Hi everyone,
I was wondering if somebody here would be able to shed some light on a little problem that I'm having with my Neotouch.
I've had it for about 4 months, without any problems, however recently I discovered that during a text message, the phone would become unresponsive. Sometimes, I actually compete the text message and yet the phone fails to send the text message (text remains in the outbox folder).
I've softrested the device, no luck, and even performed a hard reset. After hard resetting the device, I did restore the backup image of the phone that I had though using spb backup. (problem here?)
Does anyone know whats going on with the phone?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
A search has only shown one other person with this issue and then there seemed to be no resolution :-(
My XDA-II has stopped receiving text messages. I tested the sim in another phone and txts came through fine.
Also on my XDA I can send txts.
One thing, my smsreceiver.exe is running.
Does anyone have perhaps some things I can check to see why I'm not receiving txts please? I'd rather NOT hard reset.
Thanks in advance
Have you been using Sprite backup.?
Exactly the same thing happend to me AFTER I performed a hard reset and restored all the stuff using Sprite backup. What happened was that when someone sent me an sms, the screen on my mda ii would come on-it means that it definitely received something, but would not make any sound and I wasn't able to find that sms anywhere. I really couldn't resolve this problem so had to perform another hard reset and put all my programs back manually  Very nasty experience, indeed
yeah I've got sprite backup and have done a restore, have just confirmed this over at tekgurus too.
Gah! I hate computers
Been told its a recognised issue and should be fixed.... when tho? dont know.
Thanks for the prompt reply guys, I hope my aptley named subject will lead other lost souls to the answers
If you do a restore without the inbox it may restore your ability to receive sms.
Sprite has a beta version of their software available upon request that fixes this problem.
Yes, there is a beta but many people that have used it have experienced other serious side effects. I think the bottom line at the moment is that there is no completely working version of Sprite Backup for the Xda II until they release the next version.
I've had this problem occur a few times now, and in both circumstances, it's resulted in the loss of data, either composed TXT messages or e-mails (very, VERY annoying) So hopefully someone knows what maybe causing this:
The first time it happened, i was composing an e-mail (hotmail), and 1/2 way through composing the email, the screen went brighter (as if it was charging!), i ignored that, thinking i was just imagining it, then when i came to send the e-mail, every time i pressed send (either via the softkey, or by using the screen) it just did nothing... So i decided to save the email in the drafts folder, and to reload 'messaging' and trying again.
When i went back to the today, screen, the fonts had turned white, and everytime i tried to load ANY app, it came up with popups, telling me that the program was unsigned :/ Also, it was acting as if the shift button was pressed, because if i tried to select ONE email/txt, to open it, it just selected a whole bunch instead, and refused to open them!
After a soft reset, i could use the device as normal, but ANNOYINGLY, the saved e-mail in the drafs folder, had magically disappeared.... REALLY, REALLY ANNOYING!
The same thing happened, when i was composing a TXT message as well... refuses to send, then goes weird.. reboot........ all gone!
I don't have any non-standard software installed, and i remember encountering this problem on my previous MDA Pro.......
I'd be VERY grateful if someone could post any theorys as to what the hell is doing this.... i thought it might be a low-memory issue, but i've checked, and it all seems fine.
Thanks in advance (sorry for the length of this post!)
My specs:
(Latest T-Mobile ROM)
ROM: 1.20.32 WWE
Eadio: 1.06.00
extROM: 1.20.120 WWE
*bump*
Anyone else had a similar problem?
Im noticing that when the backlight goes to full brightness, thats the first sign of impending doom!
Really annoying me now!
Never had that. Try hardreset, not install anything, test it a lot and if it still happens, return your unit.
I hear that the text messages don't get stored on the phone IF the phone is reset using soft reset (or when crashes and restarted using soft reset).
Is there any workaround?
Can text messages be saved to memory card whenever they are recieved (like the option on a Symbian Smartphone to save the texts to Storage Card)?
Is this a HTC TyTN Firmware issue? OR a Global Windows Mobile Problem?
Cheers
G.
it depends how you reset - if you softreset using your stylus they indeed do not get stored. If you softreset using the off/on button (basically turning the phone off and then back on) they do get stored!
Thanks for the prompt reply
Is this just the way that the Windows Mobile OS Works ??
Or is it just a HTC TyTN issue ?
it was the same with the wizard so I assume it's the way WM works!
Interesting, on a side note.... does this happen in Windows Mobile OS Smartphone aswell ??
Does this refer to read or unread messages ?
On my v1605, I removed the battery this morning to try and loosen the screen to fix the alignment issues, and when I plugged the battery back in and switched the phone on, all my read text messages where still there.
I guess, by chance, your messages were stored to the memory correctly.
If you close the messaging application when your done, like with the task manager or something, does this store the messages correctly Regardless of crashing/soft reset.
I think the problem occurs only with unread messages. Once they are read they remain in the application regardless of resets (with the exception of a hard reset ).
I think even if you open the messages application without reading the message it might be saved im not sure though.
Seems odd, I hope there is more speculation about this, so we all have a good understanding how this works.
Hi.
I recently did a hard reset on my Qtek 9100.. After that, when I receive SMS from various persons (that are in my "Contacts"), the notification on the Today screen says "Unnamed" instead of the name of that contact.
If I open Messaging and read the SMS it presents the name correctly.
Does anyone have an idea to a solution. I don't want to do yet another hard reset, though it probably could be solved that way. I would like to know why and get it to work. It's just a dam*ed computer!
TIA
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so move the topic if necessary.
A few weeks back I bought an X1(Branded Dutch T-Mobile Version) and I've been having problems with the receiving of SMS'. My Today screen indicates there are new messages, eg. SMS \ MMS: 1 unread. But when I check my messages there's nothing there. I tried to see if it may be a false positive, by having a friend send me a text message, but the number did increase, and the message box was still empty. I tried reseting the rom, which obviously killed the messages, but new messages are still not getting through.
Anybody else experiencing the same problem? Anybody know what is going on? How can I recover the (invisible) messags?
Thanks a bunch
that's weird. uh, really weird. it's either YOU have a bad rom/phone software so better have it checked OR your not looking in your SMS/MMS inbox but your outlook inbox instead.

i had the same prob, someone sent me a text and the phone froze, when i turned it on had that message. the only way i found to get rid of it was to delete the message coversation with the person.
i had the same problem, only a hard reset solves the problem. after the hardreset everythink worked fine. some other people at the german xperia board got the same problem.
I tried to hard-reset to no avail. Deleting previous conversations doesn't help. Even SMS' from unknown contacts stay hidden. When I try to export my messages using PIM Backup 2.8 It shows that I have 2 'Text Messages' folders in the export root. One with the hidden(unread) messages. And one with the visible ones. When I exported the messages and reimported them, they stayed hidden. When I wrote a program to parse the PIM Backup exported file. I could see that the hidden messages get properly exported.
Any ideas?
Hearing that the German based roms have troubles too, could it be a reg setting that is wrong, something with localization? I really hate that I have a Dutch rom.
i had this problem i simply hard reset it and it was gone...if this didnt work then try reflashing the orignal rom
I just ran into the same issue.
Funny is that I did hard reset on not flashed orginall Dutch T-mobile X1 which was working good. Well now it is not :/
Tip for others looking for a quick workaround: use uiggmo light panell to read them. The only way I found so far.
I am flashing mine today. (Before I will hand it over due to case issue).
