Why is the Agenda app using so much network? - Legend General

using *#*#4636#*#* is discovered the biggest network usage of my phone is the agenda app. Thats right its using more then my browsing, twitter and facebook activities. I dont care to much about the data usages since i have a unlimited data plan. What i do care about is that it costs me battery usage and that my agenda app is syncing with something i have no control about!
I use the agenda called my agenda which i think doesnt sync with any online agenda and is just a on the phone only agenda. I have shut off all optional agendas and turned off the agenda weather function. So it shouldn't be even using the network at all.
Anyone knows more about this agenda network use?

Messenger Live forces sync!

wth, there was an option to disable sync in the Windows Live. But when I run messenger it forces a sync. How can I prevent this?
If i allow it to sync then remove all the msn contacts, its reflected in my profile and i'll lose all my msn contacts!
Try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282540&highlight=windows+live+mobile
Ya I've already searched. That thread doesn't seem to lead to any answers.
Well, reading through all of it and through a number of other threads on this site, it seems that you can use windows live without syncing contacts as long as you never use messenger. The minute you use messenger, then it will sync all your contacts. On one of the threads there are instructions for how to best 'combine' the information so that you don't have duplicates (even though you ticked the combine option) and so that you don't lose all your contacts.
I think it involved going on messenger on the pc, deleting all the messenger contacts, going on the device and inputting a second email address and IM info and then doing the sync, but I'm not sure, it's pretty well described on one of the threads.
I used it for a while, but it made my device really slow down, insisted on using GPRS all the time, instead of wifi if that was available, made my device less stable, and then it often took around 20 minutes or so for the 'push' email to arrive. So I've gone back to using Pocket msn.
bump.
Still looking for a way to use msn live without fudging up my contacts with 100+ users.
Where can I get pocket msn?

Export/Import/Issues Contacts or Calendar

When the new version of Gmail came out, users started having issues importing contact files that were exported from MS Outlook. The biggest issue, and one I just ran into, was that street addresses weren't coming in. Everything else was, but not physical address info.
I researched it in GoogleGroups and found the solution. At the top right of the Gmail inbox page is the option 'Older Version', click it and do the import of your contact CSV file, everything comes over as it should. Afterwards, click the same link (now labeled 'Newer Version').
If you've used the Anniversary or Birthday date fields in your contact records, there is no equivalent in Google Contacts -- but the dates do come over in the Contact Comments, and are labeled. Google Contacts doesn't have 'categories' (they have 'groups'), so any you've assigned in Outlook come over into the Contact Comments as well; would be better if catergories came across as groups -- but -- oh well
Sync MS Outlook Calendar to Google Calendar App
There is a program that lets you sync your calendar over from Outlook to Google: http://www.google.com/support/calendar/ ... swer=98563
I've just used it, and it works well. One thing I found though is that if you have used the Anniversary and/or Birthday fields in your Contact records in Outlook, even though these dates appear in your Outlook Calendar, they don't sync over to Google with the calendar sync program. Google Contacts don't have birthday or anniversary date fields, so it must be related to that. Everything else comes over though, repeating, multi-days, and everything else came over just as they were created in Outlook.
Contacts?
I was wondering if there was another way to get your contacts off of your current phone to the G1, besides syncing your outlook contacts to gmail and having all of the on your sim. The reason I ask is because I have about 400 contacts and I would like to still have them all. Also would ppc backup work for the G1? Since there is no actual talk about it what is your thoughts?
I think its to early to be asking this question, unless someone here has a G1 already, which i don't think is the case.
As for the PPC Backup I highly doubt it will work...but i can tell you someone will make a program that does the same thing as PPC Backup.
outlook, sync and google calandar
I use my dash with outlook. I also sync my outlook calendar with my google calendar. Here's my question. I know you can't currently sync the g1 with outlook, but i can access my google calendar. I'm in Salt Lake City Utah and we aren't even scheduled for 3G yet. Do the events download to the phone or is it just through the browser? I live in a mountainous area and sometimes i don't have phone signal. When this happens, do I have no calendar? Same with my contacts and phone numbers. Have you had a chance to use the calendar? Thanks!
You might want to check out the user guide, it's in PDF format. You can use the forum search feature to find links to it, or, go to the T-Mobile site, they have it there as well.

outlook, google calandar and multi tasking...
my question about outlook isn't in the instruction manual that i could find. I'm curious if my google calendar data is available on the phone if im out out cell range and can't go on line. Here's another question. On my dash, if i go to anther program, my explorer shuts down and if i go back to it to go on line, i have to look up whatever web page i was looking at all over again. Does the G1 keep you on line even though your off doing something else? How have you found it does at multi-tasking. Any slow down? I'm always having to reboot my dash... Thanks, Scott

I wish I could answer this but I dont understand what exactly you are asking.
Applications do not seem to close they stay open. So if you open ebay.com and go back to it at the end of the day it will still be open....
Does that answer your question?
Calender Export from outlook to Gmail?
How do I go about doing this?

Google Calendar Sync
Download google calendar sync. it is easy, you can set it up to sync on your computer. I have it to sync every 30 minutes.
Here is the Link
http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en-ie&answer=89955
If you have a lot of Outlook categories and want the same on google calendars, i do the following.
I have 1 outlook calendar with about 8 colored categories.
I made 8 google calendars, named the same as the 8 categories.
Downloaded/purchased an app called gsyncit, which syncs all items to the corresponding google calendars. Works pretty well.
I use google calendars for mobile device since it's easier to read then mobile outlook, but at home/work, Outlook still rules as the organizer. Goolgle services are awesome for backing stuff up. I am notorious for blowing away my outlook personal folders when I am trying things out..
I am curious to see what the calendar app is like for dream, need to find some screenshots or something.
edit: i use to use the google calendar sync, but I could only sync 1 calendar from google calendar so that didn't work out to well for my categories. Hopefully they will beef up Google Calendar Sync.
Thanks guys I will try this!

I don't have a Dream, but I know that google has something called "Google Gears". Google Gears is suppose to let you view online data, offline. AFAIK the only google app for mobile that does that right now is Picasa. There are some desktop version sites that do it also.
I don't know if you are looking at your calendar data via the web, or through the calendar app in android. But obviously, if you are using the browser, and you are out of range, you won't be able to view your calendar stuff, unless they have made google gears work with their web browser and calendar.
As for the calendar app, I assume it works like outlook, so once your events/appointments are on your phone in the app,t hey are there for good, whether or not you are in cell range.
As for your explorer question, I can't help with the android part of that, but I have a blackjack II on 6.1, and if i am on a webpage then decide i want to open an app, do whatever then go back to the page, i just press the back button and it takes me back to the page I was on.
I also have some silly hard key for internet, but hwen i press that is takes me to a home page which is annoying. But just hitting the back button, or going back to internet explorer through the start menu, takes me to the last page i was on.
Contact Sync Issue
Is anyone else seeing this issue?
So I took the advice of another member and deleted all my contacts on gmail. Changed the view to older and imported my contacts. Then I sync on my device and all my contacts are back on my phone including the addresses etc...
The only problem is my notes are not all on the phone. I have a long set of notes for some people and on one contact half the notes show up the other half dont. I go into gmail and it shows all the notes for the contact...
Seems strange, anyone else?
google calendar
that answers a lot of my questions. On my dash if i go to another app then go back to internet explorer, it's shut down and i have to reopen it and thread through to get back to where i was. The calendar question is still a mystery to me. It was my understanding that they didn't include sync so you would use google calendar. (I have the app the uploads my outlook into my online google calendar. I use my phone as a pda for business. I'm assuming if im out of cell range, I can't access my appointments. Here's hoping for a real calendar on my g1 that syncs with outlook! Looking forward to your next post. Scott
go look at my post in this section
the app i loaded from google let me cross sync with outlook
now if they can just get this working with contacts
i am on the g1 sorry about short reply
Glad my info worked for you. Bad news about the notes, maybe when we get our G1's, we'll figure it out
If my memory recalls, there are labeled fields in Outlook that google doesn't support.
I'm sure with a more detailed syncing program we can sync what info go into what field of Google.
For example:
Birthday in outlook...Google doesn't have a birthday field. It notes it as a birthday.

You can have a second google calendar called birthdays and sync all appointments from outlook with the category of birthday assigned to them. This would be filtered through an app called GSyncIt
how about notes and tasks
is there anyway to sync these??

How sync task...using Outlook Only no Google??

Still waiting on my DINC...
I am a WM user and ActiveSync does sync task. I read the HTC sync does not and I need all my contacts, calendar, task, etc sync
I do not use Google at all so can anyone recommend to me how to sync task or maybe another app I can use...?
Not your answer but ...
My #1 concern when leaving WM (I really really wanted my next phone to be WM) was outlook sync. I am very happy with the Calendar and Contact sync the Incredible does. I have not tried tasks and can't tell you about that. I use rememberthemilk for tasks; it is an online task manager which will also sync to astrid (free task manager) on your phone.

Wow...thx this is good feedback and I agree I do not have my DINC yet but am very concerned about leaving WM in the fact I do not know how my Outlook data will sync over to the new device since I am so use to ActiveSync
So sounds like you are saying installing rememberthemilk with add the function to sync my Outlook task to the DINC device..?
I switch from WM6.1 to DINC the day it came out. I use Touchdown for Exchange syncing and it works very well (occasionally it loses settings but that is a refresh and a re-sync of 15 minutes). Touchdown is $20, but Android 2.2 will have better Exchange capabilities I understand.
I don't use Tasks so its not that big a deal to me but everything else works flawlessly. Here is a link to the new Exchange features:

Sounds interesting....how does this help when I use copy email Outlook which is on Exchange and then I use personal email on my home Outlook...the WM creates separate mailboxes for Exchange mail and the other personal mail??
Syncing tasks is a big deal to me too. So far I've found only one way to do it well with my desktop Outlook and my DI. On the Incredible I use an app called Got to Do. It is nothing but a task/to do list. BUT, it does sync with a web-based app called Toodledo, which has a feature that syncs with Outlook.
So my Outlook tasks automatically sync with Toodledo, which automatically syncs with the app on my DI.
So far it's working okay but if someone were to develop a stand alone desktop app that syncs with an android app, I'd sure take s hard look at it.
Good info...thx
I have all my contacts loaded on my account on my company's exchange server. I sync all my email and contacts and calendar through there. I don't do tasks.
Sometimes there are "glitches" that require you to have to mess with it. I had to re-add my account probably twice since 5/1 but its quick and easy to do.

Facebook Calendar Sync - Wrong Times and Duplicates in Outlook

I have both my Exchange account and my Facebook account setup to sync on my Vibrant. The calendar items that sync from Facebook show up fine on the phone and they are in turn synced to Exchange and show up in Outlook. The problem is, they all show up with the wrong time in Outlook... they are all 4 hours early. I live in the Eastern Time Zone, so I think it's that they are listed as Pacific Time. Is there any way to change that?
Also, everytime the phone does a scheduled sync of the Facebook calendar, it adds another copy of the Facebook events to my Outlook calendar. It creates a new one every time. Any suggestions?
For now, I've just had to disable calendar sync for the Facebook account on the phone, but I'd like them to sync.
Doesn't anyone else have their phone syncing with their Exchange and Facebook calendars? If so, do you see the wrong time and duplicates for Facebook calendar items that are added to you Exchange calendar in Outlook?
Someone else must have their phones syncing their Exchange and Facebook calendars, right?
I haven't had this exact problem but something very similar. I use calWidget to display my agenda on my home screen. Any of my face book events that show up on there are behind by 5 hours. When I click to enter the calendar app though, the correct times are listed. This only happens with my facebook events. So you're not alone Yogi, but I have no solution for you.

You aren't tripping, I have the same exact problem. The only difference is mine are off by 7 hours. Its really pissing me off, and makes my widget totally useless. UGH!!!!!!

Yogi, I am currently experiencing the exact same problem here in our office with one user. The question I have, is why is Active sync even pulling in the Facebook calendar events? My user happens to be using the same email address for both Facebook and work email accounts, could that be why Active sync is pulling the events? In any event, if at this point I could get the Facebook events to show up on the users phone and not her outlook that would be fine. The best solution would be to get the FB events to show up properly in her outlook, (they are showing up about 4 hours early) at the right times and not repeating themselves.
Did you find any solutions?

[Q] Alt Calendar App

Hi....
Am looking for a calendar app that supports Google Calendar and Facebook Calendar... Also allowing multiple color codes to the tasks!
Please help
Thanks!
I've been using Jorte for a little while:
the app itself is pretty extensive. lots of options/customisations to change style and colours. syncs fine with google and facebook calendars, so can see all events and friends' upcoming birthdays at a glance.
loads of different sized widgets too.
hope it might be what you're looking for!
Smooth Calendar? Or doesnt it have Facebook integration?

hi,
i use business calendar for some times now and does what you are asking to FB, google, pcsynch, exchang... have a look
Jorte is very good =)
thanks for this tip !
Another vote for Business Calendar. I have been using it since the beta and the free version works very well. Although I'm not sure if it integrates Facebook.
i've been using jorte - i didn't really like it because for me it was not clearly enough arranged
i really like the htc calendar widget - unfortunately it's not available on AOSP roms
Calendar Pad is a very nice calendar alternative as well.
+1 for Business Calendar. The app is smooth, works fine and syncs automatically.
I'm using business calendar & touch calendar because with touch you can set recurring appointments every xx no of days & not restricted to set period also use busy me to sync with calendar & set phone to silent or vibration when I'm in an appointment I've set as busy in the calendar.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Another +1 for business calendar, I tried heaps of them as the calendar is one of my most used apps and love it. The widgets are great too.
Definitely Jorte. Very customizable and it also does tasks(extremely handy).
If you want more task functionality, try Astrid.
