This may be a dumb question but here I go.
So I heard that android 2.2 is coming out and I was wondering if there was anyway to revert my mytouch 3g back to its original state if I wanted to? (de-root) lol
Or should I wait for developers to make new custom roms with 2.2?
But I am still curious if it possible to reverse a rooted phone?
1) 2.2 is not out yet.
B) there's a big honkin' 2.2 thread already
3) there's also a "how to root/unroot your mt3g" thread over in developement.
1) 2.2 source is released now
Proper 2.2 running on our devices is a long shot. But hope for the best
Cyanogen is already working om CM6 which is Froyo based and he said that amongst its targets is the Dream, the Magic/Sapphire/Mytouch 3g and Mytouch 3g Slide

hello, sorry to be posting this in an intercept forum, but does anyone about changing the intercept froyo update to work with the moment? they seem similar enough and i feel a bit gyped. i'd probably attempt it myself if it's doable cause i dont think that they're are any custom moment roms, right?
I believe that a release of Cyanogen Mod already implements Froyo. I may be wrong. It's a nightly build/RC release. And the moment has many differences when compared to the intercept, or at least more than you seem to imply.
Unfortunately, I cannot get the 2.2 dump to boot on my Moment. The 2.1 dump from the Intercepted booted, and the Transform 2.1 booted as well. Both had issues though such as
1.Static in the audio
2.No data, or wifi.
3.Camera did not work at all
The kernel for the Intercept did not simply boot on the Moment. Thankfully, since Samsung is lazy the last Froyo for Intercept was more or less AOSP, which depending on what Samsung does when they put out the new Froyo that doesn't brick the Intercept, we may have an Intercept Froyo on the Moment. But I wouldn't worry about it too much, littlejth from SDX developers has an almost working Cmod 6 port working on the Moment, with just issues that have mainly been fixed. That and the Spica has a port of Gingerbread booting, which the Spica is more or less the GSM version of what the Moment is.
If you want to try it, take the system dump of 2.2 from the Intercept, throw it in an update package and see if it'll flash over your current rom.
Yeah it might work, but you are going to get quite a few issues. Note that those very issues might render your phone useless as a mobile device. My suggested option: do what the poster above my post said. Wait for the cyanogen mod Port.
IT WORKS!

2.2.1 working perfectly on my Moment.
Hi there!
For the mytouch 4G phone from t-mobile, it doesn't come with vanilla android (the stock android O.S).
So, once rooted, is it possible to flash it with the Stock Android 2.2 O.S? That does not have T-mobile's junk? If so, where or how can I find it?
I came upon several links, but wasn't certain. Also, what does it mean by RUU rom?
thanks!
I have no idea what RUU to be honest, never used one but I think it's the factory image that's used to bring phone back to stock, not sure if there's one for MT4G
There's no official vanilla 2.2 rom for this phone. The closest thing you can have is CyanogenMod. 2.2.1 is in RC2 stage and is very stable. 2.3 (gingerbread) is in unofficial alpha stage. It's very stable (as far as people say) but has it's bugs and there no official support from CM for it, only community. All other roms out there are sense based. All roms are in Development section.
Obviously, you need to be rooted to flash any of those.
Good luck.
RUU = ROM Upgrade Utility. It is essentially the rom that ships with the phone. You are correct in saying there is no true vanilla Android ROM. OP's best bet is to go with CM as you suggested as it is Vanilla Android with some features added and closest to pure android you're going to get.
Maybe this has already been posted, but I'm on here pretty frequently and haven't seen this mentioned.
I was pointed to this tweet on another forum:
http://twitter.com/black_man_x/status/24657410245263360
apparently this guy works for Verizon and they are already testing 2.3 on the X.
Question for the people running custom ROMs.
When (or if, I know that tweet isn't official confirmation) Moto releases Gingerbread for the X, will we have to flash back to Moto's 2.2.1, upgrade to Moto's 2.3, and THEN go back to our ROM of choice?
Or is it likely that, for example, Fission will offer a way for us to upgrade to Gingerbread straight from Fission Froyo?
This assumes that the ROM of choice is compatible with 2.3.
I think the safest thing to do would be to flash back to 2.2.1, OTA to 2.3, then flash the chosen ROM.
Okay i need to find a nand rom that meets these requirements
stock froyo 2.2
cm 6.1.1
cwm capabale
and easily moddable
why you ask?
Well I Came Up With A Idea To Put The Samsung UI In a Rom
Havent Seen It Yet And i Love the way it looks (previous iphone user lol)
and i want this done and i have no experience building roms just desgining them
So I just got the gingerbread update and I want to flash 3.0 on my mytouch...which is the more stabe for regular usage. Double shot or fusion?
If you got the official update, you will need to follow this guide to downgrade to froyo and gain root first (again)

As far as roms, fusion development has given way to unity, so would recommend that over fusion. As far as doubleshot, they are both stable for being relatively new but not without a bug or two. And the only one who can answer which is better is you...one may suite your style and needs better than than the rom I use...since they are all under active development, you may as well start to get used to flashing and try them all before you stick with one...
