Hello. Looking for a good screen locking program. I was planning on using S2U2 but I heard that when you activate it while music is playing, the music stops. Is there any that is like it but doesn't stop the music program?

Nonsense, and why not just try it? If you don't like it, remove it.

Music stops only if you are using the speakers (no headphones connected) and you press the power button to turn off the screen. Otherwise, no problems with S2U2 for me.

I had problems with both SU2U and Smartlock which ranged from locking up the phone every 5 seconds to not coming on at all.
I am currently testing pocketshield at it is worthy trying.
As for me, I'm a strong proponent of TouchLockPro. It's FOSS and I can use the zoom bar of my TP2 to unlock. That's really something awesome.
Have always been using Throttlelock since it allows me to put in a "password" I'm still with version 0.6

Depending on when you tried smartlock, things may be vastly different now. The app went through a flurry of changes starting in mid-December that finished up with v1.9A that was only released a couple of days ago. v1.9A is the stable one.
I have a stock Touch Pro 2 and have had nothing but problems with S2U2 hogging system resources. The iLock component is one of the most misbehaved apps I've ever encountered. It would simply start to hog CPU time to the extent that my device came to a grounding halt. Tried all sorts of things to resolve and have since given up on this app.
I now use Touch Lock Pro 2.9
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444215
Excellent, doesn't tie up resources, works every time, flexible options, I consider this to be the best locking app around for WM - it does away with all the fluff, it's free and it works. What more do you want?

I use LockDevice. Link below. Uses stock WM slider lock. So far works great. TouckLockPro looks pretty sweet though.. I might give that one a try.

Occasionally, when I go to launch the messaging app on my xv6800 either through HTC Home or from the hardware button, it will either not launch or take it's time freezing up the phone in the mean time. other times, it opens right up. Hit & Miss as some would say. Anyone else deal with this and/or have a solution?

I deal with it and it is annoying to say the least.
If the messaging application or any application is already running in RAM then it should start up faster, But if you close it out completely it will take a while to launch an application depending on the size.

same here.. just something to live with.......
Just have it running in your phone's RAM. Don't close out of it because that's what will happen. I just leave mine running all the time, and I have my QuickMenu set to exclude it from closing it when you press X. It loads up instantly like this.
I suffer the same headache, though it only started for me about a week ago (and I've had my xv6800 for 4 months).
The only thing that has changed on my phone since Messaging started to freeze/lock up is that I installed the new PCM Keyboard (v 0.14). I doubt that's the cause, but wondering if any of you are running it too?
UPDATE
I recently installed SPB Pocket Plus due to some personal interests and after having it on for a day I noticed that launching the messaging application runs abit faster.

I have PCM 14 on mine too but haven't noticed if that's been the culprit. But the Quick Menu solution works.
I recently found a registry edit (though for the life of me I can't remember where) that sped up the launching of internet explorer. It took the launching from 4-5 seconds to instantaneous. Maybe there is a reg edit to fix messaging also?
Updated
BAD
Accelerometer Changescreen, way too slow...will work on tweaking-after freeing up program memory from push and opera much better
Tflo does not work in bing
Verizon apps plague the start menu- fixed
Pandora vga works but not really
Skyfire malfunctioning sound driver-when installing from app store no issues (weird)
App store as of now still blows-yep still does
Working with FusionPlus, but as of now not syncing-fixed
Verizon Visual voicemail not workingIf you are still an "alltel customer" you can not use any verizon app except vz navi (who cares it sucks anyway) fusion plus works great
GOOD
Screen Sensitivity and fluid scrolling perfect
My location weather awesome
Keyboard Suprisingly good with XT9
Zoom bar is integrated beautifully
Flip phone upside down to turn speaker phone on, impressive
Htc start menu very good
Battery life light years better than my old touch pro's
Volume in call and system, beautiful and crisp
Camera pics are beautiful
Kickstand is convient for beautiful youtube viewing on huge screen
This phone is very impressive overall. I am very happy with it. It will do very nicely till the HD2 comes along.
Got mine Friday after my Mogul finally bit it.
The Imagio is the 1st phone I've been able to really use right out of the box with minimal tweaking. I spent no less than a couple of weeks tweaking and working with the kitchen to get the Mogul where I wanted it but the Imagio is running fine and stable (with its bloatware).
I was able to use the Microsoft My Phone to upload all my docs, contacts, etc. prior to turning off my old phone and d/l all that into the Imagio with no problems.
Got TomTom installed with no problems, TCPMP and WVD, and all my other apps (after loading .net CF 3.5 from M$).
I agree with your Pros and Cons above and am just waiting for some smart Chef to come up with the tools needed to strip out all of the useless stuff from VZW.

2.99/month its worth it if you need to document or archive your voicemail other than that no real use for it only if your to lazy to actually use the automated portion of your voicemail.

$2.99/month... I got my Imagio on October 7th, and I've been using Visual VM ever since without issue.
Honestly though, i guess i was envisioning that it would transcribe my vm's on the screen so i wouldn't have to listen to them, but for $2.99/month, I figure I'll try it for a bit and then decide later if i want to make it permanent.

Volume Control Problem
Here's one for the problem list:
Sitting on the train listening to Sirius through my WM5 app is great, but you can't set the ringer to vibrate while the system volume is turned up.
Unless I'm missing something. I did find that you can separate ringer and system volumes in setting, but changing one changes the other.
My only work-around right now is to set the ringer type to vibrate then ring and hope that I can answer the phone before it starts ringing.
hey X-Man what sirius app do you use?
It bugs me I cant move the first 3 apps at the top of the start menu.
other than small things like that, so far I love this phone

You can change this in the registry by going to:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\#\
Where # = 0-3 and open the IsReadOnly key and change it from 1 to 0 for each of them. That will unlock those buttons on the launcher.

Here's the scenario: My 5 year old daughter wants to watch a movie on my Hero. I bring up Madagascar 2 and hand her the phone. 2 minutes later she says the movie stopped because she accidentally touched or swiped the screen.
Is there a way to disable the touchscreen so that whatever program is active doesn't get interrupted? Maybe something like Proximity Sensor, but without having to use the sensor. Or some type of key button combination like Home+Search+Volume Down.
is this a serious question? no you cannot disable the touchscreen.

Yes, it's a serious question. I saw this posted in a WinMo forum:
"If it's a custom app you could get the app to set the sensitivity of the screen in the registry to zero. That should do it. I've not been able to find anything existing though. Not even on Codeproject, which usually has unusual stuff like that. I suspect the Compact Framework doesn't support it so the registry is your best bet."
I'm sure it's possible...just out of my realm. Hell, if someone can make the End Call button disappear to avoid Face Hang Ups, I'm sure someone else could make this happen.

android doesn't have a registry like winmo, ive never heard of anybody being able to disable the touchscreen, nor want to do it in the first place. sorry....
Good idea, but would probably be most practical to have built into a video player app. An Android VLC player would make my year...maybe after DIVX starts hitting more Android handsets this year more versatile players will show up.
the problem with media players is the have to run in a java VM instead of nativley.

Android has a Native development kit available so you can run native C++ code. There is a topic over at the VLC site talking about getting someone to do this - but its REALLY difficult to do it. I thought about it, but I have 0 experience with Media software.
It's my understanding the NDK is a joke a this point. The guys at Coreplayer have been trying to get a full functioning media player for months.

Probably going to have to end up doing what I did with my kid: Tell her if she touches the phone the movie will end...then take it away for the day. Try again the next day. After a day or two she'll get the point. We also found a good spot on a table and in the car to set the phone and told the rugrat not to touch it if he wanted to see the movie. My kid's 8, so that worked. Not sure if you'll have the same results.
Not quite what you're looking I know, but...probably the best you'll get: Train the kid to leave it alone

That is the only way I see it as possible. Android has several running levels for programs. I don't think it is possible for a backgrounded app to take over any functionality of the touchscreen.
Someone would have to write a custom player that doesn't respond to the screen.
For example there is a toddler game app (can't remember the name) that you can only exit by touching a combination of points on the screen. Writing this idea into a kid's player would be a cool app idea.
Is there a way I can automatically disable security (aside from the swipe) when it connects to my home network? I have no need for it to be locked at home and it would be annoying to disable every single time. Is there a way to only use the security when it's on the 4g network?
Anyone?
Look for an app on Play Store called Tasker. You can set it up that when connected to your Wifi it will do remove your screen lock etc

I have the Same need.
I tried using AutomateIt to do this but it doesn't have the option to manipulate the lock screen.
Ill check tasker.
There's some vids on here that show you how to use Tasker to achieve this. Have a look at the XDA TV link above, I'm sure your search/navigation-fu is strong
I thought I heard this would be a stock feature, and now that I've searched around a bit here I see I haven't gone crazy and it was initially announced. Sounds like some carriers may have it, but maybe no one does at all.
If you want something that doesn't have the overhead of tasker consider trying No Lock off the market. It has a 1x widget that looks like a padlock and you touch it to either enable the lockscreen or disable it. I've been using it for years and it has worked perfectly on one device after another. This has the benefit of allowing you to disable or enable the lock screen situationally at any time and place in the simplest and quickest possible manner.

No Lock doesn't work on my S4 unfortunately.
Good app if it worked.
Weird, works same as always on mine which is the international 9500. Worked on the stock rom, a couple other stock roms I tried, all the custom roms. I do get it though, I've also been using winamp for quite a while but this S4 gets a lag issue with the 4x1 widget that I never had before. Essentially whatever screen I place it on gets a lag going to that screen from either direction while the rest of the screens are smooth. Does it with every rom and all the launchers I use. Go figure. Using the stock music for now.

Spend the time and money on tasker, you'll be glad you did. I have it set that when I'm near cell towers near home, it'll turn on Wi-Fi, then connect to my home network, then disable keyguard, then lower volume or put on vibrate, it's awesome.

I installed it yesterday to give it a go. Really nice clean interface, im liking it a lot.
Some benefits.
Simple interface, clean...Shows speed and time and shortcuts to some apps (I only use music, digital radio and spotify so this is perfect for me)
Installs as an App and you can start it from shortcut, once happy you can have it start automatically on boot as your default launcher.
Has in built screen dimming which works (All other auto dimmers have never worked for me)
3 different launcher themes, im using the one in the photo.
Easy to remove if not happy

Yes all hard buttons function the same, Back exits apps and Home takes you back to desktop.
Really its just a choice of 3 new launchers in an App rather than playing around with system files
This looks really clean!
I gave it a shot on mine. Looks really nice. I wish the app buttons were a bit larger though. Looks much more like a OEM type interface.

Ye thats what i thought, looks similar to WinCE radio launchers
One thing i found to be a pain was that android by default, launches apps you had previously running (Which includes this Launcher)
So its already loaded when your device boots up, but as you open up your music, the Self boot of the app kicks in as well and you go back to desktop.
Im sure easy to get over somehow
So you have it set to autoplay off usb? Mine was playing the music as soon as it booted. If you disable the autoplay it doesn't launch the music app on startup.
I have it and love it! Originally downloaded it because it uses power amp as the default music player, I downloaded pro because with pro I can make it as my default home screen launcher. I've been very pleased with the results so far. And I've been running its for about a month.

Yes, a 1 device solution is generally always more reliable than a 2 device.
I'm a bit confused by this app. Can someone help please? I bought a car with AndroidAuto built in and I made the assumption (probably wrongly) that this is a replacement launcher for my car dash. But - I'm not sure how to get it to mirror into my vehicle. Do I need AA installed, or do I use Mirror Link? Confused!
Hard Buttons
How did you connect the head unit to your hard button controls?
How to add activity shortcuts to Car Launcher app?
How to deactivate speed in statusbar?
I used the Trial for about 5 minutes before I purchased the full version. This is exactly what I needed Now, Unfortunately im going to have to purchase poweramp i think
Using it for a few weeks now. Very happy with it.
