Alright well randomly when i would go to the photo album i could scroll through a few photos, then "We're Sorry..." A problem has occured with Manila.exe
I did some research and people that tried formating their SD Card, got it to work again. Well since it worked for them i decided to try it...not knowing its just going to delete everything from my SD Card...So I deleted everything from my SD Card.. now what? I take it i should do a factory reset? Will that put all the default stuff back on the SD Card, like Transformers 1 & 2?
At the moment i writing all my contacts down...but can someone please help me figure this out? I just wanna go to bed cause i got work in the morning..
The HTC HD2 is such a hassle, theres always something wrong with it.
The movies are gone. Sorry. Do a backup or copy sdcard contents to your desktop next time.
Nope. You should always back up your content that is on your SD card before you format. Its gone for good.
Well **** my lifeee. Ok would T-Mobile be able to fix this? Cause this is just getting too confusing. I hate this phonneee...also my phone isnt reading my SD Card.

Do you have it connected to the PC in "disk drive" mode? If so, your phone won't see your SD card while it's connected that way, only while it's connected via activesync.
Hmm, well yes it was lol. Is there a site or some source i can just download the default SD Card files from?

Not the movies. The games etc can be found in the sticky at the top of this section titled "Links to cabs, ROMS, how to's, & Jaime's "New to WinMo & Absolute newbie tweak guide"...in there are links with all the other stock apps from the HD2 (and a bunch of other stuff you should probably check out).
You might be able to go to a T-Mo store and see if they will swap out your sdcard with one from a return unit.
Don't give up on your hd2, it is a great phone. Everyday I find something new about my phone that makes me happy I went with it. WinMo is complicated, but once you get it set up, it runs really well.
Well im kinda stuck with this phone for 2 years. Not much I can do. So far it pisses me off alot, like when i receive a text, my phone freezes for about like 15 seconds while it loads to my phone. That and the fact its slow and it just fails as an OS.

You really need to read that new-to-winmo guide in the thread I mentioned above. In fact, here's the direct link for you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688928
Then go back and read everything else in that thread I pointed you to...with a little care, WM can be a wonderful OS...I wouldn't trade it for any other, personally. There's solutions for every one of the issues you've mentioned, if you'll just take the time to read and learn here at xda.
I believe there is s fix for the text lag, but I don't know where it is. I must be lucky because I don't have the text or music tab lags. I have around 500 texts with about 350 from one person and I get very little lag loading messages and I have 8 plus gb of music and the sense music player works great.
Try Cookies Home Tab or maybe one of the custom roms.
Okay well I still cant view my photos without "Manila.exe" to crash. Should I just restore my phone, or is there a fix.

Yes if it's still doing that after the card reformat, a hard-reset might be the best shot at clearing it up. Are these pics you've taken with the camera, or ones you copied to your SD card? If it's the latter, how many pics do you have on there?
Also, just fyi, you don't have to write your contacts down to save them...if you just run the myphone app that's already on your phone, it will back them up along with your text messages, and allow you to restore them to the phone after a hard-reset or a ROM flash.
Well i saved a bunch of pictures i got off google on too my phone, and thats when it started having the error. Um where is the myphone app located?
You can copy all your contacts to your sim card instead of writing them down...just saying to save you some time.

or use mobile back up.
But make sure your MicroSD isn't corrupt. Try a different MicroSD and see if it works. It might be the card reader in the phone.
Might be able to get a warranty replacement if that is the case.
Im just going to use Microsoft My Phone its easier, and i dont have to click one by one just to add contacts to my sim card. Um im sure my SD card is fine, it just has nothing on it lol. Im going to run the the T-Mobile store tomorrow and see if then can exchange the SD card for one with all the default stuff on it.
Alright well i backed up everything i needed on Microsoft My Phone. Now im just going to do the hard reset.

Once you've done that, just run the myphone app again...it will have you sign in, then it will update the app, and then it will download the contacts and messages etc back down to your phone.
Something went horribly amiss while trying to transfer the movie from the preinstalled 2 gig to my 8 gig memory card. Although I was able to play the movie one time on my vibrant, the Avatar icon now says "File Not Found" when clicked. I cleared the 2 gig sd card before giving it away so now I'm left without a copy. Is there anyway I could procure a copy from a forum member or is the issue phone related?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you moved avatar.dcf you're fine. The icon is set for a specific location which would be where it was on the SD card before and now that it's not, the shortcut icon doesn't work. I moved my copy of Avatar to the internal SD card with EStrongs File Manager (Copy not cut).
Well I click on the folder named Movie on my SD card, but it is no longer there. I'm not sure what I should do? Could Samsung give me another copy or am I just out of luck?
In worst case senario..you can reflash the phone with the rom dump thats in the Android Development section here...

Will that require root? I've rooted my old MyTouch so I'm not worried about that, but I don't think I'm quite ready to root this phone.
The rom dump that was posted by Wes doesn't include Avatar.
i was actually wondering where Avatar went, but thanks to this thread I know that's because it is on the SD card and not internal storage.
Funny, I accidentally deleted my copy of avatar as well. One of the first things I did was take a few test videos, to get a feel for the quality, and when I was going through removing them I clicked the wrong thing and avatar was gone.
No big deal though, I didn't really want to watch it for the fourth time anyway.
I accidentally deleted Avatar through camcorder app as well. There is no file info given and just a plain "broken" icon, so I deleted it. No warning from the OS either. Lame. T-mobile store would not replace the phone without a restocking fee (manager was a nightmare). I called Samsung and was told that since the movie is installed after-market on the external SD, there is nothing they can do to replace the file. So it is all on TMO to help anyone with this issue. TMO customer care does not have a direct link to a download and will not send a replacement SD. Finally I got the rep at the store to agree to swap my SD with the next Vibrant return that comes in. That's good enough for me. Avatar is waaaay to easy to inadvertently delete from the phone without warning. Be careful.
I HAD the same problem. I put the movie on a 16GB SDHD and the link broke, as in "File Not Found" The folder I put it in I called 'Movies' and it should have been 'Movie'. Once I took the s off of the folder name the link worked again.

Do you have AIM? PM me your AIM and I can send the file to you directly. It might take a while, but hey...at least you'll get it.
Funny how out of all the responses, no one even offered a solution.

The solution you offered Violates the DRM
He took the proper steps, TMO should have been able to help him
So is there no way to get it back if it was accidentally deleted? I contacted both Tmobile and Samsung and neither provided me any help. I'd really like the movie if someone could assist!

You could try to go a T-mobile store and see if they have any in returns (which might be hard I haven't had any returned yet) and see if they can swap out the 2gig card for you.
The problem being that each copy of the file is licensed to an individual phone - even if you get another copy, it may not play.

I actually JUST left the store minutes ago...(bought a gel case...$16.99, lol)
He actually said they haven't had ANY returns, and they've sold about 70 phones which he was SURPRISED at...he said it's unlike any other phone he's sold(and that it's made him a few dollars this month.)
Any other options? or do I just wait for a return?
i accidentally deleted avatar too. but thankfully the tmo store by my job had a return. they swaped out the sd cards and it works. you may have to wait awhile for a return but atleast you'll get it back. the only other way i can think of is if you have the dvd you could rip the movie and put it on your phone.

OK, well if this is true, I stand corrected: I guess the DRM isn't tied to an individual device.
You know what's funny? I deleted it on purpose. Don't get your panties in a bunch it's just a movie.

Same issue, movie just got deleted. This wan't an issue of the file being moved, it just vanished. Took it to local Tmobile store where they swapped my Vibrant with a new one. Employee said this has been happening with some frequency, files and apps just get deleted with no explaination. Happy with the new phone, GPS works 100x's better the previous one.
i'm probably going to exchange my epic tomorrow for a different one. I know I'll have to reroot, but is there anyway to backup everything that is on there and just restore it?
I have titanium backup, but not sure if that will do it, I think I can just copy the folder onto my computer with all the apps backed up and then copy it back to the new phone?
or is there an easier way?

really not worth going through that trouble when i'm exchanging the phone. other ways that will get the job done?

Thats the easiest way, titanium. I use the same backup between my nexus, hd2 and epic 4g. I just dont restore system data.
Copy your titanium backup folder to your computer and just copy it back to your new phone.

If you want restore to what you have now, no there is no other way.
titanium it will be then, that should be easy enough, especially if I just keep the sd card.
anything think it will be a problem to exchange if the phone is rooted? i'd like to just exchange tonight and really don't have the time to start figuring out how to unroot it. exchanging at rat shack if that makes any difference.

I returned about 4 rooted Palm Pre's to Sprint without a problem, FWIW.
Can one backup work across multiple phones? For example, if I do a full Titanium backup on my Epic, then take the SD card, put it into my Evo, and restore....will that work?
so back to this. I used titanium after exchanging my phone and it went okay except I lost my call history and text messages. is that normal for titanium? surely with people switching roms 5 times a day, there has to be a simple way to do this.
After unsuccefull rooting I can't restore my NST. In partition table I look only 1 - 240MB. "AlfaFormatter" and "n2t-recovery" can't help. May be anyone know more methods?
Thank you
Sounds like you didn't use "Noogie" before you backed up. "Noogie" reveals all the partitions of your Nook, so you can back all of it up. If you back up without using "Noggie," you will only backup the ~250mb of data that are, by default, on the partition titled "NOOK."
Please post again if this explanation was not clear.

Yep, this is a common mistake.
The worst part is that restoring a invalid backup image like that, also overwrites your /rom partition and the rom partition backup zip that resides on partition 3
If this is what happened, then you're out of luck, there's no method that can recover the device.
Ouch! I also, almost, did this, but it seemed too strange to me that the backup should be so small.
On this note--can an admin start to make a few, forum, stickies? I'm surprised that there aren't any already. It would be good for old hands and n00bs alike to have a few, key, threads posted and pinned to the top.
My 2 cents.

So, question:
I just bought a refurb. Started it up and I only have 240MB space so I came here looking for help. Can I assume from this that I should just not even bother with it and should try to get my money back?
Not happy.

That's normal for it to be like that. B&N only gives you a (relatively) small amount of space for side loaded content. I think there's some way to give yourself some more space, but I don't know. Either way, it doesn't affect the rooting process.

Yeah, I know, but thanks. The unit has a lot of issues. I can't successfully get it working. The WiFi won't work either, doesn't have MAC address. I won't call it a brick, but how it got to me as a "factory certified" refurb in this state is beyond me and not worth the trouble. I already got it swapped for a new unit.
Hello all.....I am trying to recover deleted text messages, pic/vid messages on my stock Samsung Galaxy S5, G-900A, running android 5.0 (lollipop). I have tried to utilize a few different android data recovery systems but all have failed in locating any of the deleted messages---likely because root access is required? I have looked everywhere and am under the impression that this particular phone still cannot be rooted due to the AT&T locked boot loader. I also understand that these types of deleted msg files can be overwritten with extend use after initial deletion, however, I am only concerned with messages to and from one particular person, and there hasn't been much use on the phone since they were deleted anyway. This was one of my company phones used by an employee and it is important that I recover these messages. In my conversations with the AT&T Legal Department I was informed that even with court ordered subpoena they do not have the actual messages to provide because they are "deleted from their servers within a few days", but they were able to provide me with the actual data/message/call logs---which doesn't really help me with the issue. I know that there has to be some way or method to locate and recover these messages-----PLEASE HELP------Thank you in advance.
Additionally, I would like to add that I am not at all concerned with any future functionability of this phone, not sure if that even matters---just thought maybe if there are any important apps/programs/functions were modified or deleted to gain access to these messages I am absolutely willing.
Also, is there any way to copy or save the phones hard drive to my computer and access these messages/files through another function on my laptop????
It's unlikely you can recover them, one thing you can try is imaging the phone as you mentioned though, I only know how you could do it in linux though so I'm not sure how much use that will be to you.

Thank you very much.....Im not exactly sure what protocol is on this but I'm wondering if I could hire you or anyone else who might be interested to scan and locate these messages for me? Seems you might have less luck than I thought :/ this is what I could find about finding the messages https://cmanios.wordpress.com/2013/10/29/read-sms-directly-from-sqlite-database-in-android/ to get deleted ones though you'd have to recover the old db, which would be hard to do in and of itself with flash memory, and you'd be lucky to get anything out of what would likely be a partial database file, and that would be hard to read. On top of that, to get an image of anything, even unrooted user readable partitions(internal sd card) you need root, because the command can only be run from the phone it seems, since the phone is presently on 5.0 it's not possible to root it, so your chances are slim to none since no data recovery tool app on the phone would go to the location of the message db file, even if it did it would need root, and even then, to image the phone as far as I can tell also requires root. The only thing I can think of is removing the internal sd card, the ifixit teardown covers this kind of, the card isn't a standard microsd, so finding a way to mount it would be trivial(possibly re-soldering it to a usb?) , if you managed that though, then you might have a chance at attempting data recovery which as I mentioned earlier is already going to be 50/50. As for someone who you could pay for help with this, I can't think of any place, and I also would be of no help unfortunately, there may be someone on the forums or around town who will do it on their own behalf, as with before though I don't know anyone who could help with it though. All this said, it's all speculation for the most part, so I would wait for a second opinion by someone else before taking any action.

I sure do appreciate all of your help and consideration......i sure wish there was some other/easier way to accomplish this...however, i have been able to put the micro-sd card into a larger converter card thing and view on my macbook pro---although there are many many empty folders when i try to access them. Is there a particular file reader that i could download on laptop that would show any invisible files and allow me to view them? Sorry for the amateur questions....thanks again for your help.

The microsd card from the phone does not have any text messages as far as I know, won't help to look at that, you need the internal one used by the phone which is a soldered to the board.

In fact , the lost Samsung can be recovered back depends on whether the messages is completely deleted from Samsung ,you can restore deleted messages from Samsung from Samsung SD card ,or Samsung Memory card ,In addition, the program is also apply to almost all Android devices, including HTC, LG, Sony, Motolora, Google and so on. Hope this can help.
