P Internet Explorer Help - Windows Mobile

Anyone have a definitive ie7 package for winmo 6.5.3?
I have been cooking with the one that came with the SYS - 23569 at th mo - but it just seems so buggy. Some sites - notably this one! - take forever and a day to load, even when I know my connection speeed is good. And downloads never seem to complete, altho hooked up to the laptop they are fine - or in opera.
Am I missing something basic here? Is pie really that crap???
Answers such as 'use opera/skyfire/etc' not acceptable
Peace

No2Chem nueROM 2.0 (WM6.1)

If anyone is interested a WinMo 6.1 ROM has been released, you can find it on PPCGeeks here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17219
I've only had it on there for all of 5 minutes but it seems really fast and has some nice features built in. The clock on the start bar has a next appt thing and the sms threading is pretty nice. I didn't like the SMS Threader program but this works well.
Is this 6.1 with GPS activated or without?
*edit - I see it says it's based on 3.16 w/GPS. I guess I should've read the link first.*
Although some of this is a repeat from the other forum, I will still post my reactions:
OS seems quick
Phone Speaker seems louder
Very Clean - Not many Junk Programs
MS Office One Note (I actually use it! :-D)
Internet Sharing Worked No Problems (Used to say invalid User/Pass)
Includes:
-Query Analyzer (SQL stuff?)
-Task Manager (Prettier)
So far, and it has only been 8 hours, I recommend it!
Since this is based on 3.16 I'm guessing that the same download/disconnect problems are around? I had to downgrade back to 2.17 because 3.16 just didn't work
No problems for me so far.

Mach5 web acceler!!! awesome on the X1

OMG! has anyone tried the Mach5 web aceller browser for windows mobile on their x1s? This browser is freaking the best ever!!! it renders pages way faster than opera mobile, way faster than skyfire, and in way better quality!!!! has neat settings like, page width (800 pixels or 1024 pixels),Pc or mmobile viewing, double click zoom ratio, you also have an option to use a sliding zoom, wich also has a orientation changer wich works on the spot!!! But best of all it suprts ajax, flash!!(yes flash, you can watch youtube right in the browser, stop, play, or even change to full screen viewing!! guys really, if you havent checked it out, try it, youll love it!!!
hmmm. i go to investigate...be back with results
strboy, please let me know when you have results!
it sounds promising =D
OK....checked it out, its not free. and nowhere on the website does it state how much it is, or even a buy now option
it does say "Mach5 Web for Windows Mobile OPEN Free Trial is valid until the middle of May 2009."
you also have to fill out a form...name number..ect ect....Im not downloading for a few days trial...It doesnt seem worth it to me. if anyone else wants to the site is
http://www.netacceler.com/home/main.html
Dude, but of course your not goin g to be able to download from the official site! First of all you need a korean mobile number to download. I got it off the net, if you know what i mean, if you search you will find it. beleive me this is awesome!
tested youtube, works excellent, all videos, also tested facebook as well, and all videos in facebook work as well as(im not jking on this one)the instant messeging also works!!!!! this is just how a mobile browser should be.
Sounds a bit like advertisement. Anyway you don't have to put a real number. Just have a valid email
Hmm...is it allowed to ask for a cab here?
Because I guess it is just an advertisement and there is no cab floating anywhere...
Greets
Edit: Have found a cab file but browser cant connect to the internet...what a shame
Looks good though =)
just installed the trial version.
pretty good fast browser.
best thing it autodetects flash videos, like break.com and plays it in the built in player in medium/good quality.
here's the trial cab i got after filling in some fake address.
Looks awesome, sounds great... BUT.
1) It won't go, doesn't properly detect my internet connection.
2) Looks like you're gonna have to pay a monthly fee to use it.
EDIT: On a few later tries, I sometimes got it to load a page, but it would randomly disconnect. Very unstable.
well for me ii have no problems connecting at all, the only problems i found so far are:
1: the mouse or pointer for some reason it dont work, it just scrolls the page.
2: Video quality is excellent compared to Skyfire, but Skyfire has more compatibility with videos ex: apple trailers(skyfire can handle them, mach5 cant)
3:Of course that you have to pay for it. (dont know the version i have expires or not, cause i did not download from official site, will update if it does thou.)
My last impresions of this browser are:
1: very fast, a tas faster than Opera and just in par, or a bit slower than Skyfire
2:The quality of rendered pages are excellent compared to Skyfire, and about on par with Opera.
3:Video quality is way better than skyfire by a long shot!! but has less video compatibility.
Now only if skyfire ups their video and rendering quality it would blow this away. Except for the built in player of course wich is an awesome feature of mach5.
For now it stays on my x1 as an alternative. Very good, but not perfect.
just my 2 cents.
So to start it off, I must say WOW that this browser is def. something pretty interesting!! very smooth loads quick an works fast!! I have to say that im liking it so far an what it has to offer!! I also like how if you viewing a few pages an you click the button that shows how many pages ur on, you can swipe back an forth between them kinda like a cover flow!! To bad its on a trail issue an that then you prob have to buy it or something, that im not totally sure off but I hope to see more come from this company!!

when you see the screen where you have to put in a user ID and password, you have to tap on 'trial'.
Mach5 Web browser
Thanks for answer.
I did it (hit on 'trial'), but in doesn't run.
For me it says connecting... all the time!
Mah, want to try it out!

Can the people that have connection issues try to go to the comm manager manually and start the connection before opening mach5 to see if that works? just a though that might help. Now im just waiting for Opera Turbo to come out to see its greatness! Still with mach5 in my x1 working great, to bad i guess it will expire.I just wish they updated it, and made it freeware, or atleast a decent price, not onn a monthly basis, i mean if the little problems get washed out i dont mind paying $10 or $20 for this.
ajajajajaja this browser just gets funier!! iwent to dslreports.com and it allowed me to do the flash download test, with the speedometer in all its glory!! ajajaja Download speed 1363Kb/s Upload speed 1225Kb/s, of course not real speeds since this is server oriented, but just too funny, is like im on my real pc at home!!!
ajaja now y went to testmy.net(wich for some reason doesnt work with my opera) and i got 2517Kb/s download.

What is the battery hit like? That has been my problem when I tried Skyfire, it just drained my battery.

Perfect Combo?

I've been a member here for a few years now and i use my beloved Trinity a lot, especially for surfing the net (opera mini (java) opera mobile 8.5 and internet explorer are mostly what i use) i've noticed a lot of people seem to have very few issues with running WM6.5 but i find it almost impossible to use WM6.5 for surfing the net without it constantly freezing or resetting on me, so i was wondering, which combination of WM, SPL and Radio Roms is everyone else using and how is ur speed / stability in conjunction with these? I'd especially like to hear from those who use WM6.5.
It's more of a curiosity based question than anything else.
....win 6.5,trinity p 3600,radio 1.46,supersport rom translated from rubenalf with titanium, opera mini 5 beta ( veryvery good ),skyfire (good, little bit heavy if not in wifi ) internet explorer 7 or 8 Idon't remember ( slow and heavy ) -
- no crash almost at all - I had more problems with manila 2d in win 6.1 -
thanks donaglia, i think i'll give that combo a try.

godofwap; does your dream combo work fine? please share ur experience.
unfortunately i still found this combo to be a little tetchy at times, for example, whenever i switch to desktop mode on pie 8 it always froze before the entire page loaded, and for some reason whenever i ran opera mini 4.2 (java) it always seemed to close the java app, opera mobile 8.5 worked well for a time but had the same problem as pie 8 when it came to loading desktop view, sky fire was a complete no go, wouldnt even load, so far the best 6.5 combo i've used is:
nAr & Icke WM6.5 [build 21874.5.0.83] WWE Titanium Version (here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606027 )
Olipro hard spl 1.20
Radio Rom 1.46.30.11
I was always fully able to load desktop views on opera mobile 8.5 and pie, although it did take between 1-2 minutes to fully load at times, opera mini 4.2 still keeps crashing but i could live without using that for the time being, sky fire still would not work, the combo overall was very smooth and relatively quick considering the fact it wasnt origionally designed for our beloved trinitys, i'm now going to try WWE WM6.5 24001 UL by The.Decoy (here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5547181#post5547181 ) to see how it works out, i'll keep you posted.
btw, i'd like to say that i think all the chefs here do a fantastic job, this post is just to determine the best combination for myself and anyone else who wishes to follow suit. I wouldnt want anyone to think that i'm dissing their work, so keep it up

iplayer website not working fully with Opera 10 beta

I've trawled other thread on both Opera and iplayer, without success, hence opening this one.
Don’t ask me how, but I’ve ‘lost’ the version of Opera which was preloaded on my Vodafone UK HD2, probably by having moved the shortcut via which the browser used to open.
I have since installed Opera 10 beta, and changed the custom user agent to ‘HTC_Touch_HD_T8282’ as per other thread, which is fine, and gets me on to the iplayer site as a recognised/supported device.
BUT, when I click on the ‘play’ icon on the TV show I’ve selected, I get a message from iplayer saying they don’t allow overseas users to view the content. The same can be said for any radio content, live or catch=up.
I’m very much in the UK, and get the same issue whether I use the home or office wireless networks, or over the data connection which was auto-configured for me when I first started on my stock Vodafone UK HD2.
I can get the stream working on Skyfire, but not view it at all well, as it doesn’t open within the application which I used to use with the older version of Opera for streaming media such as that from iplayer.
I looked for an Opera support forum, but the ones I founds aren’t that enlightening. Posters on the slightly better Skyfire forums seem to think that it’s down to the server via which the request to the iplayer server is routed is non-UK, and they start talking about proxy server settings and the like, which means zilch to me I’m afraid.
I’d like to watch via my Opera browser, but I’m at a loss to what to do next. Has anyone any ideas? Do I need to tweak some Opera settings in opera:config, change some settings elsewhere on my device, or find a way of making the iplayer server think (as I indeed am) in the UK? Any help or suggestions anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated, please.
Oh, and the great looking iplayer app isn’t working, as I get consistent error code, which I’ve posted about on the thread for that app.

I remember reading some where that if you downloaded a US version of opera then it won't work. Try downloading a UK version (I could be talking rubbish though).
HD2 iplayer working in Opera 10 beta2
Hi I had a similar problem with my installed opera 9.7 on my vodafone hd2 which stopped working, & rather than factory reset the phone I installed Opera 10 beta 2 which is much better than 9.7 & i dont really miss the pinch zooming much. Anyway I got the same message that said iplayer only available to uk, and as i had recently checked the turbo option in the settings I decided to uninstal 10 beta2 & reinstal it but didnt check the turbo setting & went into the user pref & entered the ‘HTC_Touch_HD_T8282’ as per other thread, & also set the user agent to 2 instead of 1. I then saved & exited went into iplayer mobile & it works the only little niggle is the "download file - iplayer_streaming_n95_wifi.sdp" box which appears each time you want to use it. you have to click save & its only 4kb (THEN PRESS open to play the file) but it is annoying as opera 9.7 didnt bring it up. Im sure there is a setting somewhere that will do the streaming automatically but i havent found it as yet.
Re: Overseas user problem
In some situations (opera mini, new opera turbo mode, etc) opera route the traffic through their own proxy servers, so the bbc website sees their home as the connection country, which in the case of opera is norway,.
Just use myplayer instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501131
Thanks for all your suggestions
keith43 - You may be wrong, as I've searched and searched, and found nothing about a UK-specific version of the Opera 10 beta, or any other version in fact.
Samsamuel – Thanks for that. How would I route the traffic through a UK IP address, or fool the iplayer site into thinking that’s what I’m doing?
Shasarak – I did start to use myplayer, but to be honest didn’t find it the easiest to get on with, particularly when searching for programs. The iplayer app was better, but is no longer supported, apparently.
Rabidrat – Followed your tips, and now have iplayer working just fine. Brilliant! As you say, a little bit of a annoyance having to download a file for each program I want to view, but if it gets me to what I want to be doing, not a huge hassle I suppose. Am I right in thinking the site thinks I’m an N95? Isn’t that a Nokia device?

I suspect Keith was remembering something about Skyfire rather than Opera; it is possible to get Skyfire to use a UK-based proxy server which makes it compatible with iPlayer (although the result isn't that watchable - good resolution, but poor frame rate).

Well, whatever works for you.
Personally I find the video quality you get when using the Opera user-agent hack is so atrocious that I'd really rather not bother; myplayer downloads are still pretty bad quality, but at least they don't actually make my eyeballs bleed.
The latest version of myplayer (1.96) supports iPlayer categories, which helps a little with searches.
I am using Latest Opera 10 Beta 3, I get download "iplayer_streaming_n95_wifi.ram" message, then when i click open nothing happens. Any ideas?

I am on beta 2, and get offered the option to 'save'. If I then open it, I get the stream okay.
I have disabled the 'opera turbo' option and changed the user agent from '1' to '2' (as per rabidrat's post above).
i also have the custom user agent altered to 'HTC_Touch_HD_T8282’ as per the Leo hint and tricks thread.

here is the cab
Okay, question. why use the mini 5, when you can use the opera mobile beta 10?

When i am in the many areas i go to where t-mobile is gprs here in Illinois, it will TOTALLY come in handy. Much faster!
Yeah it would definetly help if your boosting 2g gprs signal..
If your like me an run 3g most of the time, then opera beta 10 is the best
Just my opinion...
And it's quite faster than Opera Mobile. I'd like to make it default browser. I have already tried the registry settings, it won't work. Any ideas?
I love opera mini in general, but this version for some unknown reason cannot accept my facebook username and pass. Thus I cannot login to that page, it just keeps refreshing when I hit Login.
This is only in FB, in other pages that require logging in everything goes fine..
Anyone else experiencing this?
great browser but how do u open email links and bookmarks from outside the browser I click em and it just opens the browser start screen not the page I want!
I had to turn the password autosave off in the settings so facebook could acepted password.
This release is brilliant! It is great for multitasking, which is a huge plus. Is there a way to make it the new default browser? (for opening links out of other applications, in my case MoTweets?

No problem here logging into faecesbook, but I don't think I've tried logging back into it yet.
I've never used Opera Mini, but it is pretty nice.. It doesn't draw very well though, I've tried several sites and it looks really bad.. Like http://geocaching.com the site is kind of organized in columns and the columns are quite narrow, and winds up drawing on top of itself.
Opera 10 beta 3 launched Veeeryy slow. It was the only reason for me , for deleting it for ever. Im going to try out the mini version.. thanks for the hint
I have installed opera mini 5 now, but on some pages, like
www.openingstijden.nu or m.opentot.nl it doesnt give any search Results.. can somebody test and confirm this please.

Because this version doesnt eat up 90% of the device's resources to run. I am constantly amazed that people use opera beta 10. You can run opera beta 10 and sense UI.... THATS IT. try to run anything else and your system starts complaining about memory.

I think that Opera 10 (and other versions of the "full" client) suffer more from the resource drain experienced overall in 6.5 vs 6.1; I'm running 6.1 as well, and I can run opera 10 and a bunch of other stuff (text, gmaps, music, etc) all at the same time.
Also, anybody using Opera 10 on 6.5 should try running the dynamic proxy resource and nopushinternet cabs to address memory use.
eff this thing! I cannot log into ANY websites, redbox, netflix, CAG..nothing that I have to input a user name or password and check a box to remember me. I guess I'll try to play w/ the 'save password' settings, but I'm back to using Skyfire until I figure it out..argh!!
To anyone using Mini: I know we all want to browse the web that looks mostly the same as on our home computers, and often that's nice, but try browsing with Mini in "Mobile View". It's really the best way to experience the web in Mini, it renders almost everything really nicely, no need for panning and zooming, you just scroll down the page in 1 direction and never miss anything. It's very nice and quick and easy for reading newsites and long articles and things like that.
I use Mini for this type of quick browsing and Mobile for anything more "heavy duty", it's a nice combo.
I would really like to set Opera Mini 5 as my default browser. If any one finds a solution please update this thread for all of us.
