So I got my HD2 about 3 weeks before the official release by T-Mobile, and about 3 weeks ago, my phone has just started to get HORRIBLE reception on both edge and 3G.
So I have tried a few different options such as new roms, radios and Task 29 with no beneficial results. Now I don't know if it matters that my phone is old at all, but I have a feeling it may have something to do with it. My reset button under the battery door is RED instead of YELLOW like I have seen on every other HD2.
Any suggestions or solutions are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance..

I don't know exactly what's causing it for you, but I think if it doesn't improve after all the steps you've taken, you should go ahead and ask them to get you a replacement...it will almost certainly be from newer stock. If your reception just goes to crap all of a sudden and can't be improved, that should qualify for a warranty replacement under the 1-year allowance.

Thanks for the input.
Also a simple SIM swap could improve reception if nothing else has worked.

I really dont see how a SIM swap can improve RF reception. all a SIM does is store contacts, and generate encryption/authentication keys.
A poor electrical connection to the antenna or faulty electronics in the RF portion of the phone would likely cause this problem
A good wack into your palm though not hard enough to crack the glass might be enough to reseat any poor electrical connections to the antenna.

Seems cooler than my old diamond which had the same processor.
mine seems fine heat wise and since the LED issue is (almost) always connected to the headphone issue, which is a software problem 100%, i would say heat has nothing to do with it :/
try to plug in your headphones and play something, if they don't work, you're one of us
using data and GPS on mine makes for a very hot handset. LEDS are fine so far...
Mine has been sent back to htc . Crappy tmobile would not exchange despite only having for 10 days . Tech guy said it was defo a hardware issue reset didnt work

IANAL, but I think you'll find that T-Mobile may have breached your statutory rights in this situation. I'm pretty certain that you should be entitled to an exchange rather than a repair, given that such a short period of time has elapsed. However, I can't find anything on the web regarding your statutory rights which gives an explicit time frame.
Regards,
Dave
The person i spoke to said after 7 days they do not swap they send back to the manufacturer. Basically they are robots
If you're in the EU then your contract is with tmobile and not HTC. You have 2 years (yes 2 years) warrenty from tmobile. Its up to them to sort it out with HTC but they should have either given you a replacement or a temporary handset while they resovle the issue.

What they say, and what they are obliged to do by law are often two completely different things! It might be worthwhile contacting your local Citizens Advice Bureau as they should be able to advise you of your statutory rights and whether or not T-Mobile are in breach of them.
What I do know though is whenever I've been in a similar situation, simply uttering the phrase "breach of statutory rights" is often enough to change the tune I'm hearing.
Looking at the site linked here, http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/consumers/fact-sheets/page38311.html#Q2DoIonlyhaverightsfor30orsomeotherfiguredaysafterpurchase, which references the Sale of Goods Act the following paragraph may be of use to you:
Q11. The retailer has said that a repair is "disproportionately costly" and insists I accept a replacement as an alternative. Must I accept this?
Yes, and vice versa if you request a replacement and this is "disproportionately costly". However, remember any remedy has to be carried out "without significant inconvenience" and within a "reasonable time" for the consumer. Remember that you could also seek damages instead.

Here we're looking at the reverse of the question being asked, but the answer given does reference the vice-versa position. The underlined text I believe is probably particular apposite as if your phone is sent off to HTC for repair you will probably be "significantly inconvenienced for an unreasonable amount of time" by the lack of a phone.

Dave
See this too!
http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/before_you_buy/thinking_about/mobile-phones/
This seems very cut and dry to me:
If you have only had the phone a few weeks or haven’t had a reasonable opportunity to check it, you are probably entitled to a refund for a fault or poor description, or alternatively you may request a replacement.

i guess its too late now as i have signed the form allowing them to send it off to HTC.
if its totally Fubar i guess they will have to send me a new phone anyway, be interesting to see what they say is wrong and whether it can be fixed or not.
I am back on my good old viewty which can at least play a movie without stuttering and take a decent flash photo! and has a good HSDPA connection.
I am very busy with work and life recently become a dad so i cant let myself get all bent out of shape over a phone.
personally i think the Hero was a bit of a rush job which might be showing in these manufacturing problems.
At the end of the day i wont accept a crap phone back though!
was one of the people that flashed the leaked ROM (.3) to the EVO and soon after my speaker phone failed(Sprint tech says it was completely fried.) One day after having speaker phone replaced my signal went to crap. signal jumps to great and then drops to nothing leaving me feeling like I am on AT&T. Sprint tech did a freq test and concluded my antenna was bad. If it was bad, why would I have a great signal one second then nothing...? Any ideas!!? BTW I am on 2.2 .6 now thanks to Pojo and signal still sux
Idk, when I upgraded to the latest radio my signal crapped, even when I tried to downgrade it's still crap
they actually replaced just your speakerphone instead of replacing the entire phone?
A guess
I would venture to guess that if Sprint said that your radio was bad, then since it works part of the time that it is a physical hardware issue. That the radio is just a little out of specifications. Heat probably would make it worst. No version of the "radio" is going to fix the hardware.
Why didn't they just replace your phone?

They are going to replace the phone, but as many of you know they are out of stock everywhere... Have one shipping from advance replacement and if that doe snot go well, I have one being shipped to the store for pickup later this week. Should have my bases covered. Praying for a good refurb!
i have been looking around at ways to boost or extend the range of my cell phone. in the past my phones had what i assumed to be a external antenna connector on the back of the phone but i dont see this on the evo.
also i have seen these devices that you can mount in your car and acts as a repeater and/ or a booster for your phone, does anyone have any experience with such things.
i may be willing to pay a couple hundred for such a solution and it needs to be mobile.
any ideas?
This calls for the antenna booster stickers!!!!
There isn't really anything worth spending your money on. Your reception will only be as good as the coverage surrounding it. Best you could do is an airwave for home use or complain to sprint where you are getting poor service.

It's underneath the battery cover. I'm actually pretty sure you would have to file off a millimeter or so of plastic under the battery cover to get to it.

Never seen one of those, but I'm guessing it doesn't work.
The only thing you can do is call sprint, complain you are getting bad service at home, and tell them you will cancel if they don't give you an Airave. They should then send you one for free.

Yup. I told Sprint I didn't want to be one of their reckless roamers and I have no reception at home. Then I told them that there it's no point in me having sprint if I don't get reception. The guy on the phone was SUPER COOL and told me he would hate that because my phone bill is his paycheck (understanding the value of a customer) and they have me an airrave for free. The only issue I have with it is that it will not make a sound if someone else calls you while you're on the phone (call waiting) if you are on a custom rom. I can deal with that though. Other than that, I love it and love sprint for taking care of me.

Piggy back a second wireless router to act as an access point on the opposite side of your home, if you use WiFi a lot.

Umm, he's not talking about wifi signal, he's talking about actual phone signal.
Hi all,
I recently had to go through transplanting of my note 3 internals (motherboard, camera, etc,..) to a new case, since my screen cracked and digitizer damaged.
I bought off the case from ebay from a UK seller.
The problem I am facing is that I am suffering from drastic signal drop. Whenever I am inside a building, the signal drops to 0-20%. Data connection is nearly impossible.
At the same place, I used to be at least 50% with data (3G/LTE) before. Also, during calls, very frequently, the call just hangs, and the signal comes to zero.
I have now tried to root and try other ROMs just check whether this is software-related. Tried Resurrection Remix and AryaMod. Issue persists.
Any help in identifying the issue please ? Any hardware test I can perform ? Anything to reset on the radio/baseband ?
If this persists, I will have to go for another phone, - which I do not want/need at this time.
Please help.

Thanks for the answer.... I opened my note yesterday, was checking on the antenna cable, and connection ...
whilst comparing with an internal photo online, I noticed that I might have connected the cable to the wrong female connector on the motherboard side !
Check the photo attached of the blunder I made ! :silly:
Maybe I did this while swapping to the new housing... !
On putting it back,. the coverage has since then improved, but its not to my expectations.
Do you think changing the cable might do some good ?
Thank you
This might not be helping but can't you visit a Service Centre and have it checked?

Agree with you, but the service delivered by service centre in my country s*cks, my friend.
When my screen+digitizer was broken, they were willing to charge me approx. 100 usd just for opening and telling the problem. for changing lcd only, they were trying for approx. 275 usd...
Am not against paying high, but paying that high for a two-year old device would have made me think twice ... It was almost as good as buying a new phone then .... !

Hmm, just for checking the phone 100 USD? I sure hope they were joking! Here they take ₹500 for checking a phone, which is equal to what, not even 10 USD, LOL! The LCD and Digitizer don't cost that much either, it is around 150-160 USD here! You can contact Samsung's help line in this charge matter, or tweet them. All I know from my experience is if you can reach the correct people then you will have all your problems solved, very quickly too. Now who are the right people in your place, well I am sorry I can't know that.
Update 9 Feb 2018: So i sent this dead piece of brick to a third party repair centre amd they have confirmed that motherboard is faulty and it will cost 12000 or ~200$ to replace (down from 22k quoted by Huawei service centre). I am seriously repenting my decision of buying this phone against my instinct. I was initially skeptical about huawei now it has proven to be true. This has never happened to any of my earlier phones, it couldn’t even last two full years.
Now question is what should i do next? Spending 200$ isnt a wise decision as this phone doesnt have this much resale value and no certainty that it wont show any other issue after this repair.
If i dont go for repair what can i do with this dead phone, no exchange or buyback available
I am really disheartened. Guys Please suggest what should i do, need your opinion.
Yesterday my nexus 6p turned off abruptly and never booted up. Battery was more than 90% , tried plugging-in again for an hour but it shows no signs of life.
Today i visited Huawei's service center, they told me that its either PCB or battery issue. Battery replacement will cost 11k and PCB will cost 22k.
I am very disappointed with huawei quality, highly unreliable and substandard. within 2 year device shows such major issues. Cant believe Google chose this brand to malign their own brand value. never experienced this with any other brand, have used almost all brands including Xiaomi.
Now can anyone guide me on how to bring this piece of brick back to life? I wont bear 22k as it doesnt worth it for this device should i go for third party repair?
please suggest!
I would take the least expensive route and replace the battery yourself. If that doesn't work invest in a new phone. It is a great phone but to risky with the BLOD to invest too much money into.

how do i figure out if its a battery or pcb fault?
when my phone started to do this, I literally had to press the power button for like a minute before it showed signs of life....
Heat it up with a hair dryer and it may start.

Well if you did the work yourself could change that and the battery for under $40. If your paying to have it done that's a much bigger expense. Do you take the chance and hopefully get another couple years out of it? I mean even if you get the BLOD there is a fix for it though your phone gets slowed down quite a bit. I like the phone and would say go for it but let's see what others think. ?
