First hints of 2.3 on the Droid X - Droid X General

Maybe this has already been posted, but I'm on here pretty frequently and haven't seen this mentioned.
I was pointed to this tweet on another forum:
http://twitter.com/black_man_x/status/24657410245263360
apparently this guy works for Verizon and they are already testing 2.3 on the X.
Question for the people running custom ROMs.
When (or if, I know that tweet isn't official confirmation) Moto releases Gingerbread for the X, will we have to flash back to Moto's 2.2.1, upgrade to Moto's 2.3, and THEN go back to our ROM of choice?
Or is it likely that, for example, Fission will offer a way for us to upgrade to Gingerbread straight from Fission Froyo?

This assumes that the ROM of choice is compatible with 2.3.
I think the safest thing to do would be to flash back to 2.2.1, OTA to 2.3, then flash the chosen ROM.

*beware before downloading 2.1 rom*

just so you know in case you don't know, there is some problems with the rom and as of right now (unless i'm mistaken) there is now way to take the rom off.
And with the new possibility of rooting i saw wait for rooting your eris or just get the nexus one
The Rom works fine.
There are NO major issues with rom version 0.2 or 0.3.
And if your phone is rooted, you will probably find a new 1.5 ROM on her soon based on the original stock. So you can flash a new ROM. Assuming you are talking about the rooted 2.1 and not the leaked one.

Android 2.2

This may be a dumb question but here I go.
So I heard that android 2.2 is coming out and I was wondering if there was anyway to revert my mytouch 3g back to its original state if I wanted to? (de-root) lol
Or should I wait for developers to make new custom roms with 2.2?
But I am still curious if it possible to reverse a rooted phone?
1) 2.2 is not out yet.
B) there's a big honkin' 2.2 thread already
3) there's also a "how to root/unroot your mt3g" thread over in developement.
1) 2.2 source is released now
Proper 2.2 running on our devices is a long shot. But hope for the best
Cyanogen is already working om CM6 which is Froyo based and he said that amongst its targets is the Dream, the Magic/Sapphire/Mytouch 3g and Mytouch 3g Slide

[Q] Stock rom

Hi there!
For the mytouch 4G phone from t-mobile, it doesn't come with vanilla android (the stock android O.S).
So, once rooted, is it possible to flash it with the Stock Android 2.2 O.S? That does not have T-mobile's junk? If so, where or how can I find it?
I came upon several links, but wasn't certain. Also, what does it mean by RUU rom?
thanks!
I have no idea what RUU to be honest, never used one but I think it's the factory image that's used to bring phone back to stock, not sure if there's one for MT4G
There's no official vanilla 2.2 rom for this phone. The closest thing you can have is CyanogenMod. 2.2.1 is in RC2 stage and is very stable. 2.3 (gingerbread) is in unofficial alpha stage. It's very stable (as far as people say) but has it's bugs and there no official support from CM for it, only community. All other roms out there are sense based. All roms are in Development section.
Obviously, you need to be rooted to flash any of those.
Good luck.
RUU = ROM Upgrade Utility. It is essentially the rom that ships with the phone. You are correct in saying there is no true vanilla Android ROM. OP's best bet is to go with CM as you suggested as it is Vanilla Android with some features added and closest to pure android you're going to get.

Droid X Gingerbread Rom

My Wife is running the gingerbread leak version 2.3.3. What rom will work with this? What is the best rom thats stable and the most used basically. Will I have to sbf back to froyo or is there a rom that works with gingerbread
2.3.3 isn't specific enough to answer. All three leaks are all Gingerbread, but the build numbers are different. They go as follows: 4.1.5XX (or something along those lines). Each are referred to as 588, 591, and 595. The ROM will specify which version it takes. A ROM that comes to mind is Apex 2.0.

Return to stock

I have a Droid X running Liberty AOSP v.8 (.569) and want to return to stock Gingerbread w/Blur so I can sell the device. How would I do that?
I have only had the phone for 2 days (just not for me)
You can SBF back to original gingerbread from Verizon
There are a couple of threads here that tell you how to do it either using a Linux box or a Windows box.
I've sbf'd a few times just experimenting with different builds and it's pretty easy really. Just read up on the threads here or you can go to the link below which will tell you how to create a bootable Linux cd which has a built-in script that will take you back to the official FroYo version which you can then decide to either update to the current official Gingerbread or simply leave it with FroYo and let the new owner of your phone upgrade it.

[Edit] There's even a new Gingerbread version of the above mentioned bootable cd.
