Help with flashing - downgrading from 7382 to 7004 or 7008 - Omnia 7 General

Hello,
I want to dev-unlock my device, but since it's possible only if phone's OS is 7004 or 7008 i need to downgrade. So i have a few questions :
1.My phone's info right now is:
PDA: i8700 XX KB3
Phone: i8700 XX KB2
CSC: i8700 VVT KB3
Does it make any difference which rom i flash? Can somebody, please, tell me which one is the right for me?
(i wanna end with the same ( original ) rom if possible, since i havent got any problems with it)
2.If i flash different rom, and update my phone afterwards, will i end up with the same pda, phone, csc or?
3.Do i void my warrenty doing this?
Thanks in advance, generally i need help choosing the right rom for me..please guys, help, i am sick of being the only one with locked device in these forums

I flashed my device back to 7004 a couple of days ago.
I got the ROMS from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131891
I think the one you want is the one which corresponds to the VVT CSC.

Thanks for the answer, but as far as i managed to understand, these are a bit old roms - mine's KB..which means 2011 feb, this is the thing i wanted to ask - if i flash old rom and get updatesh through zune will i end with the same firmware like now - KB3

Yes that's what happened to me. I checked before flashing. I think they were all KB3s. I might be wrong. I flashed with the old rom, unlocked then updated via Zune. Once updated to Nodo, the it was Kb3, kb2 and kb3 just like you have above.

thanks for the info again, mate! very helpful! Last question - do you have any problems since you flashed? like 3g or network connection?

I had the ebook crash on me when resuming from lock screen. But that was the first boot after update. After restarting the phone once more, I haven't noticed anything wrong. 3g and wireless seem to work fine. phone and sms goes through. apps work like normal.

To flash or not to Flash. Please advise.

Sorry if this is a really n00b question but I figured this would be the best place to ask it.
I live in Australia have recently purchased an HTC HD2.
It is the GSM version (non Telstra) and I am using an Optus 3G GSM SIM.
The current ROM version is 1.48.831.0 (71294) WWE The current Radio Version is 2.05.51.05_2
I want to know if it is safe to install a more up to date ROM on the phone as when I browse the australian website, the only ROM update available is for the telstra version of the phone and when I enter my serial number I am told that my phone is not supported.
I am able to use a different serial number to download a more up to date ROM from one of HTC's international sites but I am scared I will brick the phone or make it not work with my Optus SIM anymore if I install it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi
You can absolutely flash the device with any stock or cooked ROM.
If you prefer to go for a stock ROM, the latest one is WWE 1.66.405.2.
You can download ROMs here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Leo/ROMs
If you go for a cooked ROM then obviously look for the developers page and read up on the ins and outs of his/her ROM.
If this is your first flash, I would recommend having a read of this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
You are also welcome to pop over the Whirlpool forum where you will find several people who have flashed their devices with new ROMs (stock and cooked).
The thread is long and there are several preceding thread; however, read the last few pages and jump on in. There are plenty of folk there happy to offer advice and support from our sunny shores.
By the way, I flashed the non-Telstra device from WWE 1.48 to 1.66 without a problem.
Perfect! Thankyou for the reply!!!
OK so I just finished reading through all the info on flashing and am feeling much more confident now.
Just one more question, what radio version did you install to go with the 1.66 ROM? or didn't you need to upgrade it, if so what version are you running?
EDIT: Depending on what image you use, it would appear that the radio ROM is flashed with the ROM? correct?
Thanks
EDIT2: I just figured out that I can download the official rom from the Hong Kong HTC site. It accepts my SN so I wont need an additional bootloader to install the rom.
The version is 1.72.831.1
The URL is http://www.htc.com/hk-en/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=906
Successfully flashed 1.72.831.1 last night using the standard bootloader.
Took about 6 minutes and no issues at all. Took about 40 minutes to get everything set back up the way I had it before so not too bad.
Straight out of the box the phone seems far more responsive than it did with 1.48. Faster still with the Glyph cache tweak and VSYNC off.
Radio signal seems better and the WiFi seems to be reliable with automatically connecting to my configured netowrks as I move around.
No negative side effects as of yet!

I'm sorry I didn't get back and respond last night; however, it sounds like everything has run smoothly and been a success.
Excellent news!
I find it so satisfying flashing a new ROM. It's kind of like purging the old and starting afresh with something new that suits your needs.
Have fun!

[ROM]RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.28.111.03_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50 _RELEASE

Here new ROM for Mozart
http://www.filefactory.com/file/b48..._1.28.111.03_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50_RELEASE.exe
DO NOT TRY TO FLASH THIS ROM FOR ANY OTHER DEVICE EXCEPT MOZART!
Enjoy!
THNX a LOT!
Hopefully it fixes my problems with sending text messages.
Will I lose my data (mainly my SMSes) if I install this update?
//EDIT -> according to several forums, I will lose my data...
and I haven't found any solution to backup my SMSes - yeah -.-
Is there anything I should regard or be aware of before updating?
//EDIT -> I just tried updating my phone and don't know how. It boots in the bootloader (RGB-test with some data on the device, SPL, the SD card, ...) just fine but the RUU doesn't find it.
I'm trying to flash it from a Windows XP machine - is there anything I have to take care of before I can flash it?
Or is there a real step-by-step manual for total dummies (I've flashed my HTC Diamond several times before without problems and have got no clue, why the PC won't find my Mozart).
The update process cancels with a CONNECTION ERROR [260].
will the hspa work on it from the tmobile usa after flashing this rom???

Is there already a solution?

nice greetings
Do you have the German T-Mobile version?
Mine flashed without any problems (after solving the driver problem...).
I have T-Mobile Austria.
but that this should be the same, right?
Greetings
Well, I'm not exactly sure.
However, if you think about the update failing with a wrong VENDOR ID - I guess it makes a difference.

are there any big noticable changes after flashing the new rom?
or is it just a minor security/stability update?
Be careful when uninstalling TMO apps
ROM is working very good, more fluent than stock version 1.25 - no problems found yet.
Still noticed the same problems with the stock ROM after uninstalling TMO shipped apps. When I uninstall Navigon the BING Map "Search" and "get directions" is gone/does not work anymore. When I remove "mediencenter" and plug in the headphones the phone is neither accepting nor able of making calls. However reflashing solves the problem - but you can't get rid of those TMO apps without losing functionality.

According to some other sites (just google the version number), this rom ships out with new devices. So no, it should not get you blocked, as it's a legit update.
Flashing is fairly easy: Backup everything you can, start you Mozart in Bootloader mode (pressing volume down while powering it on), plug it into your PC via USB, install the drivers if needed (done by installing Active Sync in XP, Windows Vista and newer should automatically find the needed drivers), start the updater and follow the instructions.
There is no official changelog, but several people think that the animations are smoother, the touchscreen reacts faster, ...
Seeing that there is no official changelog and the only thing we can do is assume what could have changed, I think there's no sense in discussing this. Especially since you can find several threads in other forums that discuss the changes in various lengths...
I haven't noticed any new problems after the update, so I guess it's at least as good as the previous version.
But this are just my thoughts

No you can't flash the HTC_Europe version, only the TMO_DE version.
TMO_DE stands for T-mobile Germany
HTC_Europe is the generic software for the non branded devices.
Doesn't make any difference except the useless apps you get from t-mobile.
But after you delete them everything is the same.
And for the record, You don't have to flash your phone at first... Installing new firmware IS flashing. so you just run the RUU and make sure zune is running and phone is running, not in stand-by.
And be sure to backup everything you want to keep, haven't flashed my mozart, but i think you lose all data when you flash it.
Sure someone else knows that.

Thanks for the answer!
I thought that I have to set the mozart in the bootloader mode, in order to flash. When I was telling it "flashing" I meant something like hspl like we had to do on the HD2, befor we could flash custom roms or htc roms on it.
edit: and is there any possibility to go back to: 1.25.2250.5 firmware (now installed on my phone)?
and last question this 1.28 version will not breake my warranty, right? It'S a normal t-mobile rom, isn't it?
Guys, I'm not sure I fully understand everything so far.
I basically have a Telstra (Australian) HTC 7 Mozart. From what I gather, I cannot flash this on my device until it is unbranded, is that correct?
hello to everyone.
I have a htc t-mobile mozart Germany but I live in Venezuela and I can assure you and proven DepNet.com for both 1.25 and 1.28
posted on this page to a friend Football and run to perfection
and also I can tell you that my phone came with 1.25 and the 1.28 istale him but then return to 1.25 and all is well.
and the echo for several times trying to place the Spanish language and if anyone can help I'd appreciate it forever
@ WinUser009:
HSPL was needed because we used to flash cooked (and therefore custom-made) ROMs, which were not signed by HTC or any other company able to sign them. These ROMs are unmodified and signed, which is why you can flash them without flashing any unlocked HSPL first.
Bootloader-mode is just a different mode to boot in - it does not need any changes to your phone!
I don't think that there is a possibility to go back to 1.25.xxx - but honestly why would you want to? But I have to admit that I have not yet tried it...
As to the warranty: that's a complicated matter...
This firmware is not official and my new Mozart (I got a new one after sending it in) still had the 1.25 firmware installed (someone posted that newer phones should ship with the 1.28). So there might be a person detecting that you flashed it yourself, if they keep sending out new phones with 1.25 preinstalled.
However, the phone I turned in had 1.28 flashed and I have not received any complaints when I sent it in for a replacement. So I guess it is up to your shop but it should not pose any problems!
@ameel
You can flash as soon as one of these things happen:
- custom roms are released that don't check for the carrier information
- you unlock your phone (somehow)
- Telstra releases an update
But as of now you can't flash these T-Mobile roms on your Mozart.

Sorry, but I didn't understand your post. What did you try to tell / ask us?
I hope I could help you with some of your questions

help to upgrade to UK orange firmware

I have heard that the uk orange 2.2 firmware is available through kies. I flashed the rom two months ago from orange 2.1 firmware to JPO firmware. Now i want to flash back to orange 2.2 firmware.
The strange thing is that I cannot upgrade through Kies even I flashed to JF1 firmware by Odin (upgrade buttom does not work). My production code: I9000HKDORA.
Then I use Odin to flash the new uk orange 2.2 firmware (I9000BVJP8), i can sucessfully flash but cannot enter the system. it stoped at the first image "I9000'.
Anyone can help me?
Thank you.
I am a complete noob so this is probably wrong but cant you use reg hack ( on this forum somewhere) to spoof your phone firmware on kies?
Tried the orange 2.2 update and really didnt rate it, mainly because it didnt really improve anything from 2.1 so used the reg hack to unbrand and get jpy.
This I do like-give it a try .
Thank you. Why I want to upgrade the official one is that I found there is no phone signal at most time when I flashed other firmwares. Could you tell me what firmware you are using for your orange branded phone? Any signal ?

Need The support of the Community

Hi community,
just switched from Symbian to Android, so I've got to learn a lot.
I am a German living in China. This brought up some problems with my brand new Gal S2/9100. When I try to update it (kies) tells me it is not possible for this firmware. I also can even not register an account at Samsung with the telefon. It seems that this Shop sold me a "branded, modified or cracked " Phone. However, I learnt here I can flash my phone.
As I am in China, most "up load" servers are blocked, I cannot access them.
So I need urgently the help of you guys. Here my DATA:
PDA I9100XWKE7 : CSC I9100 XEU KD1
Build: Gingerbread XWKE7
But but but: I wonder if I could get an European CSC Package with the latest KF2?
thats the data;
I kindly ask the community to give me a chance to download all that stuff through a one time FTP connection from someone's PC. Just use Filezilla FTP server.
I could do it in the night in order not to disturb you. We have 6 hours time shift. So, my morning is your night.
Or any other server to download all the stuff (firmware pack, including ODIN)?
Hope you don't let me down, I hope i can return this effort to the community one day.thanks in advance
Robbie
Would the following Suffice?
XXKF2
This package has: PDA:XXKF2| PHONE: XXKF2| CSC:XEUKD1.
MultiCSC OXXKE2:
Contains the following CSC: AUT, COS, CYO, DBT, DCM, DNF, EUR, FWB, KOR, LUX, NEE, OMN, ORG, ORS, PAN, PLS, SEB, SUN, SWC, TMS, TPH, VDH, VIA, VOM, XEE, XEH, XEO, XEZ, XSK.
Which servers can you access in China? I think you can get Hotfile / Megaupload.
Go thru this thread for more information.
We all get this message when we are up to date like you are. It is also normal that you cannot register a samsung account since samsung hub is not for the UK (you are running. UK firmware)
thanks for the quick answers
since some weeks almost all servers including (hotfile and upload) are blocked.
that's the problem.
So, I learnt I do have a UK firmware, that's ok to me. However, the shop put a lot of Chinese stuff as system apps on to the phone. I cannot uninstall it.
I also can not install any emails except GMAIL ( which by the way works great on the S2) so I have to use K-9 Mail as client the build in widget is buggy and crashing all the time. Also my phone gets quite hot on the backside close to the cam, when I switch it off and on it gets cool quite quickly again. I couldn't figure out what application is causing this.
I talked to a SAMSUNG guy here, he said this bug is fixed in the latest firmware.
Samsung was aware of the "getting hot issue" but does not tell what the reason was.
Summary: I think now, the Chinese screwed up the phone by mixing various stuff from different countries on a UK phone. They told me it was imported, what ever that means in China.
The only solution to me is to put my phone back to the original status quo.
I tried to /su and found out the phone is not routed.
May be they rooted it and put on top of the UK firmware all that Chinese stuff, then unrooted it again. (if this is possible).
Would really be nice, if I could download may be the original firmware package from someone. By the way, I also can only access the Chinese apps android market. This is really horrible. I do speak Chinese and read the basics but I prefer English/German or Spanish software.
Hope this gives you a picture of my situation.
Greetings from SiChuan

If you tell me the files you need, I can host them on a server that's not blocked by the GFOC
If you can see www.villainrom.co.uk, then you can get to the files
yes I can see this page. Seems to be ok.
I will try to find the files in the next 20 minutes and let you know.
If you could do this for me I owe you something........

OK if you show me the files you want, or even describe what you are after, you can download them in a few mins. It's 100Mb/s anyway so it will be fast for me to get them.
firmware pck
so here we are:
as Mr. sileshn above already said: the XXKF2 package with the multi CSC should be ok. I also need the flash software ODIN to flash the phone.
However, if you could find the original package would be nice.
again my data: PDA:I9100 XWKE7 CSC I9100 XEUKD1
at the moment I think KF2 is the latest firmware, isn't it? I understood that the KF4 is a beta and unstable and not officially released.
So any KF2 firmware with CSC for UK or Germany is fine for me.
thanks
rr
PS:
I feel quite nervous as I used to be an experienced Symbian user, but new to Android. I also have no Idea about LINUX so all the technical terms and actions are new to me.

Hi, just for your info: Download worked great, thanks again.
The bad news is that my phone got screwed up.
I couldn't identify why. I followed exactly the rules on how to flash this phone.
After uploading the files to the phone ODIN gave back the message: FAILED, write operation failed.
My phone hung up ( a little picture appears with a phone and a PC when I restart), it can not start/boot any longer. Of course after the "failed" message I waited long long time in order not to interupt any process. However one time I had to stop it. All efforts to flash it again did not work.
I am quite nervous now, hope the shop where I bought it can fix it.
They told me they will try. Hope to report better news tomorrow.

short report
thanks again for the help.
The download worked really great.
The bad news is, that i screwed up my phone.
I followed exactly the routine for flashing with ODIN.
It is not that difficult to understand.
But ODIN uploaded the files to my phone and then stopped during the writing process.
"FAILED" was the message I got.
I waited long long time in order to make sure I do not interrupt any processes.
Then I had to disconnect my phone. After restart it was hanging with a little picture that shows a phone and a pc screen. I tried all I know to get the phone back to life but nothing happened.
So I brought the phone today to the shop where i bought it in China.
I hope they can fix it.
it would be good to figure out what was going wrong. Firstly to learn, secondly to help others to avoid this problem.
I believe that it may have something to do with the fact that they sold me "modified" phone, I mean it was a UK PDA and CSC number but a lot of Chinese stuff in the system. Not installed as normal apps but as system apps.
So they may have changed the partition and modified the firmware.
But I checked before, the phone was not rooted.
That's for your info only.
I thank you again for the prompt help you gave me.
If you have an idea what was wrong pls let me know

That's only a soft brick.
You can fix that by reflashing. You could try flashing via Heimdall, but it's not something irreparable You can get to download mode as usual
I've tried to reflash. no success, same error. However, I hope they fix it for me and If they put on a standard firmware with standard CSC, I should be able to flash in the future.
I did this with my N8 and my N900 many times and never something strange happened.
So, I guess it is an experience for me.
As I have to learn I wonder, if there is a hacker bible or flashing bible for android out there?
Did you learn all by doing or did you have some literature?
More tomorrow when I got back my phone.

hello all,
so i am slightly annoyed, that theres no mango yet, i am hoping ypu people can help me, get rid of this horrible t-mob germany firmware.
on: 7.0.7392.0
Bootloader 5.2.1.4
unlocked (three uk sim atm) (i am in uk)
i just want mango, i dont care how i get it----im pretty pc knowledgeable, so just fire it at me.
It's been mentioned a few times already, but the Mango update may take a while to reach all devices.
There's a list of downloadable firmwares in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131891
And there's a guide somewhere on the site on how to flash your device. I highly suggest the JL3 firmware, as that's the one I used to debrand my T-Mobile Germany Omnia 7. After that, it's just a matter of updating it back to NoDo and then waiting for Mango to hit your device. If it doesn't come through immediately, you can always force the update (again, there's a guide around here somewhere).
Word of warning, flashing that firmware will wipe everything on your phone. Stuff that's stored in the cloud is easily sorted, but any music, videos, etc. will disappear.
hey thanks!! i am about to start sticking that rom on, the only thing i am worried about are apps, but i assume they will just sort themselves out and re-install?
ok, flashed that rom, and cant update past 7008, is there a nodo three rom available?
edit --- got it to install nodo using trick (internt pull out)
Omnia 7 mango
I am in the same boat with you. I could not update from Nodo with WIFI trick. At last, I downloaded KH2 firmware from Samsung mobile and flashed my phone. My Omnia now is the running mango fantastically!
Try it for yourself. You will not be regret.
FYI.

I got a similar phone x-display in the UK......had a problem with the battery so took it to carphone warehouse......they wiped the original t-mobile logos and german text and Mango updated straight away as soon as I got it back......so if you can find a reason for a quick repair.....
