Questions on Flashing Omnia II ROM - Omnia II General

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to flash the rom on my Omnia II for the first time so I need some advice. My device has following versions:
PDA: I8000NXXIJ9
CSC: I8000XSOIJ2
PHONE: I8000DXIJ1
I wanna update the JD3 rom but I have few questions,
1) Is it possible to update only PDA and CSC part with JD3 or any other rom leaving eBoot and PHONE part unchanged? Or combination of 3 leaving either eBoot or PHONE part unchanged. Is there any benefit of updating eBoot and/or PHONE part?
2) I am also confused with PDA part. There are upto four parts (files) of PDA to download. My question is, do we need all of them? Or just need part one? And I think we can only select one file on the Octans downloader window.
Can anyone kindly clear my concerns and help me in this regard.
I thank you very much in advance for your response. Any reply would be highly appreciated.

Please Recommend Update for qtek 1010

Hi guys.
Can any one help me on my decision on upgrading my Qtek 1010 to the special Edition ROM 1.2 found in this site? I just want to know if it will not destroy my Phone. Here are the details:
ROM VER: 3.14.06 ENG
ROM DATE: 10/01/02
RADIO VER: T313
PROTOCOL VER: 32S54
NETWORK LOCK : GLOBE TELECOM
Thank you. More power.
SER 1.2 is perfect for unlocking, but if your device is already unlocked why don't you go to a WM2003 ROM ?
Hi j2villar
The ROM upgrade in the kitchen will not dammage the phone part of your Qtech 1010, but it my prevent your Qtech to start if the upgrade process goes wrong.
I have 3 points to your questions as I was having this kind of principle questions 4-6 weeks ago.
1. This forum states all over the place that there are risks associated with upgrade, as with any PC's in the old days! This is especially the case with RUU update more than the PDA side of it.
My personal finding are: Mistakes come from people who did not read enough on this forum  , people who did not apply the basic principles of backing up there original RUU and ROM prior to running the upgrade  .
My recommendation is play as much as you want with your ROM, Do not touch the RUU unless you feel you really need it.
2. Although XDATOOLS allows you to make upgrade without going through the SD CARD and BOOT LOADER, I recommend you to make the investment of an extra SD card (one for the backup, one for loading the new rom) + a USB read+write device.
This is a recommendation that you will find all around the place in this forum.
Try searching with: SD CARDS or BOOTLOADER
3. Same as Biso007, why go the Special Rom Edition which is quite limited compared to the flexibility of a own made kitchen ROM. (If the difference is not all crystal clear to you, it is very surely an indicator that you have not yet build up sufficient knowledge about this general topics to clear you from any possible problem when upgrading.
The Kitchen I use to cook my ROMs is the one of LumpyStephan (which is going to be updated soon I think) try: http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
Now should you want to increase your global understanding, I have personally found the web site associated to this forum it has a lot of FAQ and well described process http://wiki.xda-developers.com
THANK YOU FOR YOUR EXPERT ADVICE I JUST TAKE HOLD OF THIS PDA PHONE LAST MONTH AND I HAVE READ WIKI'S SITE.
THANKS FOR SPENDING TIME TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. MORE POWER

How to Find your Phones Region for changing ROMs

Hi, I've had my omnia 2 (GT-I8000) for almost 2 months, and wanted to change ROMs as my friends have suggested. I looked into it and found that there are a wide variety of ROMs, depending on the region and the codes in the CSC, PDA, PHONE, sections.
these are the current Codes:
PDA: I8000JPJA2
CSC: I8000XSGJA3
PHONE: I8000XXJA1
the store that I bought the Phone from updated my Omnia to
win mo 6.5 ( CE OS 5.2.21883 Build 21883.5.0.73)
I wanted to change the ROM and heard that if the region of the ROM is not compatible with your phone, it won't work. so I would really appreciate any help and suggestions for good ROMs.
Please, if you give suggestions for Roms, or any programs that I have to Use, then please, please, provide the links to them, I would greatly appreciate it! A walkthrough would be nice too, I'm a Complete Noob when it comes to WM phones.
thank you very much.

Novice questions

Hello guys,
First of all Happy new year.
I just got a Samsung Tab and I am learning on it (how to ROM...etc...)
But since it is my first device (android) I would like some help from you
anywhere I can find some tutorials...help ?
what is ROm and what's the difference between ROM and Firmware
what is CSC ? is JPJK2 the latest version ? how ? where ?
thanks a lot.
Pierre
@Pierre. What country are you in, what mobile carrier do you use and what's the sales code on your phone? No one will be able to give you ROM version advice without these basic details.
ROM and firmware are the same thing, people use the names interchangably. The ROM/firmware is the usually seen as the PDA version thats on the device as this is the Android operating system. The devices also have modem software and the CSC (customer specific customisations). The modem code contains drivers for the modem (ie data and voice), WiFi and (afaik) bluetooth. The CSC contains vendor specific applications and mobile network connection details (eg. APN settings).
Have a look around in this forum and in the Samsung Galaxy S forums for tutorials / advice etc and enjoy your Tab!!
If I've given any bad information above, could someone who knows more please feel free to correct me!

Help with flashing - downgrading from 7382 to 7004 or 7008

Hello,
I want to dev-unlock my device, but since it's possible only if phone's OS is 7004 or 7008 i need to downgrade. So i have a few questions :
1.My phone's info right now is:
PDA: i8700 XX KB3
Phone: i8700 XX KB2
CSC: i8700 VVT KB3
Does it make any difference which rom i flash? Can somebody, please, tell me which one is the right for me?
(i wanna end with the same ( original ) rom if possible, since i havent got any problems with it)
2.If i flash different rom, and update my phone afterwards, will i end up with the same pda, phone, csc or?
3.Do i void my warrenty doing this?
Thanks in advance, generally i need help choosing the right rom for me..please guys, help, i am sick of being the only one with locked device in these forums
I flashed my device back to 7004 a couple of days ago.
I got the ROMS from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131891
I think the one you want is the one which corresponds to the VVT CSC.
Thanks for the answer, but as far as i managed to understand, these are a bit old roms - mine's KB..which means 2011 feb, this is the thing i wanted to ask - if i flash old rom and get updatesh through zune will i end with the same firmware like now - KB3
Yes that's what happened to me. I checked before flashing. I think they were all KB3s. I might be wrong. I flashed with the old rom, unlocked then updated via Zune. Once updated to Nodo, the it was Kb3, kb2 and kb3 just like you have above.
thanks for the info again, mate! very helpful! Last question - do you have any problems since you flashed? like 3g or network connection?
I had the ebook crash on me when resuming from lock screen. But that was the first boot after update. After restarting the phone once more, I haven't noticed anything wrong. 3g and wireless seem to work fine. phone and sms goes through. apps work like normal.
