solved.
Such simple change + Such evident miss.
Please skilled-xda-developers write an outlook hacked rev. allowing:
- choose the account in the email "from" field
- copy/move emails between different accounts folders
- some additional options for each accounts would be useful: default c/c and hidden c/c recipients.
the 3rd in the list allowed me to solve this issue in my old Nokia E70 (!!).
I just put a rule for incoming mail in my PC outlook: when I receive a mail in whic i am in hidden c/c AND in the from fields, move it in the sent items folder. But it was not a very clean way... I expect more from my brand new rhodium!!!
What I've noticed with this handset is that when I do a send/receive for mail is that anything that I've set up as a filter on my web account stays where it is.
The only mail I get on my handset is Inbox and Spam. I certainly don't want Spam but does this mean I have to unfilter my mail just to get it on my handset?
My last phone (LG Renoir) showed me all mail that arrived on my web based account regardless of what folder I may have filtered it to.
Has anyone else noticed this? If so, are there any settings I need to tweak. While I have seen settings, it's possible I haven't understood them.
Many thanks
I have just moved up to an HD2 from a Dash 3G and a regular Dash before that. I use GMail through Outlook as my primary personal email source (POP). Since I can't access personal email during the work day, I use my phone's email client to check my GMail. On both of my Dashes, email would come through, I could read it, and then it would sit in my phone's GMail inbox until I downloaded mail via POP into Outlook in the evenings or whenever. On my HD2, however, once I read an email, it disappears from the inbox, is automatically archived on GMail's servers, and will not download into Outlook. I much prefer the way it was handled with my Dashes, but the settings appear to be identical between those and the HD2. Can anyone explain what is happening or help me change the proper settings accordingly? Thanks.
