Hermes and water :( - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hey guys , i need some help here..
I dropped my Jasjam in the water , and now i've got a lot of problems :
1 - My Keyboard backlight sensor ain't working anymore , the keyboard is lit all time , this is really annoying and eating my battery , a fix , software , anything ?
2 - The Keyboard keys r going crazy , ex. when i press v it writes dv , when i press e it writes eg , when i press "space" it writes "c " , this is very annoying too coz i can't use it to write and i hate touch writing.
Both r hardware probs , i know , but maybe there is a software fix or something for the first prob.
Is there a way around prob 2 without opening the phone coz i can't do that , is there a way i can dry the water beneath the keys or something
BTW : i've tried hardreset , different roms , keyboard layout , etc. nothing worked.
Help Plzzzzz

I hope, you took the battery out as soon as it was possible...
Take it out again, and let it dry for a couple of days. It's still wet inside.
You might also use a hairdryer, but carefully, don't fry it!
If this doesn't help, you'll have to go to a store equipped with an ultrasonic cleaner.

Sorry mate but you'll really want to open that phone, especially the plastic cover.
You just need to find a torx screw driver with sizes between 1-5 [I forgot the specific ones you'll need] and a tiny frearson screw driver [that the + shaped hole].
Considering the age of the TyTN, it's probably no longer under warranty anyway.
Air drying without opening it can take months, seriously

Thanks all ,
Sadly , i didn't remove the battery at all.
I don't know if it's still wet , i mean the phone is working fine just the keyboard light and crazy keys problem.
Sadly too , i can't seem to find this screwdriver here in Egypt
And yes of course , the warranty is no more.
I may try the hairdryer , hope it works...
BTW : what plastic cover do u mean ??
Again thnx 4 help guys ...

Ive fixed a few "wet" phones (even my own old tytn 1 that fell into a river) by turning it of as soon as possible, take everything apart(stylus, battery,sd-card etc) shake as until all visible water is gone and put it all into a bowl of rice. that has fixed 2 phones, the other 4(inluding my tytn 1) i had to disassamble totally(unscrew, take apart housing, disconnecting flatcables and so on) and then put all parts into a kitchentowel and then onto a plate and into my kitchenown on about 60 degrees celsius for few hours - assemble and voila =) truth be told, it dosnt always work but i just might.
good luck

another way
remove your battery ASAP
Electric + water = corrosion
when this happened to me with mp3 player, I put it in the car for 3 days.
when parking in the outside, The car gets to 50-60 degree inside (Even more)
if your phone is in the car, it will dry, no damage will happen to it.

The devil Makes Work For idle Hands !!

Just a quick word of warning to anyone remotely thinking of dismantling their trinity.
BE VERY , VERY CAREFUL.
For a couple of weeks there I was getting a weird rattle from the topside of my spv m700 ( up near speaker housing ) and as it wasn't affecting the phone I disregarded it . ( fool ! ) Anyhoo , after doing some quick research I found out that it could be the small screw next to the vibrator unit that had come loose - so I took the plunge and opened the case up , using plastic tweezers ( ouch ) and the correct torx driver , sure enough the culprit was the small screw - lying down next to sim card housing now , which had come from near to the vibrator unit , so I stuck it back in , tightened it up ( not too tight- i thought ) and reassembled.
Nothing , phone buttons all lit up at bottom , nothing on display , all sounds seemed to be ok.
A week later on and , now after a disastrous re-assemble my power button has fell off the mainboard , and still no display.
Be very very careful , even though the phone seems to be fine except for no display , I now have no power switch due to the fiddling around trying various methods to narrow down the fault.
I probably tightened the screw up too much.
E-bay beckons........
Good luck.
I am so glad that you have POSTed your problem because in the last few days mine has started this rattle in the exact same way (definutly sounds like a small screw come completly loose).
I was thinking of cracking the lil'sucker open and sorting it out but now I think I can live with it untill my upgrade.
Has this problem happened to alot of people or just a select few?
Thank you
It's a common fault in trinitys as far as I know.
The fix is very ,very , easy , just be careful which way you 'split' the casing, as this is where I feel I may have maybe 'pinched' the display flex ribbon....best to use something plastic and blunt
If you feel you can live with it then thats fine , it seems likely that it doesn't really have much room to go anywhere , although as I said , mines ended up down near the sim card housing.
All the best.

[Q]Elf freezes with official & cooked ROM?

Hello!I got a HTC elf for about 2 months and i got some problems with him for about some time it freezes from sudent without doing anything and sometimes the power goes off and doesn`t want to turn on anymore,i do not know what to do with him now. Please help me
PS: The phone is bought second-hand in case it helps but this happens only for about 2 weeks
man HTC touch elf phones are quiet delicate also (from its back side).
i believe you might have fallen it somewhere hence its back side of the phone has become loose so hence it would loosen up the battery...every tym you pressure at its back side I to had a similar enigma, i just tighten the back part and later it worked properly..
Anyone can give me some more details about this kind of problem and solution to this please maybe a tutorial with pictures?
did u drop your phone?? i used to drop my phone alot aswel and so had the problems of turning off time snd again too! probably th battery has loosen abit..try keepin a thin paper/cover over th batt/under the batt cover to make it fit tight! about the freezing problems i didnt have any..might b bcoz ur phone is old(2nd hand) - or having inner circuit problems maybe!
It felt for about 2 times but was with the housing on it and i do not think it had suffered anything but i will try tomorrow to put something on the back cover of the battery to see if it has any results. And about the problem with freezeing i disasambled the mainboard and made it with contact spray so i don`t think it does that because it isn`t make a good contact something or things like this, and the problem is that it does power on very hard after the freezing and sometimes it just goes off from sudent and do not want to power on any more. The phone is SH but when i bought it it didn`t had any of this problems
Hello again!I have tried your ideea with putting something betwean the battery and the back cover but it steel freezes do not know what to do with it anymore!please help me solve this problem!!!(
probably the plastic piece will solve ur problems.

I allready tried this and for a moment i thought the problem was solved but after abot 3h the device was power off but after yesterday (cuz sunday i disasambled the device) i didn`t happened anymore but today the device was low battery and i do not know why cuz yesterday morning i took him from the charge..very bizzar isn`t it?:-?
Mine started to have the same problem, I have it for two years and no problems until now. I cared about it very well, so no fall-downs or scratches. I updated everything in SW I could but it doesnt solve the problem. I also replaced the battery, no effect. I think it will be electronic issue. Wish someone could help us...
Hi,
I think I had the same problem:
- the phone froze in standby (sometimes after 30min, sometimes after more than 5 hours).
- if standby is disabled it NEVER froze (but i had to charge battery one a day).
flashing was no solution (tried blue elves, onyx and tess).
i shipped it to htc-repair-center three times, but they could not repair my device (altough they tried and shipped it back to me DEFECTIVE).
Now I have a replacement Elfin which works perfectly.
So nobody has a solution for this?
Has anyone found a solution for this cuz i tried the plastic thing but nothing seems to solve the problem i disasambled the elf and put contacts spray wd40 on it and heated but nothing the phone still goes off and freezes i still use the plastic things over the processor but i think that it does this because the processor is overheated and thats why it freez and turn off and do not whant to turn on maybe someone had tested to put a piece of aluminium in stead of the plastic thing to cool the processor?
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.

[FIX] Finally! Fix your Xperia keyboard by yourself

Hello ,
now before I start you should that you will need to disassemble the rear of your phone , If you think you cant then PLEASE dont try this .
THIS IS A FAST TUT , I WILL MAKE ANOTHER ONE LATER ON WITH PICTURES , hopefully when I make my second topic one of you guys will remake it with better english =)
# There is no other way to do this , no program no .cab , nothing without a disassembly .
# You will need 2 micro screwdrivers (one + & one - ) which can be found everywhere for less than a 1$
# a Guitar pick or any piece of plastic ,use it to separate the parts instead of using the screwdriver , we all know how the Xperia is easy to break =\
# a tooth brush & a hair dryer .
I had enough of the keyboard lags & honestly having a phone with a QWERTY keyboard that doesn't work is just useless. Today I decided to fix my phone till the X2 comes out in Dubai , heres what I did in simple steps
~1~
Disassemble the rear of your phone using this video :
Xperia X1 - Disassembly Rear
# its VERY easy & doesn't need a lot of brains , but again if you think you cant do this
PLEASE DON'T!
# the sides of the phone are very very thin & can be broken easily so be careful.
# No need for the gay gloves & all the other useless things its a phone not a nuclear bomb.
~2~
Take the keyboard chip & grab a glass of water , soak it in ( Yes soak it) but keep the left side out of the water ( the side where the yellow wire is attached to the keyboard )
leave it for a few second & go get a tooth brush.
~3~
Wet the tooth brush & start cleaning the rear of the chip , soak it again & then use the tooth brush again , make sure you clean the nets or whatever its called on the back of the chip
~4~
Take the hair dryer & start blowing the hot air on the rear on the chip to dry it off , If you look at the front of the chip you will notice that there is water under .
you will need to remove the FIRST layer which is the transparent one but not completely start with one end & leave the other end attached so you can stick it again as it use to be.
Remove the second layer which has the silver buttons on it , & blow air under it.
#Make sure everything is completely dry under every layer otherwise you will fry your phone or at least the keyboard chip.
~5~
Stick the layers back together carefully but firmly & make sure everything is at the right spot. test each & every button & blow hot air here & there just to make sure. put your phone back together Start the phone & TADA ! works like a charm
I hope I helped , my keyboard works perfectly now , no more retarded on screen keyboard !!!
Goodluck people
Marry X-mas & happy new year
i did as u said... it is not too hard... now it works better but still not perfect...
Sadly for me nothing change.
The keyb is yet clean.

I have cleaned mine like 3 months ago and still working perfectly. I have not done the blow dry thingy. I cant remember the chemical i used but i think it has an alcohol content. i thoroughly clean the board and the white plaster with silver buttons. i think, the glue used is spreading over time. So it really has to be cleaned.
TIP:
To return that white part onto the board, use a pin. There is actually a small whole on both parts to ensure it will be placed back properly.
how did u guys open the top two 6 pointed screws? I took my smallest size 6 point and it wasnt small enough!

You need that gloves to make your stupid brain not to be corrosive.

My HTC Hero Screen - Need Help Please

Hi,
My HTC hero screen has problem . Touch problem . Down part from the middle aint working at all .
Upgraded the phone in all possible ways ( ROM - ... ) , didnt work .
Any solution or idea would be GREAT
Regards
Sounds like a hardware failure, I'd contact HTC support.
Not dropped it or anything recently?
problem is that they dont have hero support in middle east ! i bought it from Sweden and now i'm in middle east .
is it possible that Touch Part has problem and need to be changed ?
Well, you can try an extreme way, by putting your phone in freezer (-10/20 celcius). Before don't forget to take off battery (dont put battery in freezer), then for 12 hours freeze your phone, then unfreeze for 12 hours, dry it, insert battery and switch on.
I don't know does this help, but I've heard that this could help in sensor displays.
As i said this is an extreme way, and may harm your phone (well if you don't dry it well).

Vertical Lines On Nexus 4 Display

Im a nexus 4 user. Used it since 3-4 months hardly. Not an Excessive mobile user.
My Phone rang Alarm as usually in the morning. And Suddenly few lines(Vertical Lines) imerged on the phone !!
Verify the Images !! .. Then immediately i checked battery Temp.. (it was 35 C). Booted to recovery and done a through wipe.
Which did not solve the issue... then i Flashed Stock image. Even then the issue was not resolved.
I then concluded myself that it is a " Hardware Issue " !!
I'm a resident of India and bought the phone from USA... So no warranty to Claim !!
Any Solution to this Problem is highly appreciated .!!
(Except screen Replacement, Anymore investment on this device is useless)
hmm , this is a serious problem .. however u may try this ..
1- sometime ago my phone with a lcd screen had many dead pixels , so i wrapped my phone with a plastic sheet , polythene .and keep it into deep freezer for 1 full night ( take care its tightly packed , as no water should enter phone). the next morning the screen was just like new , this method surely works for LCD screens .. but cant say bout IPS screen , but since ips screens are also a kind of lcd's so it may work ....
and if you try the above solution and run into some other problem , i am no way responsible for it..
......................................................AND BEFORE KEEPING IT INTO FREEZER U HAVE TO MANUALLY REMOVE THE BATTERY. DONT KEEP IT IN FREEZER WITH BATTERY STILL INSIDE.................
2-u may try to squeeze the screen from edges tightly and see if there is any pattern change of the lines coming , if yes the above method will most probably work .. if no its less probable..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659250&page=7 heres d proof that it works ...
Are these lines also visible once you boot into recovery or into the bootloader? Or do they appear only on fully loaded OS?
do they affect the digitizer?, I had this problem once, 5mins later it went away, it was a screen burn in when it crashed on twrp
