Will have video and article up later. Important notes.
Verizon model is thin as.i9000 without the bump and it does have LED flash
Tmobile and att dont have front facing cameras
Tmobile has Avatar movie included with it.
Sprint has all features with slide out keyboard and 4g modem. The keyboard felt excellent.
None have true gyros. Specifically, they use accelrometer and magnometer for 6axis
I took a pic of the sprint model with flash on. Will.have it in the review
nice can't wait.
Hurry up! Just kidding, will be waiting though Sad to hear none have true gyro. Could care less about front facing camera and led flash though. Just me personally.
No mention of FroYo?
I like front facing camera for fring use (when they repair bug)
You say AT&T and T-mobile don't have front cameras, what about Verizon?
just sprint and i9000 have front facing camera
Sorry forgot to put that down. I didn't see a front facing camera on the Verizon model. However, we did ask the Samsung guy there and he said that these models might not be 100% yet. So some could have front facing camera's added and/or LED Flash as well.
But, right now, I don't believe the Verizon model has front facing camera.
Pre-orders start for tmobile on July 1st, however, NO release dates were given. Hopefully, I might get a review sample of the Epic 4G in. I actually saw a few dudes there with the DroidX.
First half of the video is done. Editing the second right now and when it's done I'll put them on youtube. The event was really nice. The roof lounge was pretty cool too. Got some nice stills as well as video.
Did the AT&T device have a rear flash? I can live without a front facing camera, but a rear camera with no flash is simply unacceptable.
@thephawx can you tell me for this WiMAX epic 4g. Can this device work in Europe also or is just for US?
Because in Europe 4g (802.16e) is on 3.5 GHz and in usa 4g (802.16e) is on 2.5 GHz?

AT&T Captivate did NOT have LED Flash. Nor does the T-Mobile Vibrant. The Vibrant looks quite similar to the i9000, minus the home button. The vibrant has four buttons on the bottom for navigation.
Did any of them have notification LED's? That's much more useful to me then a front facing camera or flash.
sigh. No flash confirmed

The device does look sexy though.
@vrhunski
Honestly, I wouldn't know. I'll ask the Sprint/Samsung rep I met tonight though if she has any info.
@landale
I'm pretty sure I saw green led light on the front to the left of front facing camera on the Epic 4G. It was like on the top right of the device.
Also one other thing worth pointing out is the Epic 4G has the speaker on the bottom of the device, instead of the back. I'm pretty sure the Verizon model is the same.

Sorry for skipping over you. They said 2.2 will be coming on all four carriers. They didn't specify when though.
Also, there was another thing I forgot to mention that seemed kind of worrying. They tossed around numbers like 16GB *included*. So I don't think that there is any other flash ram inside other than the 2GB NAND.

AT&T Captivate = 16GB internal
Verizon Fascinate = 2GB internal

If anyone wants to see the video of the Galaxy S event in NYC go here:
Part 1
Part 2
We are going to have an article up later today with all the info from the event and press kits supplied as well as some stills taken with the Galaxy S later today.
Forgive me if this is revealed in the videos, but it seems like the Epic has a soft-touch, Nexus-like back while the Vibrant has more of a smooth plastic back. Is that true?

Anyone notice that it looks like the hardware for the front camera is there on the vibrant? Any chance that could be activated and used with a new rom?
Lol, it's not a FFC.
Apparently you skipped over the stickied thread at the top that says "Read Before Posting" ...this has nothing to do with development.
But to answer your question, that isn't a camera. It's a proximity and light sensor.
When I first looked at my phone out of the box, I was REALLY excited about that as well.
Than my brain kicked in out of my geek coma I was in and realized that it was just sensors.
Reports and reviews from overseas basically say the FFC is basically a POS and really never gets used much for anything.
Basically it's about as powerful as a gameboy camera with ****ty resolution.
I don't miss it.
Someone please delete or at least lock this thread.

Hell, lets make it with 3 LEDs, convert the prox sensor to a FFC, and finally dip the phone in stainless steel so we can have a metal coating....

Haha better yet gold so its balling out of control. but where are all the rom files i just got rid of my hero and used to flash that thing everyday people need to step it up and get workng on some roms so i can test them and see whats good or bad with them.
From what i am told. The little thing on the front of the phone is a proximety sensor and something else. I always thought it was the cam. and we just had to enable it
but, I guess thats not the case.
HI,
Unfortunately, the front camera does not exist on the vibrant or captivate.
The camera hole would be located to the right of the speaker slit.
There is no hole there.
Probably left out to reduce costs.
It is only on the euro models.

can understand your excitement OP, but alas!
Thread moved to General, cleaned, and closed.
My camera took super blurry pics so tmo sent me a new phone. The top row on the keyboard has smaller numbers and the zero has a slash thru it. Its very helpful. Also this phone doesn't have the creaky back, but it does have a little gap on the right bottom corner :/
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
I really dislike that the numbers are the same size as the letters on the top row. Sounds like a good move.
Have you tried to root it?
I've read that the new Slides, the kind the OP got, are susceptible to the root method we have, because HTC fixed the recovery exploit or something.
Havnt got to root it yet, looks like I'll be sending this one back too. I can't hear anything when making a call unless speaker phone is on.

got mine 2 weeks ago and the zero has the line though it as well. No problem rooting it or flashing.
My bad. I could have sworn that I read that some where. Maybe I just dreamed it?
Second production run Slides (new keyboard) ARE rootable and run the same recovery as first production run Slides.

Your points, in order:
My camera on the Slide takes pretty decent pictures. Of course, this is relative, based on my prior 2 x G1s (total crap) and 2 x MyTouch 1.2s (still crap, same lens assembly I think). Having seen some incredible photos a few phones back from my VX-8000, plus an adjustment ring for macros, this was a serious disappointment. (Speaking of which, it had better sounding, stereo speakers, too. Jeez.)
I guess I have the original keyboard, because my zero has no slash. I should note that we ALL have different keyboards than the mockups, where those numbers (and the FN keys) were shown as red. Why they made this choice is beyond me. All the alternate mappings should be a different color, and offset, like they were on the G1. And not slanted either, because it looks toy-like.
The G1s squeaked and cracked sometimes, too. I think it's inherent in the slider designs, and will become evident after more use. But you might get lucky.
As for the gap in the corner, I'm assuming you can tell it has one because the keyboard backlight leaks through the crack? I've got the same problem with mine, but on the left side. I thought about using some of that black putty-type material that's used for sealing outer wall holes in houses, where wires might come in... they used to sell it at Radio Shack. That would be pliable and could be smeared/jammed in there, and would match color. Might still have some around here, it lasts forever.

My experience with TMO has been that they'll honor the one-year warranty by cross-shipping, with a credit card as surety. But I have four lines. That said, I had to return two G1s because of faulty trackballs. Supposedly they will give you refurbished equipment, though they always looked new to me.
If you're still within your remorse period (I believe it's 14 days, in the US at least) you should be able to return it and get another Slide or any other phone, if I'm not mistaken. YMMV with prepaid plans.
Post here ONLY when you received you DVP phone. Please post pictures and leave a short review of the phone for the other members.
Thanks

My biggest concern about the DVP is that this phone is going to seem simply huge in hand and pocket.
Any opinions from those who have received theirs?
I am so mad at all of you.
Received mine this afternoon.
- The keyboard is fantastic. Good clickiness.
- The screen is bright and rich.
- The power button is very awkwardly placed (on the top). Makes single handed wake up challenging.
- No problems with headphone jack.
- Battery life isn't great. I've been using it pretty heavily for about 5 hours and I'm down to about half battery life. Definitely a 'charge every night' device.
- Easy to accidentally brush edge of screen when adjusting grip.
- I would prefer real buttons to capacitive touch buttons since it's really easy to for instance hit the search button with your thumb while taking a picture.
- There seems to be a glitch in the camera software that causes it to go all noisy and pixelated and streaked while adjusting exposure.
- Camera speed is SSLLLLOOOOOOOWWWW SHUTTTTTTEEERRR. Even in day light the exposure feels the need to set the shutter speed to about 1/10th of a second or longer. Getting a blur free photo in doors is all but impossible. If you open up the settings and manually set it up, all of the bugs seem to be fixed. So it looks like they need a patch for the auto settings (white balance, ISO and flash).
- Call quality is good.
- Headphone music quality seems to be noise free and clear.
Battery life was my biggest concern. I thought they had gone for 1500 MAh but on the pocketnow unboxing they say it's 1400. Still, we can only comment on it after a few days I guess.
The DVP with AT&T bands passed FCC muster. Looking at the photo of that box, I didn't see any branding whatsoever on the exterior. It just says Dell Venue Pro. That may mean an even more compelling reason that the DVP is coming to AT&T. One box, multiple carriers?

First off let me say I love this phone, I really do but Motomaker has been leaving me a little sad.
So I started off by getting a 16gb model straight from AT&T since I'm not a patient person but after a bit I wanted 32gb so I sold the 16 and made one off contract on Motomaker.
The first Motomaker phone I got had scratches and dents on the screen bezel and it also looked like it had issues with the fusing as some of the plastic seemed to have gotten well into the screen.
I got a replacement and their advanced RMA was great and incredibly fast, however, the second one I got has a different issue. The power button on the new one doesn't seem to be seated right and sits lower than my previous two as well as being harder to press and not giving good tactile feedback..
Looks like I'm going to have to RMA again once I get the money back on my credit card.
Moto X you are amazing but something with the quality control is a bit lacking.
I had similar issues with my first phone. The power button was seated the same way you described, making it very difficult to actually use. The volume rocker was the exact opposite though, the whole button wobbled within the phone's frame, making it feel cheap. I requested a RMA saying that I wanted to swap colors, and only changed my accent color. The buttons on this phone are much more firm/usable.
I hope whatever issues there are down in Texas can get resolved soon. I really like this phone and Motorola to succeed but QA problems will give it a bad rep.
They didn't seem to care when I told them the damage I think if you bother calling they will change it.
i hope they get it right. mine came in with no issues. so they are capable of getting it right the fist time lol. i totally agree that they have issues though, my brother's veizon pre-order led is not near as flush as the one on my phone.
The Rogers ones I've seen (assembled in China) including mine are all flawless.
The one I got (no customization, Verizon) *works* fine but on the front-facing camera, I've noticed the felt ring is not seated correctly and creeping over the lens a little. Although I doubt Moto would give me an rma, it seems like a manufacturing defect.

I have a t mobile one and noticed it has a small scrape on the bottom back and a few plastic molding issues.
I am actually returning it now since I noticed there's eBay sellers selling black and white xt1058 models that are unbranded for significantly less. Made in China units but I figure I'll save $120 over an american unit and be fine with it. I'm in refarmed area so I don't care about the aws hspa and the non att xt1058 can have unlocked boot loader / no bloatware. Maybe the Chinese have better quality
At least, each time you replace a moto maker device you get a $10 play store credit (unless they fixed that loop hole) and supposedly the return process is easy and if you can float the $650 hold you can get it replaced without any down time.

I know what you guys mean with the manufacturing issues. My rear camera literally has a little piece of Texas in it. I noticed when I pulled it out of the box that the lens had a little speck of tan on it. However it won't wipe off, and closer inspection revealed it was on the other side of the lens!
Doesn't seem to affect the pictures at all though, so I doubt I'll get it replaced over that. But I'm sure gonna bring it up if I ever try! :fingers-crossed:

So, my display is going out...:crying: It will intermittently flash on and off for no reason. The digitizer still works, even when I can't see anything I can still feel it vibrating in my hand. This also pretty much breaks Active Notifications. :crying: And Touchless Control..:crying: And twist-to-camera...:crying:
Needless to say, I have a new one coming from Verizon tomorrow. And I definitely told them about the speck in my camera too. The lady at Verizon had the nerve to ask me if I had a memory card for my phone. I told her that unfortunately the designers at Motorola had taken that option away from me. I hope they at least send me some screen protectors or something for my trouble......because I thought I was doing a good thing supporting the workers in Texas.
UPDATE
My display went the rest of the way out last night. This resulted in a useless paperweight that vibrated occasionally. The worst part of it, is that I couldn't use Motorola Migrate to get my old info! Because the screen wouldn't come on, I couldn't see the QR code to start the wifi transfer. HOWEVER, after much anguish and profanity, I managed to get Moto Migrate to connect WITHOUT THE QR CODE!! I couldn't find this method listed in any literature, but it worked for me, and my non-displaying screen.
1) The old Moto X must have the NFC on! That is the key to this. Thankfully, I had NFC on prior to my screen breaking, so I didn't have to blindly try and toggle it on. Also turn it on for the new Moto X
2) If you're like me, and your screen won't work, then you can't see the Migrate app. Thankfully, you can just use Touchless Control to open it. "Okay, Google Now. Open Migrate" Give it 15 seconds and it should be open.
3) In my case, I had to tell my new phone to accept Migrations, and tell the old phone to send them. Settings in the top right corner, and then a toggle button in the middle of the screen. (I just used my new Moto X to judge the rough placement on my broken one, and it was easy)
4) Finally, touch the backs of the phone together, and tap the screen on the NEW Moto X to use Android Beam which pairs the phones and begins Migration of old info!
Note: I got the pairing backwards the first time, and sent settings from my new phone to my old one. This didn't appear to hurt anything, but that's why I specify you make the new Moto X the receiver.
Sorry for the HUGE update guys, but this is important information. It saved my ass, to mention an enormous headache. So I hope that anybody else trying to pair Motorola Migrate with a broken screen finds this post!! :good:

Whatever you do, don't go to the regular LG G5 forum.... There is so much negativity and haters/s7edge fanboys. I'm all for people charing their opinions but damn!
Anyway I got mine today, got the dark aluminum color (forgot the name) from ATT. It feels really nice and the wide angle lens is amazing. I will say I do have a bit of a gap between the bottom and the phone, but its not a deal breaker. I may go to the ATT store and compare to their floor model just to see if I am perhaps being too picky.

I know haha, that's why I posted here, other than the fact I'm using an AT&T version. I think the color you got is Titan? Anyways about the camera, I haven't been using a lot of it but I must say it's really quite different and does it's job pretty well. Compared to my old HTC One (M7) it's just planets apart. It takes in light really well too and basically just awesome. Also, I think you don't have to go to AT&T store cause whem the topic was brought up, I paid close attention and found out mine had the gap too! But honestly I'm not really bothered I don't feel it that much anyways. This phone's pros outweigh its con way too much haha.

Hello, I'm having the same issue with mine. Both front and rear camera show up with really low resolution

Im thinking it's the app and how it uses the drivers for the camera, i had a similar issue in whatsapp that the phone didn't focus correctly and the pic was blurry even though the preview before taking pic was fine, i don't use snapchat so i can't say i have the issue or not

I have issues with the front and rear cameras in Snapchat. I have also seen someone else with these issues in Snapchat on the lg g5 sub reddit. I don't have any issues with the camera in other apps as of yet. So I'm sure its Snapchat at fault.
I can confirm. Using native camera app pictures came out good and clear. Snapchat seems to take a **** with your camera and makes the pictures all grainy and blurry.
Well apparently my battery cradle and extra battery arrived today, they sent the shipping info today and when i go check the tracking number it's already at the post office niceee, so officially LG sent me the Accessory Bundle faster than BestBuy, now to wait for the BestBuy bundle to arrive at the store.
Does anybody experience slight increase in phone temp (as in while you're holding it you feel heat) when using snapchat or playing some games/cpu/gpu intensive apps ? I feel some heat but I just wanna make sure whether it's normal because of metallic body or defective battery.
