Im a nexus 4 user. Used it since 3-4 months hardly. Not an Excessive mobile user.
My Phone rang Alarm as usually in the morning. And Suddenly few lines(Vertical Lines) imerged on the phone !!
Verify the Images !! .. Then immediately i checked battery Temp.. (it was 35 C). Booted to recovery and done a through wipe.
Which did not solve the issue... then i Flashed Stock image. Even then the issue was not resolved.
I then concluded myself that it is a " Hardware Issue " !!
I'm a resident of India and bought the phone from USA... So no warranty to Claim !!
Any Solution to this Problem is highly appreciated .!!
(Except screen Replacement, Anymore investment on this device is useless)
hmm , this is a serious problem .. however u may try this ..
1- sometime ago my phone with a lcd screen had many dead pixels , so i wrapped my phone with a plastic sheet , polythene .and keep it into deep freezer for 1 full night ( take care its tightly packed , as no water should enter phone). the next morning the screen was just like new , this method surely works for LCD screens .. but cant say bout IPS screen , but since ips screens are also a kind of lcd's so it may work ....
and if you try the above solution and run into some other problem , i am no way responsible for it..
......................................................AND BEFORE KEEPING IT INTO FREEZER U HAVE TO MANUALLY REMOVE THE BATTERY. DONT KEEP IT IN FREEZER WITH BATTERY STILL INSIDE.................
2-u may try to squeeze the screen from edges tightly and see if there is any pattern change of the lines coming , if yes the above method will most probably work .. if no its less probable..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659250&page=7 heres d proof that it works ...
Are these lines also visible once you boot into recovery or into the bootloader? Or do they appear only on fully loaded OS?
do they affect the digitizer?, I had this problem once, 5mins later it went away, it was a screen burn in when it crashed on twrp

hay from today morning my htc touch shows a white screen and a crack on the bottom corner of the screen.i am sure that it dint fell down.
then what may be the problem?
anyone knows pls tell me...
white screen?
When you turn on your phone, there is no smart mobility.
Crack?
Is that an LCD problem?
i have the same problem with the WHITE SCREEN. bought my ELF 3450 second hand over the net. i am from the Philippines by the way and HTC units are not yet very common here and also the parts/accessories. it worked fine for about 3 months with minor problems such as Auto-Restart/Auto Power On/OFf which was solved using the "plastic on the OMAP chip method" - tnx for the forum for the info by the way and charging problems which was also solved by buying me a aftermarket charger. but recently the problem of AUTO OFF occurred again until it did not work at all. so, i tried to check the Plastic over my chip but to no avail the fone was dead. so, i decided to head to one of our local cellphone repair shops and have my OMAP heated thinking that maybe there are just contact points inside who became loose. when we tried to power on it was good for a few minutes then i noticed the screen went darker and darker and then it was all WHITE. we restarted it but it's just WHITE. tried to send messages and call it but there is no response from the fone. i'm afraid i toast it bad or may be it's just the LCD who got toasted, i am clueless.
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME WITHMY PROBLEM. CAN I GIVE LIFE BACK TO MY ELF? WHAT'S THE CHEAPEST & BEST SOLUTION TO THIS? THANX ...
Generally white screen problem are caused by defects in flex connecting the LCD to the mainboard or the connector itself. Try to disconnect and reconnect the LCD, if doesn't work - replace the LCD.

You warmed the OMAP? Interesting....
This problem sounds really complicated.
And im quite surprised of your 'warming' method.
I've had the exact same problem combined with the fact that my touch was resetting constantly. I was about a minute away from throwing it out of the window when I tried the plastic-piece-on-omap processor-technique described in one of the threads here. It solved the rebooting problem, but not the white screen issue. After a very frustrating couple of days where the screen started to blink and shake and then eventually turned to white alltogether, I lowered my brightness to the second stop from start, and since then I haven't experienced the white screen anymore. I believe it is heatrelated.
Whilst not being a full solution to the problem, at least it renders the phone usable.
Hope this helps anyone.
Heating the device very seldomly solves anything, but causes more problems that you originally started with.
iam using htc touch (p 3450) for nearly 18 months . (bought & using it in india ) my hand set fell two times in water and about 15 times fell on the floor (from shirt pocket) . still its working fine .
and iam using "opera mini " for browsing the internet . for some sites iam using "opera mobile " . when iam on opera mini , continueously for long ours , suddenly it turns white . never come to normal screen unless restarted . but it happens sometimes , may be because of memory or heating up of some H/W .
Hi hotchamo,
my htc touch elf hat a similary issue, and my father just "wringed" it gently until the white screen disappeared. You should try it carefully, since it may help and it won't harm. Just take in in both hands and turn them in the opposite direction, so that the case gets slightly twisted.
If that doesn't help you should open it and check the LCD flat cable connector...
Best regards,
scheutak
Again - flex connector problem. 'Wringing' it gently will eventually result in your LCD cracking, by all means - go for it, it will solve your white screen problem. Permanently.
i got a crash i resetted ther phone .
after that phone works but the screen stays verry dark.
as if the backlight is broken.
i can see verry little on screen since its just so dark.
phoen works i can get phone cals etc but i just cant see a thing.
whats the problem . is my screen broken ?
please explain the word "crash".
did it fell down or did just windows crash?
if windows crashed and it didnt fall down, you can call htc or go to the shop where you bought it.
DN41
i got an sms .
then phone stopped working .
the touch screen didnt work anymore and i had to take the battery out.
i put it back in and turned on phone.
phone worked but screen stayed dark , i can see something things on screen but its verry dark.
now i put it on the charger and battery was goin empty verry fast even thoug it was on the charger it didnt seem to recharge .
while in the charger the phone was getting verry hot also . so i cant do a thing now .
edit .
im thinking isnt it just possible that since the battery looks dead, that the screen just isnt getting enough power to be lighter ?
since both problems came at the same time i guess they must be connected in some way .
i mean is it possible that a new battery solves the problem or isnt it worht ordering a new battery ?
CRashed ...from a window
My phone crashed too... Crashed onto a carpetted floor from a window (about 5 feet) while being charged, and landed on the edge of a barbell. What was it doing there u ask? I wanted to get the best 3g reception thats why. I use it as my main modem/router y'see...
Yes i got a really dark screen too, and two vertical bright lights. the screen was alright, no cracks, nothing. but the buttons was dented since it landed on the barbell(which was on the floor ).
Sent to the shop and told me it'll cost me about 170usd to fix the lcd,..and said it's gonna cost another 50 usd to fix the touch screen. Knowing the shop was b.s'ing since i know the lcd could just be the only one affected so i plan to buy just the lcd. did a few practice disassembly, and eventually after the 3rd disassembly and reassembly the screen was completely dark...even if it did lit up, i cant see any image.. so i guess i'll just get the lcd+touch screen. since i dont wanna go through the hassle of soldering the fine connection anyway, i decided to buy the lcd+touchscreen online cositng about 140usd..
well, obviously mine's a hardware problem.. Buy yeah I'd say that the hd2 is sooooooooo fragile, your hd2 problem might be mainboard related.
ps. still waiting for my replacement lcd+touch.. who knows if mine is motherboard related too(since the buttons get hot, but i can still recieve calls+use as a modem)

if you can see the screen at all, you might check your backlight settings to make sure they didn't reset to like 10%.
Otherwise, I would take it in to get fixed. Sounds like the backlight died.
Have you hard reset to make sure it isn't a software issue?
Hello,
I have my Galaxy tab 10.1 for 3 or 4 months now, and since yesterday the screen started to flicker. I noticed that if I turn the screen off for like 10 minutes and then turn it on again, the flicker disappear, but starts again after 5 mins of use. Seems that the most the screen remains "on", the worst the flicker gets..
Anyone had this issue? Know a soloution or I will have to return it?
Thanks!
Definitely a hardware problem. Send it in for service.
mine had similar problem, a visit to Samsung service center and confirmed by the technician it is a hardware damage.
What is the problem ?
My tablet swtiches on just fine . After around 5 minutes , the display becomes fuzzy garbled shaky , like some interference is happening . Looks like the problem is hardware ( as I tried reset / ice cream etc ... ). I think its something about the heat sink or some kind of CCFL problem.
Will this require replacement of the LCD Panel / Display ? I am worried if the Samsung dealers would actually find the exact cause and replace accordingly ?
I dont have a warranty so if it involves a LCD replacement , then I will have to shell as much as a half a tablet . Also if they need to give a guarantee if they fix something ... I read about a person who had the same problem .... and the issue reappared after fixing it from Samsung centers in India.
If you're on a custom ROM, then it's just the ROM, your tablet is safe.
I had the same issue today with my tab. Other symptoms were that some programs were fine, my RAM was maxing out as I watched, and Tibu said I had 8Kb of system ROM free (i.e. it was filled completely).
I killed a few system apps, deleted, wiped cache and dalvik cache, and rebooted. Fingers crossed, but working now for a few hours.
Spoke too soon. The flickering came back. It flickers for some apps, not for others. And I get a perfect screen in portrait orientation, but problems in landscape. I think I'm going to wipe and start over. That way, with a clean stock, I can tell whether the problem is hardware or software.
Service centers didnt take it in India
I went to Bangalore service center but they were reluctant to offer any support.
I will try another service center though .
The problem is hardware as I tried ICE cream and stock rom both ... having the same problem .
I dont know what to do ? What can be reason for the screen to become fuzzy and unclear after 5-10 minutes ? Something to do with the heat ?
Mu hunch is 1) Something is getting over heat and causing the LCD panel some problem .
2) LCD Panel is getting heated too fast . CCFL ? I dont know what to look for .
Any advices ?
I've managed to stop the flickering display.
1) Toss the AP widget in the trash
2) Toss the AccuWeather widget in the trash
3) Get rid of the default Samsung apps & widgets
4) Set the task killer to kill them any time they start
5) Change the wall paper to something lower res
It is a hardware issue
Samsng allowed extended warrarny period and asked me to ship the produt back to the US . So I am going to do that now .
Hello,
My Gtab 10.1 just started doing this a week ago. I have been using a custom ICS rom (task 650) since I purchased it, and I had no problem with it until last week. It does exactly what you guys are saying:
- it works fine for the first 10 minutes, then starts flickering
- the more you keep it on, the worse it gets
- it works ok in portrait mode (most of the time with little flickering from time to time)
- it works fine for some programs, and flickers like hell in others.
I tried the following without any luck
- cool it down (put something freezing on its back)
- shake it
- installed several custom and stock roms (although I didn't find the exact stock rom for my model --> p7510MA as written on its back).
I have no warranty and I need to know if any one managed to know what the problem is... may be I can buy a replacement part from ebay and save some bucks.
hello everyone , i have a mytouch 4G that had the good chip and good display , so that has nothing to do with the problem . my actual problem is that i attempted to do a digitizer repair on my own , and it went successfully , i put the phone back together and i turn it on , the phone vibrated and made boot sound but the screen did not light up, it remained black , i opened the phone like litterily more than 6 times to try disconnecting and connecting the lcd connector and nothing.
to this day it still doesnt light up at all, and now after trying at it one more time the phone doesnt even boot anymore , i cannot turn it on by power button , and when i connect the charger the light is orange , phone vibrates once , then turns green . this is the most i can get out of my phone .
when i was repairing my phone i used a hair dryer to soften up te adhesive , which is the correct way to do it right ? i put the hair dryer directly to the lcd if that probally done anything . and there is a chance i probally scraped a ribbon thats above the lcd on the front when i tried to pry it out
should i just give up on my phone ? or should i try to get professional help and get ready to chuck up 100 bucks for a repair , i am asking if there is nothing i can do.
p.s. i would realllllly like to avoid buying a lcd , cus it would suck if i spend 20-something bucks on a lcd and just to have find out its something else (since the phone currently wont even boot)
the phone probably won't boot b/c you may have ripped out the flex cable for the power button. i made this mistake myself a couple month ago and it cost me like $20 to get a new one. as for the lcd, i'm not sure. you may have to get a new one
Hey fellas ,
I cracked the screen of my Nexus 4 and installed a replacement.
It's been approximately a month now.
Sometimes when i restart the device the touchscreen doesn't work and i have to restart it again and again until it starts to work. I noticed that when i put one of my fingers anywhere on the touchscreen (around the display not the bezels) , it starts to work and recognizes only one finger whereas i have two on the display , when i remove one the touchscreen doesn't work again. So , i have to restart sometimes just once sometimes a lot of times to get it to work.
I have intricate knowledge of the touchscreens and how they work but i can't put my finger on this problem. It looks like a capacitance issue because when i put two fingers it recognizes one , sometimes it needs 3-4 fingers on the screen to recognize only one.
My original one still works but has a bad lcd (colors are all messed up) because my clumsy attempt to repair it resulted in failure , i tried it and the original one works without a hitch. The only thing i haven't tried is to remove the battery. I installed everything when the battery was still on , the screws are too flat for any of my screwdrivers. But i hotplugged the original one and it worked. So , that's probably not the problem. I just shut it down with 3 of my fingers on the screen. Waited for it cool down and then reopened it , it worked. Whether this is a thermal issue or not , it needs further testing on my part. I'm currently not willing to find out because i just had to restart 5-6 times to get it to work and i need it to work constantly for the next couple of days.
I can't return this because i already got a full refund and the seller didn'T ask for a return , he said to keep it. He advertised it as genuine but it was aftermarket. So , this assembly was free folks. I broke it and got away with it. We gotta get this working without any problems so i can sell it when nexus 6 comes out.
disconnect touch, power on phone without touch, disconnect battery. After that connect touch and power on your phone:good::good::good:
same problem here...
And I see the problem at a lot of other forums too... no sollution... have you found a workaround?
I'm too late to ask for a refund...
