try to charge your phone see if the backlight goes on if it doesn't you can't actually fix it, sorry but maybe some others can help, don't give up.
or throw it in water, let it dry, call your insurance, tell them the cause was water-damage (if you've that in your package) you get a new mobile

Hello,
before anyone asks, i did try searching the forum, maybe i am not typing the correct search criteria.. but i haven't been able to find anything anywhere about this issue i am having.
I have the T=mobile G1 with JFK 1.5 ADP, and a few widgets, now the phone in itself is great, the OS if working, no crashes etc.
This is my dilemma:: whenever i have the phone in my pocket and i bend down, or run or anything, the phone turns off. when i am talking on it, put it to my shoulder and put pressure on it to hold it in place, it turns off... if i have it sitting on my desk and push too hard on the screen or the thin edges around the lcd, it will turn off. in some cases it reboots and comes back, but 75% of the time its just off.. now this is a problem, because when i have it in my pocket, and it doesnt come back on, i dont know that it is off till i look at it.
anyone have any thoughts on what this could be?? bad digitizer, bad LCD, etc? i am also in the processes of contacting HTC about this, seeing what they say. but i figure it wont hurt to ask, maybe someone else has ideas
Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a physical problem with the battery losing contacts. I suggest a replacement.
Thanks, its on its way back to HTC.. we'll see what they say about it...
ive been having the same problem... let me know what happens... do you by chance have one of the skins on (ie best skins or invisishield)?
This is the dumbest problem with the easiest solution... take the back cover off, remove the battery, clean the contacts (both battery and phone), put back together. Fixed.
update...

there is not need to be an A*****e about it. trust me, that is the first thing i did, don't assume you are smarter then everyone else.... its a defect they had in a few models. i dont see why you need to jump up and start pretending like you know everything about everything.
as an update to the status, the main board is broken but HTC is refusing to fix it, since they are telling me i have a broken warranty sticker. currently if i wanted it fixed i would have to pay $378.51. That is the amount for the repair. so for now i have filed a dispute with their Repain dept. since there is no point in fixing it when a new phone is 30 bucks more.
sorry for not updating sooner, i was in the tri state area the last week.
will keep you posted on this. but if yours is doing the same thing, call T-mobile if you have thme, for a replacement, or HTC for the repair.
HIeveryone im new here i have a htc touch hd (t8282) it was in my jeans paket in hot day when i try to call friend touch screen not responding and its look sweat inside. phone can turn on and buttons work. please help if you any idea. thank you everyonr.:-((
Turn the phone completely off.
Take out the battery, take out the SIM card, take out the SD card, leave the back cover open, and let it sit for 24-48 hours in a dry place.
It is tempting to use it, but I really recommend that you let it dry for 2 days before turning it on again.
Your case is not as bad as people who have dropped the phone in water. But often times the problem is that people see the phone still works and they continue to use it. That could cause a short with the moisture and then the phone is really dead.
I have had the same problem as you (sweat on the phone after being in my pocket). But it sounds like you might have gotten moisture inside the phone.
i thing you right mpisture got inside and i was left the phone to dry and turn it on few time and now leave it again in dry place hope this is will help. thank you for your help.
hi mate i did but it dosent work so im going to try change lcd. do you any idea for this?
No, I don't know much about taking the phone apart. But, if that is your plan, here is a manual with instructions on how to do it.

i got a crash i resetted ther phone .
after that phone works but the screen stays verry dark.
as if the backlight is broken.
i can see verry little on screen since its just so dark.
phoen works i can get phone cals etc but i just cant see a thing.
whats the problem . is my screen broken ?
please explain the word "crash".
did it fell down or did just windows crash?
if windows crashed and it didnt fall down, you can call htc or go to the shop where you bought it.
DN41
i got an sms .
then phone stopped working .
the touch screen didnt work anymore and i had to take the battery out.
i put it back in and turned on phone.
phone worked but screen stayed dark , i can see something things on screen but its verry dark.
now i put it on the charger and battery was goin empty verry fast even thoug it was on the charger it didnt seem to recharge .
while in the charger the phone was getting verry hot also . so i cant do a thing now .
edit .
im thinking isnt it just possible that since the battery looks dead, that the screen just isnt getting enough power to be lighter ?
since both problems came at the same time i guess they must be connected in some way .
i mean is it possible that a new battery solves the problem or isnt it worht ordering a new battery ?
CRashed ...from a window
My phone crashed too... Crashed onto a carpetted floor from a window (about 5 feet) while being charged, and landed on the edge of a barbell. What was it doing there u ask? I wanted to get the best 3g reception thats why. I use it as my main modem/router y'see...
Yes i got a really dark screen too, and two vertical bright lights. the screen was alright, no cracks, nothing. but the buttons was dented since it landed on the barbell(which was on the floor ).
Sent to the shop and told me it'll cost me about 170usd to fix the lcd,..and said it's gonna cost another 50 usd to fix the touch screen. Knowing the shop was b.s'ing since i know the lcd could just be the only one affected so i plan to buy just the lcd. did a few practice disassembly, and eventually after the 3rd disassembly and reassembly the screen was completely dark...even if it did lit up, i cant see any image.. so i guess i'll just get the lcd+touch screen. since i dont wanna go through the hassle of soldering the fine connection anyway, i decided to buy the lcd+touchscreen online cositng about 140usd..
well, obviously mine's a hardware problem.. Buy yeah I'd say that the hd2 is sooooooooo fragile, your hd2 problem might be mainboard related.
ps. still waiting for my replacement lcd+touch.. who knows if mine is motherboard related too(since the buttons get hot, but i can still recieve calls+use as a modem)

if you can see the screen at all, you might check your backlight settings to make sure they didn't reset to like 10%.
Otherwise, I would take it in to get fixed. Sounds like the backlight died.
Have you hard reset to make sure it isn't a software issue?
Everyone makes a mistake and I did one that wasnt too good. I had pressure on my HTC Desire Z. I was at a lan and I slept with it in my pocket. Next morning the alarm went and I want to shut the alarm off but the screen didnt wake up!
Rebooted the phone and still dont see anything but when I turned the LCD on, I could see a few lines and the LCD was lit up but nothing showing. The dignitizer still works due to it reacts when I unlock it.
Anyone have any idea to fix this? Is it really only replace the LCD or there is no small fix?
hit up ebay and look for a lcd + digitizer.. it's the simplest way of fixing your problem.
I think you need to buy a new one, don't sure but if this keep long may harm your device
My father dropped his phone. The phones display isn't working anymore (kind of). It stays black. The LED works, the buttons light up, sounds function but the display is black. When pressing the home key the buttons light up for aprox. 1 second then turn off.
Help would be appreciated because I am not a Samsung person
Please help!
(the warranty is still active)

Since its just screen then just take it to them. Thought it was broken.
Although you have warranty, seems it would be hard to get it a service center to repair it without a cost to it. Best bet take it to a Samsung service center and try your luck(they will charge you more than likely). Seems the device is too damaged for normal operational use.

XDA does not condone doing things to circumvent OEM warranty. I think people can figure things out on their own.
Considering the device is under warranty, then just send it in for service. Clearly a connection came loose on the display, and disassembly will viod the warranty. Best left to professionals.

Thanks

That's exactly what I thought happened. It's in service now. Thanks.
It only takes 2 taps to thank somebody here.

And I totally agree ^^^^^
Well, for info, I had an Iconia A501 tab (best tablet Acer made). It was a die-hard beast (until it became my 2.5yr old little girls tab):laugh::laugh:
After 1 year slamming around, dropped I don't know how many times, some nand became corrupted. Now, don't laugh, but I removed the MB and put it in the oven for a bit (10 or 12 min). And shazzam! Could reload the OS.
You see, these OEMs "cold solder" the connections, chips and such, and dropping can make them come undone or lose contact. So a bit of heat, then pressing the chips back in place, can sometimes work.
But some months later, I finally put it to rest. Just too much abuse :laugh::laugh:
Good luck Mate, hope they get it sorted.
