Hi guys, I'm new to the forum so please forgive me for any mistakes. I searched the forum but I could not find any related topic so I decided to post a new thread. Anyways, my tytn is new (2 weeks old) and sometimes hangs when going to stand by mode. I tried to dissable the "turn off devise if not used for.." option and turn it off (stand by) manualy by sigle pressing the power button. But guess what nothing happented!! I could not turn it on and I had to do a reset again. It is so annoying, I am missing calls, sms etc because my device hangs and stays off! Anyone experiencing the same problem? Is because the ROM version? (My ROM version is 1.18.255.3). How can I fix this problem? Thnx
I have occasionally experienced this problem and have tracked it down as a fault that only occurs when I have the wifi connection activated. I keep the wifi off unless in use the problem disapears. Hope this helps
wifi is off at all times. Actually I've never used wifi with tytn
Are you running Today plugins from memory card? One of the reasons Tytn hanging is related to that. Put these plugins into main memory until a future ROM is correcting this problem. Good luck!
I have also had this problem. Activesync was the culprit. I make sure I always close AS after syncing instead of minimising. In addition I delete the event that starts activesync (repllog.exe) in my notification queue. No freezes while on standby for almost a week now
I made a thread about it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=278968
thx guys! I'll try and reply back
Seems to me cdyat was right. Thanks for the tip!
Hi all,
Just installed the 3.0.1 update from the iNav site. I noticed that yes it does fix the slow voice issue. Very nice.
But on my 8525 it is extremely slow to start up at time. A soft reset and it opens fine. But after a few hours of use on PPC it takes from 1 1/2 to 2 minutes to open. When I launch it I get the spinning colored wheel and then nothing for well over a minute, then the agreement screen pops up...
Its installed on the internal memory as I thought it was my SD card. Maybe it still it my SD card and its having a hard time reading the map file??? I don't know.
Just looking to see if anyone else is having issues or not.
Thanks!

i have the same issue also.. but its only the program you have loaded on your device as i am sure the map is possibly to large to fit on the phone.. the program itself is loaded on my device, but the map is on my card.. mine doesnt take as long to load, but takes longer than it did on my wizard.. also the voice directions are slow, like i was traveling at 70mph the other day coming up to a turn (i already knew where i was going but testing different BT loads on my device) and it took 3 miles to tell me to turn
Thanks for the reply. Check your version the lastest was posted to fix the slow voice issue when gprs is connected. I have only tested it a bit but the voice flowed quick.
I have not noticed if its saying the prompts too late usually it will alert at like 2mi 1mi then several feet before.
I think my issue is a memory issue. It seems like there is not enough memory for the program. When I am having issues with it pie will crash on pages. So a soft reset resets everything. Wish I could find what the real issue is.
You are correct I have the program on the device and the maps on the card.
you know, your right, the 2 or 3 times i tried to load it up i didnt think i hit the icon right, hit it a 2nd time and it would come up right away, this time i hit it once and it took every bit of 2 minutes to come up... and i do have 3.0 not 3.0.1... lets just say im not able to acquire the patch from the website, nor have i found it anywhere else yet.....
3.0 will open faster if you disconnect GPRS (edge, 3g, whatever) first. However if it connects again you will have the slow voice issue. I have not had time to install 3.01 yet, so I can't confirm that it is fixed. I will also be sending you a PM.

I had the sane issue with version 2. something. I downlooaded the patch for it and have had no issue maybe they will release a another patch soon.

i can confirm faster load if you drop your data connection, but havent traveled yet to see of 3.0.1 fixes the slow voice
I ran a demo and the voice seams fine. It starts faster then 3.0 if you leave the connection active, but both start fast when disconnected.

Thanks much for the replys. I can confer if you drop your data connection it will start up much faster.
The issue I saw was with the data connection I have to launch the program 20+ times and then it seems to pick up.
I believe that the program as part of that voice fix is trying to knock off the data connection and the 8525 is fighting it preventing the launch. Then after XX times it lets iGuidance start up...
But again thanks so much, dropping the data connection is no big deal..

actually you dont have to try to start x number of times.. try this, hit your icon once and wait a few minutes, i bet it will come up... for some reason with the data connection it takes 2-3 minutes, it could take you 2-3 minutes to hit it 20+ times for it to come up... its just an issue with slow launch..
does anyone have a registered version that they could report this issue to the manufacturer?
lol
I have been bugging them for the release for weeks. I'll let em know! They seem to be having issues with our devoces. They said that the final release would be 12/06. So maybe they are working on it who knows.
Yeah it most likely take me 2 mins to hit it 20 times!
Hi all,
Does anyone where I can download 3.0.1 patch?
I am using 3.0 with all the above issues.
Thanks a lot.

Fix
The problem does seem to be an active internet connection. What I've done is used mortscript to solve this and also the annoying backlight off problem wich Inav seems think is not big deal. All you need to do is first install mortscript with is included in the zip or download if from the website. Put Keep Alive and the script file in the Iguidance directory. Everyithing should work in case you installed iguidance to the memory card or changed directorys in wich you will have to edit the script and point to the correct location. I've also made a shortcut to make it seem a sort of original feel. Just place the shortcut in your windows\start menu\programs location. The only problem is this new version of mortscript does not allow the same script to run over again, so if you exit the program you can't use the attached shortcut to run it again. If anyone has a solution to this let us know.
cheers

i have a simple solution, just hold down the red phone key(end call) for about 5 seconds and the data connection will disconnect, then open iguidance

I like this idea better than holding th end call button. In fact I did the very same thing. You see with this you can end the data connection, start iguidance, change the back lighting (if you want) and reconnect the data connection and anything else you like to change like volume and what not all with one click. Way to share with others benfica88. Makes me feel kinda bad that I didn't post mine for everyone. I guess I forget sometimes that not everyone knows what is available out there.

No probs. Do you by any chance know how to run multiple instances of the same script?
well when hold down the end button to end the data connection it will start back up within a minute or so due to push mail or whatnot.. and changing the backlight wasnt much of an issue for me cause the only time i use this is in my car and when im in my car i have plugged into a car charger.. so the end button solves my problem
on another note, PPC Profiles will do a similiar thing, you can set up profiles on your phone so with the simple tick of a button you can turn on BT, keep the backlight on, change the audio, etc.. the only thing it dont do is kill the data connection... well except turning on BT will do that... i know there are 2 different versions of this program, the author is a loyal windows mobile like the rest of us and created a free version for owners, he also has a version you can buy.. if you guys are interested i know i have the free version around here somewhere..
I am having the same issue with my treo 750, except ending the internet connection does not help. Is there anyother options? My GPS software is useless right now, it wont start up at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it will start once, but than after that it will not open at all, even after soft reset
Ok I just soft reset and it does work after I end the internet connection. Man this is a pian though! Is inavcorp aware of this issue at all?
I just got a 8525 and ran into the slow loading problem with iNAV. I am running 3.01 and it does take 1 to 2 minutes for the app to load. If you do press the end call button for 5 seconds before you load iNav it loads in 10-15 seconds. It has to be a flaw in the app.

Hi all. I am new to the forums (although have been lurking some weeks) so a big hello to everyone.
I have a few issues with my hermes/tytn (a T-Mobile Vario II). A bit of background: I have installed and upgraded latest radio, bootloader, and LVSW to the device. It has a 2gig SanDisk MicroSD.
After my fifth soft reset today, I feel it is time to ask a few questions
1. My device keeps crashing. When I load contacts, slide the keyboard out, use internet explorer... pretty much anything. It seems intermittant so is hard to pin point. Is this what having the latest software entails? or is there something seriously wrong somewhere? My initial thought was that it must be something i've installed running in the background. All I had was spb weather and spb GPRS monitor. I have uninstalled both to no avail.
2. LVWS doesn't come with a task manager. I understand that this was due to problems with the default/MS one. That's fine, no problems. But after I open 5 or 6 programs -- bearing in mind my device seems already prone to crashing, it really bugs me that they are still open even though I have pressed the 'X'. Does everyone just deal with this? Am I the only person that wants their software to close when it's told? (i have tried iLauncher, that has working 'Close' buttons, but I dont like it).
3.I was just talking on the phone over wm6's built in voip client and the damn thing put itself in sleep mode. This killed the conversation. I press the power to get the phone back to life and it lights up but is frozen. You might say this is because the voip is a new feature, but i'm pretty sure it has happened on a regular voice call. Any ideas?
4.Is there anything similar to windows' Wireless Zero Config? I want to be able to walk around a town and be notified when an open AP is found. I would also like to be asked if I want to connect to it. Am I asking too much?
If there's nothing available, is there a market or a need for this? I am a programmer for a living so could probably create something...
5.My alarm does not go off. I presume this is because the damn thing puts itself in sleep mode. Any solutions bar turning off sleep?
6.I used to have a bunch of little squares/icons of recently used programs on the top of the start menu. These appear in horzontal mode (keyboard slid out) but not vertical. They used to appear for both modes.
OK. So there's my list of annoyances. Any solutions would be GREATLY appreciated. I am a first time PDA owner and I *think* I am converted. When this device is working it's great, i love it.
Many thanks,
AP

First of all, you guys doing the development for our devices are simply amazing. By improving the usability of our pda phones you are actually significantly improving the quality of day to day life (at least for me personally). It's a big deal, so thank you for all your work.
I don't post very often, but I lurk every day and generally have no issues to post about, but now one has come about that I need some help with.
_________
So I just began using Chainfire's WMWifiRouter yesterday for the first time, and it works perfectly for me. To be able to wirelessly tether multiple laptops is an unbelievably useful and cool capability. One of the features built in which is a very welcome one is also causing me a problem.
As you all know (if you've used the program) it is set up to keep the wifi active if you hit the power button and put the device in standby.
My issue is that it seems that the change it makes to keep the wifi active in standby doesn't revert to the default setting when the program is closed. So when I'm not using the program and I am connected to a wifi network in my house, and I press the power button, the battery is still draining very fast. Normally I can keep it in standby all day just waiting for calls to come in to wake it up and the battery will barely go down. But today I put it in standby and try to turn it on a couple hours later and it's completely dead.
It is just my assumption that the problem is caused by what I described because using this program is the only new thing I've begun doing since yesterday before the problem existed. Soft reset doesn't change anything, and the "crash cleanup" option doesn't help.
Can anyone confirm that I am correct in my assumption of the cause of the problem? Or any other ideas of what could be causing it? Just to be clear, I'm using a version that came with my rom (Colonel's 12-28-07 custom rom for the sprint mogul) and it is an older verion, v.081. I would try the newest version, but I couldn't find any details on the website about how much it costs once the trial is over.
Thanks a lot if anyone can help, I'd appreciate any bits of insight even if you're not completely sure.
THANK YOU!
So, no one has any thoughts on this?
It is becoming quite annoying to have to turn off the wifi in the comm manager every time I put the phone into standby just so it's not dead in an hour and a half.
Also, if I leave the wifi on and hit the power button, when I turn it back on the symbol shows the wifi connection still active but when trying to stream a radio station or open a browser it won't connect, and I have to turn off and back on the wifi to get a new working connection.
I'd just like to know if any of the other thousands of wmwifirouter users have the same experience, or just haven't noticed it or what.
Thanks.
Mogulus: Please try my Wifi Profiles -option Wifi Power->Normal Mode in menu.
BINGO!!!
Your program absolutely did the trick, thank you so much.
The only other suggestion I got was to flip off the wifi switch before entering standby and flipping it back on when returning from standby. Well that is simple enough but when you're picking the thing up every few minutes to check a random thing that pops in your head, that extra step gets so annoying.
Again, thanks a lot, you can expect a donation from me.
Thank you!!

You are welcome

Hello, I got my new device on the 3rd Jan so it's still relatively new and vanilla. I have had a look here through FAQs and searched the X1 forum to no avail. I hope these are not too difficult to answer, many thanks for any advice
1. Freezing:
When I make a call the touch screen no longer takes touch inputs, it does display the call time etc. I have to end the call with the soft button then the screen comes back to life
Also, when I run Windows Media Player and start playing a track the same behaviour occurs and I timed a 2 minute delay before I could use the screen to do anything.
I am not running anything in the background when this happens
All I have installed on top of the new phone (<1 week old) is a torchbutton tool and a battery monitor (although his happened way before the battery monitor was installed)
2. Auto disconnect from 3G etc:
When I set my phone to auto check email for me I didn't realise it would leave the 3G connection running. I can't find anywhere to set this and have it shut down the connection when done. I am not worried about cost (much) but I do want to preserve battery lif.
3. GPS way off:
everytime I try the Vodafone tracker or google maps it never pinpoints my location accurately. I don't want this directing me into a river or car crushers at a scrap yard...
Any ideas?
I don't know about the other two questions but as for number 1) I'd say it's a fault with your device as i haven't heard of the problem before and i have no such issue with my Xperia. Maybe someone can help you...
Question 2
It seems by default you have to disconnect in Comm Manager.
Actually it's great it does not disconnect after every action, it would be hell to check 3 or 4 email accounts and connect each time (I had it on my other smartphone...)
OK I can live with the disconnecting thing, I'll just have to keep an eye on it and the battery usage.
I found something interesting with the media player freezing issue though, if I use the button on the side to adjust volume the screen become available in the volume slider and then the problem goes away, rather random but again - livable if this fix works every time (which it doesn't) I have noticed it seems to be the same tracks that cause this - is it the file size?
Still stumped for the screen freeze during calls though - fix that and I will sing your praises for at least a week and a half
OK The device got replaced... then broke again - ran out of power then wouldn't take a charge
Came back from repair (they wouldn't replace after the 14 days grrr damn vodafone)
Now it has new software on it (spb mobile shell and some random games)
I setup the stuff I like such as the Soft Buttons set to Rotate screen and bring up the Today screen
Now when on the X panel or any of the panels and Opera the Today button refuses to work
It is fine in IE or File Explorer
I am so sick of this damn thing getting so close to being useable and then dropping out on me
Any ideas before I have to go back to the shop and they send it away AGAIN?
