My Hero won't sync - Hero, G2 Touch General

I can not get my Hero to sync with my computer. I don't know what the problem is. I can mount and view files while the SD card is in the hero plugged in through USB. I really need help. My phone won't connect to the internet now. I just can't figure it out. If you can help I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Help Req, My phone is either dieing or dead

I need help with backing up my contact's etc, I can't get a phone signal, I can with the sim card in another phone in the same room, The beam, inra red and bluetooth won't work either, is there any other way I can back my contacts, one last thing if I run the Task Manager, the phone locks up.
Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks
Is the USB connection still functioning? If so try to sync. with Outlook on your PC. & try to install Sprite Backup, I believe it's available as cab file as well so no USB connection needed, just put it on your storage card & go! With it you can choose to backup every piece of data you like.
Good luck, M
My USB connection still works OK, can you advise where I can find Sprite Backup. Thanks
Sure http://www.spritesoftware.com/pocketpc.php, may the force be with you.
M
you can also just copy the pim.vol from the root drive of your device to your sd card.
or active sync your device and data.
spb backup should also work
I've been working all day and thought I would give it a try, guess what the actice sync has now died, I'm really getting feed up with phone.
Great news after messing around for couple hours finally got the active sync to work, all contact etc backed up. Thanks guys.

Mounting HTC TyTN as a block device

I know this isn't exactly what this site is for, but I managed to delete all the contacts off of my phone. They were stored as part of a PC sync connection that I deleted. For the record, I really hate the way windows mobile ties your contacts to either an exchange connection or pc sync connection, such that deleting the connecting deletes your contacts.
Anyway, I want to try to do a forensic recovery on my phone, but I'm not exactly sure how to mount the device. I have Ubuntu 8.10 laptop and a AT&T 8525. I have successfully used the 8525 as a high speed modem on the laptop, and a dmesg list shows the phone being successfully added as a usb device when I plug it in. The only changes I see under /dev after plugging it in are 4 new usb devices that mount says it can't mount because they aren't block devices. Does anyone know how to access the phone as a usb drive that I can then use dd to copy the bits off of?
Btw, I still have contacts on my sim card intact, but there are a few new ones I want to recover, plus they were organized a lot more nicely. Thanks.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
See if this helps.

Looks promising... I'll give it a shot and let you know. Thanks.

The current short answer is no.

MyTouch won't mount

I have looked all over the internet and this forum and still haven't found an answer. I just flashed my MT3G with Cyanogenmod ROM few days back, today when i tried to mount my phone as an USB removable media and it won't show on My Computer. Anyone had this problem before? This is sort of annoying.
Thanks
make sure you do have internet tethering enabled.. Go to settings, wireless controls, internet teth make sure it is not checked if it is you won't be able to mount.. hope that helps..
I figured it out... I turned USB debugging back on, and it automatically popped back on my computer. I guess is one of those weird things.

MML sync question

just got the phone and have been playing with it for the past few days. so i finally go around to installing motorola media link. i go to try to sync the phone to mml by setting my usb to phone portal as instructed. however, when i do this, it will not sync.
the only way i can get it to sync with the phone is if i set my usb setting to mass storage device
why is this? anyone else having this problem; knows if this "ok"?
any help would be appreciate
I'm getting issues as well. I hit connect and it knocks off the phone from motorola setting onto usb mass storage and then it can't see it to sync. The first time iconnected the phone it worked but then i pdated the software and it stopped working. Anyone else had issues?
