Linpack Results Thread? - EVO 4G General

There was a thread that listed the top linpack results. I can't find it to save my life., Anyone have the link saved? Also... what screen cap app are people using?

There really isn't one. Try drocap2 for screen captures.

Are you really that daft?
Type linpack into google, and your 5th result gives you all the information you need.

For the screenies try the eclipse plugin. Yes google can you help you there too.

Thanks for being so helpful. Too bad you don't have any idea what I'm talking about but nice try. There is a thread here where forum members were posting the screencaps of their linpack results. I saw it the other day but I can't find it again. I've used the search tool on the forum but I couldn't re-find it.

vbenchmark

Hi All,
been reading about an app called vbenchmark to benchmark phone but cant find where to download or buy it (unless its free?)
can anyone point me in the right direction.
Thanks
75 views and nothing? someone must know
thanks
I would love to have just pulled the usual arrogant response: "Google is your friend." However, google does you no good when you misspell the search string.
I think you mean VSBenchmark. It's mostly a graphics benchmark and there's a thread referencing it here.

thankyou, i did google but had the name wrong, had seen it called vbenchmark in another thread which threw me.
Thanks

WinADB: A Frontend for “adb” Command for Google Android Mobile Phones

I have had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the creation of this app, but I follow this guy on Deviant Art, he is constantly coming up with useful things for windows, I had a look today and I found this and though people may find this useful:
WinADB: A Frontend for “adb” Command for Google Android Mobile Phones
This quote is taken from: HERE
If you have a Google Android mobile phone, you might be already knowing about "adb" command which is used to flash mobile phones, installing applications, copying files, etc.
This command is provided using a command-line and doesn't have any GUI.
Our friend "Solo-Dev" @ DA has created a frontend for this command so that you can take all advantages of "adb" command easily and quickly.
"WinADB" is a frontend for "adb" command used for Google Android mobile phones. All the required files you will need are included in the ZIP file. It also includes the required usb drivers for your PC.

I have attached the files below also.
Enjoy
Good find for users of this forum!
Droid Explorer from http://de.codeplex.com does exactly this and much more with GUI.
Thank you Mystic for the find ...
and thanks to memin for his suggestion as well.....some people appreciate it

i think you're exaggerating it a bit. memin respectfully shared what he knows. if anything, you did that with your comments about his contribution to the community. i saw on several occasions he helped people with providing feedback and instructions etc.
looks like somebody found something cool the 'adb app' then some one post a alternative app , then the op gets offended , ...to the op ...i understand what you are saying , but i dont think he really meant to show you up , and isee you do what i do ...look up people stats to see who your dealing with ..but dont be so harsh on the boy ..lol
calm down mobilebuddha thats not the way to do it , i promise ....let it go

I have 300 (three hundred) posts helping people. Search my username for POSTS, not threads. You have no idea who you are blaming.
As always my intentions were helping out the community. Both apps do similar things and people may use whatever suits them best. The other app may have better functions and simplicity. In the end, the goal is to share our knowledge so everbody gets benefit. The response by the OP is VERY wrong.

I think that maybe if you wouldn't have used the caps, you may have come out a little less strong.
@Mystic,
I agree with Thatruth here, I don't think memin meant anything bad, just posted with emphasis that the post shouldn't have had in the first place. I edited his comment (removed the caps) and deleted your post so that this thread can get back on topic. Please guys, keep it that way... there is no reason to be fighting over something like this.
@memin,
While alternatives are always welcome, you nearly hijacked Mystic's thread here. Next time, if you need to share something, please do it in your own thread. You will not be flamed as long as you post in the right section
Now, guys... play nice.

This thinking seems to be common on XDA from what I can tell and it seems flawed. Lets say for example someone is searching for ADB interface apps or by name for either of these apps it would greatly be helpful to read this post and see there is a better option available and that the general opinion is one app may be better then the other. If we can't respond to a thread with facts or opinions you end up seriously crippling the information sharing ability and quality of information on this site.
Sorry to carry this on further in this thread but I really think this is something for you to consider changing your mind about and maybe others who have posted might feel the same way.

[Q] help! need link to thread ive seen!

I am looking for that thread that shows a step by step on how to get your phone setup like specific examples. What i am looking for mainly in that thread is there is a bunch of screen shots of widgets and their names. for instance there is like one dedicated page to battery icons etc... i cant seem to find it anymore. can anyone help!
This is DEFINITELY not the way to search the forums here at XDA.
We all have to search, sorry. But good luck.

Did you think i had not already searched prior to posting my thread? Oops, YOUR bad! I searched for hours. and the reason i was unable to find it was because it was burried very deep in these forums. Your smug replies that do nothing to help but give you another +1 for your post count are not needed. Next time just don't reply if you can't help.
to anyone looking for that same thread it is listed here:

I fail to see where your benchmarks are.
Cheers!
Minimods nowadays...
quadrant gives me around 2200. linpack multi-thread gives 50-56 MFLOPS, single thread ~34.
did anyone else notice the icons in the notification bar (to the right) and the default icons for the new motoblur skin (at the bottom of the homescreen) are low res?
also the livewallpapers issue doesn't seem to be fixed.
i could care less in a beta build, I'm just happy to see that 'unlocked' show up when i boot.
he's right, this thread shouldve been put in q&a

Yeah I couldn't care less either. Thanks for the info. I wonder if well be seeing improved quad scores over froyo in the final build?
benchmarks aren't that great a predictor of real world performance. there was a story last week about someone making a modified CM7 build that unrealistically destroyed benchmarks on the Nexus S
looking forward to the dev work on this thread!

Well, actually you failed to post on the right thread. Jesus this is a development thread.
though this is the wrong section, i was consistently getting 2700's and i maxed around 2850 in quadrant. i have the screenshots if proof is necessary. i also got high 70's in linpack multi-thread.
mods will move this thread when they see it...but who cares about quadrant its not a very accurate gauge of performance. i can tell you that 2.3.4 is definitely faster than 2.2.2 in every way
Linpack multi-thread- high 70s also.
off topic
froyo deblur 78.816 MFLOPS Quadrant 2875

Xda is looking for mods these days..
And we need one, to keep our forum clean, and everything in correct order..
With tags in the topics.. Eg [ROM] [MOD].. Editing topics ..
Etc in a 100 pages thread, if there is solution put a [SOLVED] tag in title or something, move solution to 1st topic,
And possible problems with solutions, that may a user come up..
Deleting off topic stuff, like what I m posting right now..
Or some "OMG! SOS! HELP" threads, that the solution was already answered.. (I ve created some of those )
Anyway.. It needs spending some time daily on the forum.. But we need our atrix mod..
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I'm gettting like 3000 in quadrant and 80-85 on multicore linpack

If you guys believe the moderators are complacent then please bring your concerns to them. You don't need to run around in threads making smug comments when something is out of line - this is what the moderators are for.
Rather than running around and playing internet police, please use the Report To Moderator function. This will alert mods silently and without fanning any flames.
P.S. No one point out the irony in playing Mr. Internet Policeman myself! Damn you if you do! Just tired of the whining!!

only problem is that the 'report post' option has gotten more complicated, and you have to PM a specific mod in order to get anything done....

i WAS getting this on the 1.8.3 froyo build. are you still getting it on the unlocked hktw?
i ran it a few more times and got a 2500 score
To show benchmarks you have to have a "benchmark" to compare to. Just throwing around Quadrant and whatever scores doesn't show or help anything. What is needed are before and after. You take a "benchmark" snapshot before, then do the same test after and compare results. Benchmarks in any industry/technology are the initial test data results. Anything you compare this to afterwards is not technically a benchmark until you determine it is better, and thus need to test the new "benchmark" against the next improvement to substantiate your results.

[hack] amazing benchmark scores

Hi there, i wanted to post this here because this will pretty much tel, you that quadrant scores doesnt really mean anything hopefully now everybody understands that they are just numbers

Well its a hack so it belongs to developement
Did you know that even tough this is a "well known" fact there are soooooo many people who dont know this and they all are asking hey, whats your quadrant
It the i/o part
still they are just numbers and don't measure many other things

Check out the last post of the mentioned thread ...
M sure this will end in the same way!
It should become a rule on XDA that developers are not allowed to use a benchmark to show how great their firmware is because benchmarks really do mean nothing. I remember using a ROM ages ago that got a massive score in Quadrant, and now I can't even beat the most basic phone in the list on Quadrant. Is my phone slower now than it was then? No. It's faster now.
Developers should provide a video of the firmware working, not a picture of a benchmark: that's what I reckon should be a rule.
