Can't connect to wifi tether? - XPERIA X10 General

So this weekend, i put on a wifi tether app for my friend on his HD2. A laptop can connect to it fine, but my xperia x10 can't even find it. Is there any solution to this? Maybe I should be in the HD2 forum asking, but i wanted to know if it was the xperia x10 not being able to connect to ad-hoc connection?

Using ICS to share the WiFi connection?

Hi!
Does anyone know if it; possible to share the wifi connection using internet connection sharing? My wifi card died in my PC and I won't have the replacment until 4 days from now. I was able to connect using the 3G network, which is cool. But I can't seem to find anything about shareing the wifi connection. I'm just using USB for this, with 3G, the speed is more than acceptable, but I'm curous about sharing the WiFi via USB over my Tilt.

Use WMWifirouter

I know it's possible to do this without that software.
Does anyone know the details of this process?

PS3 and wifi to Sprint Hero

hi.....
I have been trying to establish a wireless connection with my PS3 Slim
I had a HTC Diamond with wifi tether...before my Sprint Hero..
I have rooted my hero.. and now running tether wifi.
they both act the same....
my laptop can see and use wifi
my Tivo can see and use wifi
But my PS3 Slim (purchased in November 2009)
The PS3 can see other wifi in the area... but not the cell phone tethers
does anyone know.. why or can give me a guess?
thanks...
PS3 needs to connect to an Access Point, Wifi Tether only creates an ad-hoc network as far as I can see.....

I did ot think that it made a difference to the device.. because.. it sees it as a connection point..
you can only connect with a local wifi network or via ethernet

Apparently android cannot see adhoc wifi networks... There is a Wifi router software for windows 7. search the forum.

I read somewhere in here about PDANET free app found on market. I didn't try it yet.
PdaNet app. requires USB cable. It is free if you want to use it to browse unsecured websites. You need to pay if you want to use it for secure websites.
Android 1.6 can be teethed using a wifi app...but that requires that the phone be rooted and a custom Rom installed.
Ok, for those who don't know what root means. It means that you have super user privileges, like a developer.
So far, nobody has been able to root the X10 though there seems to be progress.
USB teethering is not a bad alternative as long as I can share my internet connection on laptop with my x10.
Thanks guys!

Internet via pc

Hello, sorry if there was a thread like this one, i searched but couldnt find anything.
In the old days, when i had a winmo samsung omnia, then i connected it to pc, it could use it's internet connection, is this possible with x10 ?
Thanks in advance.
PDAnet in Android Market.
I think that software lets you use your mobile connection in pc, what i need is, to use my pc internet connection in the phone, cause i dont have data plan atm :]
u mean internet sharing from your pc. why dun u just turn on your wifi and connect to your router directly?

Anyone ? I really nead this :|
If you don't have Wifi, what are you expecting to do?
Your only other option is setting up an ad-hoc network with your computer (if your computer has a Wifi card capable) and set it to internet sharing, and have the X10 connect to your ad-hoc network.

Replace "X10" with "Android"
Doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.

Wifi Tether

Is it possible, to be connected to a WiFi with your android device, and share it yourself while being connected to it? Because i can only share ADHOC over my laptop, which i can only connect to with my rooted android, and my new android phone cant connect to it... help please.

What exactly are you trying to do? Using something like "Wifi teather for root users" you should be able to set up your phone as a wifi router. Clients (your PC) would get internet access via wifi and your phones cell network connection.

Yep, so tethering will share your mobile internet connection (GPRS, 3G, ...) with other WiFi-capable devices like your notebook. And when tethering is on, you can't connect with your mobile phone to a WiFi network because the WiFi chip can only operate in "client" or tethering mode (as long as I know).
Anyone else think that wifi tether uses way for data than it should?
