I enabled the aux input of my car radio and wire a cable jacks.
the problem is that when I get a call from my htc hd2, the sound is heard from the speakers but does not work the microphone for conversation because the hd2 course off the microphone of the device active because the headset with microphone.
Is there any way to wire the cable jack (4 pins) and attach a microphone to the cable itself? Some might suggest a scheme electricity?

In theory it should work as long as you can get the components and wire the cable correctly. whether or not your mouth would be too far from the microphone might be an issue,
Unfortunately, if I connect the phone jack, hd2 excludes the microphon base to activate the headset that is built, then the conversation can not happen, but I feel he did not hear anything

Depending on where your phone is, you could use a regular 3.5 mm male to male extension going from your radio to the phone. I have mine set up like that and the mic on the phone itself is powerful enough to pick up your voice. I ran a 10ft cable(3.5 mm male to male) from the radio,under the instrument panel, up the side of the door in the molding of the windshield to the sunvisor where my phone is clipped to the visor by the clip on the case. It works fine but you have to adjust the volume between your phone and the radio to find the best combination to avoid major feedback so the caller doesn't hear his own voice echoing in the background. I can't post links yet but if you go to youtube and search "iphone handsfree iphone in car setup" you will see how I did my iphone but I now have the same setup with the Hd2.

I have a MDA compact which I wish to connect to my car stereo as a handsfree unit. I have an auxiliary input for my stereo.
Is it possible just to purchase a 2.5 to 3.5mm lead for this? I have a gut feeling the mic won't work - please help? Is it possible to buy such a lead with a built in mic?

Hi, I used to have a XDAII which I connected to the auxillary port on my car stereo, just like you suggest. It worked perfectly. When using the phone, the caller's voice woudl come out of the car speakers and the mic was powerful enough to pick up my voice even though the unit was mounted on my windscreen.
Unfortuntely, both the Wizard and the Exec automatically disable the mic when you plug into the headphone socket. Not sure about the MDA comact. Sorry couldn't offer more advice on your particular device, but I hope my experiences help.

I do have the same setup. I can confirm U the mic still work after U plug in the adapter but I normally use a BT headset when I am in the car.
OK, so I assume that if I purchase a 2.5mm to 3.5mm lead, the mic should work?

OK - did some work on this.
I decided to cut the earplugs off of the supplied headset, and attach a 3.5mm socket.
I now have a custom XDA mini lead
All works, however volume from car stereo speakers is extremely low. Any ideas? (Yes, I have checked car volume, phone volume and headphone volume!)

Hi Jackleung, my mic is being diabled, and i am beginning to think that I may not have the right connector. I have a standard 3.5mm connecting the exec. Can you let me know how you have wired your device with the type of connector? You may be able to solve a longstanding problem of mine.

I found my mic was cancelled with the Mini, hence the custom cable.

I think my adapter is just a standard 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter. I tried 2 different adapter (one from Radio shack and the other one from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-CABLE-headp...ryZ15040QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Both are working for me (I will try again today and confirm U tomorrow), therefore I think yr problem is in the exec hardware itself.

Yr setup will not work since yr supplied headset adapter has at least 4 connection on the plug compare to 3 on the standard one. The extra connection is for the mic. If U cut the wire like this:
<---- X --- mic+volumn control ------ ear plugs
Then U can no longer use the mic w/ the custom wire. But if U:
<------- mic+volumn control -- X ---- ear plugs
then the mic on yr mic+volumn control will pick up the voice

Thanks for the reply - the lead was cut after the mic but before the earphones.
This was because a standard lead with a 2.5 / 3.5mm adaptor didnt work.
My only issue now is the low volume!

I tried it on my Imate Jam again. My mic on the Jam still works (eg: Voice Command via Cyberon Voice Dial. So do phone conversation) even I use my 2.5mm/3.5mm adapter to connection it to my car stereo.

I did the same for me and a friend of mine with a Univer..er - Jasjar and connected this to an FM transmitter - We have excellent sound quality, volume and the you can still answer calls by pressing the Mic Button

I have done exactly what you did, put a 3.5mm socket on the end of the included handsfree cable.. volume is fine, and i regularly connect it to the aux in the car, and multiple sets of headphone/speakers...
The best suggestion to your volume problem is to try again.. i know i had issue with the stereo channels getting screwed up (and even combined at one point) and it was just trial and error getting the connections clean..
You have to ensure that both the shaft and tip connectors on the socket are grounded to the shared ground on the circuit board.. otherwise the audio will probably be less than perfect.. check for dodgy soldering/connection.. coz i can assure you that your theory does work!

I think that the insertion of a jack into the socket operates a hardware switch so I don't think there can be any software tweaks. It is the same as plugging headphones in to a radio etc. the insertion of the jack breaks the connection to the speakers and diverts the output to the headphones.
I got a 2.5mm 4pole male to 3.5mm 3pole female adapter with built in mic and volume control off ebay for less than £5. A cheap 3.5mm patch lead to car stereo later and it works perfectly, other than a slight alternator induced whine is audiable when charging. This is more likely to be from my cheap car charger as it goes when not charging. I like the way MP3s etc get muted when a call comes in. TomTom, Mortplayer and phone calls all at the same time, I love my Wizard.
Guess u didn’t try it. I have my wizard attached with the car stereo and when I get a call i can receive it and talk, the mic gets activated auto. Works perfect for me. Give it a try should work for u.

Well I use a 2.5 to 3.5 mm converter which in connected via RC wire to the car stereo linein, when I get a call I just receive it and I can talk. The music stops I can hear the person call and can talk back, the microphone works perfect.
with mine 2.5->3.5 mm jack(done it myself, the 2.5mm jack has 3 poles, not 4) can only hear but the other person doesn,t hear me

One of the features I miss of my Hero that my Nokia N95-8GB had was the ability to plug in a standard pair of headphones (or 3.5mm audio out cable) and use the built in microphone to make hands free calls.
I use the phone a lot in my car whilst driving to and from work to listen to music and would love for it to recognise the standard cable (which it does - indicated by a pair of headphones rather than the headphones/mic icon used to indicate the presence of the hands-free headphones) and be able to automatically answer inbound calls using the internal microphone.
Is there an app for this kind of thing - I'm guessing it is something that is/can be controlled by software?
have you tried it actually? because i use my ipod headphones quite often and it works as expected, sound from headphones and i hold phone closely to my mouth as its using internal mic.
Really not sure what you are looking for. If you plug the standard HTC headphones in using the jack on the top then you can use of the built in mike they have to answer calls.
Or have I missed something?

I was able to answer calls just fine, and the person on the other end could hear me. (And it was just a standard stereo audio cable, my car doesn't have any sort of built in mic)

im doing the same thing but people on the other end are complaining about an echo of thir voice. I figure its coming from thier voice being picked up by the internal mic. Anybody have any ideas? how can i cut the internal mic while theyare talking. would a cheap wired headset work using its external mic? i could cut the headphones off and splice it into the line in.
I have had my G2 since late September and quickly found out by accident that it does use the internal mic when a headphone is plugged in.
Mine is a simple adaptor from the 3.5 mm into the RCA in my car. If I have the volume up too high, it echoes. If I have the volume down low, I can have a perfect handsfree conversation.
With the headphones I have had problems. In the car, I have the phone laying down and the mic side up. If I am holding the phone in my hand, I have no problems. Shirt pocket, ok. Pants pocket, no way.

Mine works when I plug mine into my car with a standard 3.5mm stereo cable.
Does the cable you're using have 1 or 2 black stripes on the plug?
i agree, this feature was one of the most pleasant surprises for me with the HD2.
on my kaiser, i used a special HTC headset that had an inline microphone (which i snapped on to my shirt collar) and this headset allowed me to plug in a standard 3.5mm stereo jack, which my car audio was plugged in to. this was the best solution at the time for the kaiser that allowed me to keep all cables connected and be able to use the car's speakers and have a working microphone all at once.
but with the HD2...WOW!!! i plugged in my car stereo's 3.5mm stereo jack straight into the HD2 and put on some music and started driving. a call came in while driving and i just pressed answer because i was still used to my kaiser set up (i had owned the HD2 for less than 24 hours at this point so wasn't quite used to it yet).
i started hearing the other party and i started speaking. and the other party could hear me. and THEN it hit me...i was like, holy hell!!!...what am i speaking in to? how come the other party can hear me?

I think it has two stripes since it's a stereo jack. I'm not sure but i think initialy I was able to speak in the car with the leo plugged into the stereo. May be some app I've installed later changed something?!?
the built in mic will stay active unless u have a cable with 4 connections (3 rings on the plug), a regular stereo cable has 2 rings. I've been using this type of setup for a couple of years with my previous phone, a.k.a. iphone. The mic is pretty sensitive and can pick up your voice rather well. I have my hd2 clipped to my sunvisor for easy access and routed the wiring inside the windshield molding down under the dashboard to the stereo and it works pretty good.

I would realy like some help for an issue that i have with my omnia 2..
ok, so basically i was making a setup in my car so i could listen to music
by connecting a 3.5 male to male cable (which i've made myself so it would be as short as i need it to be) to the AUX input in my car stereo system.
The music sounds sweet.
I also liked the fact that i could hear the person i was talking to on my car's stereo system, and obviously the music stops when you get a call so it's very nice..
now I know that the omnia 2 has 2 microphones (which is amazing!)
one for a regular conversation, and another one which is way more sensitive
for the use while you're using it as a speakerphone.
The problem is:
when i connect the 3.5 plug in the phone it lets me select:
1. Headphones
2. Headset
3. TV-out
when i select either of 1 or 2, the phone uses the regular mic and not the speaker mic.
i can hear the sound of my speakers in the car
(or maybe i will even hear it the same with headphones)
but i can't have the other side hear me as well as he will with the speaker phone.
I know it uses the regular mic because when i disconnect the 3.5 plug from the phone and put it on speaker, the other side hears me much much better.
(phone and me stay at the same place at the entire test)
my question is:
is there anyway to change (perhaps in the registry?) something
for the phone to use the speaker mic while anything is connected to it's 3.5 jack?
any help will be much much much appreciated.

Are you sure the mic doesn't work when you select "headphones"? When I use it like you do in the car, it works perfectly. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised it did, as opposed to Omnia I.
"Headset" means the original headphones with the mic on the cord, while "headphones" means regular headphones, and then it automatically uses the built-in mic.
If it doesn't work like this, take it to the service if you're still within the warranty.
