Music Playing skips and pause even if no other tasks are running? - Galaxy S I9000 General

I noticed this happening three to four times so far. Anyone else noticing it?

Your question got me wondering, is etiquette pause available on the SGS???

Sorry, what is etiquetee pause? If it is an application, then I can't find it at the Android Market Place. What does it doe anyway? Is it a solution for the same problem on other Android phones?

Na, it's an option Samsung has on some of their phones (has it on my Omnia II). It's the option that pauses the music if you flip your phone over (mutes incoming calls, alarms, etc...)
Many people had the problem where if you had etiquette enabled and the phone in your pocket, while walking and listening to music, the music would pause on and off (accelerometer going crazy in your pocket). Very annoying.

Alarm app??

Hey the ****y alarm sucks on our tmobile mda (us) and they dont play mp3s sorry for posting for help altho i have already looked and checked the ftp but i didnt know where to look or what its called. so can anyone direct me to the app? or a registry hack to get mp3 suport on the stock alarm? thanks in advance and i really like the site its very nice. good to see so much support
i use ptravelalarm for that.nice UI and can play mp3 file. i have to change the alarm sound every now and then before my ears get used to the sound and ignore it
or else, you might want to try pocketalarm. both application cost you some penny though
isnt there any freeware for an alarm
http://www.freewareppc.com/clock/wolfclock.shtml
this program is an alarm that can use mp3's
but it is kinda ugly and bulky... i removed it shortly after installing it, but your taste might be different than mine.
if you manage to find something else, post it here cus i too would like an alarm that plays mp3s
Try Mortplayer. While it is a music player, it has a simple alarm on it that can made for daily, weekday, or each day use. It doesn't have multiple alarms for the days of the week, but like I said, it's alarm system is simple.
Curious D, I have mortplayer but does the app need to be open in order for the alarm to go off? Or can I close it?

Here is another that i just found, it is in french, but once you figure it out, it works well

Can close. I have my phone on standby with the volume off and it will go off on time with the volume turned back on. It will not turn on the volume for the phone, just the system volume. You can set the volume level for the alarm too by setting the preamp and volume on start up.
damn im having no luck here. i used to have an MPX220 that i had to hack the registry (add a few lines) for MP3 support for the alarm sound, but i figured my MDA would already come prepared for it

Here's a free reliable mobile alarm app that plays any MP3 you choose. I've had this app on my 8125 for over a year, and it's always been dependable, even if you soft reset before the app takes effect. This can be stored anywhere you like...just read the read me file for instructions.

Best screen locking program?

Hello. Looking for a good screen locking program. I was planning on using S2U2 but I heard that when you activate it while music is playing, the music stops. Is there any that is like it but doesn't stop the music program?

Nonsense, and why not just try it? If you don't like it, remove it.

Music stops only if you are using the speakers (no headphones connected) and you press the power button to turn off the screen. Otherwise, no problems with S2U2 for me.
Smartlock has recently evolved to be one of the best IMO. Thread is in Dev/Hacking->WM apps and games

I had problems with both SU2U and Smartlock which ranged from locking up the phone every 5 seconds to not coming on at all.
I am currently testing pocketshield at it is worthy trying.
As for me, I'm a strong proponent of TouchLockPro. It's FOSS and I can use the zoom bar of my TP2 to unlock. That's really something awesome.
Have always been using Throttlelock since it allows me to put in a "password" I'm still with version 0.6

Depending on when you tried smartlock, things may be vastly different now. The app went through a flurry of changes starting in mid-December that finished up with v1.9A that was only released a couple of days ago. v1.9A is the stable one.
I have a stock Touch Pro 2 and have had nothing but problems with S2U2 hogging system resources. The iLock component is one of the most misbehaved apps I've ever encountered. It would simply start to hog CPU time to the extent that my device came to a grounding halt. Tried all sorts of things to resolve and have since given up on this app.
I now use Touch Lock Pro 2.9

Excellent, doesn't tie up resources, works every time, flexible options, I consider this to be the best locking app around for WM - it does away with all the fluff, it's free and it works. What more do you want?

I use LockDevice. Link below. Uses stock WM slider lock. So far works great. TouckLockPro looks pretty sweet though.. I might give that one a try.

Sense Music Player with Scroll bar?

Is it possible to add a side scroll or letter scroll to the SENSE music player? I know the contacts has a scroll, it is dreadful to flick all the way down to my songs that start with W's and Z's.
Omg +1 on this, I was just telling the wifey (who also has a modded HD2, thanks NRG) that I wish HTC had included this feature, since Tmo is pushing it as an entertainment device they should assume that people will be putting their music on it and it blows big time b/c I have roughly 700 songs and if I want a anything in the higher letters I have to scroll and scroll and scroll.
I would love to see if someone could make this happen.
+1 for this.
I love HTC sense music player, but this is the one thing missing for me.
It can take quite a few flicks of the finger to scroll through the artists (1300 songs).
Please can someone help
me to
on another note does anyone know how to add a quick link to the htc music player?
+1 for this
i roughly got 1600 songs on the device so searching for a songs frustrates my ass off
Damn i would love this feature soo much. Its always a mess to get to the end this loooooong list. Think it might be possible for our developers but dont know if anybody is interested in programming this as many of them dont use the Sense Player at all but instead Mort Player, PocketPlayer etc. But as the Sense Player offers everything i need, has no bugs (at least for me) and integrates very well i dont want nothing else... except THIS feature
+1
Sick of scrolling down 2000 songs looking for the name.
+1 again, great idea!

I have the same problem and also needed answers! After much research, some people suggested backing up the memory card, formatting it appropriately and then making sure the music was placed in folders (like tracks of one album in a folder) to essentially make it so that not all tracks were in one folder. It has also been suggested to put all tracks on the root of the card, kind of contradicting the previous suggestion. I haven't tried any of these methods yet but what I found a couple of people claimed to work is converting the mp3's to wma. We shouldnt have to do this, supposingly it works, but again I have yet to try this!
bump...SOMEONE MAKE THIS so I CAN HAVE IT! GRR! it must be possible come onn!
great idea for a slider. this must be possable.....right?
id rather have the alphabet slider like in the contacts list in my music player instead...it seriously sucks having to slide manually through thousands of songs...GRR someone please make this for us! I will thank you eternally :]
Yeah this thread fell back a while but nice to see there is still interest. Yes at the very least a slider would be nice but the slider from contacts is perfect. I wonder how hard it would be to transfer over?
1+ for the idea!!!!and also could be good to change the "Purchased" tab in the library for "latest additions" for example, because this tab is useless and it would be easier to find the music!!!!

Can you disable the touchscreen?

Here's the scenario: My 5 year old daughter wants to watch a movie on my Hero. I bring up Madagascar 2 and hand her the phone. 2 minutes later she says the movie stopped because she accidentally touched or swiped the screen.
Is there a way to disable the touchscreen so that whatever program is active doesn't get interrupted? Maybe something like Proximity Sensor, but without having to use the sensor. Or some type of key button combination like Home+Search+Volume Down.
is this a serious question? no you cannot disable the touchscreen.

Yes, it's a serious question. I saw this posted in a WinMo forum:
"If it's a custom app you could get the app to set the sensitivity of the screen in the registry to zero. That should do it. I've not been able to find anything existing though. Not even on Codeproject, which usually has unusual stuff like that. I suspect the Compact Framework doesn't support it so the registry is your best bet."
I'm sure it's possible...just out of my realm. Hell, if someone can make the End Call button disappear to avoid Face Hang Ups, I'm sure someone else could make this happen.

android doesn't have a registry like winmo, ive never heard of anybody being able to disable the touchscreen, nor want to do it in the first place. sorry....
Good idea, but would probably be most practical to have built into a video player app. An Android VLC player would make my year...maybe after DIVX starts hitting more Android handsets this year more versatile players will show up.
the problem with media players is the have to run in a java VM instead of nativley.

Android has a Native development kit available so you can run native C++ code. There is a topic over at the VLC site talking about getting someone to do this - but its REALLY difficult to do it. I thought about it, but I have 0 experience with Media software.
It's my understanding the NDK is a joke a this point. The guys at Coreplayer have been trying to get a full functioning media player for months.

Probably going to have to end up doing what I did with my kid: Tell her if she touches the phone the movie will end...then take it away for the day. Try again the next day. After a day or two she'll get the point. We also found a good spot on a table and in the car to set the phone and told the rugrat not to touch it if he wanted to see the movie. My kid's 8, so that worked. Not sure if you'll have the same results.
Not quite what you're looking I know, but...probably the best you'll get: Train the kid to leave it alone

That is the only way I see it as possible. Android has several running levels for programs. I don't think it is possible for a backgrounded app to take over any functionality of the touchscreen.
Someone would have to write a custom player that doesn't respond to the screen.
For example there is a toddler game app (can't remember the name) that you can only exit by touching a combination of points on the screen. Writing this idea into a kid's player would be a cool app idea.

bluetooth always on

Hello to all.
I'm wondering if someone can help me on how i can have bluetooth always on phone, because by the time screen closes bluetooth headset disconnects.
Thanks
I've never experienced this behavior and I use my bluetooth headset all the time.. Have you added lots of things to your auto-end list? You're certain its bluetooth and not music in general that is cutting out when the screen locks?

Sorry for asking such a stupid question, but i'm a newbie in android and perhaps i have done that.Where i can find if a had added apps in the auto end list?
I haven't tested about music but only bluetooth when the screen locks?
There is an app called 'Task Manager' that is available by default on the phone. It has a list called 'Auto-end', where any app included is supposed to be killed when the screen locks. Although, it doesn't always seem to be the case.
You should check and see if it is the bluetooth or the just music in general. I've seen several people complain about their music cutting out when the screen locks. Someone of those threads might have answers.
