Just loaded another keyboard cab and suddenly on soft reset/reboot the phone has frozen at the HTC logo and the screen showing the RGD info... won't reboot easily and takes many attempts to get back to this screen.. but will go no further.
So to do a search, what keywords should I be using or does anyone recognise this and have an answer.. have tried reset, battery out but nothing is working, the screen is just locked the screen mention above.
Using Laurentius26 GoldEdition V2.1 rom and was loading Touch-Keypad.Cab..
It is not connecting to the pc, so I can't reflash it at this time..
if you're phone wont boot since you installed this then looks like a hard reset is on the way mate sorry, you could try boot without mem card but doubt that will make a difference
Could you quickly remind me of the sequence for hard reset, red reset button doesn't seem to do a lot and I do have everything backed up so its not a problem... cheers.
press and hold both volume buttons and tap the power button. Keeping holding both volume buttons until it asks you if you want to factory reset the device. When it does tap volume up and it will then go off and do it's thing.
if the crash was the first time you had soft reset since youi installed the cooked rom, (even if you had been using it a while) it could be a mismatched radio. (Sometimes the rom/radio mismatch doesnt show till the first restart.)
Look at the R on the boot screen, if it has .51. in the version, then flash a new radio.

Do a hard reset yes. I had the same problem once and this helped me.
Hard reset= hold both selection button next to green and red button.
Keep them push down and switch on your Artemis. Afterwards you will get a question. To proceed is pushing the green key.
Your Artemis will be restarted again with all basic (use lost all your contacts but you still be able to activesync them back if you did make a backup)

An rainbow screen will appear (PDA must be connected on USB)
After, you can flash a ROM again...
Sorry for the long description but I think it is better to explain the whole story:
A few days ago I decided to HSPL my HD2 and installed Miri rom. All is working well until today when I need to hard reset the phone. Pressing the two volume keys just did not hard reset it, it just go straight to boot up as normal. The only way to hard reset is to use the Clear Storage.
I thought something has gone wrong so decided to go back to stock rom. So I put the stock Telstra Rom onto the SD card and renaming it to "leoimg.nbh". Then press down volume key and power. It started to show "Loading" but then went back to the boot loader screen. I tried many times and it didn't work. Eventually it worked and succesfully restored to stock rom with SPL 1.42.0000.
I tried the hard reset using volume keys and it is still not working. I then tried to use active sync to install the original stock rom from computer but that failed. (I noticed it did not recognize the version installed on the phone).
I then tried HardSPL again and although it says successful, the boot loader version keeps saying 1.42.0000.
Now I am stuck with the stock rom and cannot flash anything onto it, including stock rom. I suspect this is a hardware problem? Anyone has any suggestion.
I think you messed up with the SD card. I'll say it loud: DON'T EVER AGAIN FLASH FROM THE SD CARD. Now, you may try the HSPL 2, according to the base of your stock rom. For further information, go there. And don't forget: don't ever again... you already know.
Problem is HSPL2 does not work with Telstra phone...
Ok. It was my error. I tried to flash the HD rom instead of the HD2 rom!
Luckily nothing is broken! I now successfully restored to stock rom with SPL1.42 and is able to install HSPL. I can now start flashing Yeepee!!
However, There is still the problem with the hard reset where I can't do it with the volume keys????

Well.. If the device is up and running there is an "Wipe device" Option under "settings" --> "All settings". It is pretty much the same
I knew there is a "Clear Storage" option but I am just concern that it is a hardware problem. I have tried both stock and custom ROMS, with and without HSPL and it is still not working??

i find it is dificult to press both vol up and down with the back cover on. Try it with cover off, there is more give in the buttons. Plus be sure and press the right spot, you can sort of feel the button going down. Do them individually, dont just put both fingers on and press (well, till you get better at it )

You're absolutely right! I tried as you suggested and it worked. I guess the buttons were never properly pressed before. Many thanks. Good to know my phone is still "normal".

hi, i am in need of som serios help, im a total noob n i flashed my first ROM with Duttys_Leo_Sense_2.5_5.21905.5.0.93_2.13_Radio_2.10.50.26_HG_V3.4.exe
i then last night decided i wanted to switch over to Miri_Steve0007_Elegancia_V8.5
and now the phone will not reset and has a million crashes! iv been trying to go back to the Dutty ROM bt it dosnt let me. can som1 upload what it is that i need to get the dutty rom bak. thank u in advance
when you say crashing, can you give a bit more info? is it locking on a cirtain screen? or in a constant reboot?
you may want to also read through a few of the stickys as if you use the search you most likley will find the cause.

Performing a factory reset using phone buttons
If you cannot turn on your phone or access the phone settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using buttons on the phone.
With your phone powered off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
While holding the volume buttons, press the END/POWER button briefly and then release it.
When you see a warning message on screen, release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
From that my phone turned on and I was able to create an activesync connection again to flash another ROM.

I flashed many roms and never experience like that as long as you do it as per instruction/ guide in the relevant ROM.
I would suggest you to go into bootloader screen (turn of you phone, then press vol up and down together with the power on button).
Install HSPL (only if you havent installed it), perform task 29, flash the radio (check the radio version required by the ROM), and flash the ROM you want.
Everytime the process reach 100%, you press the vol down button to go into bootloader screen so you dont need to pull out the battery or the cable (but for the last process (flashing the rom), you should press vol down and up together (it will go to hard reset). And for better result, please make sure your battery above 50% and use win xp.
Hope you can solve it.
I desperately need an alternative way to hard reset my hd2. Holding the up down button and shortly pressing the on/off button just switches the phone on. No reset. btw I cant start up normally so the software approach doesn't wort either.

Use the reset button on back whilst holding up/down buttons
a few people have commented on the difficulty of getting both up and down pressed correctly.
I find I get a much better press with the battery cover off, and I press one first, then the second.that way you can feel them connect individually.
Why don't you guys use the build in software to hard re-set the devise.
1] Press Star Icon
2] Press Setting Icon
3] Press System Icon
4] Press Clear Storage Icon
That should start a hard re-set on device and re-store everything back to original configuration.

why don't you read the opening first again?
the dude can't use the software approach because his windows won't start, remember?
what about using task 29 or the reflash original splash screen while its doing its thing you can use both hands to hold the vol buttons, other than anything else suggested i dont thinj there us another way to hard reset other than reinstalling your rom maybe fix the software wipe storage app.

Same for me. Locked out of the phone completely. When it boots it only gets as far as the O2 start up screen and doesn't get any further. Hard and soft reset do nothing. Have tried all suggested here already.
When I get to the screen where I'm prompted to press Volume up to restore, it goes straight to 'restore completed' in a fraction of a second, then back to the start up screen when I press Volume up again.
Need help as I now have an HTC paperweight and no phone!

Been using magldr? Cos hard resetting with magldr installed just affects magldr, hence a very short reset time that does nothing.

No, I don't even know what that is. I'm not very technical and all I had installed was Cookie's Home Tab Editor.
I have the same problem.
My HTC is blocked ( the WM "forgot" the password that I set - a common problem ), so I have to do a Hard Reset that doesn't start.
I can't reflash or do anything else ( as told here ) without instaling HSPL first. As this can only be installed by the Active Sync, and Active Sync doesn't connect to blocked phones, I can't do anything else...
Is there a way to do anything else with only a new ROM in the sd card ? Or I REALLY have to install HSPL first ?

It is possible to be stitched from a SD-card without reinsertion HSPL. It is desirable to stitch official ROM
It is desirable SD-card to format a feather an insertion.
After freezing my device I tried to open but not opened then I tried to make soft reset again it didnt open then I tried hard reset but the normal menu didnt come instead the menu which is attached appear and telling something serial but not doing hard set now I dont know what I must do Please help

Thats your bootloader.....
to do a hard reset its...
hold down volume up and volume down
tap and release power
keep holding both volume buttons down....
I think whats happening is that your only holding the volume down.
Try taking your battery cover off to get a better press and making sure that up and down are held, then tap the power button.........

nothing only I have re install sprite and rim backups (whic I had before) it started normally and while working freezed I closed and not opened it is staying and wait at (HTC guietly brillant ) stage

You are probably not doing well the hard reset. You cannot destroy bootloader with backup programs.
You should :
-hold pressed volume up and volume down buttons
-tap and release power button
-keep holding both volume buttons down for several more seconds until three color screen appears and shortly after that a message will appear on lite blue screen. Then release both volume buttons. Then press volume up button, usually it is necessary to press it once again. System restoring bar will begin to raise up to 100%. After that pres again volume up and system will restart.
By the way your initial rom is 1.66 but on the pictures is 1.48. So you did pictures after you flashed it. Also noted that you have flashed HSPL.
Suggest to download your initial original rom and install it from the memory card. Not sure but may be downgrade of the rom is not possible from 1.66 to 1.44.

I can get the bootloader but it keeps showing "serial" even after connecting it to to the computer.
the "usb" does not come and i cannot update the rom
currently i'm using hyperdroid GBX v11 which is working fine (just one problem that it shows blank screen after a call ends and no display till another call comes) please help

Try, using another USB port or computer.
Reinstall activesync.
Have you tried flashing from SD card?

If you are 100% sure your stock rom is correct. rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.NBH, put it on the root of your SD card, and boot into bootloader, it will flash.
IF YOU ARE UNSURE IF YOUR STOCK IS CORRECT POST HERE FIRST OR YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE,
better to look noob than to brick, there are too many versions of this phone to mess around here.
