Is it possible to flash a rom if you are running a sdcard ported android system?

I have a touch pro 2...I am running the most recent android build for my touch pro 2. I looked at the system details and its reading that the build is the dream aka the g1. Im really feeling the the new sense user interface and as of right now I know there are alot of flashable roms to get the hero's sense ui on the g1.
So is it possible to flash a rom if you are running a ported android build
No, don't even try it. You could permenatly brick your phone. You don't have a G1 theirfore your device has different system requirements.

(Help) Making and trying to port a rom for the first time for galaxy s

hi all, first of all i know this is a question and im posting it here and its the wrong place. It will soon be moved by a moderator. I get no replys in the i9000 Q&A or i9000 general so im asking here .
Ok so all my time at xda, i have been in the theming department and now this is my first go at developing. but before that, i have some really noob questions to ask. All i want to try is to port awsome roms onto galaxy.
1) first of all, if there is a rom for an another phone and you flash it, it doesnt boot up because our kernel for i9000 doesnt know how, am i right?
2) if so, can we make a custom kernel that knows how to boot stock froyo (nexus one) roms?
3)is it possible to change the entire system of our galaxy and make it stock so it is easier to port roms?
4) can i use a another rom (for i9000) as a base and then modify it to make my own rom. Basically use an another rom as a base?
And any other bits of information about roms is appreciated
COnsidering that cyagenmod stuff are straggeling to port it to galaxy s, with their very considerate experience and skills - I dont think you should touch it =)
but can i at least get answers to my questions
Thanks

2) i think the Problem ist the Recovery and that stuff we must change the whole system of this f******* "Samsung made" Android and i thin its to difficult..
3) Same at 2)
Maybe i could answers a bit of your question?
I want to try to make an AOSP clone for Galaxy S (just like gaosp is for spica users) that uses as less from samsung as possible. But that's a long journey, and I'm low on free time recently. From AOSP getting to cyanogen would be easy, although getting to cyanogen from non-aosp might still be easier. And there is also the possibility that the "Nexus Two" will be very stock-like with a hardware similar to our SGS, that would hopefully make porting current and later AOSP based roms and ports much easier. Until we find that out I don't think it's worth the investment in re-creating everything from scratch.
Eugene made a aosp clone but it still used twframework although everything was stock. The nptification pulldown didnt even have those tabs for wifi and stuff but when i was about to start theming it, it still had twframework-res in the framework foldrr, is the galaxy s touchwiz dependent?

[Q] Stock rom

Hi there!
For the mytouch 4G phone from t-mobile, it doesn't come with vanilla android (the stock android O.S).
So, once rooted, is it possible to flash it with the Stock Android 2.2 O.S? That does not have T-mobile's junk? If so, where or how can I find it?
I came upon several links, but wasn't certain. Also, what does it mean by RUU rom?
thanks!
I have no idea what RUU to be honest, never used one but I think it's the factory image that's used to bring phone back to stock, not sure if there's one for MT4G
There's no official vanilla 2.2 rom for this phone. The closest thing you can have is CyanogenMod. 2.2.1 is in RC2 stage and is very stable. 2.3 (gingerbread) is in unofficial alpha stage. It's very stable (as far as people say) but has it's bugs and there no official support from CM for it, only community. All other roms out there are sense based. All roms are in Development section.
Obviously, you need to be rooted to flash any of those.
Good luck.
RUU = ROM Upgrade Utility. It is essentially the rom that ships with the phone. You are correct in saying there is no true vanilla Android ROM. OP's best bet is to go with CM as you suggested as it is Vanilla Android with some features added and closest to pure android you're going to get.

[Q] Returning to Gingerbread

Hello,
You'll have to excuse my relative anonymity with regards to Android. I've always been a BlackBerry user and I've recently switched to a Note and couldn't be happier, but I know little about ROM's, development and so on.
I've rooted my Note and loaded a Custom ROM - imilka's CyanogenMod9, which has been working fantastically. However, I do miss some of the stock TouchWiz applications like S Memo and S Planner. Also, I'd like to return to Gingerbread and simply wait for the official ICS update from Samsung. Custom ROM's are nice and efficient, but for daily use I'm starting to think a stock ROM might be better for me.
My question is, how can I return to the latest stock ROM of the Note, without losing root or bricking my phone?
Thanks in advance, and I apologize if this has been covered someplace else but I couldn't find it.

Best Vanilla/Nexus style ROM for the Note 4 (N910F)

Hi all, I'm trying to find a ROM which is most like untouched standard Android (Like what you'd get on a Nexus device); this sort of ROM used to be referred to as 'Vanilla' but may also be know as Nexus or Google Play Edition.
I played with my friends new Moto X yesterday and the OS was so much faster and responsive than my phone, in my opinion. Furthermore, I prefer the aesthetics of the standard ROM; I know Motorola ROM's aren't completely free of changes but they are certainly a lot more uncustomised than Samsung with all its additions and customisations which I really hate the look of and find my phone gets laggy quickly unless a restart is performed.
I have extensive experience loading custom ROM's but I don't want to have to try all of them, I was hoping you may be able to help me find a ROM which matches my requirements. The addition of S Pen apps/compatibility would be awesome but I can obviously look into adding this myself if the ROM does not natively support it.
Thanks community!

If you just want plain standard nexus type rom them you just want plain cm from the original development section. There are a few versions of cm with added tweaks around as well but cm roms are pretty much only available for the qualcom n4 plus every cm rom will have a couple of bugs

Best ROM threads are banned. What works well for 1 person may not necessarily work well for you, its trial and error my friend.

theres an aicp ported rom and rr ported rom in the development thread , also not on xda is du rom available on their website wich is what I'm currently using
note 4 910f best stable rom pie
im a newbie can you help please.
Did you find a rom that worked for samsung note 4 n910F marhmallow to pie? blutooth and camera ok?
A shop did this for me they tried twice but though android pie worked when I switched the fone off.. power off from the shutdown menu at end of day.... it wouldnt reastart at all. They gave up and reloaded samung marsmallow again which its running now.
As a newbie id appreciate knowng how and in which order you did this. Im thinking odin on computor, root fone to take nandroid copy twrp
If I end up with the same problem as the shop ie no restart, could I obtain and load an original samsung ver 5 or 6 android, as this would be easier than rooting the fone in order to make a nandroid copy.
THANK YOU !!! april 2020.
