Hello to all.
I'm wondering if someone can help me on how i can have bluetooth always on phone, because by the time screen closes bluetooth headset disconnects.
Thanks
I've never experienced this behavior and I use my bluetooth headset all the time.. Have you added lots of things to your auto-end list? You're certain its bluetooth and not music in general that is cutting out when the screen locks?

Sorry for asking such a stupid question, but i'm a newbie in android and perhaps i have done that.Where i can find if a had added apps in the auto end list?
I haven't tested about music but only bluetooth when the screen locks?
There is an app called 'Task Manager' that is available by default on the phone. It has a list called 'Auto-end', where any app included is supposed to be killed when the screen locks. Although, it doesn't always seem to be the case.
You should check and see if it is the bluetooth or the just music in general. I've seen several people complain about their music cutting out when the screen locks. Someone of those threads might have answers.

Thanks a lot.
Found the solution.
I remove all the apps from task manager auto kill and now it is working perfect.
Thanks again for your help

Nonsense, and why not just try it? If you don't like it, remove it.

Music stops only if you are using the speakers (no headphones connected) and you press the power button to turn off the screen. Otherwise, no problems with S2U2 for me.

I had problems with both SU2U and Smartlock which ranged from locking up the phone every 5 seconds to not coming on at all.
I am currently testing pocketshield at it is worthy trying.
As for me, I'm a strong proponent of TouchLockPro. It's FOSS and I can use the zoom bar of my TP2 to unlock. That's really something awesome.
Have always been using Throttlelock since it allows me to put in a "password" I'm still with version 0.6

Depending on when you tried smartlock, things may be vastly different now. The app went through a flurry of changes starting in mid-December that finished up with v1.9A that was only released a couple of days ago. v1.9A is the stable one.
I have a stock Touch Pro 2 and have had nothing but problems with S2U2 hogging system resources. The iLock component is one of the most misbehaved apps I've ever encountered. It would simply start to hog CPU time to the extent that my device came to a grounding halt. Tried all sorts of things to resolve and have since given up on this app.
I now use Touch Lock Pro 2.9

Excellent, doesn't tie up resources, works every time, flexible options, I consider this to be the best locking app around for WM - it does away with all the fluff, it's free and it works. What more do you want?

I use LockDevice. Link below. Uses stock WM slider lock. So far works great. TouckLockPro looks pretty sweet though.. I might give that one a try.

Hey all,
I've had my (Sprint) Hero for a couple weeks now and enjoying being able to mess around with different roms and tweaks but I've noticed something annoying. I've been using task killers more heavily in the past week or two now and it appears that apps will sometimes open up by themselves.
I had originally not noticed it because I've been playing with the phone so much I generally had the apps open a lot from messing around and showing people different things. Lately I've got into the habit of killing tasks. I'll go to pick up my phone and notice my RAM usage is rather high and I find apps running that I haven't opened.
Most commonly I see:
Google Shopper
Sprint Navigation (Decided to just delete it)
Market
Clock (the alarm app appears when I switch to it)
Weather
com.google.vrec (can't remember name... also deleted)
So ... I was wondering if anyone could tell me why these would be opening by themselves.
Thanks

Hey Poorboy,
That's just INSANELY helpful! I'm SO glad you're around ... if it weren't for you, he would never have figured that out.
bhhandley,
I've noticed it as well, seems to be frequently used apps or apps with registered services. I just kill them.
I guess that's not the best solution

Poorboy you do make me laff!
regarding the apps, i might be wrong but are the apps opening on your home screen?? I noticed that if i closed all apps with a task manager app then when i scrolled through the home screen the apps i have on there seem to take up mem again, (like a weather app attached to the clock) aswell as other apps that are designed to be running all the time like wallswitcher, things like foot prints seems to be running if i have used the camra...
maybe im wrong.. but this is what i noticed.
get autostarts from market, it will show you on what event which app will be started. also gives the power to disable automatic app starts.

+1 Very cool app. Thank you for recommending it.
Found a bunch of the apps wanting to start after a connectivity change. I believe that wifi and mobile network connections turn themselves off after being inactive for awhile and start up again after the phone is brought out of sleep or at least do it periodically which explains what's going on.
Apps are always opening by themselves, often I don't even look at the task manager I'll just use one of the "kill all apps" widgets and it'll tell me that it killed 3 or 4 apps, none of which were apps I opened myself.

Greetings one and all! After much toiling and lurking on XDA (as well as some experimentation on my end) I have finally got my Bluetooth enabled voice dialer working flawlessly! I can now initiate all sorts of voice commands directly from my headset without needing to touch the Tab at all.
I shall now explain how.
Download and ADB Push/RootExplorer/Etc the attached VoiceDialer.apk to /system/app.
This one is different from the other APKs I've found posted on xda. I ripped it straight from my N1. It doesn't mute your headset when you long-press call and talks with a robotic voice instead of a flat beep.
Secondly (and what I believe to be *the* major detail) is an alternate lockscreen is required. The Tab wasn't really built for BT voice dialing (unlike the N1), so the stock lockscreen isn't programmed to wake and unlock when Long-press Call is initiated. In my case I used WidgetLocker because it is pure awesome. Worth every penny.
And finally I do have Google's Car Home Core & Launcher installed. While I question the direct correlation, I do know they do work closely together and frankly it doesn't hurt.
Feel free to install, mix & match as you please. Perhaps you don't need a 3rd party lockscreen with this particular iteration of VoiceDialer.apk. I haven't bothered to find out.
Also don't confuse this version of VoiceDialer with others posted around XDA. It is 72.8 KB where the others I've found are 40kb and 80kb respectively.
Best of luck and enjoy your new found headset freedom!
Nice finding, I'll give it a try. However, your VoiceDialer APK is not signed. I've already created a signed version, so if you don't mind, you will find it attached.
Anyone try this out yet?
Sounds great... Will try tomorrow.

Ahh, thanks for supplying that. To be perfectly honest I have no idea whatsoever what the difference between a signed and unsigned APK are. I just used what I knew worked for me.

You're welcome. An unsigned apk cannot be installed directly through adb. You will receive an error complaining about a certificate.
BTW: There is a newer version (2.2.1.4) of the Google Car Home App floating around here. Google made available a customizable version for Nexus One and Motorola Droid. However this version runs perfectly nice on my tab.

vlingo works from samsung apps, but you still need to do the lock screen thing, as otherwise you need to unlock every time you want to use a voice command, which is a bit of a pain.. don't understand why samsung wouldn't have implemented this!
Thanks for the tip. Vlingo works. I heard it drains battery though, is that the case for you?
I am trying out widget locker for locking the screen as suggested by the OP. Defeats the purpose of voicedial if I have to take it out to turn it on every time I want to call, I might as well dial it on the tab.
Edit: After a few hours of playing with widget locker, I still can't get bluetooth voice command going when the tab's screen is off...

Whenever I plug in my headphones into Note-3, the Samsung Music app starts and plays. Personally, I prefer to not have it start. I usually use a different music app or audio book player.
Is there a way (presumably in settings somewhere) of disabling Music app from starting when earphones are plugged in?

I think there is a setting for it somewhere in the ROM itself, as I recall, but I always just completely remove the service with Titanium Backup.
There was a setting for it, but I can't seem to locate it anymore. The setting still exists in N7player though.
Mine doesn't do this, perhaps because I disabled MusicFX, Adapt Sound and Multimedia UI Service Layer? Or the setting in N7 enforces it?

I have disabled the PageBuddyNotiSvc" in Application Manager. I had to also delete the service's cache, then it worked.
This works - YEAH!
I am a relatively new Tasker user but I'm already a Tasker addict. I have like 8 - 10 plug-ins and no clue how to even wrap my brain around what I can do with them all! I do have about 20 profiles already and absolutely love it.
I thought maybe we could have a thread in here devoted to using Tasker with our Pixels. Some phone specific things may apply, considering our Android version and the existence of our Assistant. I'll share some profiles I have and feel free to share ones you find helpful!
1) When I go to Target, it automatically opens up Cartwheel app and my shopping list app, turns off GPS, and increases screen on time to 2 minutes before timing out. When I leave Target, it sets things back to normal and texts my wife that I'm leaving Target.
2) At work, my phone goes to vibrate mode and my WiFi/data are turned off along with location. I can't use my phone during work anyway (I teach) so it just kills my battery all day usually due to bad signal in my room.
3) If I text "FINDME" to my phone, it turns up the volume, blasts a song, turns on the screen and the flashlight. Upon finding it, a quick shake back and forth resets everything to normal.
4) My night mode turns sounds all off and turns on Blue Light filter.
5) If I open up Google Maps, my GPS goes to high accuracy mode and volume is turned up.
This is an awesome thread idea. I'm going to be messing around with it so I'll post once I come up with some good ones. Interesting to see what other people use it for.
For number 5 is it possible to have GPS turn on when opening google maps and then turn it back off when I fully quit the app? I keep my GPS off at all times.

Absolutely, you just toggle "Location Services" instead of "Location Mode". You'll need the free plug-in "secure settings" to accomplish this. That's a tremendous app, so I'd get the pro version if you don't mind the $1.50 charge. It opens up so many possibilities.
Speaking of which, I hope to see some awesome integration with the Google Assistant. Between the Assistant and Tasker, that would be an amazing duo.

Tasker does have a free trial though. It's not available on the Play Store but you can download the APK on the developer's site. You can Google it and try it out. That's how I got addicted! Bought it within 12 hours. Haha.

6) One of my other profiles is when I plug in my headphones, it launched my music app (Gonemad Media Player) and turns the media volume to the level I like. Upon unplugging, the media volume is restored to normal and Tasker kills the app.

How specifically did you use Tasker to turn on the blue light filter?
Hm. I opened secure settings and saw this..
but root works for multiple other apps.
I love using having Tasker on my Pixel! I still haven't made as many plugins as I need to but once I get my head wrapped around its full potential I'll certainly make more tasks.
Right now I have: Off Mobile Data @ Home & On Wifi
Lower media volume after 10pm for my mobile games.
Turn off all sorts of things like bluetooth, wifi, location, when battery is below 25 (kinda defeats the purpose of android's built in power saver right?)
I like your Google Maps idea, and I think I'll do something like that too.
Hope to learn more task tips on this thread!

Systemless root.
Try the fix here, I believe it's the one that worked for me last time I had this issue.
https://dammit.nl/p/962
Edit.
Btw, I haven't had this issue since the original version of SuperSU was released for our phones.
Are you using an old version of root?
Or maybe it's because I'm on custom ROM's lately (selinux = permissive)

I want to get into AutoApps someday too. Just haven't really sat down and learned the extra functionality though.
Been waiting for better OK Google functionality to come around before I bother learning anything heavy duty.
As it is, I have six Tasker profiles that meet most of my needs.

Secure settings hasn't been updated in a long time and that's what the problem is here. It doesn't know about systemless root so it looks in the wrong place for it. There is a work around for it but I don't have a link handy at this time. Some say it works for them and some say it doesn't. I haven't tried it yet so I can't say one way or the other. If I can find a link to the thread, I'll post it here unless somebody else does first.
I used to use it all the time for turning on GPS whenever Maps or Ulysee Speedometer was started. It worked great.
Also use Tasker to return to the home screen after hanging up a call. I always hated that hanging up the phone would return me to the phone app and I'd have to press the home or back button to get out of it. A small annoyance, I know but it was just one of those things I got sick of and with necessity being the mother of invention, I took care of it with Tasker.

AutoApps is worth it. Opens up so much more. I listen to music all day long and had a profile made up where you could text me "#current" and it would respond back what I was listening to or if no music was playing. Then I found AutoSpotify. So, if nothing was playing you could text "#listento" and a song/artist/album, it would check to make sure headphones were in and that I wasn't in a call, then open whatever was suggested in Spotify. I primarily use Pandora but create playlists in Spotify so had another profile that I could long press volume down and it would pull the track info from Pandora, give me a list of my current playlists on Spotify, and give me an option to add it to one of them or create a new playlist.
I started noticing that I was missing texts (I would get the notification sound but would have no notification and no new text in Textra) so I scrapped anything that needed to intercept new texts. Created a little pop-up with %SMSRF and %SMSRB and sure enough it would display a new text but there'd be no trace of it on my phone.

Most of my Tasker use with my previous phone was to save battery for longer standby times, or to automate routine tasks. I've been using the phone for a couple months without Tasker, but these are probably what I'd like to put back on first.
1) Automatically turn off Wifi when not plugged in after a set time with the screen off. I've had the Pixel chew through my battery a few times from accidentally leaving Wifi on, so this is the biggest one to start using again.
2) Turn autobrightness on or off depending on light sensor reading when screen turns on. I'm generally not a fan of autobrightness, so I had my prior phone use a set brightness in lower-light situations and to turn on autobrightness when the light sensor reading exceeded a pre-selected value.
3) Turn off Bluetooth after set parameters. My previous phone couldn't cast to the TV, so my prior routine will need to change to allow casting.
4) Turn on Bluetooth in the car and launch navigation or another app. My prior phone had a phone-specific car dock that I used to launch the car-specific task, so I'll need to come up with some other way to determine the phone is in the car.
5) Automatically sync when plugged in and connected to home Wifi. I have sync turned off, so I just have Tasker automatically sync when charging at home.
6) Toggle 4G LTE on or off to save battery when not needed. I used Gravitybox for this sort of thing previously, so right now I'm not sure what I could use for changing the cellular settings on the Pixel.

You can use AutoTools. Worth the $1 or whatever it costs.
7) If the screen is on, the phone is in landscape mode, and Google Maps is open, the phone kicks into driving mode (not all my cars in the family have BT so I went a different route so I can use this wherever with my universal phone mount). This increases volume, turns on GPS, increases screen brightness, and allows me to wave my hand past the proximity sensor to turn off the screen (not locked though, so it will still open hands-free with my trusted voice plus OK Google). That last part required a shell command and root access. It's awesome though.
