does anyone have usb drivers for kin phones? it comes up as "pink cdma"
I hope you got everything figured out by now, But I recently had the same problem when I first hooked my Kin Two to my Windows 7 Comp. You think they would recognize each other right away considering they are apart of the windows family In any case to fix the problem I had to have the Zune software installed from the Zune site. the moment I installed the software it automatically recognized my phone and installed the right drivers. It then asked me to name my device to whatever I wanted it called. Now it shows up under Device Manager in the category "Portable Devices" as whatever name I chose to call it. Hope this helps.

thank you for the reply

that helped to recognize my phone, but still need usb diag drivers. it is called PINK CDMA DIAGNOSTIC DRIVERS. neither microsoft or verizon site seems to have them.
Kin usb drivers
ok so here are some more things i found after tinkering with the phone. ##77647266488 then press Call to get to a menu and go to other. if u just do the usb passthrough mode on, device manager will look for pink cdma diag driver. if u just do the PPro on, it will ask for PMX USB debug drivers. if u do both on, it will ask for USBfn composite driver. interesting...... looks like more searching
whipped up some drivers
Hello! Can anybody help me with this Pink CDMA Diagnostic Drivers?
I live in Ukraine (Eastern Europe), and my friend from USA sent me a present - Kin One phone. I know, that it is a Verizon Wireless only model. But there are some CDMA carriers in Ukraine too. So, I want to use this phone in my native country.
But I have a problem. Service-man from our carrier Intertelecom tried to download PRL-file into Kin One, but... We have no drivers.
Please, help me. Where can I get them? This phone is a present from my best friend, and I want to use Kin One very much.

lmfao...they do work for DIAG mode
if you want regular connectivity drivers then get them from MS
thnx
btw- you can jump to the noob section to get regular phone drivers
"The specified location does not contain information about your device" when I attempt to use the drivers.
So no, it appears as if they don't want to work.
any news on rooting the kin two?

Does anyone know what type of file you must have to import contacts in this hidden menu?
Got USB CDMA Drivers to install
There is an typo in the qcser.inf file: Vid_056C should be Vid_05C6
I changed this and the drivers installed.
I can now view the filesystem using BitPim.
Still cant get cdma drivers to install
I've been trying to install these drivers but couldn't, I also noticed the qcmdm file is also calling out for that vid_056C typo, should this be changed too?
When I point my device manager to the folder it just says "windows could not find driver software for your device". Any advice?
Also once the drivers are installed, do I have to change the internal settings for BitPim to detect it i.e. PPro, USB Pass Through, USB Vid Stream (on or off?).
I don't know anything about drivers but it seems that the qcmdm.ini file is a modem driver, not a diagnostic usb driver.
Yea, its seems so. Have you gotten the drivers to install? I am using Windows 7 and it does not appear to recognize these files as valid cdma drivers. I just want to be able to access the phones internal memory to add and delete ringtones. It seems they did not even develope a function to delete them at all.
News update
I too just tried getting into the internal memory on the KIN 1 and 2. Updating Windows Drivers will not help you any at all. So, here is something I tried and worked. Connect KIN to PC. Go to Zunes web site and click on Products and then click on Install Software. Leave KIN connected to PC through USB. After you install the software. Follow the Instructions and then it should grant you access into the Internal Memory. BUT... The downfall is that you HAVE to use the ZUNE software to access ANY Information on your PHONE... Until they adjust the software and drivers on Microsoft's End... Hope this Helps... Good Luck!
Yea I have Zune and use that to sync the typical files (videos, music, etc). But cannot access hidden stuff like ringtones. Which right now I can only text to myself and never...ever, be able to delete once its installed. There is no function to do so. I just wish developers stop locking away ringtones on these phones. I really feel its pointless to pay for a song I already have to be cut up and used as a ringtone. Ugh.
Would it be possible for you to write a quick guide on how to get bitpim to show KIN phones? this would lower the dificutly for a ton of people and really open the market of kin uses who want to edit their phone

So finally it's available now.
However on my TyTN only values for RSSI (field strength) and RXqual are showing up.
I'm sure we will be able to fix that with the help of this kind guy, who shared this application with us [I hope he is responding].
Assumably some registry keys have to be set to invoke display of all parameters.
updated the wiki so this reaches more people and hopefully someone can help.

Hi,
I have doopod 838pro, i was trying to connect it with the QPST/QXDM (qualcom diagnostic software installed on leptop) but i cannot as the phone is detected as HTC Modem and not as dignostic COM port. Do you know if there is any driver/software/command for open the dignostic port for detect it as COM on the device manager?Any idea or other solution?
Thanks a lot,
Hi,
Im not sure you'll be able to do that.
The Qualcomm's MSM chipset on the Hermes handle the radio while the applications handled by a different processor (Samsung), unlike what is happening on feature phones.
The data-com connector is controlled by the application processor so no Q's communication is available :-(
Happy new year from the Holyland.
Thank Dukas,
Happy new year to you!
If you have any idea let me know.....thanks a lot,

HOWEVER, TomTom came yesterday with some kind of help in that matter. when TomTom asks you to configure external GPS receiver, it also lists all available COM ports. guess what - one of the ports was described as 'RIL on COM6:' - ha! i'm guessing, RIL is accessible through that port, but usual AT commands don't work, so there must be some other way of doing it...
Try these two drivers. tell me the results

mhmm ok, but *just* these drivers will not give us that tons. i mean, what also we need is that diagnostic software, right?
this is a reply to rfmanganaro who was asking how to connect QXDM to Hermes
Any idea how to connect QPST to Hermes?
Thanks austin,
I am having some problems on the drivers installation you provided (i don`t know how and where install those) Can you help me?
Drivers for mobile or laptop?
How and where should i install it?
Sorry to disturb you again and Really thanks a lot,
You can buy the software from Qualcomm, this software is used for Radio network optimization and mobile test/debugs, not sure if it is available somewhere in the web.To this software you can connect any qualcomm chipset mobile and monitor all L1,l2 and L3messages, record, show and record radio measurements for HSDPA,R99 and off course connect true GPS for g data collection. Is something similar (but much more complete than the TEMS, COUEI, NETMIZER, NEMO.....)
But how do we install the drivers?
The files posted contain SYS files.
These are sys files but the Modem in the Hermes has its own driver already.
If you try to do an 'update driver' and point to a directory with these sys files in it, they don't work.
I think you also need a .inf file to go with these, or alternatively, mabe there is something needed in the Hermes to start up the modem in a different way.
Any ideas?
Hi irvis, austin,
I tryied but it doesn`t work by updtae HTC modem driver (the .inf file is requested).
Austin, can you provide the .inf file or any other idea of how to install it?
i am sure is possible,
Thanks a lot!
I spent a lot of time getting the 6800 to sync under linux. Finally, using synce, I have done it, all access to the phone.
Now I want to tether. I have noticed under wm6, the wmodem app is in \windows folder, but it will not start. I know you used to have to enable it via a ## code, but it wont work on the 6800.
So I either need to figure out how to get the wmodem app to work under wm6, so i can have the phone emulate a modem. Or, the second option being to possible use ndiswrapper to use it, since it does show up as a generic rndis device, and under my system as soon as i plug it in (with adv net. function tab checked under connections>usb to pc) it shows up as an ethernet device.
Please linux users jump in and lets figure this out!!
I'm not a big linux user, but this would be very good to know!
I know they tethered the iphone by setting up some sort of proxy on the phone then tethering via wifi, surely this could also be possible using windows mobile given the right app. Please dont tell me im the only linux user out there that cares!!
BTW.. the iphone runs a modified *NIX/BSD im jealous
EDIT: I have also been successful in use the program 'synce' to initiate an activesync connection with the pda. Doesnt pdanet tunnel through a connection like this?? surely there are some fancy iptables or route commands to accomplish this in linux.
USBModem
USBModem is supposed to be able to work with Linux.... There is a free trial to check out.. I'm planning on using it once the Asus Eee comes out..
http://www.mobile-stream.com/usbmodem_wm.html
usbmodem will only give you some dialup scripts which wm6 DOES NOT supoport over usb. I did however solve my problem. The svn version of synce's usb-rndis-lite is the holy grail.

Can you post the resources you used, or the steps you took, to accomplish this? I'd like to tackle that problem before getting into tethering.
I see the device in dmesg as an RNDIS device (not handled by the ipaq module), but then I can't get multisync or synce to do anything with it after that. All I need to do is save my contacts, and be able to transfer files. I'm going to be replacing my Mogul soon, and I'd like to be able to restore everything once I get the new one. But in my apartment, windows machines are a rare commodity.
Can you post a wlkthrough as I joined the site for practically this very reason. Thanks in advance

Hey there!
Okay, long story short:
I've got a Toshiba Intermec CN3 device (has USB Host controller) I would like to develop a driver for a USB scanner. Can anybody give me some tips on what needs to be done in order to achieve this?
The problem is that i can't get the Windows Mobile Platform Builder/Developer... because it's way to expensive.
I was thinking of trying to port the USB Scanner Support for Linux...
I know it might sound silly but i looked everywhere and i couldn't find something like this already done. Do you know of any similar drivers?
Thanks guys!
one dont require the platform builder to make or install a driver
for wm
a search for something like this could get you in the general direction of developing
devices drivers for windows mobile
http://www.google.dk/search?source=...+mobile&btnG=Google-søgning&meta=lr=&aq=f&oq=
The guy who started this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480899&highlight=zeno+usb - will probably have some answers or tips.
Thank you both for replying.
@Rudegar i don't think you've understood my question ... i don't want to develop a driver for windows XP/Vista that will support a WM device.... what I need is to write a driver to be installed ON a specific windows mobile device that is capable of USB Hosting.
So the way i see it, when you connect a scanner (for example) to the device, the device should then recognize the scanner make it possible for the user to scan documents (for example) directly from the device...
@aiiro i've already pm'ed the guy, hopefully he'll notice my message
I'm looking to enable Blue-tooth file transfer, as I don't want to have to plug in my phone to my laptop everytime I want to exchange files. Is this possible?
Hi,
Yes,
Just open the Bluetooth settings in Settings -> Menu -> All Settings
?
I know how to open a Bluetooth connection, I want to know how to transfer files from my laptop to my phone, and vice versa. Any clue on how to do that?
Right click on file, send to, Bluetooth? Would be a good idea to say what OS you're on.

You'll need to pair the devices first if you haven't already.
What operating system are you using on your laptop? Windows? Mac?
Laptop OS is Windows 7, and T-Mobile USA HD2, the devices are already linked. What would be the next step? Any help is appreciated.

Have you connected the phone via ActiveSync using the USB cable yet?
Its not necessary to do so, but it might make things a bit quicker.
When you right-click on a file on your laptop, and hover your mouse pointer over "Send To", do you have "Bluetooth Device" listed?
They are linked, and they recognize each other, but when I right click on a picture and go to "Send to" there is no option for Bluetooth Devices. Are there any options that should be checked on the phone or computer?

Is there a Bluetooth icon down by the clock on the Start/Task bar?
If so, right-click on it and go to Open Settings.
Under "Connections" (about halfway down the window) do you have both tickboxes ticked?
Yea, they are both checked. It tries to install a driver and fails when I attempt to troubleshoot the phone.
Just to bring you my experience. I do not have a BT dongle on my desktop which runs seven x64 yet I prefer to use the usb cable which is always plugged, yet the few times I installed a bt dongle here I could quite easily send files, even if I don't remember the exact path
Anyway, with my ubuntu laptop it's as immediate as choosing "browse files on <devicename>" and it just opens the microsd contents, where you can transfer files to/from, so probably there's something similar in windows that I am forgetting about?
What I know is that as soon as you have BT working on your PC it shoudn't need a driver, the OBEX protocol is a standard so no matter what device you connected, if it offers OBEX, the pc knows how to handle transfers no matter what the device is

What you have with your Ubuntu laptop, is exactly, while it would be awesome to be able to send and recieve files back and forth from the two devices, what would be ideal is the ability to browse through the contents of the device, and MicroSD, wirelessly over BT. I'm wondering if Windows 7 offers something like that or maybe a certain program for 7, might offer that functionality.

Windows Mobile Device Center should already be installed and offers that.
Also you have to enable Bluetooth file transfer (object push) in bluetooth settings in order for your phone to receive anything. No idea why this is disabled by default.

Sigh.. can someone who has the drivers installed on their PC zip up the directory and upload it somewhere for me (I don't have WindowsMediaPlayer 11 - nor do I want to - installed on any PC in my house). Thus, I can't install their stupid drivers. I can provide an FTP to upload to.
Thanks.
Sure, if it's not that, I'm not sure what else it is. This needing a driver to use this as a drive is the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

Thanks, I managed to get it working, I had to install WMP 11 though (got the driver from another PC, it installed but didn't allow copying files). Pain in the ass if you ask me.
I understand the driver portion for using the Acer Sync crap, which I'd likely never use, but some may. There should at least be an option to enable "block device only" and let us use the damn thing like a USB drive though. Maybe once we get some SMB/CIFS hacked into the kernels it won't be such a pain just to copy files.
is there a way to send files from ur pc directly like you would with the og droid?
f-droid.org has an ftp server if that's what you mean.
no like when i hook my og droid to the pc it shows up as a removable drive. then i high light the file i want to send and send. i dont have a genuine copy of windows and cant install win media player 11 nor want to. is the another driver to this action work?
muqali,
When you say USB are you not talking about hooking the miniUSB
to USB cable that came with the A500 to a PC and communicating?
If so, all you have to do is download the USB driver from the Acer
Support site and run the "Setup".
Then you can copy back and forth just like the G-Tablet.
Did I miss something??
Rev
why the hell is the Iconia A500 USB driver 89mb? :-/
edgemaster,
I think it has more functions built into it than just straight USB. I think it also will function with ADB. And I have noted that when I work on my G-Tablets, my PC has
started picking up this driver to use instead of the ones I was using with the G-Tablets.
Just an idea....
Rev
ok what am i missing? every time i try to install the driver i get a error saying that win media player 11 has to be installed on my pc. help pleez
Because you need WMP11 installed on your PC. Which sucks, why they'd make a driver like that at all is beyond me.
Someone tried to manually copy the driver and it still didn't work. You do actually need more crap than just the driver to use it.
thanks thats what i needed to know is there a work around this without streaming
