Hi There...
I've owned this phone for two days and i am having some issues with the use of my 3G data connection.
I can only get 3G connection when restarting the phone, when i get to an area where i lose the connection, it does not reconnect.
Not even areas where i never had problems with my HTC Hero having 3G connection (my apartment).
As soon as i restart the phone i reestablish connection to the 3G network and it works flawless, right until the connection is lost again.
I live in the central of Copenhagen where i always should be connected.
I've tried several APN managers to activate it, but without luck.
I've entered the testing area by pressing *#*#4636#*#* and taken some photos to give more info in the phone.
Hope someone can help me.
Just some basic questions:
Did you install any apps recently? Or made some changes in the settings?
If yes go to:
Applications > Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset

Hmm... it seems to work, thanks!.
The app i installed right before this occurred was "JuiceDefender", i'm just gonna avoid this app for now.
Thanks again!.

I have disabled the connection before, but now i can change the password, delete anything and whatnot and the fone will still FORCE connect itself to the data connection, which is gonna cost me big $$. This only happens once I open up opera/pie/google maps though.
right now my connection is basically:
Name:blahhhh
number:#97f399gg
username:sefse
password:hhhhh
domain*:xxxxxdaaa
i have tried everything, even completly deleting all the accounts.
what seems to happen is that the password goes for 5 digits to 16 somehow.
idk if that is back to what it is supposed to be with the #777 connection.
Using 3.0.1 custom DCD Rom, with opera, n some other bs programs
Anyhelp on how to stop this is appreciated

Google Maps and other apps that require data will automatically start a data connection if you initiate them.
If you turn on WiFi this should stop it because you are using another way of connecting.
Do you use your data plan from your carrier? If not you can always go to the EPST settings and disable EVDO and just use 1X. This will kill all data and just let you use the CDMA settings.
Okkkkk
I was able to attempt to activate them before and would just get an error, expectially with PIE, but now idk.
No i do not have the data plan, and im about 2-3MB into data which sucks. Im supposed to have a data block but i guess not.
To kill the EVDO settings, what would that be under?
( making the data parameters section blank did not work)
Also if i do this will i still be able to connect to Rev-A and whatnot?
[obv not do EVDO or able to send mms, but those two i can live without]

You dont neccessaraly kill EVDO all you are doing is only letting your phone see a CDMA signal. Like for making calls and such. This will iliminate EVDO / REV A , but it is simple to go back. Plus i learned that it gave me way better coverage signal, but with no ability to use data.
Completely disable 3g data connections forever, save wifi
This is my first contribution to xda-forums! I'm glad I can help at all when I've benefitted so much... Thanks to all!
NOTE: After the following steps, Modaco's Nodata doesn't even register that a data connection exists! For this reason, if you occasionally use 3g, you probably will want to use Nodata, and NOT the following solution. You just might have to open Nodata and disable the data connection every time you soft-reset.
I was finally able to completely 100% block the 3g data connection on my Verizon XV6800 (aka Mogul aka Titan) was the following three steps:
1. The key culprit is HTC_CM_Guardian.exe in the windows directory. I couldn't edit it or delete it via Total Commander file explorer, but I was able to rename it! This makes the OS unable to find the program when it tries to re-set the Data connection settings.
2. Under Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > "Select which networks are automatically used," hit "Select Networks."
3. Under "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" hit "New...".
4. Enter any name you want (mine's "nodata!") and leave all the other settings blank.
5. To be safe, you may have to delete the Verizon Or "Internet" Connection on the Tasks Tab of Settings > Connections > Connections. Save and exit.
Voila! Wifi, yes; 3g, no! No more nasty billing surprises.
Modaco's Nodata program is awesome, but the problem was that HTC_CM_Guardian.exe re-enabled the data connection every time I reset the phone. Plus, HTC_CM_Guardian.exe would also thwart any effort to block data via the "Connection Settings." By renaming HTC_CM_Guardian.exe and creating a "nodata!" connection that programs auto-connecting to the internet would try to use (and fail), we get three results:
1. Modaco's Nodata doesn't even register that a data connection exists! For this reason, if you occasionally use 3g, you probably won't to use this solution.
2. When you reboot, the OS is unable to mess-up your "Connection Settings", so
3. Unless you have an active wifi connection, programs will try to connect to the Internet using the "nodata!" settings, which, being empty, will fail, exactly as planned.
Hope it helps.
Hi,
Can you tell me where to find the guardian.exe file. I cant locate it any where is it hidden perhaps. I need to disable wifi for this phone. The property that I have does not have wifi currently. So the Wifi feature drains the battery. Thank you very very much if you can provide the information.

I just use the slider switch on the side of the phone to enable/disable wifi. I use RyanMogul's ROM and it works like a charm.
I like nueWiFiSwitch - Hardware Switch (it's in Ryan's ROM I'm using) Disable the wifi switch and whenever I want to use it, I turn it on with Communication Manager.
(the hardware switch would turn on random times when putting in or out of my pocket, etc. Works great!
Yeah i know then rom is old but i like it, i do have a problem though i am connected to the wi-fi network but i cant actually surf the net or use applications the use the internet, i find this weird as it says its connected. any help?
Anyone have a reply?
No one will be able to provide you with a reply without knowing tour actual settings.
Make sure to check if you are connecting via a proxy or not (Check Settings/Connections).
The easiest solution is to backup and do a hard reset and all will be fine.

Go to start > settings > connections > wifi > wireless networks > network adapters and make sure 'the internet' is selected and not 'work'. See if that helps.
As your issue is with wifi and not the actual rom I've moved it to General discussion.

You may find that your device is trying to use both wifi and data connection. Try using NoData and toggling off data connection so only wifi is available. If you ever need data connection again, just toggle it on again.
Also try going to start > settings > connections > wifi > advanced > power mode and set this to best performance.

That is not the solution. That is for people that never can connect using 3G connectivity.
Download the Network Profile app, change to another provider then change back to your actual provider.

Try this, i've done it (with the dft freedom rom) and aparently it worked:
1- Install the Diagnosis app by typing ##634# on the phone keypad. For Freedom Rom download it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22324890&postcount=42
2-

EDIT: After a day testing the 3g+ sign keeps showing as the prefered connection was 3g but i could easily receive MMS, and most of the time use internet with 3g+ and sometimes no wifi (even if its connected), sometimes looked like if it has stopped loading like if the phone doesnt know what connection to use or looses connection. Switching off and back on wifi normally solves the problem.
Now i've made another change, set network control aquisition order to automatic, mine was umts_gsm before:
Diagnosis > *#32489# > Back > Back (to Phone Control) > [7] Network Control > [4]Aquisition Order> [1]Automatic
Aparently its fine now, but needs more testing for final confirmation, would be nice if someone tries this as well.
Potential Fix
I had this issue too...
On my phone, this issue was caused by having a custom APN configured for my mobile operator.
Deleting the custom APN entry completely fixed this problem for me.
i have a new nexus 4, bought it a couple of days ago.
couple a days ago i installed Paranoid Android and i started noticing mobile data disconnections.
after trying all else i reverted back to stock and still no network data.
i can only get WiFi to work, but no mobile data.
the phone does see my network as hspa+ but under mobile connection state it says disconnected.
i've checked the apn and it is configured correctly.
any one has any idea ?

At a guess, I think your APN might not be configured properly, but there's a couple of easy things you can test first (in increasing order of effort/difficulty)
1) Toggle aeroplane mode on for 10 seconds and then turn it off. Does data now work?
2) Go into Settings > Data Usage and check that "Mobile Data" is on. Then go to Settings > More > Mobile Networks and check that "Data enabled" is ticked and that "Use only 2G" is not ticked.
3) Dial *#*#4636#*#* this will take you to a test menu. Press "Phone Info" scroll to the bottom and there should be a button that says "turn off radio". Turn off for 10 secs and then turn on again and go back.
4) Finally, what I suspect is actually the problem is that your APN isn't configured correctly. You need to google "[carrier name] APN settings Android 4.2" and see which settings come up. Then put those settings into Settings > More > Mobile Networks >Access Point Names > 3 menu dots > New APN.
Hope one of those works. If not, I have no idea, but hopefully someone more advanced than me will be along to help!

Turn off WiFi and see what happens then.
On Android, if you have a WiFi connection, it disconnects your mobile data connection.
Did you install the stock boot.IMG too?
Any progress?
I have the same problem on my phone, did you manage to get it working?
Thanks
Try a factory reset.

This is the problem I guess you have guys That one was mine also.
I have searched and searched. I can't find anything that can help me to find what is going on. I have a rooted/xposed moto x pure edition on Lollipop. My wifi won't work at my house. This is a problem only for the network at my house. I keep getting a "obtaining ip address" loop until it finally says "ip configuration failure"
Again this is only for my home network. It works everywhere else. I tried changing my ip to static (It then connects but doesn't have internet access), resetting all network settings, forgetting and reconnecting to the network.
I downloaded CatLog and have attached a screenshot of that.
I guess I could just wipe it and restore my apps from Titanium Backup but I'd like to avoid that if possible
If it only happens at your house, try playing with your router... factory default that first.
I did a factory reset on the router. All the other devices are still working normally except my phone. It seems to have come after my apps updated (I don't get OTA updates for my OS)

Go to Settings - Backup & Reset and select Network Settings reset and confirm, reboot, and try to add your home network again.
Be aware that ALL saved network settings and passwords will be lost performing this operation, but all other data will be intact.

Thank you acejavelin! That did the trick. I was looking for that network reset. Worked like a charm.
